I almost didn't write this as I don't like to tell people what to like. I also felt that I didn't need to pile on to the 1-star reviews here. But I decided that I can give my opinion of the management of Mr. Steer. They are the rudest, most unhelpul people that you can imagine. Not every employee but I am specifically talking about the owner/manager, his son behind the meat counter, occasionally the check-out clerk and even sometimes the deli counter person. I live within a mile of the store and have been here many times. I'll admit that they do have great meat and prepared foods. But it's not worth the abuse that you get from the above named employees, I went there a couple of Sundays ago and went into the store at 3:50, ten minutes before closing, to just pick up some steak tips for grilling. I immediately got some hated looks. They had already taken all of the meat out of the meat cases and the manager was replacing the butcher paper that lines the bottom of the case. I wanted to see what they had but all they could say was "What do you want?" I said that I wanted to see the tips they had, and all he said was "Well, what do you want"? I walked out never to return. I don't know how they stay in business when they treat their customers like that! read more

We love Mr Steer!! Meats and food in general!! We get our holiday roast beef as well as thanksgiving turkeys here for years. We really love their steak tips and chicken tips on the grill. We have been going there for at least 10 years! Everyone is so polite waiting on us! read more

Real quick, place is prettty good but just one member of the staff that works in the deli dept is so miserable. A lot of eye rolling and heavy sighs when you ask for something. I will avoid this place cause I don't need that in my life. read more

Oh Mr. Steers... I grew up eating their steaks. They have some of the best prime cuts you can get. The prices are on par. I can remember times going in and asking for large boneless rib roasts and tenderloin roasts that were just, sublime! I can also recall ordering tenderloin roasts that were just ruined... Their marinated meats have never disappointed, sausages are decent, their ground sirloin is fantastic (especially for burgers) and prepackaged pork creations are great in a pinch. The issue I have is that they do not carry any of the higher end cuts readily. There was a time (very briefly) that they carried some American wagyu. It was AWESOME! Apparently not all of their customers agreed and they nearly lost out on a lot of money. I have asked about if they ever bring them back multiple times to which they responded no. Fine I get that, need to make money in order to stay in business. They also do not carry things like pork belly. Overall staff is okay, never had a bad experience per se, just a few members of the staff that seem, unknowledgeable or even in a rush to get me out at times. The inside atmosphere is what you'd expect from a local butcher shop. It's clean and to the point. They're a staple in the area and have MANY loyal customers. If they can eventually get over that higher end cuts of meat hurdle and get staff on board with meat cut knowledge and more service with a smile (not forced...) I'd bring this rating to a 5 star. read more

Meats are consistent, employees can be rude. Last time in I requested 4 of the smaller prices of chicken because sometimes they weigh a pound, no fault of theirs... the person behind the counter laughed and was very rude when I asked for another order. I guess he didn't want to work that day and it showed. read more

[979] 7/2019 I was in the area so I visited this butcher with my cousin. She mentioned that Mr Steer had the best quality of meats in the area. I can say I agree. There is a large case of meats to choose from including tons of preseasoned meats/poultry. There are tons of items for your last minute party including tubs of prepared foods and side items. There is a large deli section. They have they own pop which is tasty (Picked up a few 4 packs). There is a nice selection of pickled items including eggs. They also have a small produce section to compliment meals. Desserts in the fridge. Pretty much anything if you don't feel like prepping or cooking for a party or a dinner. The parking lot was small so we parked next door which was also a battle. There was only 1 cashier open with a long line which was tough with my heavy pops. I'll definitely go back. I really wanted to impress the wife for Mother's Day, I've heard about Mr. Steer Meats, but never went there. I wanted two get two 'wow factor rib eye steaks' for Mother's Day. I took a chance, and went there the Thursday before Mother's Day. The woman at the counter was very helpful, she showed me where the rib eyes were, they were impressive! I asked for the two in the front of the case! They were 'thick' and nicely marbled with fat! They wrapped them in white butcher paper, which is not something you get in the 'grocery' store. Folks, you get what you pay for. I felt like a hero on Mother's Day, the wife looked at the steaks and said are you crazy ... We are out of towners from Vegas. Immediately, when we walked in, we were greeted by Jason. He took a great deal of time to explain all of their meat packaging and processing- gave us a tour of the store was very informative, and just a pleasure to interact with. We wound up spending about $150 on steaks and some fixings. The steaks were fantastic totally worth the money. We have plenty of food left over for another meal. If we lived here this would be our go to butcher for sure. read more

30 years as a customer. Always awesome. About a year ago though. I visited them. Picked up 3 pound packages of hamburger along with other items from the butcher. The hamburger was packaged in clear plastic bags in a cooler near the register. I cooked up house steak tips and LP chicken for lunch. Went to make meatloaf for dinner. Well the burger was so grey on the inside but red on the outside. So I checked the others and it was the same. I threw it out. I should of taken it back but I was just so discussed. I still haven't been back. Sorry to leave such a negative review. I always enjoyed your products. But this left such a bad experience in my life for my hard earned money. Makes NO sense to me why a meat business would close during peak hrs and shopping closed at 630? Some people work and commute from Boston. This isn't 1965. Very clean and service is excellent! But best of all the quality of meat is really top notch. Marinated steak tips are to die for. The deli makes fresh subs that are big and full of meat. I realize that it is the holidays and all, but when the MGMNT cannot speak to their customers in a cordial way when there is an issue and blames the customer for the issue, then there is some serious people skills lacking. Very DISAPPOINTING especially since I made it very clear that a I did not want to make a huge issue out of it, but wanted to figure out a solution. Mgr/butcher was basically a bully. Too bad quality of staff isn't nearly as close to the quality of meats..I will NOT be returning anytime soon. Oh, and did I mention he said, and I quote "I must have incompetent staff who were obviously not clear when writing your order"...WOW! is all I can say. Nothing like throwing your staff under the bus when clearly the issue was the fact that you made an assumption. Mistakes happen, but please do not blame the staff or take it out on your customers. Simply say "Sorry", not "What do you want me to do about it?" I should also mention that the lovely woman I spoke to and placed the order with was quite receptive, very pleasant, understood my order and appeared to be quite competent in every aspect especially when she reiterated the entire order back without any indication that she may have been having difficulty understanding my requests. When I lived in NH, I went to Mr. Steer for all my meats. best there is. I only wish they would ship and have order online. I love the marinated Lamb tips and the beef tips. I can't find anything like it anywhere. I was up t here two years ago in my RV and I filled the freezer with meat from Mr. Steer and brought it back to Florida, but my family was hungry for Mr. Steer meat and it didn't last long! read more

It didn't take my check in for some reason but I took enough photos to actually love this place. I'm very sad that we don't have anything like this at home. But of course I had to get the beef sausage, never heard of this kind of sausage but I had to try. My future sister in law cooked this for dinner tonight. I actually bought it prior to tasting it. Witnessed appalling behavior and rudeness from a deli clerk towards a customer. It was shocking. What is it with this place? The cashiers can be quite rude to customers if they don't follow that bizarre check out process, the meat counter clerks are unpleasant to customers. It is very uncomfortable to be standing there listening to employees be so rude to customers. The chicken is tough with weird texture. I was told by clerk it's nothing more than Perdue brand. Be very careful buying beef. It's often tough like stew meat. This store is not worth it. It's often an unpleasant experience along with poor quality product. Will not be back again. Paid over $200 for prime filet mignon steaks for a Christmas dinner. I was happy to pay that to get tender steaks. But these steaks ended up being tough. The meat was grilled to medium rare, but it was so tough my regular serrated knives were not enough. I emailed their customer service address about the problem, did not request a refund, and in fairness did not request a reply. I just wanted to let them know what happened. But still, I was surprised that Mr. Steer did not respond. That tells me something about their desire to keep good customers. I have purchased their meat in the past , and I have even put up with the terrible parking situation there because I have pleased with the meat. Stopped there earlier this week for a lunch sandwich. Was mesmerized by there prepared foods. Knowing a busy week was ahead I took a chance and bought some of their prepared foods. Their chicken pot pie was the best I have had in a long time. Loaded with white meat with a nice flaky crust. Feeds four adults easily. Also bought their enchiladas. Full of meat with a tasty sauce. Oh, steak tips...how I love thee. I've tried most of their marinated steak tip flavors and enjoyed them all. Teriyaki is our favorite to grab for a impromptu cookout. Sure, the prices are a bit steep, but they do fall in line with other high-end butchers in the area. I've had the cheaper meats from the grocery store and they just don't compare. We have also ordered a rib roast for the holidays which was outstanding. Mr. Steer offers a good variety of marinaded steak, chicken, etc. My personal favorites are the pub wings and any of the deli meat. What's so great about the cold cuts here? Two words: Boar's Head. This has to be the best tasting deli meat I've ever had (certain grocery stores carry it as well). Of course Mr. Steer is somewhat pricey because anything that isn't a super market is considered a "specialty" store this day and age. Although the meat comes at a premium that does not guarantee quality; I have had my fair share of steak that is tough as nails. They have a nice new building yet some how they only paved a tiny parking lot that doesn't nearly accommodate the usual clientele. Unless you want things exactly as they are presented, you are a complete pain in the !?@$/ to the counter dwellers working here. News flash folks, wallets talk and you should pay attention to the needs of your customers regardless of what you want to sell. Its a one way deal here, theirs or the highway. Nothing special here.
