Last friday we went to Rochester's for the Friday evening fish meal. My wife and I arrived just after 4pm to get a table on their patio. About 3/4 of their outdoor tables were already filled so we attempted to sit at an unoccupied table and were very abruptly informed that we needed to be seated even though there were no "wait to be seated signs". Ok, so we requested a table for 4 with the lady in charge of seating. After about 10 minutes we were informed that a table was ready and were escorted to the table. We planned to meet a couple there at 4:30ish but they hadn't arrived yet because it was only 4:20. The lady questioned why there were only my wife and I present and sternly said she had been burned in the past when she seated 2 at a table for 4 and then the other 2 didn't show up. She then said in a threatening tone, ok I will have to trust you (that the other 2 will show up). I then left the table for about 10 minutes and the lady returned, in my absence, to ask my wife where the other 2 people were. The other couple arrived a few minutes after 4:40 as we had planned. In summary, we felt very rushed, offended and unwelcome by the actions and responses of the lady charged with seating. And the fish meal was absolutely sub-par. We attended the Friday night fish fry for, what appeared to be, mostly retired Midwesterners. The fish was great. The portions are generous and the price was reasonable. No complaints on the food. There's a one-piece, two-piece and All You Can Eat (three pieces) price for the dinner. I doubt most people could get through all three pieces. Of course, if they do they can get another. The service was great. Manon was our waitress. She did a fine job considering how busy the place is on a Friday night. The clam chowder came out almost immediately. The drinks were refilled quickly. No complaints on service. The price was great too. Dinner for four - with a beer each - for $86 is a bargain in today's world. The ambiance was meh. There really wasn't any. The room is drab . The paint is old. The walls are kinda ugly. If that's the look they're going for, they nailed it. Maybe that's what fish fry bars look like back in Wisconsin and Minnesota. I have no idea. Considering the number of people dining there, I would expect better. Deduct a star for ambiance. If you crave a Friday fish fry and a cold beer in the middle of the desert, you're covered at Rochester's. read more

Arrived before 4 pm, waited half an hour to be seated. We ordered when drinks were ordered; took an hour and a half for our food to arrive! Two and a half hours for a fish meal is TOO LONG! Definitely an unexpected delight tucked away in Mesa at Sunland Village Golf Club. Christopher Metcalfe and Diann Trowbridge found their new home just up the street, if you're looking for a low-key meal with great service and great food, definitely look here.Tables have good distance between them giving a nice romantic setting, So we were seated immediately. The restaurant is really cute and quaint. Our waitress was lovely and explained the menu to us as well as the specials. Definitely recommend getting the SWEET POTATO FRIES and the CLASSIC REUBEN. The portion was just right, and it didn't feel heavy. Diann really enjoyed her meal as well. No complaints to be had honestly. If you have the room, you need to try their BROWNIE ICE CREAM SANDWICH, which is dangerously good. I really appreciate their simple understated menu. Fish fry is the best tasting fish around and well fried. Huge portions and sides of baked potato and soup, and slaw. Always an excellent hot meal and cold beer. Downside is long long wait. Checked in at 3:50 yesterday, got seated at 4:45 ordered at 4:55 and finally got our meal at 5:50 and out the door at 6:45. Very long night at the restaurant. Excellent young lady as our waitress and I understand that it's an issue getting help is almost impossible. This review will focus specifically on Rochester's Fine Dining's Friday Fish Fry, which is the reason I picked this place. I grew up in a steel mill town "back East" where every restaurant, from sit-down places to the diviest little corner bar, offered a Friday Fish Fry. It was a heavily Catholic blue collar area and Friday was payday. Fish fries were all-you-can-eat, top quality and generous in their portions and dirt cheap. There was a "going rate" that every place charged (back then it was a quarter) and no one dared charge a penny more. To this day my hometown continues the tradition of Friday fish fries and they are still all you can eat, and today's going rate cap is ten bucks. I am overjoyed to find that the East Valley carries on this tradition for the large number of transplants from colder climates. Some have said that Rochester's has the most authentic of them all so here I am just after 6 PM on a Friday night. Being located in a sleepy residential community's clubhouse the dinner hour starts early and by 8 PM Rochester's is closed and empty. The restaurant is a typical 19th hole restaurant/bar - not fancy or pretentious, just a casual place to hang out in bright pastel golf shorts. The atmosphere is friendly and our server greeted us like old friends. The menu is limited with an enticing daily special. But it is the Friday Fish Fry that reels them in. You get three choices of ordering the same meal ... one piece for about $11, two pieces for about $13 and all-you-can-eat which starts you off with four pieces for about $14. Caution: the one-piece meal comes with a thick creamy cup of clam chowder, French fries, a cup of fresh coleslaw and a piece of fish so big it stretches from one end of the plate to the other. For most people the one-piece dinner is more than enough. The fish is described on the menu as Cape Capensis. I had to google it where I leaned that it is a cold water fish which are captured only on the Atlantic side of South Africa, not on the Indian Ocean side. It resembles cod in that it is bright white, firm and flakey with a mild flavor. It reminds me a lot of fish from the Great Lakes I used to have as a kid. The fries are good, made from real potatoes which places them above what most restaurants serve these days. The New England clam chowder is surprisingly good, with lots of plump tender pieces of clam. And the coleslaw is a surprise - fresh, crunchy and creamy, far better than you find in most restaurants. Rochester's isn't fancy and I'm sure some will complain that it looks like a high school cafeteria. If you want fancy, this isn't your place. Rochester's was opened by a mother and daughter team in spring of 2011. The staff is friendly and attentive, the prices are low and the food is fantastic. read more

We have been here several times on and off season over the past several years. We go for the AYCE fish fry. We expected a wait. Arrived at 4:40. 18 tables to be sat before us. We say ok. Wait over 11/2 hours to be seated. Finally sitting down to be told by the waitress there was a 45 minute wait for fish. The hostess should be telling people about the wait. We were so frustrated and angry we walked out. Time before we waited over 40 minutes for our second order of fish. Never again will we go there. Ever. Again. Very very upset. I came in on a Thursday evening. There was karaoke going on so the place was packed. I sat at the bar. I ordered the Famous Rochester's Bogie Burger. This is a deluxe​ version of the regular bogie burger. This one comes with bacon, melted cheese, tomato, lettuce, onion, and special sauce. It was on an artisan bun. I enjoyed every bite. The fries were ok, but the burger was the highlight of the meal. I will be back for another very soon. read more

$7.50 Pictures of beer during happy hour. That's were three stars by itself. No stars for anything else though. We had more than 10 in our group so they would not let some of the people stay. We've literally been to 12 other places in the last six months where we've had 10+ people and nobody's ever had an issue. So some of the people had to leave and go somewhere else. Next time all of the people will go somewhere else. Plus the food, oh god the food. How do you screw every single thing up. Everything raw and undercoat. They must keep the fryer at a solid 150° I just cook everything that way just so it's nice and greasy and barley luke warm when served. We hit this place at 345 on a friday , fully intending to assault the friday fish fry. I hadnt eaten all day and was ready!!! We got here early enough and the place LOADED up at 4pm like a flood gate opened. I ordered a side salad and it was good... a mistake but good salad. The chowder was thick and rich and loaded with clams. The fish promptly arrived as we reveled in the crowds of people. It was hot appealing, better than the pictures, our tea was filled frequently. Located in the heart of a 55+ community, Rochester's is open to the public. There is indoor/outdoor seating with golf course views. There is a bar, tv's, ample seating and a large room to host a party or larger groups. We stopped in on a Saturday morning, we were greeted with big hello's and smiles. The place was empty except for a few guys in there enjoying their morning cup of joe. Our waitress took our drink order and gave us ample time to review the menu. I decided on 2 eggs, toast, and home fries. I ordered my eggs over hard, whole wheat toast, and oj. The orange came out in a large glass, which surprised me as most places give small glasses. A short time after ordering, our food was delivered piping hot to our table. My eggs were cooked perfectly, the home fries were crispy and mixed with peppers and onions, and my toast was toasted to a perfect shade of brown. Wanna have FUN and pay a fair price for good food?? ROCHESTER'S is your go-to place for fun in the sun. My mother recently passed away in Mesa, AZ, and we had lots of family in town. We decided to have mom's memorial service in the private dining room Rochester's has which can hold up to 100 people comfortably. The private room looks out onto the Sunland Village golf course, and is quite beautiful. Rochester's catered a buffet lunch for over 60 people at a more than reasonable price. Jamie or Carol will take GOOD care of you and will do all the set up and clean up!! We were able to use their TV screen and microphone system too. Because we wanted to check out the facility, our family had lunch there and it was yummy. Thursday night was karaoke night, so we decided to go back again and had a BLAST!! It was a family experience we'll never forget, and I just can't say enough good about this wonderful restaurant. I came into Rochester's to watch football on a Sunday with my fiance and had a blast. Their hot wings has become a must have for me every Sunday. It is pretty incredible how so many restaurants and bars actually mess up this great American classic. I asked the waitress to add a little bit of kick to my wings and what did I get in return? These wings came out blazing! Just hot enough that it wasn't over the top and still enjoyable. Most importantly, I judge wings by how crispy they are, yet still tender in the middle. What ever they toss their wings in is a sure treat; amazing flavor for anyone who loves wings. Try them with your favorite beer (mine is Stella). All in all, the food was great, prompt and courteous service, and won't put a hole in your wallet. Definitely one of my favorite places for great food and beer. read more

Waitress takes both of there order, then I asked why she didn't take ours So she took our order. Both tables next to us got there food and was finished eating. We finally got ahold of our waitress and asked her how they got there food and are done eating and we haven't gotten ours. She said it was probably her fault. Great lunch! First time we've been here. had the best BLT sandwich ever! My other half had the French Dip Roast Beef sandwich & Chicken Rice soup. His food was great also as was the service. Definitely will come back again. We stopped at Rochester's to see what the place was like and what kind of food they have because our favorite karaoke entertainers will be starting their karaoke venue here this week. We visit Rochesters at least twice a week. It is close to our home, and we love the neighborhood restaurant/bar. Our only issue is the consistency. Sometimes there is a huge amount of fries, other times a "normal" portion. A few times (4) we have ordered take out, and have missing items/sides. We love Rodchester's Family Dining! We love the location, right across Broadway from Venture Out's back gate. We love the Friday night fish fry with some wonderfully delicate white fish. We love the Saturday night prime rib cooked to order. We just discovered the tender brots served at a special price on Sundays! The servers are quick, friendly, and respectful. The drink specials are terrific too. The only downside: it gets pretty crowded during the winter season. So we enjoy it even more before the holidays! read more

My Mom and I went to Rochester's for breakfast last week and had the worst meal ever. It was not busy in the restaurant - only 4 table were filled. Mom ordered biscuits and gravy and both were cold. I ordered link sausage and it was cold to the point of being dangerous to eat. We complained to the waitress but it wasn't her fault, so we left a generous tip. We have been disappointed in our meals the last 2 times so will not go back even though it is close for us. read more
