Terrible experience! I took my yorkie in for a cut (it was his first) however even being his first experience I expected professionals to be able to provide a better service. I dropped him off at 7 they called me at 11 to inform me that they were unable to complete the job! I was told I would get a call from the manager to address the issue I have yet to receive that call and my puppy was left with a half shave and nothing else. Had the best experience here ever My one year old pup has never been groomed but was in desperate need. I booked an appointment online and showed up about 15 min early and everyone was super helpful. My poor boy even took a nervous poop right in the entrance and they made us feel like it was okay and even cleaned it up with a smile on her face. Our groomers name was Sarah who was also super nice. I was nervous dropping my little guy off especially since I had no idea what exactly I wanted him to look like lol. Sarah called me and told me he was ready and when I got there she was super friendly and grabbed my pup for me. He looked sooooo handsome and clean and he didn't seem scared which made me so happy! The McHenry Ave store grooming salon is great. I go in monthly to get my dogs nails clipped. They charge less than the vet and do a good job. My little chihuahua won't walk in there they always carry her then page me when they are done and hold her until I get there. My chi doxie mix barks his head off the whole time and it usually takes two people to clip his nails and they are really sweet about it. I recommend this groomer read more

Honest review.... I've been shopping here for some time now. I think there are a few people who work here that really like their job and know what they are talking about. I love that there is a vet there also I get advice and products from the vet all the time. I really love how clean the store is and the products that have. I've have many emergency times I need kitten and puppy milk and food , I know they have it. I love how I can count on this place to have what I need. When it come to the grooming and buying small animals I have no idea how good or bad they are. For products and medication I'd say it's a good place prices can be a bit high for somethings but after getting the information and advice I need I might amazon it other then those very few products that are a bit $$$ they are great. Tried to price match here because their prices are astronomical. Amazon sells a 15 pound bag of my dog food for ~$16 and they sell it for ~$38. I've been to this specific store and other petsmarts who have price matched with me before on Amazon and they refused to sell me the product at a fair rate. It's best to be on the same page about these things so customers don't get two different stories about how much something costs and who you can price match with. I've used Amazon for price matching MANY times and at many stores and have yet, until today, to be turned down. Plus this store is dingy and old, I'll be sure to order my dog food from Amazon from now on because they're not price gouging their products and screwing their customers over. read more

Do not EVER buy fish from PetSmart we had a happy tank for 2 1/2 years...we bought a few new Tiger Barbs and they got our entire tank sick. Half the fish are dead and the other half are fatally sick. Wiped out our entire aquarium in a matter of days. read more

Cashier was super nice. The associate that helped load it into the car was super nice as well. However, I was a bit confused whether or not an item was on sale (I believed it was just a display, I didn't know that they sold it as is). So the associate (tall one) explained it to me as if I were stupid. He was making hand gestures and mocking me in a way. Again like I said, I thought it was just a display, I thought they would bring it from the back in a box. But yes, I found his way of explaining it to me very rude. I deal with depression and social anxiety so obviously rude encounters like such affect me more than what people usually think. I was going to buy other items but, the whole situation got in my head so I left with just the tank and a filter. Luckily, my sister was by my side and I didn't get a panic attack since I usually go through them. Treat people with kindness you never know who has it worse than you. read more

Grooming Department : If i could give them 0 stars i would, i made an appointment for my puppy to get groomed, a bath and nails trimmed i showed up and the girl asked questions if this was my puppies first time and i said yes and she said she would try to get her familiar and start the process but she would have to come back to finish her with more time ( which should of been said before the appointment im the first place ! ) she made me another appointment and she kept on going back and forth saying how its hard when its a puppies first time so she then says ill see you guys on your next appointment and we will " Try " when she had said she was going to start the process ?! The whole time she kept on bringing up more and more excuses on why my puppy should just go to the vet and get medicated while they trim her ??! It was literally like she did not want to do my puppies hair! I asked her if she can at-least trim her nails so she did, then i get a phone call one day before my next appointment saying she was not going to be able to do my puppy because she had another appointment that required her full attention and she accidentally booked them at the same time ! At that point i was just done with her! Worst service do not recommend especially if it is your first time going ! read more

I know, I know...5 stars to a pet chain store. I can't help it, though, because the service was wonderful. I just bought a new male puppy English Bulldog and needed to buy the works: bed, puppy play pen, crate, food, etc. I enlisted the assistance of somebody up front and she sat there with us for a good 20 minutes describing the different options and talking about the breed. I've taken my dog in for grooming here multiple times however one day I got a call saying they accidentally sliced my dogs foot while grooming her/clipping her nails. The cut was pretty bad and needed stitches ( which Petsmart took care of before I arrived ). They also offered to cover all costs of the bill which they should. My pup had to wear bandages and a cone for a few weeks to keep here wound from getting worse, not a good experience. I can't vouch for the rest of the store however I have since left the grooming department and have found better places to get my dogs groomed at. read more

This pets Mart is awesome. I ended up with an aggressive fish in my tank, and the manager was able to take the fish back from me, and also replaced the fish that were killed in this process. It seems like a small guesture, but my children we're thrilled. read more

After getting Tater Tot, our weiner dog, from the Modesto shelter... we took him here to get spruced-up. The girls were not that great when it came to customer service. Also, we discovered 4 ticks on Tater when we got him home. You'd think they would have seen them there and taken care of it. I'm not sure what we actually paid for. A good venue for pet adoptions, but not as far as dog training goes. One has to bear in mind they are most often adopting a rescue dog with some behavioral issues that go above and beyond the expertise of an obedience training. I advocate basic obedience training for all dogs, but it's not going to fix a dog with serious behavioral issues, it may prevent some issues but shouldn't be the be-all-end-all for a dog with special emotional needs. read more

I've been going to this PetSmart for a looooong time and I have never had a problem with it. The staff are friendly and helpful, but some of the pushier employees do lay on the friendliness too thick. They always have the products I'm looking for. The cherry on top for me is their selection of heavy duty dog toys. I'm sure any experienced dog owner knows the importance of high quality toys. Bonus! They have a great grooming salon full of super nice groomers. They always do a great job with my dog and she is never gone too long, even on busy weekends. read more

My husband and come in every week but we decided to take our business elsewhere because of an employee named Chelsea, she was rude to us twice because we wanted to hold a cat which we have been looking for another cat but in order to get one we would like to hold it and make sure we have a connection. She is the only one who gives us attitude, she acts like she hates her life be careful if you ask her anything because she will give you a smart ass answer that had nothing to do with what you asked. I have cancelled my automatic online order to petsmart 3 times now, and I am still getting cat food sent to me and being charged for it! I am being told I will have to go to the store and get a refund. The point of online orders is for convenience and now I have to lug 2 large bags into the store for a refund.... not cool. So, just got off the phone after having to ask for a supervisor and they are finally agreeing to refund both bags and have finally cancelled my automatic order... I live in Turlock, and the only real Pet place we have is Pet Extreme, which doesn't have what I need for my dog and is a bit over priced. I shop there only when I have to. I have to make the trip to Modesto to pick up hip pills and vitamins for my dog. I wish we had a Pet Smart in Turlock, it would make a killing. It has a great selection of items and it can be pricey at times. It speaks volumes that I will drive 35 mins out of my way to go there instead of a mile away from my house to Pet Extreme. read more

The staff here is always so friendly and helpful, and they have such a great variety of cat things---which most pet shops lack! This place did a number on my dog yesterday. My dog was running around, couldn't be pacified, yelping, scratching and didn't let us sleep. We rinsed him off several times, thinking that maybe he was allergic to the shampoo but that didn't help. We ended up giving him 1/2 a Benadryl to help soothe him. Today, he did the same thing. I ended up calling the Grooming Dept, talked to Keri and took him to their vet, only to be told that he needed an APPOINTMENT to be seen, something that she neglected to tell me before I went. No, thanks, I will NOT be taking him here any longer. He has red marks by his anus and it looks irritated (clippers?). I'm taking him to my own vet...they'll help him. read more

Everything is fine here, the service is always friendly, the food and toys are the typical brands for decent prices. Except animals. Please read this before buying a small animal from PetSmart. We bought a baby guinea pig from pet smart on Sunday night; he was tiny but they told us he was just a runt. We have two other guinea pigs and we slowly introduced them to one another. I noticed that night that the baby guinea pig is sneezing a lot so I separate him from our other guineas. The next morning the baby guinea pig can hardly breath and is caked with booger's. We took him back to PetSmart and they took him strait to the vet. We contacted our vet about our guinea pigs and she told us to watch for symptoms of respiratory infection. So our guineas showed no signs of respiratory infection but 1 week later one of our guinea pigs died out of no where and was perfectly healthy prior. I am PISSED AND HEARTBROKEN. They sell sick animals here please do not buy from them!! read more
