While I have to commend the service team, who were fantastic and professional, the experience with the restaurant manager that night was disappointing. I had a confrontation with her that left me feeling unwelcome and regretting my choice of venue. After hosting an event, I had informed the special event manager that my coworker and I would like to stay for dinner to relax. Once we paid our bill, I asked to be seated, only to be told, "You can go put your name on a waiting list, but it's about an hour wait for a table." When I requested to speak with the manager, her response echoed the same, insisting it wouldn't be fair to accommodate us over those already waiting. This manager was inhospitable, unaccommodating, and showed a surprising lack of flexibility in a situation that could have been easily managed. With an extensive background in hospitality and event planning, including a degree in restaurant management, a master's in hospitality, and experience as a restaurant owner and hospitality professor, I was shocked by her lack of customer service. She could have handled it differently by saying, "Let me add you to the list and grab you a drink while you wait," or perhaps, "I'll see if we can find you a spot at the bar." Instead, I was told it was my responsibility to get on the waiting list earlier and that it was "my problem." This manager's lack of care and unwillingness to think creatively completely soured what had been an otherwise enjoyable evening. It's a shame, as the service team did everything right, but for special events, I'd recommend choosing a venue that understands hospitality and makes you feel valued from start to finish. read more

We are in town for a concert and this restaurant was highly recommended on TikTok. Reservations are recommended. We were greeted by a friendly host and seated promptly. However, we didn't receive service until a member of our party inquired about a server. After more than 15 minutes, we were blessed with Nick! Nick is an amazing server. He was attentive, courteous, knowledgeable about the menu, personable and handsome. We ordered the Toast & Jam brunch family style course. It includes, house made pastries, fresh fruit, biscuit & gravy, French toast, peppered bacon, "hot" chicken, frittata, jicama & cucumber salad and roasted fingerling potatoes. This is not traditional family style, you can't ask for more unless you intend to pay extra. We also ordered a Bellini pitcher. When the food arrived, we had high hopes that everything would be delicious because of the rave reviews. On the contrary, most of our food was cold or slightly warm. The highlight was the French toast and "hot chicken". Both were room temperature. The pastries were tiny and not realistically shareable. The fruit (strawberries) were a garnish. The manager, Josh, was very apologetic and he resolved the issues quickly. He also offered a complimentary dessert. Turns out, the 8-layer banana pudding is the real star of the show! It's a mason jar full of homemade custard, layered with sliced banana and vanilla wafers drizzled with caramel and topped with a cloud of fresh whipped cream. It was divine. All in all, we would give them another try. The kitchen just needs to perfect, hot food needs to be served piping HOT and cold food needs to be served ice COLD. Also, the restaurant is pic worthy! She brought me a water refill before I even finished the first sip of my original glass. She handed me the ketchup the exact millisecond I thought, "Hmm, I need ketchup." I have been going to The Rustic periodically since it opened and got stuck in the awesome rut of eating the same hot chicken and cheese sandwich ever since...until yesterday. I had to write a review after i finally experienced The Rustic Brunch! WOWSA! For just 16.95 you get about 9 items served to you and each items is delicious! Salad, quiche, bacon, sausage, hot chicken and fried pickles, grits and gravy, cheeses with honey butter and fruit and french toast! I was seriously blown away when the waiter walked up with the 4 plates/dishes! Service, music and atmosphere are always excellent but again, this brunch had me making sure to post a review...so worth the money! (and thanks to an awesome bar staff, i was talked into venturing out of my comfort zone of the usual awesome sandwich haha! I own a condo a couple of blocks from the upcoming flagship location opening in a couple of weeks in Uptown Park near the Galleria so you can bet me and family and friends will be coming every weekend for The Rustic Brunch! read more

I love the location and vibe of The Rustic. Our server was nice, however it became very apparent that they did not staff correctly for the Sabrina Carpenter crowd. So many empty tables, luckily we had a reservation at 5:45, while others were waiting and by 6:40 pm they were telling people without reservations that they were booked for the night (again so many empty tables). We had water, the appetizer came out before the drinks, then the drinks when only 1/2 of our 4 person table received their food. The ones served first were 1/2 through their meal when the other 2 entrees came out. Food was not as good as the past, and we aren't sure if this was a short staffing issue or the venue is just going down hill. Over all we are not in a hurry to come back. read more

We were a large group that went in with a reservation..the waitress was fine.. They were out of a lot of items on the menu. There were no burgers, except for the salmon. They were out of brisket, which was really a let down with it being a bbq type place. It would have been helpful to know upfront so we could have decided to stay or not. We ordered the carnitas tacos, which you have to have a minimum of 2 people order, had too much of a cinnamon or clove flavor to the meat. It was also very dry.The tortillas were ice cold. I didn't like that the chicken and pork were all served all on the same plate. That could have been an issue if someone had a restriction to pork. A unique place to dine which actually lives up to the expectations, as long as you order the right thing. The ambiance is phenomenal and immersive, and the selections are pretty good for whatever you may want. It's definitely on the pricey side for the portions, but some things, like The Drunk Chick, are well worth it. I definitely also recommend getting it with a side of their shells and cheese, which is one of the best country style Mac and cheese I've had. Service was very nice, they have a button which calls them, and the food didn't take too long to come out. Definitely a place to try once and awhile and bring friends and family out to. Our waitress and the other waitresses were amazingly sweet and caring. Our waitress was super diligent with her tasks and making sure her tables were never waiting for service. She was and is very bubbly and welcoming. I immediately found her soothing to talking to. I have anxiety with crowds and she unknowingly helped me relax and feel more at ease. The food was DELICIOUS! The cooks are awesome! We didn't have to wait for long and our plates came out with no mistakes with our orders. The ambiance was cozy and the outdoor sitting was so nice!
