I have been here twice with my girlfriend, first time outside second time inside. Food was very good, I ate the pistachio covered sea bass and was not disappointed. The waiter Bryce was a phenomenal waiter and spent a lot of time with us explaining different menu items and recommendations. He also took pictures of us and they came on my phone and my girlfriend's Polaroid and the pictures were amazing and will make great memories. Wow! This place did not disappoint! Made reservations three days ahead of time for a Friday evening. We were seated right on time and the place was vibing both at the outdoor bar and restaurant. Perfect place to watch the sunset! Started with the bacon wrapped shrimp - so so good! I ordered the Land and Sea (3 scallops and filet medallions) and it was delicious! Scallops were a good size and filet tips were a nice portion. My husband ordered the pistachio crusted rack of lamb. Cooked to perfection, super tender and the homemade mint jam was amazing! My parents really love to come here when they are in Florida and wanted to go there to celebrate my mom's birthday. We were sat in the back by the window, so we had a nice view. It is extremely loud and we had a hard time hearing each other and our server. Service overall was just okay. Drinks: - Key Lime Pie Martini - very sweet and tasted like flavored eggnog. sent back - Pomegranate Martini - not made consistently. My mom's was much sweeter than mine. Good, but nothing special - Almond Old Fashioned - this was nice. The almond was a nice change from a normal old fashioned Appetizers/Entrees: - Prosciutto & Date Flatbread - this had a nice amount of proscuitto, but there was too much balsamic dressing as it overpowered the whole dish - Spanish Octopus - TINY! It has nice flavor, but there's not a lot of octopus in it, which defeats the purpose - Seared Sesame Ahi Tuna - very nice flavor, but they only gave 6 pieces of tuna and 3 wonton chips for nearly $30 - Cedar Plank Salmon - best thing we got. It's the only dish that had the perfect amount of everything and was enjoyable to eat. The cedar gives the salmon a very nice flavor - Port Wine Glazed Pork Osso Bucco - disgusting mushroom risotto. Pork was undercooked so we had to send it back to be fixed. Came back cooked correctly and tasted decent. They gave a good amount of pork. This place is ridiculously pricey for the small amount you get for most of the dishes. The food was good and the view was phenomenal. The service was very subpar. The server showed up twice within 1 hour of being there. And we had to find her to close out our tab. Then the minimal option for a tip was 20% (unless I chose to customize it). I opted for the 20%. After that we asked about walking out onto the lighted deck. We were told it was locked. No one attempted to unlock it even though it was only 10:00pm. After that we went to the outdoor bar and not once were we acknowledged by the young bartender even though we were there for 20 minutes. We made dinner reservations here weeks ago. Bon Appétit Restaurant & Marina Bar is a landmark waterfront restaurant in Dunedin. It is known for its panoramic views of St. Joseph Sound, fresh seafood, and American/European cuisine since 1976. It offers both indoor dining with reservations and outdoor seating at the marina cafe, with options for lunch, dinner, and special diets, plus a full bar and live music. The atmosphere is considered sophisticated yet relaxed, I was surprised the by 8 o'clock. Everybody had emptied out.. We sat at a round table facing the sunset, beautiful. Miguel waited on us, he was attentive. Six of us ordered delicious seafood. I really enjoyed my Aji tuna, my husband, his grouper sandwich, friends, the oysters, the octopus and lobster roll. Portions were generous prices were reasonable and presentation was gorgeous. We celebrated a birthday and our table enjoyed a complementary glass of Prosecco. Came here with my girlfriend for dinner after dark. We had the best table inside--in the corner of the full-glass wall, but we couldn't see the water. Bummer. That would have been amazing! The restaurant has great water views if you come during the day. They also have an extensive outdoor area with a bar and live music, which is on the parking lot side. Our server, whose name I didn't catch, has been there about 40 years. The menu is a classic American upscale menu with many options. I ordered the crab and artichoke salad and we split a side of the mushroom risotto. I also had a dirty martini, which was generous. They brought rolls and butter, as well. The salad was DELICIOUS and the crab on it was generous. I only ate half and took the rest home for lunch the next day. It had brioche toasts that were so good! The mushroom risotto was meh, in my opinion. We also shared the flourless chocolate cake, which was huge and delicious, came with sliced strawberries and a scoop of vanilla ice cream with, I think, chopped pistachios. Service was on it- always stopping by to check on us. The fish spread for the appetizer was quite decent--nothing extraordinary, but what you'd expect anywhere along Florida's coast. The real highlight was the lively bar area, which seemed to buzz with energy as the sun dipped below the horizon. We took a leisurely stroll out to the water's edge, capturing breathtaking photos of the sunset that painted the sky in hues of gold and rose. It's clear this spot enjoys stunning sunsets every evening. To celebrate 44 years of marriage we chose Bon Apetit for its view of the Gulf & past experiences. We wanted to eat at a classy restaurant, and Bon Apetit seemed the perfect place. We were seated by the window, next to an empty corner table. Unfortunately the couple who eventually occupied that spot watched YouTube or other videos on their phones and we heard numerous times the wedding music in those videos. They were less distracting than the two couples next to us. Their loud conversations made it impossible for us to hear each other as we spoke quietly to one another. We finally abandoned our conversation and took out our smart phones. The food was okay. My husband's ribeye was tough and chewy. It was medium more than the requested medium rare. He thoroughly enjoyed his mashed potatoes, and I enjoyed mine. The butternut squash was the best I have ever had. My filet mignon was cooked perfectly and was delicious. Our server was adequate. He took our orders. Someone else delivered our steaks. We do not recall him returning until it was time to pay the bill. This was a less than memorable way to spend our anniversary. read more

Very rarely do I ever get taken back by a restaurant, it's super rare. But the time I had at Bob Appétit was phenomenal. It's my moms favorite restaurant, and I can absolutely see why. The ambience, the music, the food, the service, the VIEW... it was all incredible. We set a reservation for 530pm. Which gave us plenty of time to prepare for sunset! Their dining room inside is nestled with perfect sight on the water. I'm from out of town, but this is a Gem in the Dunedin. Aka little Ireland. Super close to downtown Dunedin too! We all had a few drinks; Chai Manhattan, Aperol spritz, champagne. Etc. A few of the entrees that were ordered, because we share our bites with each other were: The 14oz Ribeye, Lobster Tail, Bouillabaisse, Grilled Salmon, French Onion Soup (BEST I EVER HAD) Our server, Michael, was very accommodating as we saw it was extremely busy at the restaurant. He showed us in full detail, the specials of the night & described them eloquently. I was very impressed with his enthusiasm & delivery. We didn't go hard on desserts, as we each had our own $3 dessert shooter, all varied in flavors, shared of course. The restaurant is big on shareables it seemed, if thats your style or restaurant!! We came to Bon Appetit for the views, and left feeling pleasantly surprised! We made reservations, but there were plenty of available tables on a Sunday night. The menus are on iPads and a little hard to navigate at first. We ordered our drinks, then headed out on the dock to snag some sunset pictures. We ordered the shrimp cocktail for an appetizer, which came in an oversized martini glass, so fun! For dinner, I ordered the Sole, which was de-boned at the table and cooked perfectly. Oh this was amazing! Right on the water and an amazing view of the sunset. Parking is not a problem. There's a free lot across the park if their lot is full. I hear brunch is also very good. Ordered the escargot and it was a miss. Some people like curry but my opinion, don't add it to escargot doesn't belong. We stayed at the Best Western hotel at the marina, and CHOSE to have lunch/dunch at Bon Appetit 3 times (which, for us, is a rave testament to the diversity and deliciousness of this restaurant). All 3 times, we chose to go to the external site, overlooking the water, at "odd times" so we could avoid the enthusiastic crowd, who love the bar, the music, the raucous atmosphere. Service was friendly, efficient, and well-done. The seafood was excellent. The view was fantastic. And we could STILL hear the live music from the bar, behind us --- albeit with less decibels, since we were many yards away. Great choice of location. Nice restaurant. This establishment has a long history and has been a local landmark as long as I can remember. My dad recalls he interviewed for a job as a physician in Dunedin in 1989 and this is the restaurant they took him to. As a local, I have been here on a number of occasions , for dinners and for functions. In my opinion it is a great restaurant and has improved over the years . I dined here tonight with a party of four and was very impressed. The location on the water, indoor and outdoor dining, location , and ambiance has always been a top selling point and continues to be. The service was A++ . The food ? That's where it truly shines. Absolutely fantastic drinks, appetizers, soups , salads , main course. I had the shrimp cocktail, diver sea scallops , and brussel sprouts . I have a second home in midtown manhattan and dine out more then I dine in and I can say this venue rivals anything I have had in any of the top rated restaurants in the US or around the world. The scallops were the best I ever had. Having said that I was almost tempted to give Bon Appetit 4 stars instead of 5 because quite honestly the price for some of the items on the menu , If not most , are well above what should be reasonable for this area. My advice to management would be to do a better job of due diligence in setting your pricing. I say this also based on the volume of customers I noticed tonight which should be higher based on the location , the season, and the unbelievable fantastic dining experience at this venue. There is however a point of diminishing returns . Don't price yourself out of the market. read more

Another year in the books. The wife and I started our New Year's Eve party at Bon Appetit. Honestly it the perfect place for a date night or going for some drinks. They have an amazing view of the ocean with both in door and out door seating including an out door bar area. I have not gotten a chance to sit down and have a dinner here but had a cup of the lobster bisque and it is amazing. Chunks of lobster with a rich and creamy broth. Could have easily ordered a second cup. Also had there play on the old fashioned called Almond old fashioned. Not too bad and nice to sip on. I think I had just one too many drops of bitters but that also my taste. Topped with an orange and cherry's. Service was completely on top of it as it was very busy for being New Year's Eve. Bar staff kept checking on everyone, making sure they are all good or needed anything. I ordered my cup of lobster bisque and had it in front of me with a roll with in 5 mins. A sweet location right on the water, great views and a diverse menu is why we poked our heads in here for lunch. Apparently it's connected to the Best Western next door, but the vibe is not at all that of a hotel restaurant- it feels like its own thing, with lots of casual outdoor seating (with heaters and high tops at the bar area) but also a bit more elevated at the separate tented patio area where we ate. The menu is seafood-heavy but with a nice selection of everything from salads to soups to pasta, but the Salmon sandwich was the right call for me, even though the fish was a bit overcooked and the bread - well, there was a lot of it, and a bit more than I thought necessary. Still, on a clear December day with a view of the water, our vantage point did not suck. There's an adjacent pier you can walk out onto, and apparently there is seating on it for certain parts of the year. Add to that the fact that our server was professional, patient and efficient and full of good info, and you have a thumbs up consensus from everyone in our group. It's also just off the main drag of Dunedin so you can stroll around afterward to work off the meal. A very nice, slightly refined spot with great views that should please most. read more

Came in here the other weekend, and I have to say I was not that impressed. Coming in however, I loved the layout of the restaurant and that we had a view of the ocean. I loved the views from the inside of the restaurant. But the food here, I was not impressed with. To start, we ordered some drinks and the oysters. The drink I got was great, it was a spicy margarita and I loved it. The oysters were good, but some looked a bit off, so we didn't touch them. My bf and I ordered the French onion soup each and the ribeye to share. We were trying to eat light and thought it would be perfect. The soups were great but the steak and the sides it came with, not so much. The steak was cooked perfectly, however it lacked flavor. The coffee seasoning( I forget what it was) just did not have the best taste, it was missing something in my opinion. I believe it was paired with best and sweet potato mash, and they did not compliment the dish either. I looked over at my sisters plate which was the land and sea, and I could tell that the filet medallions looked so dry and were over cooked and she confirmed it. I also tried there risotto it came over, and it was not great. However the scallops were good. If I were to come back here it would not be for a steak, I probably shoulda have known better and ordered an entree with seafood but at the time the steak sounded delicious and I've had one that sounded similar to this one before, but it was not at all the same in taste. read more

Made a reservation for our family group of ten for my daughter's birthday. Was asked when making reservation with Tatiana and told her "Birthday". Text confirmation also asked what occasion was and again said Birthday. Miguel, our server, was difficult to understand due to his heavy accent. The restaurant's highlighted dishes on Miguel's tablet presentation were the restaurant's highest priced menu items. Quite bizarre was a bagpiper who came marching in playing the bagpipes as we were beginning to eat. Still don't understand what all that was, except to announce 4 men who were in gold colored sportcoats, and were golfers. The overall noise level in the restaurant is LOUD, VERY LOUD, not expected for a 'high-end' restaurant, but there it is. My wife correctly asked me why the restaurant asked what our occasion was when making reservations, and again when confirming reservations, when restaurant did nothing. Good question. Yes, the view is nice and this restaurant's reputation is overrated. Bring money, lots of money to pay the bill. Restaurant was crowded, very crowded, on a Monday night. Recommended by my son and I thank him for the recommendation, and we had a good, not an exceptional time. and I won't return with a large family party in the future. read more

The menu is on iPads, which is a little different to navigate. I think if older folks are not comfortable with technology that might be a problem. My husband ordered the crabcakes Benedict, which was also good, however it was placed upon a pancake, which threw us off a bit. We also ordered the waffle, which was incredible. The fruit was a little shriveled up, so it was not us physically, appealing as it could've been. But the taste and the whipped cream the homemade whipped cream was really really good. We ordered a couple of cocktails the watermelon And the cucumber both were really refreshing. We were able to sit right on the water, which was lovely. To start this off my brothers (one of which owns property in dunedin) have been here quite a few times. I have not ordered up a full entree so my experience will be based on mainly being outside. It is a pretty cool spot right on the edge of the coast and kinda funny where there is a bar and seating in the middle of a valet drop off. It is easiest coming here driving a cart since there is pretty limited spots. So either a ride share / uber / whatever is the best way to get here. The views are great at sunset, the staff is pretty good and the drinks are not to shabby. If it is uber busy you might have trouble catching your waiters attention but it was not really bad. The only thing i could ding them on is what you ordered and what shows up on the bill can vary but that was a super busy night. Also has live music now and again but can be a bit loud if you are in the outdoor bar near the parking where they setup. Overall a pretty cool experience and we went here about each night over an entire week. read more

It was like an open faced sandwich with fruit. The actual lobster roll was really good, but the fruit didn't really hit the spot for me. They do this so it is on the lighter side. If I go back, I'd request a different side. I got a dirty martini and it was pretty strong and good. I would get this again. The service here was great. I do have to say that our server was on point.
