Extremely friendly service! Old style bar that reminds you of your grandpas basement. Lots of regulars who seemed to know each other. Drinks were cold and well made. Menu seemed all over the place- regular bar menu - burgers, wings, fried appetizers. Then you have entrees you would find at a more higher end restaurant- grilled pork chips, salmon, fried chicken, jumbo shrimp to a Prime Rib special (on Saturday night). Ordered the nachos to start out with- good but nothing special- and a smaller portion than I would expect- could have used more chips. All others seemed to enjoy their food but we ended up going across the street for dinner- nothing stood out to us there. Would be willing to give another try- just wasn't feeling the menu. read more

I used to get the Prairie Street Chicken sandwich or the dinner each time I ate there. It was excellent. It's a butterfly 2 breasts sandwich or dinner, smothered in grilled onions, grilled mushrooms and bacon with mozzarella melted over it all. . Now it's been bought out by another person. It's good enough but isn't the same. It tastes good but it's actually patties instead of actual butterfly chicken breast. It's much thinner, as patties usually are. The price is different too, an increase, of course. If you've never eaten there before you'll like it. A remodel is happening which is good, no more deer heads hanging on the walls. read more

Just wanted to say that Fibs in Rockton has done a fabulous job of remodeling the place. I consider their Fish Fry to be the best in the area. If you haven't been there for a while you won't be disappointed at all with the new owners. We hope to stop in some Saturday evening for their Prime Rib special real soon. read more

I ordered a Bloody Mary it only had an olive in it that's it.It was horrible I should've sent it back.The waitress acted like it was hard for her to be nice.She never asked us if we would like or needed anything else. I ordered a house salad which had some nasty kind of greens for lettuce,never again will I eat their salad.I ordered some French onion soup and it had very little cheese and no croutons in it,it was also horrible.Dont waste your money here go somewhere else.The place needs remodeling real bad too.It use to be a busy place but not any more I go on Saturday and it's not busy like you think it would be. If you are looking for a burger it's ok but this is not the place to go for fish or fried shrimp dinner. The service is slow although friendly. We had breaded mushrooms as an appetizer they were very big and came with 6 an order - taste was decent but nothing special. Their side salad that comes as a side is very generous and included cheese, croutons, tomato. Overall it seems to be a staple to the small town and probably loved by them. This is a very common stop for me in the Rockton area. As far as dining options within downtown Rockton, this is one of the better ones I know of. Pros (at time of review): + Decent menu, and they will do specials to change things up. Full bar. Never have had a bad meal + Good Friday all you can eat fish fry + Staff has always been satisfactory. Good with take out + Upstairs space for larger events Cons: - Hideous parking situation. What can I say? Stopped here on a Saturday night because my daughter needed some crab legs. We were told we could sit anywhere, so we went to the back. After a few minutes we decided it was way too cold back there and the ceiling tiles had a lot of water damage on them, making me wonder if there was a mold issue. We asked if we could move to the table that just vacated mid restaurant. She graciously obliged. We both ordered the crab legs and chose our sides. Didn't take long before our salads came out. Mine, lettuce, nice sized with lovely French dressing. Hers, coleslaw. Next came out heaping plate of crab legs with drawn butter and my baked potato. And a bucket for the shells. We quickly began cracking those steaming hot crab legs. Sooooo good! My baked potato was on the hard side. Not like raw. But maybe had been sitting around, not at all fluffy on the inside. I heard someone else complain about it as well. The star of the show were the crab legs. No doubt about it. There had to be a pound or a pound and a half. The food has always been good when I've come. The ambiance is going down hill. It's clear the building is having some issues. Replacing the ceiling tiles should be at the top of their list. Maybe that's the least of their concerns. With covid, the salad bar looks like it was closed down, which I understand, but it was kind of covered up in the back near the stained tiles. We come once a year for the AYCE snow crab legs. The Sunday special is $45 and comes with 2 sides. They keep them coming and they're delicious! My son had the grilled cheese with bacon and it was yummy. Our waitress was great. Love the farmers potatoes. read more

Had wanted to give this restaurant a try for awhile. Rockton is a cute little town with a sweet Main Street with a few restaurants. It was Saturday around noon and the restaurant was empty when we got there. The sides with my entree were bigger than normal. The salad was a huge plate of fresh greens. It was too much and I brought most of it home. I had the onion soup that had a great broth but there was too many croutons in it and made it's consistency thick and grainy/gummy. My man ordered a burger. He likes it plain and when he finally got his burger (it took awhile) it was loaded with cheese and all the toppings. He sent it back and he promptly got the correct burger but it was over cooked and very dry upon return. Because we got it so fast, wondering if they just washed the cheese off his double burger and then threw it in the microwave? He said it was awful. The service was sketchy and the server seemed a bit overwhelmed and disappeared several times. She was super nice tho. My entree was fajitas and it was covered in queso cheese. Lots of overcooked green peppers in dripping cheese. The shrimp in the fajitas were cooked to perfection and were delicious. Too many negatives. Doubt we will go back. read more

It doesn't have the best curb appeal. Had the prime rib. It was good as a standard cut of meat goes. The bar seems to have a lot of locals in it at all times. We haven't been here in quite a while because the service was getting slow and forgetful. The fish no matter what kind you get is always amazing so we decided to come back to give it another try. We are so glad we did!! There weren't many in there because it was early and there was a snow storm heading our way. The server we got seemed new (at least we had never seen her) but she was the best we have had there. She was on top of the water and reorders were quick. I've been here with my family several times. The seafood surpassed my expectations, the salad bar is so-so, you can't go wrong with the burgers-- well, really you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Unfortunately, the service here brings down the star rating severely. I experienced excellent (extra stress on the excellent) service here the in the beginning, but it has seemingly declined as I continued to return. My last visit was the last straw. If it's Sunday lunch rush, but there is no rush... why was I given a table in the very back corner? If there are only three other tables that need to be waited on, why haven't I been acknowledge? Lastly, is there a reason why the family that came in after me got their food orders in before I was offered a drink? Is the 20% tip I usually leave not good enough? Is it because I'm a minority in such a small town? Is it because your waitresses have grown too lazy to even be unable to produce at least a fake smile? Food is pretty damn good, the fish is amazing and barbecue sauce was just right on a pretzel bun. They do get super busy at night so make sure that you get in in the afternoon or make sure you have extra time. They do have take out as well. Barbara the bartender is amazing. Great Fish Fry on Friday night. Karaoke usually follows around nine, while not "The Voice" quality, it's pretty good. Several family visits with 4 - 10 people at a time. Salad bar is restocked in timely fashion. The crappie and the whitefish seem to be the best and a couple of us (adult son and myself) had seconds. Kids had burgers and fries - scarfed them up. Some of us had chicken, which was very tasty. We always enjoy the fish fry. Beer was cold. Free refills on ice tea and soft drinks. Service was very good despite being very busy on Friday nights. On another occasion a friend and I enjoyed the Fish Fry while eating in the bar area. No complaints. Suggest you call ahead to get on the wait list, or you might be sitting or SRO for a while. Get here early for the Fish Fry or the service declines and the food sometimes runs out. No points for running out of food when the restaurant does a "land office business" on Friday nites. Parking is usually a problem, try a drop off if no space is available.... good luck finding something nearby. From a facility perspective, If you are looking for a WOW factor, it's not here. Older building, somewhat dated motif in restaurant and a bit dingy. Just perfect for a small town guy (me) and a small town crowd. After a long day on the bikes we made this our final stop on a Sunday night for the all you can eat crab legs special. Let me say, this place is still 30 miles from home but It was well worth it. Our server was amazingly polite, funny and even told us when we should put our order in for more crab legs. We got there kinda late and they were closing down but still accommodated us like they just opened and told us not to rush. I can't speak for anything else on the menu but except for the crab legs and the salad bar which was average. In all, outstanding service , great food, wonderful experience. read more

This is one or the few places I have found that has Land Shark bottles. Every time I go, the bartender is very friendly, conversational and responsive. The 1/2 lb burger is made on a sub bun instead of a hamburger bun, unlike their 1/4 lb burger. They also lack the basic idea of culinary science by not putting the cheese before the lettuce and tomato. The moisture from these guys made the bread soggy and fall apart near the end of the meal. I would not recommend getting the burger at all. The cheese is supposed to be used as a moisture barrier so the lettuce or tomato doesn't get the bread wet/soggy. Besides the burger, I love the atmosphere and decor. Really good place to check out. read more

Was in Sunday Memorial Day wknd for dinner service at Fibs North in Brodhead My son ordered a kids fettuccine meal. He didn't like it so I tried it, had a very sour taste. Server apologized for the meal and asked if he wanted something different. My son declined. They took his meal off of the check. I had the meatloaf. I ordered it without gravy but the kitchen messed it up and just tried to remove it without me noticing it. The meatloaf was bland and had a somewhat mushy taste Wife ordered a cod sandwich, pretzel roll was burnt badly, fish was alright nothing special about it. Tasted like a frozen food truck fish Daughter had mini corn dogs. She enjoyed them with her applesauce. I had the salad bar with my meal. It is not all the rage like other viewers. This is ONLY A REVIEW FOR THE SALAD BAR and servers...we frequent there and still there is no improvement on the refreshing of the salad bar. My experience at different establishments have been seeing continued visits from servers to refreshen/restock salads. The servers, some are very nice and do their best to please patrons. Others however, not so much. Seems like there is no "team"work" involved to lends a helping hand to the hard working servers. Would be GREAT if management would observe this and improve it. Most tables were empty & we were quickly seated, most of the party ordered the daily special - fried chicken. Waitress said it would take 15 minutes for preparation. She returned with drinks & appetizer, but took 50 min for entrees to arrive. Chicken was hot, corn was cold, no butter (wouldn't melt anyway) & waitress service minimal, despite very few customers. Great food, not just bar food. The crappie and cod fish fry is the best around. The burgers are huge, kind of unique and quite tasty. About 3 years ago or so my girlfriend brought us home fish dinners from fibs..she bragged up the place about how great the food was so I was really looking forward to my meal.She ordered fried fish, they gave us baked,the fish was slimy and had bones it was horrible fish,the baked potatoes were old and gray in the middle, and they left out one order of slaw, and totally forgot all condiments including lemon wedges.Of course after complaining to the owners they wouldn't make it right,in fact they tried to blame her for placing the wrong order REALLY...sorry but if I own a restaurant i'm making all my customers happy, and not just homey town folk that keep me in business. read more

This place was aweful, walked in only 3 other tables being used. Took 15 min to get drink order and food order. After the order was taken it was an honest 35 mayb more minutes to get our order. That was only brought out after we asked where it was. 3 cheese burgers and an order of steak nachos. The nachos were soggy from the cheese being on them in the kitchen so long and under the heat lamp, the open face burger on Texas toast tasted like it was on a piece of untoasted bread. And they were flavorless. Got through it. Finally get the bill brought over and took another 20 min for someone to take the cards and bring receipts. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
