We went back here tonight to dine in the restaurant and it was even better! The Thai iced tea was on point, and the Regent noodles (similar to drunken noodle but more vegetables) were fantastic, as was my husband's red curry (a generous portion and super flavorful). We also loved the crispy chicken (had more of a sweet and sour flavor, but with a Thai twist). Everything we've gotten here has been A++. Really love this restaurant and the service is so warm and efficient too. They are a real gem in the Dupont Circle/Adams Morgan area!

Street Food Pad Thai with Chicken and Crab Meat Fried Rice

Not my favorite Thai restaurant in the area but they do have decent outdoor seating. The inside of the restaurant is spacious. Was not busy at all when we arrived for dinner on a Friday evening. The Fried Calamari and Papaya Salad with Shrimp were tasty. The Street Food Pad Thai and Pla Lad Erik were underwhelming.

The Thai food is excellent and the service was great. Huge portions!!!!! Nice atmosphere inside. We were surprised the cashew shrimp was a little spicy. Otherwise everything was great.

Solid 3* showing. I enjoyed eating out on their patio on a beautiful spring DC day. Good service. Give them a try. I tried the Papaya Salad and Green Curry. Both were tasty. Lots of good flavors. The Papaya Salad had a nice spice kick while the Green Curry was mild. I enjoyed both. Happy they were willing to add broccoli and string beans to my order. I love veggies. If you live in the neighborhood, give them a try.

Vegetarian Garden Herb Rolls (came with 2)

I was visiting from out of town and needed some dinner on my way back to my Airbnb. I ordered takeout online from The Regent because it had decent reviews and was on the walk back. I got pad Thai with tofu and veggie rolls. I don't know if I had an off day or other reviewers haven't had good pad Thai but this was not great. Not the worst I've had but definitely not the best. First of all, there was hardly any egg or anything else in it except tofu and noodles. Also is was SO SPICY. I ordered medium spice because I do like a little kick but this was way too much. My mouth was on fire and my lips were burning. It really took away any pleasure from the meal because I was downing water for my burning mouth and having to get Kleenex for my running nose. Not the experience I was going for with my meal and I've never had "medium spice" be that hot. Veggie rolls were okay. Basically raw veggies wrapped up. Not exactly what I was expecting but it was fine. Logically, I wasn't given utensils even tho I requested them on the order. And the confirmation email doesn't have a pick up time which is strange. I gave it 20 minutes or so, to allow enough time. Food was okay but I wouldn't order from here again when I'm back in town.

Cashew Chicken (but with regular chicken, not fried)

We were in DC to see the Cherry Blossoms and wanted to find somewhere up near Adams Morgan for dinner. We're so glad we found The Regent Thai! The food was delicious and the people are so friendly. My wife had the Drunken Noodles (she asked for it not to be too spicy) and I had Cashew Chicken, but with regular chicken, not fried. Both were very good. I had a glass of Knob Creek bourbon and my wife had a Lemongrass Martini (which she loved). It was a Saturday night and it wasn't crowded (for our 6:30pm reservation). If you're in the area, you need to try this restaurant.

Basil Fried Rice Tofu Vegetarian Entree

I wanted to like this place so badly as it is the closest Thai to my place and I constantly crave basil fried rice and panang curry. I got the basil fried rice with tofu as a pickup. The food itself was good though the sizes of the tofu were really inconsistent so some of it was very chewy while other pieces were perfect. I was really disappointed that the man at the front desk was not wearing a mask. Additionally, I have never gotten such bad food poisoning from a restaurant in DC. I picked up my food within 10/15 minutes of ordering and ate it as soon as I got home and didn't even have any meat so it's almost impressive.

Fried rice with basil and beef. Nothing special

Early dinner mid week. Good Thai food but nothing special. Crispy rolls were pale and not really crispy. Main course: ginger pork with rice and fried rice with basil and beef. The latter was quite blah and not spicy at all even though it was marked 2 on the hotness scale ( was supposed to be mild). Ginger pork was better I. Terms of flavors but not hot at all. I guess if one wants any level of hotness ( I prefer modicum or mild, my husband - hot and very hot). Service was excellent, friendly and quick, will rate at 5 out of 5.

Pad Thai

Good Thai place. It has nice decor and ambiance. The vegetarian spring rolls were good. The tom yum soup was flavorful and tangy, it hadmore tofu than expected and less soup. The vegetarian pad Thai didn't have the color I'm used to but the flavor was all there. My friends Thai red curry had a lot of vegetables in it, more so than curry and a lot of big bamboo shoots, but the flavor was there.

I grew up on Thai/Lao food, and cook it often at home. Trust me when I tell you this place pretty good. I don't live in the area, but from the looks of it there aren't too many options in DC. When I asked for Thai Hot, they actually did it! It got me sweating, but it was so tasty. I had the Drunken Noodles with Chicken. It had a lot of flavor and the noodles were just perfect, not too soft or too hard. My friends and I picked at each others food, and everything tasted great. Friendly and fast service. Large and spacious venue. We walked from our hotel, so I'm not sure how parking is in the area. Check out my photos. P.S. A good indicator on finding good Asian food is to look for the restaurant with the most Asians. That won't fly here, because you won't find very many Asians. So when in doubt, refer to yelp!

Under new management. Not a Thai person in sight. Pad Thai was super sweet & gooey. Worst I've ever had.

We ordered pad thai and drunken noodels. The food was not tasty and lacked flavor. It was too dry.

The…read morevarious menus I searched through online were a little unclear, but their current one at the time of my visit offered ample detail on vegetarian/vegan items, of which there were plenty. I sampled a crispy rice salad and some drunken noodles, expecting to eat about half of each. The salad was fantastic, with the light texture of the crispy rice allowing the aroma of lime, chili, and various other flavors to percolate through it. I asked them to hit me with the full spice level for my drunken noodles, and they were venomous, even once I had gotten used to them. The people were preparing some spice trays to be used for ad hoc seasoning, but I had no need of any further chili. A Thai iced tea with lychee I thought was going to be a milk tea, as the term Thai iced tea normally connotes, but it was in fact just tea with fruit. Still good though, and it came with one full lychee. Some of the other people eating around me noted that they planned on leftovers and instead ate everything they got, a comment that the portions aren't huge but also that the flavors are captivating. I finished mine too.

We had major indecision because there's SO many things on the menu we wanted to try but ended up getting: Naem khao: 4/5 probably better with the sour pork, but loved how fresh this was. It was a large portion too, so we got kind of full from finishing it before our mains even arrived. Shrimp pad see ew: 5/5 the best pad see ew I've had in the DMV. So much wok fire flavor. You can really taste the caramelization. And the large shrimp were velveted which was made it extra satisfying to eat. Also a good shareable portion size! Muu Som: 4/5 this was super rich and heavy. Would get this again only to share with a larger group. Loved that it came with sticky rice. Mango sticky rice: 4/5 delicious but in my opinion didn't need the ice cream on top (my boyfriend thinks otherwise though). Very large portion as well. The cocktails were a little pricy ($15) for what they were but I did love the tamarind margarita. Just wish it was a larger drink or a smaller price tag. Service was very attentive!

I actually intended to try out the Trini Vybez restaurant next door, but discovered they're closed but their signage is still up. Anyways, I got a seat at the bar for myself and service was great. I was a bit indecisive as the menu is pretty extensive, and I've never eaten Laotian food before. Luckily, it was happy hour, so I was able to sample a couple of their appetizers and their daiquiri which was quite strong. I had the Tam Sum, papaya salad and that was very good with a hint of spice and lime. Then, I also had Chuenh Peek Gai, which was tamarind glazed wings. Omg they were savory and crispy! I loved these. For the entree, the bartender recommended some great options, but I finally settled on Kee Mao, which is flattened rice noodles with stir fry beef and vegetables. It was also a very savory dish, with a sweetness to it. Laotian food is very similar to Thai food and I love Thai food. I will not sleep on this restaurant and will be back soon!!

Corn coated in a thin layer of tempura batter, fried until crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, showcasing its natural sweetness and slightly chewy texture. It was somewhat like a Chinese yumi-lao玉米烙 but more moist. The most surprising thing was that despite being entirely vegetarian food, it has the sweetness and meaty texture of fried shrimp paste. The sweet and sour sauce is similar to the Thai sweet chili sauce commonly found in China, but thinner. Served in a small cup, it looked like a cup of black tea, making it more refreshing. Grilled Pork Neck: Very different from pork neck in Chinese Thai cuisine; it's more like Cantonese char-siu叉燒. The pork neck was very well marinated and grilled to a very tender perfection, with a rich and smooth honey aroma, and a subtle wine aftertaste, but it was slightly too sweet for me. Nam Jin Jaew was primarily composed of the tangy kick of lime and the savory saltiness of fish sauce, complemented by the mild spiciness of bird's eye chili, the special fragrance of cilantro, and the sweetness of palm sugar, with a subtle hint of smokiness. It was refreshing on the whole, and incredibly layered - I fell in love with it instantly. Tom Saab Soup: It looked light, but it was surprisingly spicy and sour! The ribs were very fresh, all marbled with fat and lean meat, stewed until incredibly tender, allowing you to taste the natural aroma of the meat. The sourness was subtle, clear, and mild, with a base of lemongrass fragrance that added even more depth. My friend thoughtfully ordered it mildly spicy, but in the end, it just felt like it lacked a kick. Mango Sticky Rice: The best mango sticky rice I've ever had! The sticky rice was cooked to perfect texture and warmth, absorbing the coconut milk flawlessly - neither too watery nor too dry. The first taste was the fragrance of glutinous rice, followed by the sweetness of coconut milk, and a refreshing, slightly tart mango to cut through the richness. Thai Iced Tea: Too much condensed milk, excessively sweet. My friend said it was much sweeter than the last time she had it. Was this a change in the recipe, or did the quality control need improvement? Donsak is a district in Surat Thani, Thailand, and also the hometown of the restaurant's co-owner and manager, Boom, where she was born and raised. The restaurant's introduction states: "When she left for the US, Boom didn't know she wouldn't get to see her home again for many years - and she still hasn't. Donsak is a way around that." No wonder what truly touches the heart, is indeed the taste of love and home.
