Bought a couple of 2 pound prime ribeyes on 6/19/2026 at $39.99/lb. Reverse seared them after cooking in oven, the same way I've successfully cooked quality ribeyes for nearly 50 years. Couldn't have been more disappointed. They were so tough we didn't eat half of them. Go to Costco. Better quality at less than 1/2 the price. read more

Stopped in for steak tips. We got steakhouse and maple bourbon. The marinade on both was excellent. They were uniform size, tender and very easy to grill to perfect temperature. For the non beef eater I got premade chicken kabobs. The marinade was perfect and did not dry out on the grill. So very often chicken breasts will be dry from grilling but not these. read more

I called to see if they were open. The man on the phone was so pleasant. Yep! They were open! So I stopped by. I've been visiting my mom in Nashua and wanted to make her a special meal. I bought two Prime filets. It cost me $40, but you can't put a price on good quality food so I wasn't mad and I knew it would be around that. The guys behind the counter were knowledgeable about the meat. I did ask what the difference of the two types Of filets. I was not disappointed. I don't think my mother was either. I made cast iron filets with shrimp and parm cream, risotto and broccoli. Better than restaurant quality. I'll definitely be back while I'm in town. Went to get some appetizers for the game. Got two kinds of chicken wings to prepare. Just assumed there would be a mix of drums and flats but when I got home found that of 12 wings only two flats. We prefer the flats but don't mind a decent mix. My advice is to pay attention to what they are selling you if you have a preference. read more

Just about 2 weeks ago I made my debut at The Flying butcher and it was anything but mediocre. I was greeted warmly and then given the time I needed to make a selection. To prepare myself, for a tailgate party I selected a rack of ribs. Being from Texas, I carefully select my choice for bbq meats... This set of ribs seemed to have all the qualities I would expect back home: Good color, balance between fat and meat, and of course the cut of meat itself- baby back ribs. After the tailgate party, the proof was undeniable That this was a good rack of ribs! Perfect flavor, tender, and fall off the bone in about 90-100 minutes. We recently moved to the area and I started getting my meat here. The hardest part in the beginning was walking through the door and only looking at the steaks and not buying.....as we needed a new grill. Our new Blaze grill hooked up and running, the first thing I did was come here for steaks. I wish I could thank the gentleman who waited on me......he cut two fine prime Sirloin for me. One extra thick for my husband, and a smaller one for me and in the 2 photos I posted here. I did not ask his name, but he made this visit even better. Your customer facing skills are just tops. I don't just shop, as a customer I like to support local businesses and to establish relationships. It so makes for a better experience all around when you visit. What can I possibly say other than these steaks were the BEST steaks we both have ever had in our entire lives. "WAS" the only place I'd buy fish, meat and many specialty items. When Covid got serious so did the Flying Butcher. Strict policies on numbers of customers allowed in, lines on floor for 6 foot spacing and mask everywhere. Not anymore! Customers with no mask, leaning on meat counter "shooting the breeze (probably contaminated breeze" with employees. I spend $200 plus a week there. Not anymore or at least until they start taking seriously protecting us customers. read more

The meat in this shop is great. The prime steaks consistently outstanding. The marinated tips and chicken, while expensive, are flavorful. While counterintuitive, their seafood is very good. Supply and selection is limited. Generally just salmon, tuna, sword, cod, and shrimp. They generally get deliveries on Friday either at 10 or around 2. If you're looking for something like sushi-grade tuna, call ahead. They are also now carrying sustainable, farmed salmon sourced from Chile. While not as good as King, it's quite good. Craig the owner is very helpful. This is a go-to place for me. I shop there virtually every Friday. read more

Expensive, but good. - If you don't know what to cook for dinner, go here. It's a large butcher shop that also sells vegetables, cheeses, pasta and sauce. They sell steaks and pork and lamb and seafood - much of it is also sold pre-marinated, which is awesome for the lazy backyard BBQer like ME. They sell a few vegetables - not a ton - but enough to make a great meal out of. They also sell packs of marinated vegetables - asparagus, potatoes, etc. Oh - and WINE - they sell wine! It's really a great option to go to when you're on your way to a BBQ or a party and you want to bring SOMEthing. - Kind of expensive. Pound of marinated steak tips runs north of 12 bucks. Flavor-wise, it's good. I got some marinated steak tips (the "tips" are enormous; it's mostly just steak) some marinated asparagus and marinated potatoes. Yah I might have overdone it on the marinated bit. My advice to you is just go with one marinated item for your dinner. Have I said marinated enough here in this paragraph? Anyhow - flavors are good - asparagus was great. Potatoes were really good - steak was good. Nothing was so good that I was like "man I gotta buy this again!", but it was all a solid choice. Honestly the phantom gourmet has been letting us down a lot recently. It seems as soon as someplace gets on their quality drops and there is less effort. Lackluster sandwiches on the whole not really impressed with the bread or the actual product as a whole. For the price you can get as good of meat elsewhere. read more

I go here weekly for deli meats, everyone is helpful and the owners are great, everything is fresh and tastes great. I enjoy the snack selections and the dumplings from the freezer section. My only complaint is that on the weekends the boys that work in the deli always slice the meat so thick, my turkey breast today was like 1/8" thick when I asked for thin. I might try to stick with going on weekdays, the women that work in the deli do a good job when I ask for thin sliced I get thin sliced. read more

I frequent this shop at least a couple of times a week...never, ever, ever been disappointed. First off, I'm a sucker for free samples, and this place always has samples of chips, of bread with dipping oils, and best of all....meat samples.....sometimes it's blue cheese peppercorn burgers (my personal fave), others it's lamb sausage, or maybe baby back ribs, or cowboy steak. That draws me into the place very time. Their staff is super friendly and helpful, and in my case, with usually just two of us at home, it's a great place to buy a half-dozen tenderloin tips, or a pound and a half of sun-dried tomato chicken, or the afore-mentioned blue cheese peppercorn burger (and those burgers sometimes weigh in at just under a pound....I slice them in half, make two burgers out of them). And, when I'm home by myself, as I rarely, if ever, cook....this place has the best sandwiches around as well.....smoked turkey BLT...awesome!! Rueben....best around!!! I always buy our meats here and today was no different. I picked up some beautiful filets for grilling and chilling for my wife's bday. Twice baked potatoes and some other items. I checked out the lunch board and decided to have a cheese steak ( have not had one of these for years)! It was awesome!
