Food was amazing. The wonton wrapped shrimp with bang-bang sauce was fabulous. Tried alligator for the first time in years and was way better than I remembered. The spinach artichoke dip was served with fries bow tie pasta and I'm obsessed. I ordered the crab cake for dinner. It was ok, not the best I've had, but overall pretty good. The creamed spinach was amazing. The service was spot on. The waitress kept our drinks filled and quickly filled our order. We ate outside on the deck. The food is always delicious and served quickly. Service is excellent and tonight Dana took good care of us even though the restaurant was very busy. Friday and Saturday they boil crawfish so everyone is there! Ambiance is Cajun inspired and the restaurant sits on Lake Arthur with beautiful views of the lake. They also have outside dining and a boat dock for those on the water coming to eat. Always make a point of eating here at least twice when we are in town. Highly recommend The Regatta! Once more, the Regatta gives great value, and is worth a drive. Went for Memorial Sunday lunch, over on IH10, back home on back roads. Great foods, good if amateurish service, super digs & view. Location is neat, on the north shore of Lake Arthur. Hostess were super friendly. Since it is in a small town off the beaten path, the crowd was great. Well worth your time to drive there. The food was perfect. Had four of us. The large seafood plate was over flowing. The oyster poor-boy was over full. Had to take some oysters off just to close up the bread. Blooming onion was great. Loved the seasoning. Too full to do desert. Outside seating would have made our stay better but Mother Nature was fussing with 25/30 mph winds. Next time If you want Cajun style food, go there. First time visiting The Regatta. The grilled redfish with lump crabmeat was great. I would also recommend the fish bites as an appetizer. Our waitress did a great job with the large group we had. Beautiful place, large outdoor seating area with a beautiful view, friendly service. Large menu with many great options to choose from. Nice big parking area. Nothing too salty or too spicy. A prime example of how to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. For years my wife and I were external champions of Regatta. But a series of management changes, missteps and loss of focus has taken its toll. Three times in a row we have been seated and forgotten. We brought an out of town guest for lunch yesterday to enjoy the view from the outside deck, but were again stranded, even after walking inside and advising the staff (we were very nice about it). When another table just seated was attended to with drinks as we waited, we bailed. Three strikes. I hope Regatta finds its way again, but after giving them multiple chances to succeed, we've given up. Your experience may be different, and frankly I hope it is. But restaurant service shouldn't be a casino. To other veteran Yelpers I can only say, Regatta is no longer a reliable destination. read more

As a kid I've always only passed this restaurant in the river while in the boat. You'd think with all the talk it would be a lot better than what it was! The food had little to no taste which is odd because like.. South Louisiana right? Idk. The menu was very disappointing. There wasn't much to choose from at all. I enjoyed the coffee but.. that's about it. We did have a big table so I'll give our server some credit for handling us well.. but it took her about 35 minutes to cash us all out. I'm a server so I understand the hassle of a big table but.. it doesn't take that long lol. The food is delicious. It was served piping hot and was seasoned well. The seafood enchiladas are the best I've eaten. The only bad item was the potato salad. It was dry and unseasoned. The view on the patio on a great summer day that wasn't to hot would have made most meals great. But fortunately the food was great. The soft shell crabs were a bit small but the flavor made up for it. The crabs were fresh had a nice crunchy cornmeal crust one one and the other was pan fried with no crust which in this case amounted to a more flavorful crab. Beware!! We went here this past weekend, and it was a hot mess! To start, we sat at the table for 25 minutes before someone even took an appetizer order. Alcoholic drinks were the only thing all night to arrive at the table in a timely fashion. After being at the table for 45 minutes and still receiving no food, we had to ask for an update and ask if they could take our entrees order. Our food came out at various times and several items never came out, and then we were told they "ran out." So we had people that had completely finished their entree when others were just getting their salad. Terrible experience and to top it off, the food was just meh. Regatta has been one of my favorites when visiting. Tonight, went after the Jennings Mardi Gras parade. Was seated almost immediately. Couldn't figure why. I ordered the soft shell crabs with crawfish Mac and cheese. $24.00, Plate arrived with 2-2" soft shell crabs, half of another and a claw. My family asked "what is that?" Crabs had no breading and were awfully cooked. No crawfish in the Mac n cheese. The restaurant was bought by a couple and by what I saw tonight, has run into the ground. Has changed the menu. My family and I visited this restaurant for the first time and it was amazingly delicious! Hidden gem at the finest. I had the crispy duck with cane syrup, paired with creamed spinach. If you've been wanting to try an excellent duck dish, this is the place for it! We also shared the crawfish mudhole for dessert. More than enough for two people! read more

Disclaimer: I did not eat here. We were passing through town and wanted to stop here for dinner, drinks, and the view. Being very COVID conscious, I called first to make sure they were abiding by the recommended CDC guidelines. The first person we talked to sounded pretty shifty when I asked about this and transferred us to the manager (I think), who was just plain rude and condescending. I hope they are being Covid safe, and I would have loved to have eaten here! But I suspect I was being lied to about their Covid precautions and at any rate, I think being that rude to a potential customer is just bad form. read more

I asked for two servings of extra croutons and was given only 7 after I noticed I had none with my salads. On top of that, I wasn't given any silverware or napkins and when I asked they were "out". Very inviting atmosphere, friendly staff, super clean, Did I mention how clean it was!! Came for lunch, the guys ordered burgers they were huge. Gator & deep fried green bean appetizers were yummy! Food came out fast fresh & hot. I had the Rueben it was fantastic, thick corn beef! Only downside I wish the day was nicer so we could have sat outside. Great location on the on the lake. Launched the boat at Mermantau, La. Rode down the river about 25 minutes to Lake Arthur. The restaurant has a wharf to accommodate many size boats. There outdoor patio is comfortable with a beautiful view of the lake. The food and service was excellent. Our server, Katelyn was very attentive. We used to visit the regatta weekly before they changed the menu and the chef. They used to serve broccoli boulettes that were fabulous and several people asked that it remain on the menu but you can no longer get them. The new menu has a stuffed shrimp appetizer that was absolutely wonderful but the third time I ordered it, the chef changed it. It now has a very thick panko breading that overwhelms the wonderful flavors of the shrimp and stuffing. They no longer have their catfish bites or the lunch menu. Being a seafood restaurant in south Louisiana, one would expect, at the very least, good seafood....however this is not the case. The fried oysters were over cooked and a little seasoning goes a long way. Tried fixing it with their house hot sauce, but discovered it is only red vinegar. We have friends in abbeville la that we visit regularly. We eat at the Regatta almost every trip. The food and the atmosphere were always excellent. My last visit was disappointing. The crawfish etouffe was blonde in color and had maybe 6 crawfish in it. The potato salad had undercooked potatoes. The side salad was a bowl of lettuce with a small, small piece of tomato. It's a beautiful restaurant on Lake Arthur, the cooking definitely needs to improve before I return. read more
