Not to mention a large variety of event spaces too. Turns out this is a prohibition era brewery! So cool! We ordered the cheese curd appetizer and it was delicious. My wife had their American burger and that was excellent too! Perfectly cooked, tomato, lettuce, thick cut pickles, and cheese!

I ordered a flight so I could sample many. The samples were large. The food was excellent. Menu options extend beyond typical pub fare. We started with the fried pickle chips which were actual chips and not pickle spears like some places offer. I ordered the POKE BOWL WITH KOREAN FRIED CHICKEN. It was super delicious. Two things we didn't like about Ernie's: the lack of vegetarian option on the menu and the level of noise. I got the chicken salad and skipped the chicken, but I didn't see any other entrees that were vegetarian. The other thing that made it tricky was a whole restaurant trivia night event happening that we didn't know about. There was no indication. Just after placing our orders, the emcee came out with a microphone and shouted for the next 30 minutes. Disney trivia, I think. Or something about cartoons or old movies with bears. I'm not sure. We couldn't hear each other speak. I startled every time he shouted questions or answers. I had to cover my ears. It was rough! We asked the server if she could ask him to lower the setting on the mic, or at least stop shouting into it, but she said that wasn't possible. So we super quickly ate half our meals and left as soon as we could. Drinks were good though. I got a mango cider, a really unique flavor that was crisp and delicious. That was the best part of our short visit to a very noisy Ernie's in Rockford.

They actually sounded terrible, but I didn't order them. I had one bite and admittedly liked them more than I had thought I would. - Duck Nachos: Good. These are served as very large chips with toppings - so more like eating a street taco. They were good. - Ravioli Daily Feature: Good - Mushroom Yakitori: Ok. Use of the word yakitori seemed unnecessary. Not bad, but least important dish of the night. - Chicken Crepe: Good - NY Strip: Very good. Nice sauce. Service was good and attentive. As a business dinner, I wasn't quite as discerning about the food as I normally am, but I generally had a good impression of everything. If I was back in town, I would definitely consider coming back.

The best part of the restaurant is the draft wall. You can choose from multiple types of beer, mixed drinks, or straight liquor for mixing yourself. It added fun to the experience pouring your own beverages. The bar is very spacious and allows for multiple seating scenarios from high tops to regular chairs, to couches. We also tried a drink flight along with a Bloody Mary, which was a fun way to sample a few different flavors instead of committing to just one drink. Everything looked just as good as it tasted. The atmosphere is cute and cozy and definitely has more character than your typical brunch spot. I also liked that the menu has items you don't see everywhere else in Rockford.
