I try and make my own decisions on a new location. The Yelp reviews were not the best and sadly I have to agree with some of the prior comments. The ambiance was great. New interior with a nice ranch vibe. Service was good on the onset but tapered off after an about 15 minutes. The order was a porter house steak, a version of filet minion tips and two sides (tapas). Lots of moving around by servers but not many plates making it out of the kitchen. 45 minutes later the steaks arrive just above room temperature. The. Potato side was nice and hot. I believe they waited on the potato side and let the steaks and roasted veggies sit. Disappointing to say the least. Another more senior server tried to make it right by offering to re-fire the steaks but we declined. The wait and lukewarm warm steak killed the vibe. The place was OK with a healthy sized check. I hope they get things together soon. We will give them a try in the spring. read more

Food was amazing!! There have been mixed reviews on service and food, we personally didn't have any issues. It started raining pretty hard so the entryway was difficult to maneuver with everyone trying to stay out of the rain. We had reservations and showed up 15 minutes early with our table ready. Miguel was our waiter and he was amazing! All his suggestions were spot on and he explained everything on the menu as soon as he came to our table. Scallops were tender and flavorful and were a decent size. Only came with 3 but was more than enough for 2 to share. Octopus was also cooked to perfection. Also tender and not chewy like most places. Best part was the crispy potatoes. A little salty for my palate but still good. Ribeye with bone marrow butter was probably one of the better steaks we've had at a restaurant. Just the right amount of fat to meat and tender enough to cut with a butter knife. One thing I can appreciate is it didn't have that nasty piece of tendon that runs through most ribeyes u get at restaurants and grocery stores. Also had the Dungeness crab cake with risotto. Not really a fan of risotto but the flavors melded well and was divine! Service wasn't bad for a Saturday night without long waits between appetizers and entrees and all the staff were nice and pleasant. A bit pricey but definitely worth it for a special occasion or a long needed date night! read more

We have been to a lot of steakhouses in the past. My husband loves a good steak. The service was good. The ambiance was great. The food was ok. My husband and daughter liked their steaks and my other daughter liked her stuffed gnocchi. I got the salmon and I wasn't really a fan. It was undercooked. Be prepared to spend here. The portions are very small for all of the sides. We spent 400 for four people. We drove down to try this restaurant specifically. I would rather eat somewhere else for the price. We won't go back but it was a nice to try something new. The food wasn't worth the drive and the price to me. read more

Our reservation was made on 12/28/2025 to celebrate a birthday. The birthday was clearly communicated in the virtual reservation and again to the second server (the first server did not ask). We were originally a party of four and modified it to five through the restaurant, which resulted in our reservation being moved from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. We accepted this change. Upon arrival, we were seated at a table set for only four guests and had to request a fifth place setting. The fifth guest was seated on the end, using a chair from the empty table next to us. Shortly after, the hostess asked that guest to move to a smaller chair, stating that the adjacent table was reserved. However, no one was ever seated at that table during the 2.5 hours we were there. This was inconvenient and felt inconsiderate. Four of the five guests drove from Madera, CA, excited to try this new restaurant, so the experience was especially disappointing. While the staff was friendly when we did see them, service was infrequent for the length of time we were dining--something that could be verified via restaurant cameras. The restaurant itself is beautiful and intentionally decorated, but unfortunately, the service and food did not reflect the ambiance or the price point. Additionally and mostly importantly, we ordered the dishes posted below (5 meals total): we think something was off in your kitchen because walking out some weren't good feeling. The next day 4 of 5 of us have upset stomach still. We are just disappointed. One star is given solely for the atmosphere. We would like to visit again, but likely only after the restaurant shows improvement. read more

I had dinner here Saturday night: bone in ribeye with a side of their fried potatoes. The steak was cooked to perfection, the bone butter add on was good but not what I expected. Went tonight for my son's birthday. James was our server, he was exceptional! We were welcomed and sat promptly. We loved the decor. We ordered the bread and pork belly for our apps. Very yummy! The ribeye was a little thin but cooked perfect. Tiramisu at the end was made with precise. All the flavors were perfect. Will definitely come again. Also we were a party of 8. They were very accommodating to our party of five that did not have a reservation. As a service industry worker, I understand that we got lucky when we were moved from a beautiful patio table to an inside table. So I will definitely recommend making a reservation. All of the appetizers and cocktails that we tried were excellent! Each of our meals were unique and we enjoyed sharing the generous portions. Our experience concluded with the crème brûlée and the three layer pistachio cake. Yum!! Such a perfect cherry on top! We will definitely be back to try different items on the menu. For a fairly new restaurant, I am impressed and I am looking forward to returning soon. read more

I was a little worried because I saw the Yelp reviews.... went anyway & it was great. Me and my husband enjoyed ourselves. The atmosphere is nice. You can dress up or dress down and feel comfortable either way. There is a "bar" area where you can see them cook or a "cold box" area that is normal restaurant seating. The Teres major 10 oz. and Filet mignon tips pasta were both good. The chile relleno was excellent. ALL the servers were very kind. Our server Micheal was excellent. He had perfect timing. He magically appeared when we had questions or needed anything. We will definitely be back. Good time. read more

My fiancé took me here for my birthday dinner and all I can say was that it was great. The service was fantastic and our waiter Miguel was awesome. Food came out in a timely manner and we didn't feel rushed. For starters I had the rodeo queen which is now my ultimate favorite and my fiancé had the smoked old fashioned. For our appetizer we had the mozzarella prosciutto croquettes which was so good! For our main entree we had medium rare bone in New York steaks which were well seasoned sadly we forgot to order the steak enhancements but nevertheless the steaks were still delicious. For our sides we chose the smoked bacon Mac & cheese which was very good and the most creamy mashed potatoes I've very had. Sadly I was a bit disappointed with the broccolini the flavor was there loved the spicy sauce that was with it but I feel that it was blanched too quickly then sautéed the texture was really hard to chew my mouth felt like it had a workout. Then finally dessert! We had the pistachio layered cake and the tiramisu and both were to died for! The pistachio cake was so good I'm definitely going to daydream about it for a while! Overall 9.8/10 the vibe was very ranch like with a twist of class. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes steaks. read more

So I came to The Ranch feeling very excited! I decided to try this place because I kept seeing it all over their social media. I went in without any expectations. Cons: Do not get the bread unless you want to pay. They kinda make it seem free but word it in a way that can be taken "free" but if you listen really closely the waiter will state "would you like me to add bread to get you started?" Their menu lists sourdough and focaccia at $7 each, but we only received sourdough. I feel like we shouldn't have been charged full price for something that wasn't accurate to the menu description. The restaurant serves a la carte, so you pay separately for your meat and sides. I don't mind that, but if a ribeye is $70, I expect it to be the best cut of meat I ever tasted! It makes me question what makes their meat worth the higher price. They also didn't have house-made ranch...ONLY Hidden Valley which is odd for a high-end steakhouse. The service was slow as well. At this price point, I expect both quality and timely service. For four people, the total came to $407. At $407, the food should be exceptional, and I shouldn't have to wait 15 minutes to receive it after the rest of my table has already been served Pros: The lasagna was delicious. I was surprised to have an added $12charge for to go service. Had I not been able to finish dessert, would they have charged me to take it home? As far as resturants go this one is by far one of the better ones in Visalia. I dont see why they had so many bad reviews. The service although not top notch was decent. Our waitress checked in on us multiple times. We could see her going back into the kitchen to see if our food was ready yet and the food itself was very good. The ambiance was nice, very private and easy to hear when speaking to each other, we actually had to hush ourselves down so that other tables couldn't hear our conversations. read more

I travel alone for work and today I was told this place has good food so I wanted to try it out as I was craving steak. One of the servers came up to me and asked what I ordered because she never had seen anyone eat here alone. My actual server overheard this and offered (jokingly) to sit with me. I wanted to die. That triggered my anxiety to say the least, especially when she came back around and asked me if I ordered my food to go. I should have just said yes. As a Visalia native, I eagerly watched the transformation of Glick's into The Ranch. The exterior, with the twinkle lights adorning olive trees and a vintage truck, feels like you are heading into an elegant farm space on the outskirts of town. Inside the upscale rustic decor felt warm and comfortable - very different from the deli that was there in my childhood. The service was excellent - friendly, professional staff that answered questions and offered selections. I was looking forward to ordering a steak - and there were several options, however, the daily special menu almost deterred me from my original plan, as they offered a great variety guaranteed to satisfy. The tapas menu offered wonderful pairings for the steaks - we ordered the broccolini which came out with a delicious chili sauce. The drink menu was very create and the wine options were extensive. We have dined at the Ranch on several occasions and it has always been a great experience. The food is simply fabulous. Thus far we have tried and loved the filet, rib eye, sea bass, shrimp and pasta as main dishes, the chili relleno as an appetizer, and the beet salad, broccolini and potatoes as sides. All were superb. The desserts are excellent as well. The owner James always has a smile on his face as he visits customers' tables, and his staff are friendly, cheerful, and accommodating (special shout out to Katie and Dakota!). Cocktails were inconsistent and took an unreasonably long time to arrive, which really disrupted the flow of the evening. For a large party, we had a dedicated server, but "dedicated" is a stretch--the server frequently disappeared and seemed disengaged. At this price point and with the ambiance they advertise, we expected attentive service and exceptional food. Instead, we left feeling disappointed and questioning the value. The lighting was so dim we had to use our phones to read the menu, and the service was very slow. One person in our group actually received her steak over an hour after the rest of us finished, though our server was kind and kept apologizing. The food was mixed. The pork belly portion was surprisingly small for the price, the sirloin came out tough and lacking seasoning, and the asparagus side was just a few pieces. Cocktails were okay but nothing memorable. The seafood special I had was the standout delicious, but a small portion and no sides for around $65. One thing to keep in mind: there's only one single-stall restroom, so expect a wait during busy hours. I was very disappointed in my menu, we where a group of 10 ppl so yes I knew gratuity would automatically be added. I had ordered the waygu top sirloin no mix drinks only water. My steak wasn't that great, and only served a little pieces of steak 4 slices. Pretty much the menu is a la cart so everything is separately. I paid $90 just for me. Not worth it at all. I could have gone to a better steak house and spent less for quality meat and better food. Our server wasn't great too but they know with a large party they getting their tip regardless. We should have just gone to Texas Roadhouse instead. I rather had went to Cheyennes in kingsburg way well worth it best steaks close by if you haven't gone you definitely need to try you will not be disappointed. read more

We went to an early dinner here and had a great time! We started with the sourdough bread, calamari, and burrata appetizer, which were all delicious. Most of us ordered cocktails which were good, I was sad that a cocktail I'd been exited to try wasn't on the menu anymore. For dinner, I ordered the tartare and a grilled Caesar salad which were both phenomenal. Our server, Dakota, was attentive and kind. We loved her! The ambiance was well decorated and cozy. The only part of the night that was a bummer was that we brought in an outside dessert (birthday cake) and we knew there was a $5 outside dessert fee, which we were fine with since we'd be using their dishes. It turned out to be $5 each (so $30) just for them store it and bring it out with our candles in it, they offered to slice it but we said we'd do that. Had we known it would've been $30 we probably would've let them slice it and used their candles. Not a deal breaker but definitely something to keep in mind if you plan on bringing a birthday cake! The food was overall good. The service on the other hand wasn't the greatest. It took our server 5-10 minutes to come to our table when we were first seated. We ordered bread and thought it was just taking a while which was fine but once we saw the table next to us get their bread we knew it wasn't coming. Our plates came out first and we had to wait for our sides. After we finished eating it took our waitress 10-15 minutes to come to our table. We had asked for a box and the check she was quick to bring the check to the table but we never got our box. The table next to us asked their waitress and she instantly got it for them. We had to get up and go ask someone for a box because we sat waiting for 15 minutes. We watched our waitress serve a table that was sat instantly and provided their drinks, bread, and an appetizer within the first 10 minutes of being seated. read more

My husband and I had the best tomahawk pork dinner last night. The seasoning was spot on and cooked to perfection.. Sat out in the patio with the beautiful sunset and lighting on the trees. We had a reservation at 7:30 PM. We did not get our food until 9:45 PM.!! We ordered a couple of drinks asked for beers and all beer taps (CO2) were out!! Place just opened and they were out of Just about everything we ordered!! Ordered salads and they were out of dressing!! Asked for steak sauce they were out!! We finally got our food after 2hours and it was luke warm!! We will NOT be going back! Totally disappointing in food and service!!!!! read more
