I went to Beloit College, and loved Doc's while I was there, but it had been about 3 years before I'd been there. My dad and I decided to make a drive to go grab lunch, and we don't regret it! The food is just as good as we remember. I had the Italian beef sandwich and made it a combo meal to get fries and a drink, he got the Turkey Bacon Ranch Sub. Both of these were delicious, they are a bit messy, so grab some napkins While the dine in seating was pretty quiet, the drive thru is obviously quite popular for lunch. It's a standard fast food type atmosphere, so there isn't much to comment on. It did take a while for us to get our food, but I think that's due to the lunch rush and number of drive thru orders. Well, the first thing I gotta say is this menu is from 1952. They want $15 for a stupid salad with a couple pieces of chicken sprinkled on it. Needless to say I canceled my order. Fantastic burgers with crisp lettuce and flavorful pickles and tomatoes. A fast food atmosphere, but better than most. We stayed at a nearby hotel on our way back to Minnesota and wanted to eat somewhere unique. Doc's was the closest, so it came up first when I searched for restaurants, and after reading about it, I didn't even look at the other results. We were not disappointed. This is a tough place to rate! I really must say with a tone of sadness, because I have a couple of thoughts. First of all, it's more fast food. Sorta like Smashburger. You order at the counter, go to your seat, they bring your food over. Refill soda machine's over at the side, go over as often as needed. Come in with that expectation and not a sit-down restaurant. On that note, I won't be commenting on atmosphere, since it sure feels like a standard fast-food joint. Service was relatively quick on all our orders, getting us out in nice time to head out for the rest of the afternoon. Sometimes two people on the same order got food at different times. Sometimes one thing came out followed by the other, but it was always pretty quick. Food... mixed. It's inexpensive, but that reflects in the food. I got one of the sandwiches, subbed cheese curds for the fries, and added a second order of cheese curds. Unfortunately, the curds are deep-fried here, thick breading, overwhelms the curd. I hate to say it in the Curd State but these are my least favorite curds ever. I still like them. I will never dislike fried curds. But these are at the bottom because of that breading. The sandwich, since I don't remember anything about it (or if it was a burger instead haha), is automatically 4 stars. So that's a wrap. I wouldn't feel right giving this place 3 stars. It's not pretending to be more than what it is: a local fast food joint centered on local tastes. That puts it above chains and it's a great bang for your buck, so 4 stars makes sense. read more

Apparently you only get acknowledged and serviced at the drive through. We went inside because we wanted to sit at a table and eat. We stood by the counter where orders are supposedly to be taken. People in the kitchen looked directly at us, person at the drive thru looked directly at us. No one acknowledge us at all, even though we indicated that yes, we were actually wanting to order food to eat. While they appeared to be short-handed, that could be acceptable, if any one of them had at the minimum acknowledged our existence and let us know they would eventually help us. read more

Great hamburger joint even though they have chicken sandwiches that I will try later. I ordered the swissburger: 2 pcs of patties with swiss cheese. I had to take a client to Beloit, WI. Shoot me now!!! After the trip there, I was very hungry and had no idea where to go in Beloit to eat. I looked on my phone and my fellow yelpers gave this place 4 stars. So I told myself "Self, let's check the place out." I was a little nervous about the place because only one another person was eating there. I ordered two cheeseburgers, fries, cheese curds. These two pattied smash burgers were some of the juiciest, seasoned, delicious, hot burgers I have ever had. Oh my goodness! I had the place to myself with tv's on the Sox's playoff win. What a good moment! Service was decent. Fries were hot and delicious. Stay away from the cheese curds. They are nasty. Juicy cheeseburgers is what the Doc prescribed!!!!! These burgers are insane!! Absolutely life-changing, to put it lightly. The best part of Beloit is this restaurant! A new staple on my Wisconsin drives down I-90. I'd eat my own ass if someone could convince me it tasted as good as Doc's amazing, life-changing cheeseburgers!! Great small town fast food place, in a sea of nationwide mediocre chains. If you have ever gotten off I90/I39 or I43 in Beloit you're familiar with how many of the restaurants right off the interstate are your typical anywhere in the country fast food places. I wanted something quick to eat, but didn't want the typical place you can get anywhere which is why Doc's stood out. It was my first time trying docs and I can say, I will be back. The lady who took my order was extremely nice and helpful as I had a question of two about the menu. While I was at the window she hit me with the "here's your ____ hun" the entire time and it made me smile. She was really awesome and sold the whole experience for me. The food was pretty tasty, I had a swissconsin and a regular fry. The fries compare to Wendy's new fries, nothing crazy but hot and fresh. The burger was fantastic though, the minute I opened it I knew it was going to be good. From the melted still hot cheese dripping to the tangy yet subtle "Doc sauce" that it was topped with. Between the sweet lady with tattoos and piercings at the window to the fresh food, it was a 10/10 in my book and I'll be back for sure! read more

We called in our order and the background noise of yelling made it hard to hear when my order was being read back to me. The person on the phone even ask the others to keep it down several times. I then went to pick up my order, like before, I skipped the speaker. By doing this I didn't know it meant I would be ignored at the window for over 10 minutes. After making eye contact with an employee several times and honking my horn. This girl comes over and gives me a major attitude. She told me if I want service I needed to stop at the speaker and let them know I'm there. Really!! I'm right in front of the window and you're looking right at me! I returned to work and told everyone about my experience, two different people said the employee's are the reason they won't go there. Apparently they don't have management, I tried many times calling to talk to a manager and get the same attitude. We don't have one, or they be here in like 2 or 3 hours. When you visit Beloit, visit Doc's. Super friendly staff and delicious food. Settled in amongst chain restaurants. Hand made patties on the burger. I had the Zesty Burger and Mom had the Southwest Chicken Wrap. We both had the seasoned fries, mine with cheese. The food came out hot and drool-worthy. Didnt get pics because we were hangry. The burger: two patties, cheese, bacon, pickles, red onion, jalepenos, spicy mayo. The bun was *just* soft enough. And biting into it left the faintest trail of grease sliding down my arm. Gah, so good. Mom says her wrap was flavorful, packed tight, and "just enough to fill her up" without her feeling stuffed. 5 stars for the food, -3 stars for the service (from the owner) This dude is quite the penny pincher, man. Here's what I normally order since I am low carb 2 or 3 hamburger patties with cheese on them. That's it. No toppings, no bun, nothing else. I can get this at Wendy's or Mcdonald's right next door for around $1.25 for a hamburger patty and around $0.50 for cheese. Well, the owner of doc's refuses to allow it to be rung up in this fashion, and insists it can only be done as a FULL PRICE MENU BURGER. This means I am now paying for the bun, the toppings, and everything else in a premium price and just getting meat and cheese. This isn't fair. Until the owner decides he wants to be competitive and provide fair pricing and not try and milk their customers out of every last dollar he possibly can, I will not be returning. read more

I have been here twice in 2 weeks on my way back from Chicago to Minneapolis. The burgers are amazing! I have had their swissconsin twice and it's truly one of the best burgers I have had. Although this is a premature review, I feel the need to contribute. Doc's opened just recently and it serves a product we all love and adore....Burgers I went in to exclusively try their signature burger, the Doc's Rx...to start with the burger alone is $8, I didn't change anything just got it as is. After about 7-8 min I had my individual burger, wrapped in tin foil, ready to be devoured. I have to say it was pretty damn good. The bun of the bread was soft and flavorful, the juices of the burger were dripping out. It was oozing with cheddar cheese and pickled jalapeños. The meat was significant and flavorful. I didn't feel the need to add ketchup or mustard. Unlike 5 guys, it is a single patty, but I feel like an $8 burger should have a little more substance, but the combination of flavor profiles made it with it. The restaurant itself is a modern look with exposed beams and designed so you order your food and sit with a number so it is delivered to your table. They have a large assortment of sandwiches, subs and sides. They even have ice cream on the side with a Pepsi machine. I will return to further evaluate the menu options available and give a more comprehensive review. For now, based on burger alone I would say it is a solid 3.5-4 stars. I heard good things about this place from a friend, so I stopped in to pick up a Caesar salad for lunch today. Other Yelpers have mentioned the wait, but it didn't bother me. The wait time is similar to fast casual restaurants like a Panera. I was quite pleased with the salad-fresh chicken, garlic croutons, and roasted red peppers, and crispy romaine.
