I was recommended this place by a friend and decided to stop by while in the area. The dance shop is tucked away in a small section of local businesses. I was greeted quickly when I entered the store and a young lady assisted me in finding the right shoe size. They have UK sizes for shoes and she shared her recommendations with me. I appreciate that they offer shoe sizing, which is complimentary if you buy shoes from them. I bought dance shoes in a mocha bliss tone in a size down which worked well for my ballet class. Disappointed on their willingness to work with online customers. On my order page it said 35 days for refunds. Not only were they initially wanting to hold me to a 14 day return that is posted elsewhere on their website but the manager was snippy when I requested that they honor the 35 days posted on the actual order page. Once she heard that, she then responded that the garment was not returnable because it was underwear (It's basically a training bra that doesn't fit my daughter.) I am curious what is unhygienic about that- it is definitely not underwear! Do they not let girls try on leotards and bras at their in person store and then put them back on the rack if not purchased? Needless to say we will not be purchasing from them again and I would recommend they stick to in person retail sales until they can manage online service in a more equitable manner. (And hopefully they have now changed their return days message on the order page so that they do not misinform other online customers.) read more

I have been going to the dance shop for years. We have been fitted for toe shoes incorrectly and had to absorb the cost ourselves-but felt that the DS was the best place to get what we needed. After having Valerie fit my daughter we have been semi satisfied. The store is always a bit unhelpful and never eager to cater to your needs. Since COVID they have become increasingly less customer service oriented and we have decided NEVER to go back again. I would not recommend the Dance Shop to anyone. They have no sense of customer service or customer satisfaction. This is just not about face masks. It is about customer service in general. I prefer to take my business to establishments that do not live in fear-TDS may never recover from a life lived in fear. Maybe that is why your employees have trouble interacting with the customer-The handling of COVID now that the mask mandate has been lifted is just the straw that broke the camel's back. We live far away and are downtown today for dress rehearsal, my daughter is in the nutcracker at Will Rogers. Unfortunately she left her shoes in the studio across town and I was in a panic because there wasn't time to get shoes before rehearsal let alone the actual performance in the morning. Very disappointed in their unwillingness to work with online customers. They offer a rewards program on pointe shoes.... buy 3 get 1 free, but you can only place 1 pair of pointe shoes in your cart and are prompted to call the store for bulk orders. I called the store and tried to order 3 pairs of pointe shoes and was told I would now need to pay shipping for the shoes and would not be able to get the offer of free shipping for online orders of $100.00 or more since I was not ordering online. How can I order online if you don't allow me to place the items in my cart????!!! After reading other reviews it seems like this is the kind of stuff this shop does! Valerie was unwilling to even consider offering me free shipping, even though their online system would not allow me to place an order. I called today to inquire about leotards for girls at 9:00 a.m.;I was unable to pick up the items until 6:30 p.m. In spite of the time span, the gentleman whom assisted us automatically knew what I called for. I used to like this store, but after my experience with them yesterday I'd advise you to take your shoe fittings elsewhere, as they are the first dance store to charge me a fitting fee. They also chose to tell me AFTER my fitting about the $25 fee, rather than before. They asked me after my fitting if I was buying in-store. I mentioned that I wasn't sure, but I'd be checking on Discount Dance, after which I was told about the fitting fee. I asked if I could see the specifics about the shoe I had chosen, but they did not give them to me, instead saying they'd "entered the details into the system for 'when I came in to buy them.'" I wrote an email requesting a refund, then received a call from the owner, who proceeded to say that while what I experienced was unfair, I was being unfair by getting the shoes elsewhere after being fitted there. I told him my problem was with not being told about the charge before the fitting, but he continued to say that I was being unfair, compared my actions to stealing and making me feel guilty. He compared it to getting a haircut and "deciding you don't want to pay for it," to which I said, "If I were going in for a haircut, I would expect to be paying for it." I understand his argument, but I did not appreciate the sneaky charge or the way I was treated afterward. All this ultimately got me nowhere and I was not given a refund. I was told they would refund my fitting charge if I returned in the next week and bought the shoes, which I do not intend to do. I didn't even get the information from my fitting that I was looking for (sizing, vamp, box, heel, etc.). read more

We have been shopping here for a couple of years now. The sales people have always been super nice and helpful.

I've shopped here a few times and spent hundreds every time for my daughter. They always seem very short and like you're wasting their time when you ask questions. I called to ask if they do any sort of price matching (because they are more expensive than other stores). First, the guy answered like it was a pain that he had to answer the phone. It was obvious I was on speaker. He asked what the price match was. I replied the other store gives 20% off, and if they matched, I would come there if they have her size (other store was out of stock). He replied "Well we only do 10%". I said "Ok, I will just wait on the other store and buy from them. Tha..." He cuts me off and says "uh huh." And HANGS UP. I will NEVER give them my business again. RUDE RUDE RUDE. I know this won't make a difference to these obviously snobby people, but at least I can save some kind and non-snobby people the trouble of being treated like crap. read more
