After taking up walking and running during Covid I found my feet and toes were destroyed so after asking running friends for advice I found the runners shop. They took the time to watch me walk, and run and looked at my old shoes and came up with a plan that has not only worked but been super beneficial for my fitness goals. New shoes, new size, good socks and now I'm all good. Cannot recommend this business or the employees who work here more. Out of nowhere I signed up for a half marathon and then thought about all the things I'd have to buy to prepare and not get injured. Holy guacamole they take their shoes seriously. I went today with the wifey to get some new shoes for her -- she was only 5 years overdue -- and I learned more about shoes and arches and stability in 30 minutes than I ever wanted to know. A serious customer service experience later my wife walked out with her first pair of work out shoes that she truly thought were comfortable and would do the part. I wasnt aware that people had different running feet like neutral or whatever the other two were. I forget because I only remember what I am, and I am a neutral runner! I've been going to The Runner for dang near 40 years. It's great to see a locally owned store still doing business with actual customer interaction and a customer centric focus. I don't get by there as much as I should but my wife always goes there for her shoes. She is very particular and the employees are always patient and attentive to her needs. Years ago when I was a helluva lot more active, I went to the runner several times. However, sorry to say back then that you could usually get some of the same shoes at one of the gazillion shoe stores back in the day and at a fairly good discount. Over the years, I sort of lazily got in the habit of buying whatever was on sale for what I was looking for. Last couple of years, I've found that when you get older, it pays to get some good quality "sports" shoes. I checked around, and while doing so noticed that most local places were now selling at posted retail, unless something was on sale. I moved onto higher end shoes to do my so called "running" in and when I decided to pick up a pair for regular day use, I found no one carried them, but figuring The Runner probably did, I called, and yea, they did. I went in, first time in years. Service is great, people there know more about shoes and feet than you want to find out about. Kind of how I remember it. Also, prices are the same as every place else mostly, especially since there are only about, 4-5 shoe places around, and they aren't discounting anything anyway. While they carried the shoe I was looking for, it was out of stock on my size, however, they offered to order it that day, and it came in within a week. That worked great for me, and considering they were friendly, and very helpful, not sure why I will be going anywhere else in the future. read more

Absolutely fantastic store. Stellar selection and even more stellar service. Until yesterday, I'd stayed away from The Runner because, well, I'm not a runner per se. (I do some running, but mostly do cross-training, weightlifting, yoga, cycling, etc.). I saw no reason to buy athletic shoes here, when I could buy them instead at a larger sporting goods store or shoe store. Finally, tired of those other stores' apathetic service, and knowing I really did need some good help finding the RIGHT shoes this time, I ventured into The Runner on a weekday morning. I was greeted immediately by John, who definitely qualifies as an outstanding employee in any business. He observed my walk and measured my feet -- we discovered that one foot is actually an entire shoe size larger than the other (who knew?). I told him about my workout routine and he got to work finding the right shoes for me. We went through four different brands and sizes before finally finding the right one (a brand I wasn't even familiar with, Mizuno). Of course it's about to be a rainy weekend, and these new shoes are far too beautiful to get wet (yet), but I'm looking forward to wearing them at the gym in a few minutes. I am not a runner by any means but I started walking a couple of months ago. I bought new shoes, ones that I thought were good for you what I was using them for but my feet were constantly aching. Fast forward you today when I decided to stop by the Runner (I had never been there but have known about it for years). John immediately started helping me and gave me a pair of orthopedic shoe inserts to try so I didn't have to spend more money on another pair of new shoes. I took them home and had a dipping issue with them in my own shoes so I went back up there. He was SO helpful. We looked at my current shoe and he told me they weren't good for the kind of waking that I do so he measured my foot, watched me walk, got me a plethora of shoes to try on and laced up each one for me. I walked away with a new pair of shoes that I know will help my pain and posture and I owe it al to John and the runner. Great people, fantastic customer service. I would 100% recommend this place and I won't be shopping for tennis shoes anywhere other than the runner from now on. read more

I came in the store looking for a comfortable pair of running shoes. Hanna (store associate) was very friendly and knowledgeable. She took time to answer all my questions and provided feedbacks. She tried me on about a dozen pairs of shoes and tell me to take my time and if I needed to sleep on my decision then feel free to do so. I was not pressured to buy anything since it was a great investment and they do not get any commission. I ended up with a pair of Nike. She also said to bring them back if they're not comfortable. I went in and was a little intimidated, but this girl greeted us immediately and within 30 minutes (with some questions and looking at my feet/arches/achilles) she knew what type shoe would be best for me. I tried on about 6 pair and narrowed it down to the one. I didn't get her name (long brown hair, tan, very pretty) but she was SO helpful and I didn't feel completely stupid in her world. This place is great! They really take the time to observe how your feet are and give you suggestions based upon that. I unfortunately have pretty flat feet so when it comes to running it's always been a challenge. Felt like I was running on nails at times. I have tried so many different shoe types on my own yet I still had no luck. The idea of getting a shoe slightly bigger than my size seemed odd at first, but I'm glad I did. Found a fair of stability Nike's that worked perfectly for me and the pain I had before is literally gone. The right shoe really does make all the difference folks. read more

Went in a couple of weeks ago to purchase some new running shoes. Walked in on a Sunday (02/16/14), and found that the all the store associates were occupied with other customers getting fitted. I waited my turn, yet was never greeted, or even acknowledged after waiting patiently for over 20 minutes. At this point I thought maybe I should come back another day, so I wound u coming back the next Sunday 02/23/14, and was greeted in the same manner as the last time. No greeting, blank stares, and then maybe after 10 minutes this time, finally one of the associates asked me if I had been helped, but was with another customer. I waited maybe 15 minutes this time, and was finally going to get helped, or so I thought. The associate that helped me was a red headed guy, and was very disrespectful. He attempted to tell me that I didn't need the shoe I was looking at, but rather another shoe, that just so happened to be $160. Every shoe I wanted to try on was either out of stock, they didn't have my size or some other excuse. I will never go back to this place, which is sad considering I only live maybe 2 miles away, within running distance. I believe the sales guy was named Phil. Buyers beware, and spend your hard earned money elsewhere. The return policy here is also ridiculous, and pales in comparison to the other major running stores, which tells me they do not really stand by their products as the other stores do. -poor customer service -poor opinions or suggestions -lack of knowledge read more

I love this store and their wonderful employees. They understand all kinds of foot issues and can tell you what your foot pain might be caused from. In my case, I was wearing shoes that were too narrow for my foot. They will watch you walk and measure both feet. It amazes me that they tell me the same things that my sports doctor is telling me.
