We stopped by for lunch on our travels through Louisiana. We both had their specialty Cajun Burger (regular size) it was very flavorful and just enough spice. We shared an order of onion rings that were obviously hand made and would have been spectacular if they were hot. Service was friendly but the waitress never came back to our table and my husband would have liked more tea. This place was packed with locals and everyone new everyone else. There is a different waitress at window who is extremely rude and doesn't care if your order is correct. NEVER smiles. And if you tell the waitress that I believe is lead waitress seems to have been there a long time noting is done. We have asked to speak to owner several times to no avail. We have stopped ordering food because of the rudeness and incorrect orders it incorrectly made orders. No one seems to care. We use to order at least three times a week and eat inside once a week. But the carelessness and rudeness is too much. I don't have to spend my money there. read more

On a recommendation we rerouted to Kaplan so we could have a late lunch at Mickey's. We had to trust 1. Our navigation system and 2. Our judgment on what looked like a drive in restaurant because we didn't notice a sign. While they do have a walk up ordering window, they also have plenty of comfortable seating inside. We walked in with five of us and we're greeted and seated right away. There were just three other tables but it was about 2:00. Quick table service took our orders. We shared a large onion ring order and everyone ordered from their varied burger selection and some form of fries. The regular burger is plenty, but if your a little hungrier or want to leave with leftovers, get the jumbo, it's about 2oz more and for I think less than a buck more. Very reasonable priced menu. The burgers are hand pressed so they have a home burger feel to them. The buns are toasted. I have to say it's one of the best burgers I've had in a while. I got it with the Cajun sauce which did not over power the other flavors and is just a tad of spice. The onion rings were good but the sweet potato fries were absolutely THE BEST I HAVE TASTED, and I have had them all over. The ranch dressing is really good, and not sweet. They have a selection of blue bell ice cream; I think they may do a little ice cream parlor business in the afternoons and evenings because it's in the big tubs in a cooler in front. Mickey's was recommended to us by a colleague, and I was suitably impressed. I had a stuffed hamburger steak, the server forewarned me that it takes twenty minutes to prepare, and it was well worth the wait. It was seasoned perfectly for my taste, it was a generous portion size and cooked just right. My wife had chicken tenders and they were very good. Again, seasoned just right for her and very reminiscent of the chicken served at Raising Canes, and another good sized portion. Service was very attentive and friendly. Another small town restaurant that makes eating in Louisiana what it is! Worth a special trip. The only caveat I would give for this place is that the food may be a little spicy for anyone not used to Louisiana cuisine. read more

Mickey's has been a Kaplan staple for years. It's one of the few good places to eat around here. The burgers are great. Fried food, the same. The cops come from surrounding communities to eat here. We frequently eat here and the food is 90% of the time perfect, just add salt, haha! The only issue that I have had time and time again, is the wait-staff. They have mood swings! One day they are amazing, and the next they make me never want to go back. This is typical of a local, small town restaurant, so I won't dwell on it. Other than that, the food is amazing and I HIGHLY recommend the EGG BURGER!! Make sure your waitress understands that you want a burger with an egg on it and NOT an egg sandwich (this burger IS on the menu, and is clearly a burger with an egg on it). There is one or two who work there who need to review the menu a few times. The owner is super nice to us every time we have gone in. I highly recommend this place to anyone passing through or local families looking for a convenient place to bring the kids! read more
