I live in LA and usually have my MaltiPoo groomed there - sometimes at PetSmart and sometimes at other, more "she-she" pet salons. Today, Teddy was groomed by Janette Lopez at PetSmart on Mchenry. She gave my girl one of the best haircuts she has EVER had ANYWHERE. Due to her curly coat, more often than not I am told "she is matted and will need to be shaved down". I know this is not always the case because I do brush her regularly. I have always suspected it was just lazy grooming and todays experience solidifies that. Janette took her time and gave my girl so much love. She is soft and fluffy and feels and smells amazing! So happy! read more

My mom is visiting from out of town and she took her yorkie to get groomed at this location and they agreed to give her a senior discount and the charged her extra cause they said her dog was biting and she takes him regularly to get groomed and has never had a problem with him biting. She picked up her dog and he was very scared and limping. And his haircut was uneven and not what she requested. And the people were very rude. read more

I dont know her name, but when I went to pick up my dog fromt the groomers, another groomer was mishandling a white small poodle. The dog kept whimpering and the groomer would roll her eyes and looked so irritated. Then she would try again and the dog kept whimpering. She stopped and did the same, roll he eyes and be irritated. She said, "oh come on" to the dog then looked up at me bcuz im watching her with a serious look. The groomer didn't show compassion or care and was visually irritated. She didn't even hide her annoyance even with me staring. No pet parent wants someone like that touching their dog. I immediately felt protective over that dog who can't speak and tell the owner what really happend. I dont know her name but she has light brown curly hair, a little heavy, maybe in her 20s. It was Sept 27th when this happned. Im giving two stars bcuz my groomer is actually nice. However, im reconsidering even coming back after that. I had curbside pick up. She said my name. I had her place it on the seat behind me. I saw that she brought out another persons order at the same time. I didn't think anything about getting 2 bags because I ordered cans and packaged cat food. The last time I picked up from that store, they had put my 92 cans/packaged foods in one bag, smashing a few of the packaged foods. When I got home the 2 bags had another persons name on them. I called the store. What do you want us to do about it is what she asked me. I said I expected her to take care of this. The order was for my one cat who has been ill for a while and only was eating these 2 varieties of soft foods. I was so upset. She said she would be in the next day to see what she could possibly do. I saw the other persons phone number was on the receipt and called her. She said we could meet the next day and exchange the foods. Her order was to be refrigerated and when I got home, I immediately refrigerated her food. I reassured her it was refrigerated properly. The next day we exchanged our orders. When I called the store, the staff only said "sorry" without even offering to resolve the issue that night. The pets may be smart, but definitely not the employees. The only reason I gave this place one star because they had what I was looking for where everyone else is sold out. In addition, two registers were open and only one line which does not make any sense. Go to any other pet store like Petco or pet supplies plus or even Walmart, there's at least logic behind their process, unlike this place. It's obvious that the brains went to the pets not the humans. In addition, you'll get friendly service from McDonald's then you do from here and that's saying a lot. Do not go to the grooming here!! Absolutely disgusted on how they treated my dogs and myself. They called saying they found a worm near his behind and they could not continue the service. I took a picture of the "worm" it was a snail. They told me to take my dog to the vet to confirm it was not a worm and that only then they will accept. Mind you they have the vet right there to ask if its a worm or not. The way she kept telling EVERYONE and not even realizing it was a snail was so embarrassing. DON'T USE THIS PLACE! I have taken my dogs there and been happy but I took my 2 small dogs there in July for a bath and brush. Right after that, my husband had to have chemo/radiation treatments. The nails on one of my dogs were wonky. I called about a month after and was told that something had to be done within 7 days. Of course, I did not have the time and was not aware of the time limit. I will NEVER go back there and will take my business elsewhere! I have told my many friends and relatives NOT to use this business. I ended up having my vet CORRECTLY clip the nails. I'm only giving one start because I got a full refund. Got a call saying my rottie was being stand off'ish and they couldn't trim her nails. Ok I'll take that. But what they didn't mention was that they did not groom her, like at all and still had the audacity to change the price of her service to $75. Her dad picked her up and once she got home I could see visible dirt on her coat still and clumps of fur falling off. They also said she was growling every time they walked by her kennel... my girl was groomed at sisk road by Joey for almost 7 months straight and he nor the other groomers ever made any such comments. I understand she's a big girl, but if you're too intimidated or flat don't want to groom her why would you keep her for 2 hours and then try to charge me? This place is a complete joke. Unbelievable. They treat their loyal customers like thieves. My dad has been a loyal customer of this PetSmart for many years. Even though he now lives with me in a different town, he will make the 30-minute drive to go to this particular PetSmart. My dad is a retired, disabled veteran with PTSD. I know going to places he's familiar with helps manage his anxiety, so I didn't push him to go to the PetSmart that is in our new hometown or question why he would travel so far. Anyhow, he went to this PetSmart to buy a new automated litter box because the one he currently has stopped working. When he bought the new litter box, he was warned he would not be able to return it if he opened the box. This, in itself, doesn't make sense. I've never shopped at a store that wouldn't allow me to return an item that I've opened as long as it's not used or damaged. But, it gets even better! The manager then proceeds to tell my dad not to swap the new litter box with the old litter box and try to return it. I'm sorry. What?! Are you already accusing my dad of being a thief as he's BUYING merchandise from you? He's a frequent customer of many, many years! So a couple of days later, I happened to fix the litter box he already had, and instead of being happy, my dad became extremely nervous to return the one he just purchased. I couldn't understand why. You would think he'd be happy to save almost $200 being he's on a fixed income, but, at the time, I had no idea how he was treated when he bought the litter box. When he went to return the UNOPENED and SEALED litter box, the staff member proceeded to open the box, which made my dad nervous because the manager had so strongly warned him that he wouldn't be able to return it if was opened. They then proceeded to open the sealed bags inside the box to inspect the merchandise. I realize theft is a real thing in the retail business, but to accuse your loyal customers of having this wild plan of stealing a litter box by buying a new litter box just so they can swap it with an old one and then try to return it is so wildly inappropriate. And then to open a SEALED box to inspect the contents as if my 73-year-old father is some criminal mastermind that has all the tools necessary to open a sealed box and then return it to its original state is even wilder. He can barely navigate his email, let alone figure out how to steal litter boxes. Not sure how the manager of this location got his job, but it's clear that he's not qualified for the position. Shame on you for putting my dad through this stress. My dad served this country, so we would have the freedom that we do. You've chosen to abuse your elderly customers with your freedom. Do better. I would give 0 stars if I could, I had the worst customer service experience at this Petsmart location this afternoon. I came today to get a bird for my daughters and we decided on a parakeet and were unfortunately assisted by an employee by the name of Aver. He grabbed a few basic items we would need to get started and asked if I have a cage yet, I told him not yet and that I would like the small starter parakeet cage to use for a few days while we wait for the larger cage to get delivered, he said the cage was too small and brought the large cage, bird and accessories to be checked out. I told the cashier I didn't want that cage and I went back to go get the small size, I get back in line and while I'm waiting, he comes back and says the cage is too small and I repeated that it is a temporary cage and the one that I am purchasing right now says that it is an appropriate cage for a parakeet. (See picture below) He proceeds to say that "he's done" and aggressively SNATCHES the bird away in front of my kids upsetting and confusing them. I asked to speak to the manager of course and the manager says the employee said cage is too small and only for temporary use and I told him that I communicated to Avery multiple times that it was for temporary use and he said he would handle it. I spent 120 dollars today for a parakeet, food and cage and my pet was snatched away in front of myself and my 11 and 4 year old daughters, why does it say on the box that it is appropriate for the bird that I purchased?....I've never felt so disrespected as a paying customer and will never shop at a Petsmart again if that is how they want to treat their customers. read more

On Saturday morning I went to ask if they had a nail clipping service for my cat. A very nice young woman told me yes and that I didn't need an appointment. So I went back about 45 minutes later with my cat. When I told them what I was going for, another older woman told me that they did not do that service on Saturdays or Sundays. It was very frustrating because I lost time and gas, and they didn't even offer me an apology. Please train your staff more so that they give the correct information to the clients and so that no one else will have to go through my bad experience again. read more

I'm a glutton for punishment and continue to go back to PetSmart. No more. They continually change the prices on me. My dog is 11 years old. For 7 years (around once a month), I took her to PetSmart in Salt Lake City to be groomed with a furminator for about $72. Then I tip $20. Go to Chicago for a year or so, same thing. Then I moved here, and guess what? Almost $100! Today, I signed the document and initialed where the price would be $80. I go to pick her up and the price changed to $98. I ask why? They say it's the wrong breed then proceeds to tell me that I've paid similar the past 3 times. I wonder why? Maybe I don't feel like arguing with a little girl and want to take my dog home. Secondly, she's a mix, it's not up to you what breed she is when it was previously decided at multiple PetSmart's what to classify her under; not to mention, a DNA test. This is the 3rd time they do that. I've had a PetSmart profile for 11 years. Now you want to play goody two shoes and charge me more? Bonnie is calm and sweet. Everyone who meets her, including people that hate dogs, says that. Not even joking. I support local and big boxes because I believe a job is a job. However, in this case, I beg anyone who goes here, not to and go somewhere else. I feel ripped off and considering reporting this higher at the company. I have been inside this Petsmart 3 times in the past 2 years. First time for a doggie diaper that unfortunately didn't work out for me and then this year to pick up one of the best kitty litter toilets around with curbside pickup due to COVID 19. Natures Miracle; a super sized lidded cat toilet. It's massive AND they have a corner model which is shaped like a triangle with smooth edges. It saves so much space and keeps it recluse. My cats like it and Squeeker really enjoys it as I caught her toilet monitoring; allowing only so many of her fellow felines in to use it; actually she wasn't letting anyone in. Kitty drama ;) Haha! That's a no-no and as she was reconditioned to modify her behavior so she's since moved into monitoring one of their many water dishes. Here's why I like this new litter Exquisicat clay clumping litter: it clumps way better than Arm & Hammer (the black box) and it clumps as good as Scoop Away without all the perfume smell. I paid $15.00 for 40 pounds and it goes the distance. One thing I will say is that Arm and Hammer is a decent litter HOWEVER it reeks of spoiled fruit once their waste touches it. It's awful and over powering. I think they may have been using fruit enzymes to break down the cat waste or whatever. Either way it's a no-go for us. I've learned over he years to fill their gynormous Natures Miracle corner toilet as full as I can with fresh litter. Why? It prevents their deposits especially the urine from reaching the bottom of the toilet where you'd have to scrape and scrape at it to collect it all. Then it breaks apart and your left with less than a spotless cat toilet. Makes cleaning it which I do twice daily a breeze. They also have a catnip that my babies love and that is Whisker City label cat nip. Their number one Kitty Cat crunchy snack is Purina's Whisker Lickin's; the crunchy not the soft variety. No joke tried Blue Buffalo and other costly treats; Rejected unanimously. So when you have a kitty that isn't feeling well I can attest that despite them not feeling well they will eat this. It's a lifesaver. Lastly I will say that I LOVE this chain stores price matching policy. They will honor which ever is less costly for items sold on their website and in store. Here's an example: Whisker Lickin's Tuna or Chicken flavored crunchy snacks 10ounce sells for $4.24 in store. Using your cellphone you go to www.petsmart.com and the same item is listed at $3.99. You will pay the lesser price without being harassed. Now my great 85 year beautiful friend Shirley swears they will also price match to Walmart but I haven't tried that yet. I'm never really on yelp but my experience dealing with a store that has lazy, unmotivated employees that only care about clocking in and clocking out prompted me to write a review. Walked in the store an hour before closing, basically was ignored while looking around . I had to walk over to a cashier visiting with her co worker to ask for assistance because I wanted to buy fish for my custom 100 gallon fish tank and I was told they didn't sell fish an hour before closing! I selected three stars because they usually do a great job with my dog. She always comes out happy and well maintained. Sometimes they even put little bows and stuff on her. There is just one lady in the grooming department that always makes me feel like I'm inconveniencing her even though I make my appointments online and make sure my check ins are completed. She has straight black hair, glasses, and tattoos and she's very light complected. I've never seen her smile before expect one of the times I dropped off my dog she was standing off to the side chit chatting with some friends who looked like they came to visit her at work. Salesfloor maintenance needs improvement. I was able to find the correct sized travel carrier for my cat, but unfortunately, options were limited due to almost every carrier available on the salesfloor having some part of it broken. Customer service was lacking, but that may be due to only 2 employees being spotted during my 20-minute visit. I had a problem with an online order that was through their store but the website itself is in charge of the order. I was having a real hard time trying to get PRESCRIPTION can food for our dog, the site telling me it would take up to 3 days to verify SERIOUSLY????!!! I took my pet there for the first time today. I would never return. The package I asked for as a first time customer went horribly wrong. They didn't do half the things offered in the package because they said I had to request it? Why would I have to request what the package offered?? The manager Julia or julie had no sympathy for customer service. I work in customer service for bills MUCH larger to make customers happy and they didn't even try.. many of my animal loving co workers warned me but I didn't listen. I will never shop at PetSmart again went to return a Thunder shirt that I got for my old dog who mind you sheds. My dog did not like it at all so I went to return it to PetSmart within the proper time and they refused to refund because they say they couldn't resell it because of the fur I'm not sure what they wanted me too do wash it before I brought it back, the shirt costed close to 50.00 and never once did they say if there was fur on it because most dogs shed will you not be able to return it. I purchased 2 baby corn snakes for my daughter. I was given a 14 day guarantee but one of the snakes "Newt" Died on the 14th day at 10pm. I took him to the vet prior to his his death & the vet was concerned about his lack of eating. I contacted pet smart & told them the situation & also had proof our little guy died within the 14 period. Pet smart refused to issue a refund or offer anything. I did everything to keep him alive & spent extra money to take him to a reptile veterinary. The fact that I call on the 15th day as soon as they open & offer proof of my snakes apparently isn't good enough. They think he should have died before the store closed yesterday. I just wanted to get on here and share my experience since a lot of the reviews are bad. I am not questioning other reviewer's experiences, however, sometimes it depends who you are dealing with and what the issue is. I personally have never had an issue at this store. I recently started taking my puppy to the training classes. I also took my older dog to the training classes about five years ago at another Petsmart and the training is great. The methods used are easy for people to understand and be consistent with even if you don't have a lot of dog training experience. I had success with my other dog, and my puppy has only gone to two classes so far and is learning so well. The employees at this location are very helpful with any questions I have had. I have also returned things here a couple of times with no issues. Of course I had the receipt or proof of purchase on my phone or through my phone number used at time of purchase. I've also used their grooming services and never had an issue. I have had issues with other grooming places where they botched my poor pups haircut. So far the good experiences definitely outweigh the bad, not that I've had any bad ones so far. I just thought that the store deserved some positive feedback. Like any retail establishment, employees come and go, and sometimes certain ones are not the best when it comes to customer service but I think that this location is doing a pretty good job. read more

Horrible customer service! I went in yesterday and was treated horribly. I was in line for several minutes while the cashier waited on the person in front of me. They were going back and forth over an online purchase that they could find no record of, so that she could return it. They looked up her phone number and email address at least 3 times each, with the same result each time! I finally asked if there was someone else that could help me while they worked this out. The cashier gets on the radio and ask for another cashier because "the person behind the lady I'm helping wants someone else to help her". Wow! Now the manager comes over to help and to check me out. She gets on her radio and whispers something while giving me the side eye. I just wanted to get my stuff and get out of there. The line was backed up with at least 3 other people behind me. As I am driving off, I can see the original customer is still at the register and the line is longer than before. The manager checked me out and then closed her line, leaving all of those other people waiting. Just awful! read more

Not worthy of any stars. I have an American Eskimo and dog was sheared down like a lamb. It's obvious the groomer has never groomed a dog, yet I was told she is experienced? The grooming department created a diva monster!!! I take my dog Pru to this petsmart to be groomed. She always gets a full bath and nail trim with the grinding added to it. Last time we went, I decided to add on one of the "luxury spa" packages which included giving Pru a pretty pink neck scarf that says "I am beautiful" when she was all done. Pru fell in love with her scarf! When we brought her home, she pranced around the house all day, as if showing everyone how pretty she was! It cracked us up! When we tried to take it off, she got very sad and whined. She looked at us like we had scolded her. Once I put it back on, she lit up with excitement!! Now it is tattered and dirty and she still won't let me take it off. I'll post pictures of the day of grooming and some I took today. Looks like Miss. Pru will need to have that extra spa package every time! Plus, the groomers are amazing. They remember Pru each and every time we go in and always love having her at the salon. Everyone is very friendly and the store is well stocked. The employees are always there to help with any questions or concerns. Thanks PetSmart for being awesome! read more

I don't like going here from past experiences with other employees but I'm forced to because my cat is on a prescription food unless a change it and I've thought about it many times because of unpleasant past visits.. This is only for the grooming department, I have a little puppy 12 weeks old who is still afraid of getting groomed. I have taken her there twice for grooming and both times she comes back extremely sad and acting afraid/scared. My puppy is an extremely happy little girl, I can't say they hurt her or yelled at her I didn't see it but I didn't like how my baby was acting after I picked her up. Also, I had a coupon for a puppy bath and was told a trim was included the first time they took my baby there, the second time she (groomer) refused to let me use it. She said its only for a bath, not a trim. If that is the case why did you let me use a coupon the first time? The so-called trim that I had to pay for was only around my puppies butt and it looked so ugly it just looked shaved down to the skin. read more
