I love a restaurant with comfort food & a theme! The Red Caboose has trains running overhead, food served hot to our table and absolutely personal, friendly wait staff. We felt right at home. We had lunch, which was delicious. A burger cooked perfectly as requested & a sourdough party melt. The fries were just as good as the onion rings!? How often does that happen!? Also, when you order - you can request half fries and half onion rings. Yes please! Our sodas were never less than half empty before they filled them up again. The parking was easy - right out front. The price was the same as it us everywhere else, about $45. The theme, good food and great service will bring us back again. We had a good time! read more

This was the first time in three years to eat here. I remember the food being better, delicious. But today, the "biscuits" were more like cupcakes with gravy. The gravy had "strings of ham fat" in it, not any sausage. The omelet had lots of small 1/8" chopped Ortega chili pieces, but very few smaller sized pieces of sausage, the primary ingredient of the omelet. The hash browns were ordered extra crispy , but came dripping in grease and barely crisp. Upon entering, I was asked how many, I said one and I was told to sit over there. After sitting a few minutes, two men came in, were politely seated, asked about beverages, and given menus. Finally, a waitress came to give me a menu and brought coffee. Let's just say I love me some breakfast but sweet baby Jesus do I absolutely hate waiting for a table. That being said my wife and I found this place by accident and decided to try it out. Well boy am I glad we did, food is good, coffee is fresh, and the service is on point! I've been here about 5 times now and 4/5 times I waited less then 5 minutes! I've sifted through their menu and had multiple dishes and damn they keep on delivering! The food is consistently good and in this day and age that's hard to find! However there is one issue. I live close and damn do they know how to cook their potatoes. Lately it's been so hard to say no to some country potatoes, sadly they may be the death of me. I walked in with a party of 7 they looked over whelmed sat us on the patio looked at the menu was not impressed 10 min later A waitresses came and took are drink order waited another 10-15 min for are drinks had to get up and go get are own creamer because the never brought it to us we ordered are food and it took for ever to get it came out and all I'm going to say is where is the FLAVOR it was awful potatoes hard as rock Soggy waffles and the biscuit is a muffin gravy has to be from A bag it missed A stop at flavortown and a guest in are party ordered the machaca with no egg waitresses comes back and says do you want the chips that are mixed in with ‍‍ It was not good at all I will definitely not be going here again sorry read more

When we got there the line was out the door, people inside and outside waiting. Thought it will be a long wait but only 15 minutes as said at the door Cute lil town restaurant. Nothing I been to before. So many on the menu to decides. I got myself the Norm's omelette and substitute one of the sides for totts -they given me a huge side portion than expected! Super happy with my eyes widen with whoa! The omelette is well balance with all the ingredients, not overloaded or bland. It's super hot today -I'm in shorts and tank top. The food dropped in quality after Covid and it seems to be getting worse. The food is at or lower than. Denny's or IHOP. Breakfast eggs are always cold and don't bother sending it back because you don't get new cold ones until your breakfast is almost gone. Dinner quality was a B and now it's a C minus. Food taste boxed and canned and not fresh. This used to be a great place to go but now it's convenient only. Melinda has been there awhile and is always friendly to the customers and knows the menu well. It seems as if the current waitresses are not as friendly and don't have much experience. If you sit at the bar you can look at the box wine that is served and has been sitting on a shelf for awhile. The waitresses fold napkins and complain because the business next door is busy and they have to bring over food. Yes, how terrible that you have a job and the business you work for is busy due to another business next door. The girls complain how napkins have to be folded a specific way. The girls are putting in silverware wrap with a napkin. We are not eating at a nice restaurant this is a little country diner that local people go to since it's near by. Both owners seem as if they have had enough of the business, they both look bothered to talk to people and irritated also about the business next door. You are the business and should appreciate your staff and customers instead of looking pissed off all of the time. read more

COVID-19 Phase: My mother ordered the eggs benedict and she asked if hash browns or country potatoes were wanted with it. My mother just asked for fruit instead. We went to get it. The restaurant was clean and really nice. Decorated to make you feel like you're at grandma's. Cute little trinkets everywhere. The worker was masked, and wished her a good day! We split the eggs benediction. My half was delicious! Great Hollandaise sauce was really good and everything was cooked perfectly. My mother said her half was really good too! I was craving for some brunch when I woke up this afternoon and decided to give The Red Caboose Cafe a shot. After disappointing meal that I had yesterday with the tamales and Buffalo wings today was a lot better. I called for a phone order pick up the woman I believe who took my order was the owner and I was suprised for a large order I placed she's 100% got it right. I ordered the following for today's good brunch. Side of biscuit and gravy 3/5 I wish the biscuits was more flakey and more flavor from the gravy still it wasn't too bad. Crinkle cut fries 3/5 I knew these fries would be soft not crispy when doing take out. Breakfast burritos 4/5 not too bad I like it here better than suckleberry oops I meant Huckleberry LMAO. You can really taste the homemade ingredients and big chunks of bacon. The burrito itself was a good size not too big or too small with nice flavor. Call them what you want flap jacks or monster size pancakes 4/5 I was surprise these were hugh, light, fluffy and they're good. Pancakes combo 4/5 good size portions and good tasting pancakes combo meal. Small pepperoni pizza 3/5 yet so simple that taste not too bad the only draw back the sauce was coldler than normal. Lemonade 4/5 you can tell it's freshly made and tasted good but I prefer mine more tart. Chefs salad 4/5 good size portions and they used real oven baked turkey, the croutons can be much better from Texas Roadhouse and the Cheesecake Factory. Service 4/5 I got my food quick and nothing was missing with this large order I placed and the woman aka the owner was really nice on the phone i can tell she was busy and she was in a hurry but she still got my order 100%. I like eating at the Red Caboose Cafe their food tasted like homemade not that canned or microwave taste. Hopefully one day I can enjoy my meal there so it will be freshly made and hot when I eat it. Good job Red Caboose after so many disappointing restaurants I've been to you guys made it possible to satisfy my hunger and appetite and taste buds. Bit of a drive from the other end of Fresno, but my wife picked this place for a breakfast date. Very welcoming and quick to get a table during a busy morning. I ordered the western omelette and hash browns, my wife ordered a scramble with a biscuit on the side. We both enjoyed our meals! My wife loved the biscuit, it was dense but still light and moist! This is my go to breakfast spot. It's a little far from my house about 15-20 minutes, but it's so good I don't mind the drive. Anytime I'm wanting a delicious and well prepared breakfast this is the first spot I think of. I love how the owner (I think he's the owner) is always there and always checking in to make sure everything's going good. The food is phenomenal and so is the service. The servers are also always are checking in to make sure you're doing OK and that your drink is filled. They have a super cute train on the ceiling which is a fun addition for kids and just cute in general. I love how Fox News is on the TV and cholula hot sauce is on the table. read more

The good: We were seated quickly. There were lots of choices of food, and the food itself had a nice combination of ingredients. I especially like their options with green chiles added; you don't see that too often and it's an underrated ingredient. We received our food in a timely manner. The meh: We were asked for our drink order four different times; apparently they weren't sure who our server was? The place itself is kind of janky, with chipped paint, scratched tables, and everything just seemed kind of thrown together. There's a toy train track that goes around the perimeter of the ceiling that was clearly mounted on cheap plywood painted black. At no point during our visit did the toy train ever go by. The food itself was just fine. They choose their ingredients well and that makes the food tasty, but none of the ingredients were particularly fresh or well-made. The green beans were clearly from a can and the fries were typical frozen bagged fries bought at the grocery store, with no seasoning added whatsoever. The bad: The service, other than bringing food, was non-existent. No drink refills were offered. We were brought a single napkin, the one used to wrap the silverware, along with our very greasy meals. When the food came, we requested more; they brought us one additional napkin. The person who eventually decided to serve us was very focused on processing us; she wanted us to tell her everything as fast as possible and didn't want to give us even a second longer than she had to, and it showed. Overall, this place was fine. I wouldn't balk at coming back, but I wouldn't recommend it either. For how far out of town it is, I expected it to be spectacular; generally, restaurants this far out of town have that welcoming vibe to them, and the food generally tastes very homemade and fresh.
