Every now and then a strip mall houses a decent restaurant in this case I'd been wanting to go here since it opened in 2017, so I guess last night was the night. This place offers a very limited menu, and to top it it off; it changes every few days, so I don't expect to come back and have your favourite item. Unfortunately I pick the day with it was really mostly fish and meat which has a vegetarian was not a good idea. I was then told that I could call or write them and request vegetarian option ahead of time. Had I known that I would've definitely waited. I ended up getting a very small salad which I could probably order two more of those. Then finishing off with the strawberry shortcake goat cheese dessert which was quite honestly to pungent with the goat cheese to be with something sweet. The waitress lacked personality and enthusiasm which didn't help the meal go down, as I am looking for the whole experience-server included. I will probably give it one more try and hope for redemption. Photos are of what I ate. Forgot to shoot my tiny salad. read more

The hype is real. I came here for lunch, and ordered their sandwich of the day - beef cheek. It was delicious! Since they make their own bread, the girl said they only make 10 sandwiches a day. Lucky me! It was one of the best sandwiches ever. They operate unique from a lot of other businesses, focusing their attention on quality. The menu is small, but mighty. Plus it saves decision fatigue from indecisive people like me. Some other reviews have mentioned it's a little pricey, but lunch is extremely reasonable. The sandwich was $12, very filling, and out of this world. All of their greens look and taste like they literally just picked them, so I'm wondering if they grow them there. Anyway, after stressful weeks at work, this'll be my go to lunch retreat. I'll probably bring my husband here for a nice date night down the road to, so we can both rave about it! read more

April 3, 2024 We went to The Restorative specifically for the menu tonight. Wagyu Beef Sirloin sounded great, and we were expecting a "fine dining experience." The dining experience fell apart quickly. Arrived at 5:35p for a 5:45p reservation (for which I was reminded of no less than three times) and were seated quickly. Rachael was our waitress. Unfortunately, she is very quiet and does not make you feel welcome. We placed our wine order and that was delivered quickly. We order the naan bread and that was also delivered quickly. Then everything fell apart. My wife ordered the Wagyu Beef and I ordered the Burrata salad AND the Wagyu Beef. I requested medium rare and my wife also requested medium rare. She even repeated the order to us. Rachael then delivered one steak knife. I thought this was strange and passed it off as a mistake. My wife received her Wagyu steak as ordered and I received the Burrata salad. I enquired why my steak was not being delivered and Rachael FORGOT TO ORDER IT. Hard to believe since there were only two other people I the restaurant when we placed our order. It took a matter of about 15 minutes from placing our order to receiving it. She checked and I was told it would take 25 minutes to make another steak for me. At this point we were frustrated with the service and did not want to wait another 25 minutes for me to eat while my wife already had her dinner. I am most upset that Jason did not take the time to come to the table to apologize personally. He was too engrossed entertaining the people seated at the bar. I am insulted that they forced the 20% tip on top of the cost of the meal for EXTREMELY POOR SERVICE. We paid the bill and were walking out the door when Jason said "I'm sorry for the screw up". This was a totally unacceptable and insulting response to their obvious mistake. The "fine dining" experience took a total of about 45 minutes. I felt like we were being shuffled through as fast as possible. Not the experience we have hoped for and have had in the past. I am going to need a real apology and proof that their service standards have been improved before I go back. ----------------- Update, The "rude" note that they claim was simply "Jason, food great, service ... meh". Please explain how this is "rude" I understand the 20% tip policy and would have gladly paid more if the service has been good. I cannot understand why we were told that it would take 25 minutes to prepare a second steak as this seems excessive. I am more disappointed with Jason's apology as we were walking out the door. Crickett , you were not even at the restaurant last night. Your comments that "everyone makes mistakes" and deserves forgiveness are quite interesting considering we are no longer "welcome." Apparently you don't practice what you preach. We have been customers for almost 4 years now and went out of our way to support you when your business was closed due to both Covid and the electrical issues you recently faced. I find it hard to believe that The Restorative does not even want to try to repair a long time customer relationship and decided to walk away from the situation instead. ---------- We will GLADLY go somewhere to enjoy a bottle of wine, a piece of meat, a piece of cheese and some bread that costs $160. As long as that restaurant offers GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE. Obviously, the "apology" was not perceived to be one since it was in passing ... Jason could have prevented this issue by coming to the table and apologizing directly. He was too busy talking to the customers at the bar about how he wanted to work at Waffle House. It is blatantly obvious that your pride is preventing you from accepting responsibility in a direct fashion. read more

First time and definitely not the last time. Every bite was exquisitely delicious. So good in fact we forgot to take pictures. Started the meal with naan, herb butter and olive tapenade. Lamb starter. Main was the beef sirloin with peppers and roasted eggplant. This had a kick and the flavors married beautifully. Main bbq pork cheeks, corn, hominy, green bean puree. Every bite was a flavor explosion. Finished with 2 desserts: a blueberry compote with cheese to bring the savory and a chocolate pot de creme with a lovely rasberry puree and hazelnut streusel for crunch. Yum yum yum read more

The Restorative offers a pleasantly delightful dining experience. Since it's located off a beaten path (in Dunedin), it is able to deliver a high-end experience (beautifully prepared dishes and professional services) at an economical price ($30/person for 3-course meal). The restaurant changes the menus based on daily fresh ingredients. Among the menu items we ordered, our entrees and dessert are extremely outstanding. The short rib was very juicy and tender. It was beautifully plated on top carrot puree and topped with onions. The pasta dish is unbelievably light, beautiful and lovely. For desserts, we were extremely adventurous to try their "triple cream" dessert; which was made using cheese. My first time yet extremely impressed. The lightly salted cheese blended well and provided a distinct flavor with caramel and caramel corn. We would highly recommend The Restorative; and would come back when we have a chance! read more

We had our small office holiday gathering and the food and service was excellent. I have wanted to try it for a year or two now and I am sad that I waited this long. You would never guess that a restaurant in a strip mall would be this amazing. Highly recommend. read more

This restaurant is literally like a sanctuary for me. I've been 3 separate times and it's worth nothing the menu is always changing daily. I'd recommend checking their Instagram to see what they're serving that day. The seasoning is always spot on- never over salted or under salted. The execution of their dishes is always meticulous and thought out and whatever protein you choose, I guarantee it'll be cooked to immaculate perfection. Truly chef driven food. Even if I'm full (I'm talking 5-6 dishes split between 2 people) I've never felt bogged down or bloated, THATS how you know they're doing it correctly. To say, "soul food" feels a bit cliche and yet every time I leave I feel utterly satisfied and elated, already looking forward to my next visit. There's nothing better than perfectly seasoned, expertly cooked food. Also sit at the bar, it's never a bad time at the bar. Came with a girlfriend and they have a really good happy hour menu! We ordered "the kitchen sink" which is everything on it for $50 and split it. The charcuterie and cheese platter with warm olives was the best part, really good. The pasta was also really good. The only thing I did not like was the raw scallop dish. I love scallops but this had a lot of really coarse salt on it that just over powered it. It's definitely a good deal to split with a friend. So much food! We were still full but still had to order desert. The deserts were really good and unique as well. This is a small restaurant so seating is limited. We came in a Monday so it wasn't an issue but if you come at a busy time you made need a reservation. read more

Had a good dinner at the bar last night. Chef Jason and sous chef Tom were very personable. Had good time chatting with them and other customers. Started out with the sparkling rose which was very good. The Cabernet was average. Appertizers: gnocchi (a little too rich for me), and scallops (very fresh). Entrées: pork (perfectly cooked and the best dish in my opinion; the accompanying veggies can be better) and short rib (large portion, very tender). Dessert : chocolate bread pudding/banana (the bread pudding was somewhat dry, almost like a brownie). Overall, we had an enjoyable experience and would definitely recommend this place. read more

Definitely adding this to my top favorites! Where do I begin? It's a husband and wife team and they make you feel like you're visiting their home. However, what your being served is not a casserole! It was one of the best meals I've had! They change their menu weekly I believe, could be wrong on that. It's a very small menu which I love. A few starters, a few entrees, and a few desserts. DO NOT SKIP DESSERT! There is only a few tables and a bar. Beer and wine only. The focus is the food and you won't be disappointed! We will be back! A LOT! read more

TLDR: elevated dining experience that was fresh & served faster than any expectation. Make a reservation online for this truly exceptional experience. Menu is always changing, as to keep things seasonal & fresh! I have been eager to enjoy an experience at the Restorative since hearing rave reviews from a friend. The food is always so beautiful & man, the flavor really matched its instagram potential! We started with the quail & asparagus as well as the naan with harissa. I honestly really loved the garlic butter it came with, even more then the harissa. My husband had the quail and was very enthusiastic about his enjoyment of this dish. The asparagus with prosciutto had water crest on it and wow, that flavor combination worked so well. For our main course, we had the beef tenderloin and bucatini. Both were very enjoyable. The bucatini was perfectly Al dente. The mushrooms served along side my beef tenderloin were such a variety and matched so well with the dish! Then came dessert! Both of the dishes we had were so amazing, we actually considered ordering the third dessert option as well just to experience it! But, ultimately by this point, we were way too full. The interior design is very clean and modern with a home feel. They have art work on the wall all of which is available for sale, should you be in the market. The service was spectacular!!! They were kind and fast!! With only 3 people working, I was floored at how quickly each meal was prepared and served. I was also incredibly impressed at how strict each team member was about informing patrons about the mask policy & really following through. That was a huge relief as we made an early reservation to avoid as many other people as possible simply for safety reasons. I was so happy with this experience & would highly recommend you make a reservation ASAP & get your fancy mask ready because, it's truly an occasion to be had here. read more

What happens when two industry vets fall in love and decide they want more of a life than restaurants usually offer? The Restorative. I've had the good fortune to eat all over the world, from big city to backwater, and dinner here is among the very best of them. I can't help but laugh at the review from "Aaron S." - thinking that this staff is rude, or that this food is unappetizing, says faaarrrrrrr more about the diner than the restaurant. If you love to sit back and have food & service experts take care of you, then you must book - at the bar - immediately. Where have I been all your life?! Driving by, apparently. Not anymore! This unassuming dinner restaurant deserves your attention. I saw the great reviews on Yelp and kept driving past it day after day after day. Today I finally stopped. And I will be back! Menu changes regularly. Tonight's menu I had an amazing cold cauliflower soup with lime and shrimp, and a glass of rose - both amazingly refreshing after the walk I had just prior. Dinner was two starters /sides. Considering I'm late to the mushroom game, I was in love with the mushrooms cooked in foie gras - decadent but not overly so - and the savory bread pudding with garlic jus and mushrooms was also good (although the bread pudding was a bit more dense than I prefer). For dessert I had the Cheddar. Panna. Cotta. With apples. A. M. A. Z. I. N. G. I don't do desserts typically. But this hit the spot with a nice balance of mildly sweet and savory in a nice fall theme. They had a small but nice wine selection with great recommended pairings. Ambiance was really nice as was the sound level. I was in my own but I can see it being easy to talk with dinner partners while there. I will be back. Again and again! read more

After following this restaurant on Instagram for months and drooling over the amazing photos my husband and I finally made the trip out last night. We were not disappointed! In case you are trying to call them to get more information or make a reservation ... they don't have a phone number nor do they take reservations. They are responsive via email though. There menu is split into three sections: Beginnings, Middle, and Ends. Our waitress recommended that we pick a dish from each and that is what we did. Keep in mind that The Restorative changes there menu daily. Beginnings: We started with a Peach Caprese Salad with Pistachio Pesto which was so light and refreshing. Perfect for the hot summer days here in Florida. We also tried the risotto which had the perfect tomato base and a delicious Parmesan crisp on top. Middle: My husband got the cornish hen which he loved since the meat was so moist and just fell off the bone. It came with some collard greens and carror with a smoked jus. He really enjoyed the dish. I had the spaghetti with shrimp in a garlic butter sauce. It was good but i was a little disappointed. The pasta didn't seem homemade and I thought the sauce could have used a little more flavor. End: For dessert we tried the blue cheese kiwi pound cake dessert which was a brilliant way to serve a fruit/cheese/nut option. For those looking for a dessert on the less sweet side this is perfect! We also tried the sweet corn cake with coconut custard which was equally delicious. The coconut custard was my favorite component. All in all my husband and I would return. The service was great and we loved that you can have an elegant dining experience without having to be in a stuffy uptight environment. The casual ambiance is great for a laid back date night. read more

Visited about a month ago and encountered rude, rude staff and unappetizing food. Truly not the high quality place it pretends to be.

It's a crime that my wife and I have never left a review for The Restorative: the food has been absolutely stunning every single time we've eaten here! To be honest I've driven by the spot a couple times but would never had guess it was a restaurant...I would have pegged it for more of a café (light breakfast, etc.). To my surprise this is a hidden gem in the Dunedin area (newly opened about 10 months by a local extremely talented Chef) Owners Erin "Cricket" Plunkett, 26, and Jason Borajkiewicz, 34 have certainly captured the essence of Modern European cooking. The dishes are not really large but very fresh, delicious and well prepared. For a party of 2 you can drop about $75 -$100 - but believe me its quality over quantity. You can taste the love and attention to detail in each dish. The menu changes 2 to 3 times a week to allow for fresh and creative dishes. So the menu is short in my book is a good sign because that allows for everything to be fresh. And they have the flexibility to make frequent changes. We should all be mindful of the restaurants offering pages of dishes and what are we really receiving...hhhmmm how fresh, frozen, in microwavable portions are we paying for. (Message...LOL) :) The bathroom is very very clean, the interior of the restaurant was artful and again very clean.  I had the wagyu beef cheek for 2, roasted vegetables, thyme jus...and it was yummilicious it is the pic in my check-in photo - when I say the favorites were very tasty and tender you can cut with your fork or butter knife. The desserts in my book can be bigger for sure. I had the basil semifreddo, lemon curd, strawberry, candied ginger. Very Tasty   I'll be back again for sure - oh there are closed on Saturdays and Sundays...but believe me well worth the weekday trip Walk-ins only (no reservations) - hours...Monday-Friday...lunch 12pm - 2pm and dinner 5pm - 9pm Currently wine: brut prosecco 5/22, dry riesling, washington hills 7/29, sauvignon blanc, atlantique 7/29, chardonnay, bernier 10/40, pinot noir, moulin de gassac 6/27, grenache blend, bonpas 5/22, cabernet sauvignon, eod cellars 10/40...dessert wine 6...and beer: m.i.a miami weiss 4, duck rabbit milk stout 6, big swell ipa 6, original sin eldberry cider 6 nonalcohlic: still/sparkling water, housemade sodas, coffee, tea read more

We had a wonderful date night at this quaint restaurant. Our waitress was very attentive, the food was super creative but not overdone or o. Maybe most importantly, everything was delicious! Excellent dining experience from beginning to end. Highly recommend. Update: We returned for a second visit just last night and it seems it somehow got even even better since our first visit! I remembered to take some pictures this time. Their menu changes all the time, but these were our selections last night (Parmesan panna cotta, tartine, and veal bolognese.) I forgot to get dessert photos but I HIGHLY suggest the sponge cake if that's an option when you visit. The small place was packed! This is quickly becoming our date night go-to! Come here right now! What a quiet, unassuming, tucked away little gem of a find. I am long gone and continue to be intrigued. If you are on Clearwater Beach, make the effort to come over to Dunedin and experience this. It isn't the standard beach fare that you'll pay the same price for and it will be a memorable food experience. Yelp brought us here - we are on spring break with the kids and left them at home with the grandparents for a long overdue Valentines dinner. This place appeared to be right up our alley. Not a soul in the place at 5:30 on Thursday which is a crying shame (although I overheard them talking about being packed at this time the night before). Know that the menu changes frequently; that said, here's our night: We started with spring pea risotto as well as beef short ribs, and seriously considered ending with that course again after working our way through the rest of the menu. The risotto was excellent, I might have enjoyed a few more pickled onions but otherwise, wow. The onion jam on the tender short ribs and foie gras potatoes - a fork fight ensued for the last bit. Next were the bacon meatballs and polenta, with just a hint of smoke and a bright pomodoro sauce. We also tried the pasta with mushrooms and leeks; this was a surprise to me and a welcome one. Not heavy and the flavor was so good- carmelized and Unami. Yum!! Dessert was a black pepper pound cake - you'll find this nowhere else- with a balance of savory and sweet when blue cheese meets honey. We also had the cocoa nib mousse with chocolate ganache. While really good, I didn't get the coffee or hazelnut that was also in the description. I am truly nit picking with that. Again, everything from the clean crisp interior to the excellent service to the visual of the chef tasting and adjusting his dish behind the counter - this place is going places. I'll end with the quote that accompanied our thank you note and check - "food is like sex; when you abstain, even the worst stuff begins to look good." read more

Food was great a real taste feast. Enjoyed it very much. Such different combination of flavors. A wonderful experience

We've been wanting to visit this chef-owned restaurant for a long time however prior to the new year they only opened Monday-Friday til 9pm and since we live a bit far from them, the drive over for a just a short time dining didn't make sense. Luckily for all of us they now have added Saturday hours! We made reservations for an early dinner on Saturday and were seated right away when we arrived. I definitely recommend you make reservations in advanced as they're a pretty small restaurant with only 4-5 tables and ~4-6 spots at the bar area. The restaurant is located in a non-descript shopping plaza in Dunedin with plenty of parking spots available. Their food menu is rather small with ~4-5 small dishes/appetizers, ~3 entrees and ~3 desserts to choose from. I love this idea of a small menu as it allows the chefs to focus on a few dishes and use the freshest ingredients available. They post their constantly changing menu on Instagram daily so you know what they'll be serving ahead of time. Even though they say they change their dishes daily (or at least 2-3 times per week) I saw pretty much a similar menu posted every day of the week with just a few changes. Their wine menu is also rather small but they do venture out and offer a few European and South American wines. They also post on Instagram if they have any cancellations for the day in the event that people want to make an impromptu visit. We started our meal with their home made na'an bread which is served with herb butter. The bread was warm, salty and delicious. The consistency of the bread is different than the traditional na'an but it was nonetheless satisfying and delightful. We also had the crab brandade which is a mix of mashed potatoes and blue crab made almost into a thick spread consistency, served on top of toasted Wonder bread and a soft egg. The flavors and textures on this rather simple dish blew our minds. The soft egg yolk was perfection and the Wonder toast was the right medium to bring it all together. We also had a tandori salmon served with greens and rice. This Asian inspired dish showcased savory flavors, heat and textures that worked so well together and made for a wonderful dish. Lastly we had the bucatini pasta with mushrooms and miso butter. This was another 'wow dish' for us. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente. The mushrooms were buttery and the sauce was rich yet delicate. For dessert we had a chocolate cremeux and lavender panna cotta topped with strawberries, not too sweet and the perfect ending to our wonderful meal. All of the dishes we had were exquisite, so thoughtfully and carefully crafted. Definitely shows the chef's passion for serving good food. I wish this restaurant was closer to us, we likely would become frequent visitors. read more

My husband & I had dinner at The Restorative located at 420 Patricia Ave., Dunedin, FL 34698. It has been a few years since we have dined there and I was looking forward to going. Our server was Rachael and although she was ok, she simply does not have the hospitality personality for a food server in that type of establishment. She appears as if she is petrified of people, very soft spoken, no eye contact, no smile, coy and shy. She was wearing a tee shirt & wrinkled pants. We ordered our dinner and the Naan bread was served rather cold, not hot like it use to be served. Our truffle ziti was delicious, however b/t my husband and I we were lucky if we got two bites each out of it due to the baby bite size portion. I ordered the halibut meunière which was a rich, tangy savory French sauce and it was delicious. Again, very small plate for a whopping $49.00 and my husband ordered the Wagyu sirloin with 4 very small sizes of sirloin for $46.00. Seriously, you almost need a magnifying glass to see your food which is an insult for the exorbitant prices they charge. I understand restaurants will capitalize on a higher profit margin for serving smaller portions and using smaller plates. It would be nice if they were more reasonably priced. Also, even though it's a fine dining restaurant. While we were there, a couple walked in, sat at the bar and the guy was wearing a dirty baseball cap, ragged old shirt & shorts and flip flops. He had the grosses ostrich looking feet which was not pleasant to see while eating my meal. Another couple walked in and it was the complete opposite, the man was dressed in a suit & his wife in a pretty summer dress. The place is located in a run down strip mall with sketchy people in the parking lot. We left there and decided it's too over rated and over priced. Due to their open kitchen, grill smoke and all, when I got home my clothes had a strong food smell to them. Their is something just "off" about The Restorative, the food is beyond superb however it does not have the vibe & flow of a fine dining restaurant. read more
