Based on some great Yelp reviews, we took a little detour and stopped here for lunch. We were greeted and welcomed immediately. There were several tables inside and a few picnic tables outside, looking over the train trestle and the river. I ordered a Rachel sandwich and they were able to offer a choice of bread so I opted for multi grain. My husband got the BLT. Both were delicious and very filling. French fries or hot, served with just the right amount of salt. It is counter service, but the lady who took our order brought our sandwiches out to the picnic tables. There's a regular flush bathroom inside. I also noticed on the door as we entered that they do offer a cash price discount. Parking was not an issue. read more

10/10 hidden gem. Seating to eat, have soups and chowder, all sorts to order. We mostly go for the local meats and things, can find fresh and frozen in the back freezers. Love how some local places have shelf's to sell their honey and teas and things as well. Everyone is always super helpful and content - or laughing. I love when people enjoy their jobs. We have loved Robbie's Country Store eversince we moved to NH almost 14 years ago. Its "past-generations" ambience feels warm and welcoming. We have seen several proprietors pass through, but truly have really enjoyed the cordiality and conversations with the new Robbie family. Their meal options are great, with my favorite being the combination of flavors in the Piedmont Breakfast Sandwich. They have their own farm made cheeses, and farm fresh frozen meats for sale. We ordered takeout breakfast from The Robie Store, and it was fantastic all around. The service was friendly and great, the food was prompt, and it was tasty! We had the Piermont sandwich, which was delicious; it's probably the best sausage I've ever had. Blueberry pancakes were perfectly sweet and really didn't even need syrup, and bacon was great (a little crispy for my liking but not burnt and great flavor) All of their meats and eggs come from their farm which is awesome. We held my daughter's bridal shower at Roots, and it was absolutely wonderful! Right from the planning stage to the end of the party, Amber, Joshua, and Jane made for a memorable afternoon! We had approximately 30 guests. The event began at 4 PM, so we chose appetizers and lighter fare to serve. This included a cheese platter, antipasto platter, Thai chicken skewers, pulled pork sliders, and a lemon rice soup. The carrot cake cupcakes, made in house, were the perfect dessert! Everything was superb! The main dining room accommodated everyone nicely, and there was even plenty of room to hold a line dancing class! My breakfast was so cold I could not eat it, server told my there was no heat lamp in the kitchen? ?? My husbands ham and cheese omelet had no ham, they brought him a side of ham, it arrived after I sent the food back. The order at the counter and hope for a seat service is confusing and awkward. The staff does not understand the ordering technology and the dirty tables are inexcusable. The place is adorable, but If they don't pull it together its going to ea disaster. We were huge fans of the original Robies and were so pleased when they re-opened! The interior has had an update with fresh paint and newly stained floors all while maintaining the charm Robies has always had. The new owners have re-organized the store and more seating areas are now available with new, comfy oak arm chairs. There is plenty of outdoor seating on nice days with the addition of picnic tables. The best seat in the house is in the back of the cafe overlooking the river! We really liked the previous owners of Robies and are pleased that the new owners and employees are all very friendly and super accommodating! The menu still has our favorites with some alterations. The food is just as delicious and still made to order with fresh ingredients. The fluffy pancakes have decreased in size but have maintained their same addictive flavor and texture! I love that I can order a sandwich any time of day here! Robies is our favorite go-to breakfast/sandwich for breakfast place around! read more

What a great find. After a nice hike up at Bear Brook, we were starving for lunch and noticed Robie's on the way back to the highway. The atmosphere is fun -- they managed to keep the old general store vibe, with unique items for sale in the front and microbrews in the back. The walls feature highlights from all the political visits over the years and the high chair they gave us was easily as old as I am, which was quite fun. The food was phenomenal -- we had a pulled pork sandwich and the turkey bacon avocado wrap with sides of fries, kale salad, and bean salad. It was all so fresh and tasty. I have been eating here for years. I have seen new management come and go a number of times. The newest store managers seem to have it a bit more together than previous ones. I like that they have kept the patron responsibility of doing some of the seating, getting coffee and cleaning. The breakfast has always been the reason to come here. The lunch and other items have always been, and still are, mediocre at best. The reason for only three stars is that they no longer serve breakfast into lunch. Seriously! In my humble opinion, breakfast is the only reason to come here. My fear is that the new management will try to hard to become something Robie's (not Roots) will never be. Keep it down to earth, keep it real, and realize you are a diner. Final recommendation, if breakfast is what you are looking for, try this place (don't miss out on the pancakes). Just make sure you show up before they stop serving it. read more
