I've been here for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late night munchies. It's always been top notch. The kitchen is always busy, but the service is timely. This is my go to place for the perfect Reuben sandwich! It's also my go to place when I'm craving a hamburger steak, or meatloaf, or just about anything else on their menu! But that Popeye's omelette is tops on my breakfast list! The diner setting is a throwback to the 50s and 60s, so if you're into chrome and formica this is your place! Sit down here, don't order to go. This place is so cute, and gives the true diner vibe, with that being said I ordered to go food because they don't have any outside seating and I was sad to say my onion rings were soggy, but they had good breading if they would have been fresh! The red beans and rice would have been delicious if I would have got the size that comes with meat, but it seems the one I got was only beans and rice no meat. So disappointing there. But the burgers flavor was delicious and I would recommend you going to sit there and get a burger in location, just not exactly pick up or to go read more

Fast and quick service in this cute and quirky diner, we were really impressed with the delicious caramel ice coffee and high-quality beef. My husband and I ordered the cheeseburger omelet and Big Mike special, two dishes that both included well-seasoned and high quality angus beef. My cheeseburger omelet in particular was absolutely delicious--a medley of beef, onions, mushrooms, peppers and cheddar cheese. The biscuits, on the other hand, were grainy and glazed with sweet butter, and ultimately a menu item that we really didn't care for. They also lacked structural integrity, and appeared to be lacking a crispy and buttery exterior. It's not on the menu so you'll have to request it when ordering! I highly recommend it for a vegetarian option. Delicious!!! The food is plentiful in portions but the hamburger steak was lacking seasoning! I didn't eat it! The onion rings were big and good but again no real flavor! The club sandwiches were good & presented nicely! No one at the table ate the fries so I tasted one since fries are usually loved by all and they tasted different... ‍ not sure why but the oil had an odd flavor! Restaurant was clean and featured a devbt atmosphere, 50's diner vibe. Self-seating but service was fast, polite and responsive. Food was OK but nothing to crow about. Grits were kind of bland and a tad watery. Restaurants really need to learn to salt the water before cooking them. Buttermilk pancakes were "heavy". Menu says "hash browns" but these were browned potato wedges or chunks. read more

I loved the decoration and vibe of this restaurant. I also appreciated when we went on a Sunday at noon we had the option to pick from the breakfast or lunch menu. My boyfriend thought his breakfast platter was a great deal and the quality of his food was great. I had the blackened catfish salad and the salad and fish was nice and fresh. My daughter, 19 years old, ordered her usual from here- a kids grilled cheese. She didn't think it was a big deal because she's ordered this many many times. Today, the manager/owner (not 100% sure of his title) came out and YELLED at her, BERATED her, and EMBARRASSED her in a dining room full of customers. His behavior was unprofessional, uncalled for and disgusting. If there was an issue with her ordering a kid's cheese sandwich the waitress should not have allowed it and this man could have merely informed her that from now on she could not ordere off the kids menu. If you have social anxiety, a dislike of being embarrassed and bullied, a fear of being publicly shamed, DON'T eat here. The food is awesome! The place has a fifties vibe and it's clean! There's like 3 dining areas we sat in the front near the kitchen. How in the heck have I not heard about Hub City Diner is beyond me, but now that I know this place exists I will most certainly be a regular. I love diner type places so much. The laid back atmosphere gets my laid back style and there's something about being perfectly comfortable, you know? It's like going home or eating at your granny's house. So, the vibe here? YES all the way. I liked it so much I visited twice last week. The food was pretty good. Each time I had the grilled catfish with rice pilaf and broccoli. The grilled catfish is drowned in butter as is the broccoli but it's a damn good choice if you're doing low carb. It's delicious. I only took a small bite of the rice and it was cooked perfectly. Took a yelp recommendation and gave this place a shot. Service was amazing waitress was very attentive. Atmosphere was spot on. Prices were too good to be true. Food was fabulous! We had the meatloaf plate, red beans and rice, cheeseburgers, sweet potato fries, fried pickles, chicken and sausage gumbo. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Great lunch blackened catfish with shrimp ettouffee was delicious great spicy level and coating on the catfish. The shrimp were plentiful. But only draw back is the restaurant has minimal space to move around. Being disabled and needing crutches I have to really be careful when going to a seat. Went in and met some wonderfully friendly servers. I was very hungry and craving some country fried steak and eggs. My drinks and order arrived very fast. Here is where things went bad, my toast was burnt. The restaurant was only open 5 minutes upon my arrival but the steak was barely warm, the white gravy was brown and the consistency of water. I ate most of it because I had to take medicine and I was hungry but I couldn't stomache finishing the meal. When asked I informed the server I wasn't pleased, although she asked if I wanted anything else she didn't ask what was wrong. I informed her I would go to McDonald's to finish eating and before I even left she obviously went into the back and you could tell she was talking about me. Sitting in the car writing this review she was obviously taking about me again in the front of the house in front of customers. Not very professional, of I am going to spend 20 dollars on breakfast it should at least be hot, fresh and edible, and I shouldn't be made to feel like the kid in school with people obviously talking about me behind my back. Now I have eaten here a few times and this is the first time the food was bad and I was made to feel uncomfortable by the staff. I hope they learn something from this review. read more

Parking was good but we were there 8:30. My omelette was very good. Coffee was good. Beignets were a bit harder that expected. Hash browns were my weak piece. They were good but hard and big. Hub City Diner offers decent food with very cool 50's diner atmosphere. On a recent trip to Lafayette I decided to stop here for lunch. Upon entering it was if I had been transported back to the 1950's. The whole restaurant had the old feel with a jukebox prominently displayed by the front door and retro styled booths. I decided to keep it simple and ordered a cheeseburger with atomic fries. According to the menu the atomic fries were the standard curly fries topped with cheese, chili and jalapenos. What I didn't know was that the cheese was liquid nacho style cheese. The fries would have been significantly better had they used actual shredded cheese. The burger was good, but not great. Since I wasn't asked how I wanted it cooked, I assume all burgers are cooked medium well. Maybe it is my fault for not asking, but to me it seemed overcooked. I realize some places do this for food safety reasons, but I do not like burgers cooked that well.
