About 3 years ago or so my girlfriend brought us home fish dinners from fibs..she bragged up the place about how great the food was so I was really looking forward to my meal.She ordered fried fish, they gave us baked,the fish was slimy and had bones it was horrible fish,the baked potatoes were old and gray in the middle, and they left out one order of slaw, and totally forgot all condiments including lemon wedges.Of course after complaining to the owners they wouldn't make it right,in fact they tried to blame her for placing the wrong order REALLY...sorry but if I own a restaurant i'm making all my customers happy, and not just homey town folk that keep me in business. read more

Absolutely love it here! My husband and used to come in quite regularly but since we got our new house we unfortunately haven't been able to stop it. When I come I usually order a few beers, but my favorite things to munch on while drinking is definitely hands down the duck strips! The staff is very friendly and when we walk in they greet us like we're friends so it feels very home-like for my husband and I. I really can't wait until we can go back. Oh, and of course their fish fry is to kill for! My in laws come up from loves park because they, along with us, believe fibs has the best fish fry in the area! We've never had better. Stopped in for the Sunday special all you can eat crab legs. Staff was very freindly and fast. Food was good and everthing we expected.

Stopped for lunch. Had the BBQ brisket sandwich. Flavor was ok but the brisket was over half fat. Terrible. Also, when the heat came on, it sounded like we were in the middle of an earthquake! But wait, our appetizer came 2 minutes prior to our order, seriously. My husband and I recently moved to Roscoe and decided to try out Fibs for dinner the other night. We ate in the bar-area (our choice) so we could get our drinks right away. That was certainly not what happened. Our waitress/bartender was easily distracted and it took her a fair amount of time to even ask us what we wanted from the bar. She did apologize for the wait, and then apologized to the couple next to us for their wait. That's all well and good, but it was a Wed night and the bar was no where near full enough to excuse the wait. On to the food. Prices were quite a bit higher than I expected to see for bar food. Quality was decent enough. My husband opted for the open face meatloaf sandwich and I had the reuben. Both were good, so no complaints. I give Fibs a 3 out of 5. It certainly wasn't the worst place I've ever been, but it definitely wasn't the best, either. We will give it another try at some point, but I'm much more eager to try some of the other local restaurants first. read more

I work close, so I eat here a lot. Food is usually very good. New menu has some really good items like the Pulled Chicken. and Buffalo Chicken Quesadilla. Fish fry is still the best around. Fibs has an excellent bar area with social bartenders and sports games on big flat screen TVs however it is not a sports bar and no where near as loud as one. This if one of the few bars in the area that carry one of my favorite beers - Landshark. That alone will keep me coming back read more

Typical burgers and bar food. Never been disappointed but never overly impressed. I do feel the prices are a little high. The last few times I have been there is a strong smell of chemical cleaning supplies. It turns my appetite. Staff is usually attentive and friendly. The best part was the AYCE crab legs. After that it was pretty much all down hill, but we had to laugh about it. First of all, the price of the crab leg dinner has gone up nearly $10 per person in the past year. The website is no longer functioning so we couldn't see a menu beforehand to know this fact. Second, our server was new. We don't fault him for being new, but he had a first class ticket on the struggle bus. He couldn't remember anything and seemed flustered. We overheard his other table be told the kitchen was out of ribs and his other table asked for their ticket so they could leave. My husband is normally the most agreeable person ever, but when it took 10 minutes to get our drinks and they came out flat then the salad bar lacked much more than 3 vegetables and dried out lettuce, he was ready to pay and leave. I decided we should stay and give it more time but 30 minutes later we still had no food and flat beers. The server tried asking the bartender about the beer but she was WASTED and told him the one keg was new and that was it. Yes, we were charged for the flat beers. The crab legs were good when we finally got them and our server kept 'em coming at a great pace for us. Every beer we asked for, they didn't have so I opted for a diet Coke and my husband said to just bring him any beer except a light beer. 15 minutes later he was brought a Coors Light. At this point we couldn't stop laughing about how freaking horrible this all was, BUT the crab legs were good. The bartender continued to talk so loudly we could hear her all the way across the restaurant. That was special and explains why she couldn't get a beer right and out in a timely fashion if her life depended on it. Our server was nice, but bless him, he was fighting a losing battle. Bad POS system, bad bartender, no real help, a bad salad bar, and two tables were too much for him to save himself. It is a shame. This place used to be great but as the years have gone by, Fibs has turned into a comical dump. Based on my reading of the receipt, whoever does their beer pricing is clueless to margins. A 16 oz Amber Bock was $2.50. A 16 oz Founders was $4.00. A bottle of Coors Light was $3.00. A Guiness, which was also poured incorrectly and flat, $4.00. Our bill came to $88.90. We had previously been amused and said we would come back for just the crab legs. Now we won't be back and will just make our own legs and have good, cold, non-flat beer at home. I hope the bartender's personal issues clear up though and that she is able to count out her drawer properly tonight. To our server, Isaiah, honey...oh no baby...what is you doin'? Darlin' - escape that place. Go somewhere where you can get real training and work with a good kitchen and make more money. You have a great personality and have a ton of potential but Fibs is not a good place for you. One day, while out exploring, we happened upon Fibs. I thought it looked a little run down and could use a good cleaning, but decided to just over look that and focus on the food. We asked our server what was the beast thing on the menu and she replied "the prime rib." I do love prime rib, so I decided to go for a prime rib sandwich. When I got it, I tried to cut it in two pieces but I could not cut the meat even with a steak knife. I took the top bun off to further inspect it and it was cold as ice. I know prime rib is generally cooked rare, but that meat looked and felt like it had never been cooked at all. The server asked if I wanted it to be cooked more, but I told her I didn't think cooking it more was going to make it any more tender and by then I was also just disgusted with the whole situation. read more

I've been coming here for years because the food is excellent. today we had steaks. my girlfriend had a NY strip, for me the ribeye. both very tender and juicy. farmers potatoes excellent! service was as usual, perfect. My family and I try to get to FIBs at least once or twice a month. Sometimes we seem to live there, going once or twice a week. The menu is diverse and covers just about anything a person could want. Some things are awesome (DD Burger & Indian Trail Burger, if you are a burger fan) and some things are really quite average. They do have specials (all you can eat Crab Legs and such) that I've heard are quite good. Prices aren't bad at all. It depends on what you order. Logic dictates steak & seafood are going to cost more than nachos and burgers. The service can be absolutely fab or you can be wondering if you've been forgotten. We have always been happy with our service, personally, but have witnessed a few tables that were decidedly less pleased. They have added an outdoor beer garden as well. If you want to experience that, I'd suggest getting there soon - or wear your parka. I don't know what special activities they have (or if they do have) each day of the week, but Thursday nights, The Monday Morning Dixie Band play and draw a good crowd. Good food, cold drinks and great entertainment. If you are looking for a small hometown eating establishment that isn't going to completely drain your finances, it's worth checking out. read more

There was water and food on the chairs and a puddle of water on the floor next to our table. We have been going here for years and about 2 years ago my parents went alone and said a cockroach fell in their drink and the lady said oops and quickly took her drink away. We haven't returned since then but had the idea lets give them another try since it has been so long. It was way less busier than we remember and the food was AWFUL!!! Friday fish fry baked cod was dried out with water downed butter it was so watered down it was almost clear. Then our daughters food she got fries and they were stale and old tasting. When we told the waitress that my fiance couldn't eat his food because it was funky tasting she offered alternative fish we declined so she took the plate and showed the owner. She then came back again a few minutes later again offering different fish we declined again. About ten minutes later she comes with the check and charges me the normal price of everything!!! I told her I didn't eat my fish you saw that and took my plate away and yet you charged me a normal plate price. She huffed and puffed and walked away so we went to the owner and explained to her she huffed and stated that she has fresh fish every single week and its fine I don't know what your problem is. She takes the check from me leaves and we wait about 7 min before the waitress comes back with a new check and a bad attitude and says you should have told me you know. So then we go up to pay and she huffs again with full attitude and says you could have given me your credit card at the table. She process the payment and I did not give her a tip she was so rude and so was the owner and only took $5 off the meal and was very rude to us. I then wrote on the receipt WILL NOT BE RETURNING. Before I could even leave she holds up the check and yells over to the owner "That guy you gave $5 off to look at what he did!!!" with a huge attitude. This review is for the baked cod served during Friday fish fry. We've gone many times and always been happy. Not sure if the cook changed or what, but the fish I ordered had CLEARLY been baked and reheated. The farmers potatoes, which is what kept me coming back, are normally creamy. Mine looked like they were reheated many times. Both items dry and overcooked. For $14 for the cod, I should have gone to Culvers. The waitress took our order, we both went to the salad bar, came back, sat down and took two or three bites and our food came. We had zero time to finish eating our salads. When she brought our check, we had been seated for all of 20 minutes. It was as if she wanted us done and out. Needless to say, her tip reflected that. Fibs is a great place to enjoy that "dinky small town" feel. Some may see this as a turn off but, to me, it's actually a bit charming versus chain restaurants. Yes, the service is sometimes slow, but I always find our servers to be very pleasant and tolerant (we have 3 young kids). The burgers are great, especially on the pretzel bun. The prime rib is quite the crowd pleaser on Saturdays. It is pretty tasty and for a very decent price. I feel maybe some of their items are a bit high priced but it balances out with the price of their beers and specials. I have yet to have a bad experience here. read more

Went to fibs for dinner with the family. Disgusting establishment and I will not go back. The drop ceiling is "dropping!" The place could use some serious updating and repairs. The dining area was old and dirty. The table cloth had tears in it. I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like. Waitress was nice but disappeared for a while. Our Butter for our crabs legs hardened, we needed napkins and refills on our drinks. Salad bar was supposed to be open til 9 they closed it at 7:30!
