Parking is never an issue but there are a TON of signs stating to not leave your belongings in the car if so, you're taking a risk. I've never had an issues but I usually am just in and out (not the burger but you know) They have a good selection when it comes to pet supplies. We've been in for both our pups and our fish. They have a variety of fish in the back - (fresh and salt water) along with all the tank supplies. Take a look at their NFS tank - it's always filled with cool fish. They have an awesome selection of dog treats/food. The dog food is located in a separate section of the store - hard right when you enter & through another doorway. What keeps me coming back is the staff. On one visit, a cashier let me know a brand I'd been buying had gone downhill in quality and handed me samples of her top picks. That kind of honest, helpful advice is hard to find. The checkout area also tends to have timely impulse buys (hello, 4th of July calming chews) that actually come in handy. So, I have been coming here for a few years now and it hadn't dawned on me to post a review until I visited yesterday for some pet supplies. Rachael and David, who I believe may be the owners, or at the very least managers (along with their staff), are always friendly, inviting and extremely knowledgeable about animals and what food, or toys may be best for your pet based on your circumstances. They are always inviting and willing to help. I have also found that the pet food products they carry are typically healthier for your pet, more so than you may find at the big chains and box stores. The quality and price points of the pet food are fair and they often times have promotions and discounts. Many of the promotions are buy 12 and get your next one free (ie; bag or case of food etc.). Also, on weekends they have vaccination clinics and sometimes adoption events. They even have a dog wash inside. Check with the store to find out when and how often the Vaccine clinics, pet adoptions and dog wash is available. This place is located in Modesto, in a shopping center that looks like an old western town (corner of Tully and Standiford). Bottom line, I am glad to have found a personable store for all my pets' needs and to be able to help support a local small business. read more

Wow, how did we not find this place sooner?!? Staff was an absolute delight! They were all so helpful, kind and friendly. Despite walking in right before closing, we were met with so much positivity and we never once felt like we were a burden. They answered all our questions, took time to print out information sheets about caring for box turtles for my daughter and were very engaging. My sis & I been coming here for years for out dog food and treats. They even have a loyalty program where you buy a number of bags of dog food and get 1 free! The employee here know us by a first name basis and they are always so helpful and friendly. They make sure you are taken care of. Theyre not the type of employees to just ring you up and go, they literally are interest in how your day is going and how your life is. I love it. They also have a parrot that talks your whole visit. I would like to start this off by saying this store has a very rude worker and their animals that they have in this store are in horrible living condition. they have a scarlet macaw that is so stressed out in her/his small cage. the bird has no room to fly around from the cage being shut/small the bird is constantly biting at the bars of the cage, she/hes very dirty, beak is discolored and looks like it's about to flake, its very un socialized and nippy when someone walks anywhere near the cage, they also have a corn snake thats around pre teen years that is in a 5 maybe 4 gallon tank, they have a red ear slider that is in a black bin that is far to small for its size of turtle, all the tortoises they have are the size of a courter and they are being sold. an adult scarlet macaw should be in at least a 10ftx10ftx 8ft high so the scarlet macaw can exercise and spread its wings and play. it has all of maybe 2-3 toys in its small cage and is clearly very stressed-scared-aggressive-and not in the correct living conditions. being at the store today a curse words slipped out of my mouth and the worker there yelled at me saying that "don't cuss in front of my bird." I proceeded to ask as a joke thinking he wasn't being serious he replied with aggression saying "if i hear you cuss in front of my bird one more time I'm kicking you out of my store." then he walked away from me before I had a chance to say anything to him. and if he didn't just walk away with an attitude I wouldve apologized and told him that it was an accident. my brother and I were talking and didn't even realize the bird was in front of us if I had realized then I'm not stupid I know that macaws talk/pick up new words. but anyways I wouldve been way more careful with what I was talking about. mind you i understand that this man didn't want to have his bird cursing. but this situation should've been approached very differently. I wasn't doing anything wrong I was simply there to shop and in doing so I own reptiles of my own and the way that they're housing their reptiles and birds is not okay. the parakeets are also in very very small cages in pairs of 3-4 birds in one very small cage mind you the cage isn't even it's full length the have it blocked in half turning it into an even smaller cage. these birds and animals deserve way better than how they're being housed currently. read more

I absolutely love this pet store. I will keep going here, but I am begging the owners, please stop selling rats as pets. I was informed they are all inbred now causing major heath issues. I grew up with rats, out of the 5 I had; NONE of them had a single health issue. They all died around 3-4 from just old age. but watching my two girls suffer a little over a year later is horrible ( my 6th and 7th rat). One has major breathing issues(and is soo skinny) and the other has a now massive tumor.) Less than a year later I am going to be forced to spend 100$ per rat to put them down. This expensive and heart breaking. Please please stop selling rats!! read more

This was the first pet store I visited upon adopting my dog. They are very helpful and organized. I bought the bully sticks and other treats. They also had a bbq event where they had a sale on certain items so I definitely stocked on my baby's food. :-) The prices are on the pricier side and I suggest you let your dog try out the flavors/brands before you buy a large bag. My dog didn't end up liking the salmon flavor and peas from a certain brand so I had to take it back. The good thing is they have samples to give you and make sure you have your receipt and stay within the time frame of the purchase date. Over all, a good family-owned pet supply store. read more

They have a wide variety of food and treats. Jack loves going in there and they always give him treat. Jack ended up having a seizure but also had pancreatitis. This review is for the diy pet bath. My 1st experience there another customer yelled at me to hurry up, that I was taking to long. I was using 1 bath and there was 1 free. Rude patron was no fault of the store or staff but it wasn't pleasant. 2nd time there my dog refused to eat 48hrs after bath. After 4 days of not eating & lethargy with noticeable scabs which she has never had before. She yelped in pain with even a light touch. Took her to the vet and she contracted a bacterial skin infection which requires antibiotics, medicated wash and of course the Vet fee. The $12 bath cost me a lot more in the long run. I'm hoping this review helps them adjust their sanitation standards . If I do return, I will definitely pre-sanitize the area myself. I do recommend the pet store part of the premises as the workers are helpful and friendly. read more

The Red or Rose Breasted Cockatoo is my new favorite bird. They had two of them here that were so cute. I don't think they were for sale because there wasn't a sign up. They did want their pretty little heads scratched though. If I had a bigger house and money to get one I totally would. Now to the rest of the store. They carry a very good selection of dog food. I would probably come here for dog food rather than the big box stores. Also, they have a small pond with fish & turtles in it, and a collection of small rodents. The store is remarkably clean. Love this little place. Calm and pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff so far. They don't always have what I need but they do have a great Holistic and healthy pet food selection and also CBD oils and hemp products for pets. My dogs love the treats I have gotten from here and they have a lot of good brand and good quality products. Love their collar and leash selections! My girl has been wearing her collar and leash we got for over a few months and it's still in great condition! This is one of my favorite stops when some of the high end retail pet stores don't have what I want. We went into the store to purchase dog food and while shopping we were approached by every employee with the most pleasant greeting and eagerness to help us find what we were looking for. To top off our experience on this visit, Rachel provided me the most rewarding experience with engaging my son and I about so many different topics and pet related things. She was so pleasant and knowledgeable regarding the saltwater fish selection. We drove away with a feeling that you don't normally receive at any retail location. Stopped in here today to pick up a treat for my puppy (it was her birthday today and I am one of those pet owners). I was in the shopping center picking up dinner, so i figured why not! The selection of dog toys is really sparse, so I decided on a new rawhide treat. They carry a brand I had never seen before, but my puppy gobbled it up so I guess she approves. The selection of products for cats and dogs is pretty limited. However, they seems to have a rather large selection of supplies for reptiles and fish. I agree with Charlie though, the store is a bit crowded. The clerk who rang me up was lethargic and really seemed to want to go home, but the girl who was working beside him impressed me. She was advising a customer about..something involving her frogs. The girl seemed very knowledgeable about reptiles, and pets in general, so at least they have someone on staff with an extensive knowledge. read more

I really like this shop. The amount I paid for crickets is reasonable. The young woman behind the counter overheard me talking about wax worms and advised me that they keep them in-stock. She was really helpful in advising me how to store them as well. I love their prices; very competitive when compared to other establishments. I've recently become more conscious about what i feed my dogs and switched them to this awesome organic food that you mix with water , honest kitchen . They love it and this is the only place that has it. They have a good collection of dog food and other items. The place was way bigger than I expected. great store and its always great to support local business especially after hearing the atrocities committed by both pet co and pet smart .
