Since I'm moving to Rockford, the roomies and I took a trip out to explore the different neighborhoods we might be living in, we were hungry and saw this place, decided let's try it! Well, here's the review : Food (2/5) Oh man, I hate to do this but let me break down what we ordered and their results. Gyro no onions (my order) : honestly, so messy, dry meat (but they did load it up) and what was the sauce? It didn't seem like any tzatziki sauce I've ever seen nor had, and I've had a lot of gyros in my life. Also, I swear I tasted pepperoni pizza when I was eating my gyro, and I didn't realize my roomie ordered a pizza puff, so I'm thinking they were next to each other before being wrapped up. 6 piece hot wings (roomies order) : wings are dry (so don't expect saucy wings, maybe they do if you ask?) and they were fried and spicy but otherwise flavorless chicken, but no gross gristle at-least. 3 steak tacos (roomies order) : no. Just, no. Steak was salty and these should be eliminated off their menu, DONT have street tacos on a menu if you can't make them decent! Philly cheesesteak (roomie order) : he liked this one, nothing great, but he finished it. Pizza puff (roomies order) : another never order again. We've had better at a gas station in Antioch. Environment (5/5) I rank solely on my drive thru experience. Parking lot is tiny and first menu doesn't work, but nice to get an idea of their wide range of menu items. Drove up to window, ordered, was asked to pull up and proceeded to wait 10 minutes for our order. The building is reminiscent of old drive thrus that are long gone in most areas, so aesthetically I love the old school look, but I can't vouch for anything inside. Price (2/5) I understand these times have hit small business' exponentially and costs have risen, but after this order it totaled $38 and some change, it just wasn't worth it. I will pay for good food but this all was just mehhhh. Overall (3/5) I'll give them another chance, but next time it's going to be just a cheeseburger. I know some places specialize in certain items, but when the menu is so overwhelming and is obviously serving items that are just not good.. rethink the menu and know your weakness'. Congrats on staying alive and I hope my review can help a future menu overhaul or at-least help someone with their future order! Out here for the weekend and needed some fast grub for our family of 4. The burgers were so greasy that the papers bag was soaked through by the time we got home (6 mins away.) definitely yummy. I just tried this place for the first time, and everything was fine. I had a gyro and fries that were cooked exactly how I asked. Gyro was on the small side...but anyone that believes that any restaurant, anywhere, ever served a gyro with just four pieces of meat is as idiotic as the person that wrote that. Reviewers with serious personality flaws have no idea how readily they are dismissed. Best French fries in the state, great burgers,great pizza puffs, Chicago style hot dogs,Italian beef and a ton more great food. This place might be small ,but it's a delicious old fashioned restaurant and they have drive thru. Try it for yourself, you find yourself coming back for more. read more

I have been coming here since I was a kid. The hot wings are on the best in town for the fried breaded kind not the saucy type. They are actually spicy too which is great. Only downside to this place for me is the drive through has been the same ever since I started eating here 20 years ago it could use an update. My car is nice and low and the drive through is a gamble for me but worth it. read more

Very disappointed today. Ordered a maxwell polish. I think it could have been presented a little better if the two yOung ladies were not looking at the phone, playing and just not paying attention. Food is coming less portioned and service is ehhh... When Harry was there amazing conversations to brighten anyone's day was available. Still like the food but the comfortable feeling when Harry was around makes the difference in overall service. read more

Terrible customer service. Ordered 3 steak tacos in the drive through, got home to see they gave me the wrong order. Called to tell them and the girl on the phone told me she repeated my order when handing it to me which is lie and it was my fault because I didn't listen and took it home. They gave me the option to drive 20 minutes back there and get the tacos, no offer to make anything right like 99% of other businesses do. Only after I told them I'd be leaving them a bad review did they offer to credit the tacos, told them no thanks and I was already over it and the way they treated me, saying I was at fault because they told me they were handing me a philly sandwich instead of tacos. Shouldn't be up to the customer to make sure the order they are handing you is the thing you ordered and not something completely dofferent. Their food is great but being treated like an asshole for their mistake is ridiculous and bad business practice. read more

Im from chicago but have been living in Wis. for many years ! I would rather cook and eat at home than to eat out .i've always said if i was back in the city id eat out everyday !you just cant get GOOD food around here .And then i just happen to walk in MR J"S One day and as soon as i walked in i knew immediately by the smell i had found home !A gold mine as far as i was concerned and oh how right i was !!!! The best hamburgers you've ever eat reminded me of a little stand i use to go to on the north side of chicago !But there BEEFS oh my GOD !They even tasted better than the ones i was having brought to me "from" chicago! They tasted like back when i was a kid ! And there even better if you freeze them and eat them days later .It got so bad we were going to MR J"s 3 times a week ! And every time we went we would get hamburgers,polish,hot dogs,or beefs to eat there BUT buy like 6 beefs to go and freeze them and eat them and as soon as we ran out go do it again!!! Hell we might have gone out once every 2 to 3 mnths. to eat some where for pizza or something .But we got addicted to MR Js and then the kids caught us and then they got addicted to where we had to stop our selves and only go as a treat !It was like a dam crack addict we had to get that next hit of beef sandwich lol!IM NOT KIDDING !And everyone weve taken there feels the same way ! Every once in a while you need to eat something bad for you. Mr J's will take care of this need for you. Awesome Polish sausage, Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, and such. The best tasting hot dogs without traveling to Chicago which of course, is the hot dog capital. Steamed buns, not too much mustard, great relish, and of course, NO KETCHUP which as every good Chicagoan knows, should never be placed on a hot dog. read more
