Still the local GOAT of gyros. Can't beat the value too. Employees have actually been very nice the last few years so I'm impressed at the intentionality behind the increased customer service. Will always be a staple as a taste of Rockford.

Italian beef was a solid 7.5/10, gyro was lacking the greasiness that I expected but was still good overall. The saganaki didn't look like anything special but was absolutely delicious and exceeded my expectations.

When the late night hunger hits get your fix at uncle Nicks! Could possibly be the largest slice of baklava I've ever seen, and I'm not complaining. It was very tasty as well. No complaints here. Great fires and great mozz sticks on the drive home. Rockford staple.

Came here late one night after being out with some friends. I was told this is all part of the Rockford experience and it did not disappoint. There were a lot of cars waiting for their food when we got there, but the wait was not very long. I ordered chicken nuggets, a gyro sandwich, jalapeño poppers and some fries which I shared with my sister and one other girl - those didn't last. Portions are good, I actually tried to save the second half of my gyro sandwich but one of the guys found it and finished it! Anyway, this is probably one of the better places I've been to in Rockford.

The food was delicious and fresh, The customer service was excellent as he brought the food out to my car for me, it gives you an old school type of setting that feels refreshing to the eyes! I ran in for a refill and he greeted me kindly and seemed excited about it! Overall great experience and I will be back! PS. The mozzarella sticks might be the best I've ever had!!!!

The gyro with extra Mozzarella cheese for $6.17 is pretty good. The meat is tender and savory. I'm more about the pizza puff, which only cost $2.49. Mine was a little overcooked when I got it, but it tasted ok. Other items on the menu includes: Italian beef, meatball sandwich, burgers, hot dogs, chicken pita wrap, chicken tenders, hot wings, Philly cheese steak, fish sandwich, and Greek salad to name a few. There is no indoor seating but they had tables with umbrella outside. ....| \ _ , , , - - , , _ , .../ , ` . - ' ` ' . _ \ - ; ; ; , _ ..| , a - ) ) _ . ; . I always try to make Uncle Nicks. Baklava second to none. Best gyros in northern Illinois. Always a great experience!

I became violently ill after eating there after Stroll on state. Worst food poisoning of my life. Good news is that I lost 5 pounds.

Highlights at our table included the mushroom yakitori, an indulgently cheesy shrimp Asiago, an imaginative re-interpretation of steak frites, and a savory chicken crêpe. Even though we were full, we couldn't resist the passion fruit cloud--and it was an absolute home run. Service, led by Destiny, was impeccable. I also appreciate that a 20% gratuity is automatically included on the bill; we were more than happy to add a bit extra in cash on top.

They actually sounded terrible, but I didn't order them. I had one bite and admittedly liked them more than I had thought I would. - Duck Nachos: Good. These are served as very large chips with toppings - so more like eating a street taco. They were good. - Ravioli Daily Feature: Good - Mushroom Yakitori: Ok. Use of the word yakitori seemed unnecessary. Not bad, but least important dish of the night. - Chicken Crepe: Good - NY Strip: Very good. Nice sauce. Service was good and attentive. As a business dinner, I wasn't quite as discerning about the food as I normally am, but I generally had a good impression of everything. If I was back in town, I would definitely consider coming back.

The buns were toasted which made mine dry. The sandwich itself was dry throughout. It had some kind of sauce sparingly on both sides of the burger. It wasn't served with ketchup, which is fine, if there is something to make it moist enough. Maybe if the sandwich had had more than one tomato. I asked for fruit instead of the fries and the fruit was wonderful - strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, cantaloupe, pineapple. Another person had a lovely salad, which I didn't catch the name of, but I'm sure the unique part of it was that it had beets on top. The final person had the Nashville Fried Chicken Sandwich. He felt the sandwich was left in the fryer a little too long. Jamie H was our waiter and he was very attentive. He came and filled our drinks before they were even empty. Made sure we were happy with everything. Big problem!!! All they had left for dessert, at lunchtime, was 3 different sorbets. Very disappointing!!!

I was planning to hit up any fast food joint to cure my hunger, but to my surprise, parked adjacent to the parking lot was a big, blue food truck called "The Olive Branch." At 15 degrees Fahrenheit, the idea of standing outside for more than 30 seconds was unappealing, but my hunger was a bigger problem. With my wife in tow, I didn't want to have her sit and make her wait for me, but she asked if I wanted to order food from the truck. With her blessing, I decided to pull the trigger and walk over. I do love Mediterranean food, and to point out the obvious, this food truck was definitely that...but the first thing I noticed as I approached was "HOT CHOCOLATE $3" in big letters on the ordering window. I immediately decided that instant that I didn't know what I was eating yet, but I knew what I was going to wash it down with! The special, also posted on the window, was "Gyro Tacos" - and it showed a picture of two taco-looking items, but I assumed they had gyro fixings instead of taco meat. So, I told the nice lady, "Give me a hot chocolate and the special." I asked her, "Can you make those fast?" and she didn't hesitate. Within 2.5 seconds, she threw three tortillas on the cooking surface, and I was already thinking, "Hmm, three tortillas, not two - YASSS!" They accepted Apple Pay, so I appreciated their technological savvy in 2025. You know what else? She was so nice, she gave me a discount on the hot chocolate for no reason at all! All in all, I waited less than five minutes for the tacos. To fight the cold, I stood in the sun, rotating my body 180 degrees every 15-20 seconds. Meanwhile, amazing smells oozed out of the cracks of the food truck. After a quick moment, she handed me the "to-go" box and hot chocolate. I went back to my Jeep and opened the box. The tacos were neatly and skillfully assembled, visually packed to the gills. I basically devoured them like a dog being introduced to a perfectly seasoned, medium rare Tomahawk Steak at his last meal. They tasted like high-quality ingredients, very flavorful, with yummy, flaky, light feta cheese sprinkled on top. The hot chocolate was also the bomb. Afterwards, I felt full and satisfied. I don't normally tip the owner/chef/operator (which I assumed who this person was), but I decided to do so anyways due to their generosity. It was appreciated. If you're downtown and see this bright blue truck, swing by and say Joe sent you. I'd recommend this food truck to anyone. Thx for the extra taco and the discounts! I wish you luck through the winter!

To support local business, I would have given this truck four stars until the chef added insult to injury by asking for a tip! To do what? And in case you paid cash - so they couldnt shake you down to add a tip to a card - they've conveniently placed a tip jar at the window for any change you receive. Greedy guy won't get any more business from me.
