Well, the rock is always a beautiful place to go even inside and if you have nice sweater and sit outside, it's very very nice by the river, but the food has definitely went down in quality. I had a Reuben. It was a little teeny tiny slices of what I would call lunch meat, not appetizing and didn't taste very well. Either either my husband had a burger. It looked like a burger patty out of a frozen bag it didn't even look like they made their own burgers so I was not impressed with the food and the service was OK. Nothing great about that. Either came over took our order brought the food said thank you do you need anything else and that was about it so I'm not impressed anymore it used to be a wonderful place to go and eat not so much anymore. I don't know what's happened. Probably won't go back anytime soon. read more

Was in Rockford visiting family. My Brother said you have to meet me at this great bar/restaurant in Beloit! Loved the vibe the place had. iIt was on Sunday so the football games were on. The place is very bright. The cocktails were great. I had a long island iced tea that was spot on! We all loved our meals. My sister-in-law had bangin shrimp tacos that she said were delicious. I had the BLT ranch wrap, which was the best one I've ever had.! And my brother had the boneless chicken wings that he said hit the spot! The service was fantastic. Very attentive. The manager was SO kind to accommodate us and our dog on our road trip. We came here and have our dog with us but the bees outside were swarming so he found a little corner tucked away and allowed us to sit down and eat. Food was also awesome. Enjoyed lunch at the Rock Bar & Grill. Especially enjoyed the view by the river and it being "dog friendly ". I had a yummy Italian Beef sandwich with fries and my lunch mate had the roast beef stew sandwich. The Italian Beef sandwich came with au jus for dipping. Haven't been here since the remodel... it is very open and light, bright, but now reminds me of a hospital cafeteria with many game time TVs for sports fans! Prices have jacked up quite a bit and some faves were missing. The server had server seemed clueless. Hubby inquired about a Beyond Meat patty and the server had no clue what he was talking about and refused to ask the kitchen... even after he mentioned that in the past it was never on the menu. Food was Luke warm and adequate, nothing to write home about. The service was very slow, even though it was quite empty for lunch hour. We waited almost 15 minutes for an appetizer and then almost 20 more minutes for lunch. read more

What has happened to the Rock? Their burgers used to be amazingly good. Not so last night. I don't know what you are serving but is was probably the worst burger I have ever had. Should have sent it back and gotten something else instead of choking it down. All other meals at the table seemed to be good though. Do not order a burger..... I had the deep fried cod w/au gratin potatoes. Fish was under done & au gratins was nothing more that has browns wth some cheese spred on top. Tasteless. My husband had the dep fried cod w/ potato pancakes. Cod again was under done & potato pancakes were nothing more than some tasteless hasbrowns mixed some egg batter. Granddaughter ordered a buffalo chicken wrap. Order came out a ceasar wrap & sent it back. Then to top this off we got the wrong bill. Seems they got their head up their backside. Thiswas at 1PM & place was not that busy. Their remodel job looks great but they need to work on someone in the kitchen that can cook. read more

I'm originally from Beloit Wisconsin. We were back for a family reunion and stopped into the rock a couple days ago. We love the atmosphere and the drinks are really good. We ordered dinner. I decided on ordering the half rack of ribs which the waitress told us was her brother's favorite on the menu. My wife got the chicken and crab sandwich with a bowl of mushroom soup. Hers was phenomenal. Really good. With my ribs, I got a baked potato with everything. As you can see from the short clip videos, the ribs were unbelievably dry. When I ate the first one it was just literally crust I thought maybe that was just because it was the end and so I pulled it apart in the middle and there was hardly any meat it was just all crust and you can see from the video the top was just a big piece of crust. The baked potato was obviously re-warmed up and also very crusty. It was probably a half inch from the skin in that you couldn't even eat so I had probably a 2 inch amount of potatoes to eat .I called the waitress back and showed her the ribs and she says I'm so sorry they're not usually like that. Let me take it back to the manager. She came back after talking with the manager and said we're gonna take that off your bill. Would you like anything else? I told her no that I was good just really disappointed. I would've thought the manager would come out to the table and also offer an apology for what came out of his kitchen. He never came out. They did take it off the bill which is great, but I just thoughtnumber one who lets that go out of the kitchen that way and number two why would a manager after seeing that and knowing that Customer is dissatisfied not go to the table and talk to the customer. I know this is a very popular spot in Beloit and whenever we're back, we go there, but this meal was super disappointing, and I was also disappointed in the way that it was handled. read more

Does this place have new owners? Ordered a $13.99 mushroom Swiss and it didn't even come with fries. Yes I ordered a $2.50 cup of soup that I paid for separately. This is the second time I've been there in two weeks and was rushed out the door by getting the bill half way through a beer. Excited to try - never got the chance. 4 adults seated outside patio at a small table (not a four top, but better suited for two). We had time to read the menu, discuss it with each other, and choose our entrees before the waitperson came for our drink order. We asked for a bigger table and she told us they were all the same size- we pointed out that the two tables next to us were indeed much bigger. She got annoyed, stormed away, and another staff member brought us to a larger table, in the sun, without an umbrella and that was the last we saw any staffers. After around 30 minutes we left. Original waitperson was named Angelica. The host who seated us was Payton. We are currently on our way to another restaurant. Really wish we could have tried the food! What a shame. read more

We stopped by on our drive to Madison to get some food and watch the nba game. The jumbo bone in wings were surprisingly amazing. I was in the neighborhood after driving up from Northern Illinois and popped in to the Rock Bar and Grill. I am very glad that I did! It was around mid day so it was a little busy with a lunch rush but not terribly so. I grabbed the fish fry and a tall Spotted Cow. I was in heaven. Lots of TV screens, great atmosphere, nice cold beer, tasty food. What more can you ask for from a pub? The next time I'm in the area I will definitely be back. We just ate at The Rock just like we have a million times in the past. However, it seems the highlight anymore is only the outdoor seating on a nice day. The inside was redone and stripped of all character and additional seating seems to had been added. The menu just keeps getting smaller and the dishes less interesting. In my opinion, the best item on the menu was the N'Awlins wrap... then that was eliminated. Then the next best was the Cesar Salmon Wrap. I think that is what it was called. It was really good! But skip the sweet potato fries. They are never done right, usually soggy, occasionally burnt, so in between. It's best to get the regular fries. They are seasoned very well. So it seems every time I come back I like it a little less. This time my wrap was missing from the menu. I struggled to pick something new out from the very limited menu. I tried the Smokehouse Chicken wrap. Sadly, I have to report it was mediocre. I mainly ended up eating the fries. The recipes just are not interesting enough. I just wish they would be more creative! Try a little harder! They used to be so cool and have a bar outside on the patio. They played Jimmy Buffett and it felt so fun and relaxing. Now it's bland. They have such a great spot but they are not reaching their full potential. I'll probably be back, but it will be because someone else wants to go, not me. read more

We reserved the pavilion at The Rock Bar & Grill for a wedding rehearsal dinner and are so glad we did. Jen was really helpful getting our reservation set up and arranging food, including working with us for all the different dietary restrictions our guests had. The space was big enough for all 60 of our guests and the food was excellent! Many of our guests told us how nice the location was right on the river and how good the food was (which isn't always a given when catering a buffet for a large number of people). We would definitely go back and would recommend them for any event. read more
