Exceptional Evening at Chandler's…read more My wife and I had a wonderful evening at Chandler's in Petoskey. We shared an entrée and enjoyed a wonderful glass of Italian wine, and everything was really exceptional. We also ordered sushi, which unfortunately took quite a while to come out. It actually arrived after we had finished our entrée! To Chandler's credit, they handled it beautifully and took the sushi off our bill. That kind of gesture says a lot about a restaurant's commitment to its guests. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was terrific, and our server was outstanding--attentive, friendly, and professional without being intrusive. Overall, it was a memorable dining experience, and we would absolutely return. Chandler's is definitely one of the places we would recommend to anyone visiting Petoskey.

I had the duck and it was disappointing. The texture was rubbery and chewy. It lacked flavor. I finished it but wouldn't order it again. They serve it medium rare which is fine with me but my wife thought it was too red. The atmosphere is nice in the wine cellar and our server was excellent. She was very prompt and attentive. The prices are reasonable.

It was warm, delicious, very tasty , a bit spicy and served on a really good soft bun with crispy edges. Perfectly cooked the sandwiches are served with orange slices , which is a nice break from chips or fries ! They have numerous coffe and matcha drinks hotv& cold. I tried the cold match blackberry lemonade and it was good and my hubby had the matcha raspberry latte and he really liked his. You know it's a great place when you unexpectedly run into the bride eating there the morning after her wedding!!! The only thing keeping me from giving this restaurant 5 stars ( because the food quality IS there !) is the bathroom situation. There's a very tiny sing men's and women's with a sink to wash hands inbetween. I didn't mind the " closet bathroom stall - I minded the dirty floor and the fact that when I went to wash my hands in the shared sink outside the stall in between the bathrooms , barely any soap dispenses! I went under 4 x just to get enough soap to get the buffalo sauce off of my hands. This is concerning because it makes you wonder if the cooks are bothering to try to get any soap on their hands ?! . Roast and Toast : *Clean the bathroom floors and get a new soap dispenser and I bet you'll get the stars and reviews your food deserves !

Because the place was populated (but not crowded) and my order was simple (a matcha and cranberry chicken salad) Filling my order was a lay-up. The drink came in a timely fashion but my sandwich was nowhere to be found. Add to that I was sitting in the very visible window seat, by myself...a fact made more obvious by the fact that no one was near me and I'm a black dude in a very white restaurant (basically making me even more obvious). Now to be clear: I DO NOT think this was racially motivated, I DO think , however, it was due to inattentive staff. Personally I'm also not a fan of having to go get my food when they call my name, ESPECIALLY if the drink and the food come out at different times. Too much up and down for me. Cute place but I was disappointed...which bums me out because I really WANTED to like this place. This will probably be my only time here (as I am just passing through) and, sadly, this was the impression I was left with.

Experiencing A Classic Lifestyle…read more We recently stayed at the Bay View Inn and were pleasantly and wonderfully surprised by our 4-day event and the goodness we experienced. For those who have not become acquainted with Bay View Inn, staying here needs to become a hospitality first experience. Coming to the Bay View Inn was our fifth Petroskey experience. Last year we stayed at the Perry Hotel, so my wife and I have experienced the best of the best that Petoskey offers to vacationers. When comparing the Perry to the Bay View, the Perry offers travelers a moment of mid-late 18th century elegance while the Bay Inn takes you back to the Victorian Age with its degree of formalness. As you begin your Bay View experience one encounters the crispness and freshness of the pure Lake Michigan air. Upon entering the Bay View you are welcomed by Bobbie Jo's "very southern like" greeting or Corie who shows the politeness of a true gentleman. Ask either Bettie Jo or Corie anything about the Petoskey-Bayview area, in effect you end up getting walking tour guide for the next fews days. As for dining at the Bay View, all the menu items are outstanding with great flavor and particular attention to taste. Servers offer the best hospitality. You might also meet the most positive enthusiastic person in the Petoskey - Bayview area when you meet Christopher or the high spirit of Rita who is from Romania or the formalness of Tom as well as Andris who is also from Romania who is always there for you with a coffee refill. The rooms are extremely comfortable, Victorian-like styled rooms. One also has access to their library for borrowing a book or two from the library. Nightly entertainment also includes playing any number of games in the downstairs parlor. At night you sleep in the heavenly comfort of either a King or Queen bed. Daytime can be spent in a variety of ways. One can experience the best shopping district in the Midwest including what might be the best privately owned bookstore in Midwest, McLean & Eakin.... plan on making a few visits. For those who like fitness and touring the uniquely architected homes you must experience walking Lake Street to the top of the hill ... .two times.... or for fitness freaks like my wife and myself.... three times selecting a couple other streets. Your walk will be a more friendly "StairMaster" encounter. For flatlanders there is the multi mile bay walk where fresh air will clean out your lungs. So, instead of thinking about staying at the Bay View Inn, just do it.....staying at the Bay View Inn and experiencing Petoskey one be one of your best lifetime experiences.

The ambiance is always stunning, sit on the outdoor patio in the summer and enjoy a great time with friends/family. The service is always top notch. Our go to is the Wagyu Hanger steak. Unfortunately, our dinner tonight was such a disappointment. My steak was over cooked. They changed the recipe to the steak dressing and it just didn't hit. The appetizers were great and no complaints of the service and ambiance, that was still exceptional. I just hope they go back to the old wagyu hanger steak.

Had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. Got seated and waited on pretty quickly. My feeling is if the coffee is good that means someone at the place cares, a good sign. And it was good! I got buttermilk pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage links and hash browns. Loved the sausage (from Plath meats) and eggs were definitely cooked with butter. Yummy! My standard for great pancakes are Cracker Barrel and these were just as good. Only slightly disappointed with hash browns as they seemed from a bag but they were cooked well. My wife had the vegetable skillet which was a layer of hash browns with tomato, green pepper, spinach, onions and then eggs over that which was covered with sausage gravy. All very good. Even the English muffin she got seemed fresh made! Good service and fair prices too. Only knock I could give was food took a bit to come out but I blame that on the holiday weekend crowd.

Staff was attentive and pleasant, and guests were engaged in animated, quiet conversation at their tables. The breakfast sandwiches are phenomenal--see photos for their names and to make your mouth water. I forgot to take a photo of the Dutch baby pancake. Mine was good and the fruit fresh, but if I had a do-over, I'd order a sandwich with potatoes instead because those are some of the best breakfast potatoes I've ever had--perfectly seasoned, crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. My daughter's Dutch baby was sitting in a pool of grease and should have been sent back, but she didn't say anything because she thought it was normal, and by then it was too late. That was the only bummer. It is very small inside, but miraculously we did not have a wait for seven people. You can just pop in for a baked good from their display case or order carryout if you don't have time to sit for breakfast. I encourage you to check Small Batch out!
