Vaquero verde Saddle bags, potatoes, strawberry mocktail.
    Kim R.

I had been here for dinner before and had a good experience. So, I came back and attended their brunch service with a group of 12. The waitress Katie was very attentive and provided a great suggestion when I was stuck between two options. A few of the girls ordered their mimosas, steak, and some ordered the brûléed french toast. I ordered the vaquero saddle bags, potatoes and got a strawberry mix mocktail. Both were great. Definitely check them out for yourselves and enjoy.

We recently dined at The Ranch in Visalia and had a mixed experience. We made a reservation and the restaurant itself is beautiful. However, when we walked in, no one acknowledged us for a while, and it wasn't clear where we were supposed to go to be seated. If you're making a reservation, I recommend specifying your seating preference ahead of time, as they have very low tables and high tops that may not be ideal for everyone. We started with the bread appetizer ($8), which was supposed to include sourdough, focaccia, and baguette. Unfortunately, we only received sourdough. It had grill marks but was cold, like it had been sitting out. It also came with what was described as whipped butter, but it was actually cold and solid. The flavor was good, but the execution missed the mark, especially since bread isn't complimentary here. We also ordered the pork belly appetizer, but it never arrived. Our server was friendly at first, but once the restaurant got busier (and what seemed like regulars came in), service became very limited and we felt a bit overlooked. For our main course, we both ordered the filet mignon, and this was definitely a highlight. The steaks were cooked perfectly to medium and seasoned well. The asparagus was also good. However, the timing of the food was off. Our steaks were brought out well before our sides, so by the time the sides arrived, the steaks had cooled down. We ordered the baked potato (served tableside), and honestly, it was one of the most disappointing items of the night. The skin was extremely dry, the potato itself was small for $18, and the toppings were very minimal. I would definitely skip this. To their credit, they did bring out a complimentary pistachio cake as an apology for the missing pork belly, and it ended up being one of the best things we had. We also ordered the bread pudding, which was dense and good, with cranberries and nuts for a slightly different twist. Overall, the experience was inconsistent. The steak and pistachio cake were excellent, but the service, timing, and several menu items did not meet expectations. Based on other Yelp reviews, it seems like some of these issues are recurring. I'd consider giving it another try because of the steak, but I'd hope to see improvements next time.

The Ranch! Although the food is delicious their Pistachio cake is a must have! The cream combined with the cake and pistachio is definitely heaven

Best steak I've had in Central Valley! So fresh and delicious. The mashed potatoes are amazing, the ambiance is beautiful, and you can even watch them prepare your food if you're lucky. Drinks were great too. Definitely coming back! People were very nice too!

came here with a group on sunday evening for a birthday celebration. everything was wonderful - the food, service and rustic wooden ambiance. for food, we shared the bread and octopus appetizers and i had the chimichurri risotto. chimichurri risotto was so good, very flavorful, especially when compared to the chicken risotto. the food took a while to get to us so we were offered complimentary bread. before bringing the cake out, the waiter did ask if we needed candles.

Dry baked potato-don't recommend(they should just leave all the toppings and not be skimpy w portions)

I'd give this place 5 stars if it wasn't for the slow service & receptionist placing us outside when there were empty tables inside. Due to having a child she even said on the phone making reservations "I'll put you out of the way." We were the only ones that were sat outside 8pm this last Saturday not very happy & thought it was rude. When we walked in the receptionist asked where'd we prefer to be seated inside or out and we said inside & then proceeded to tell us there's no tables available when they're we're 3 empty ones the entire time we were there since walking in & leaving around 9:15. Very disappointing w paying $300 tip included to be treated this way is unacceptable and will ask for a manager or the owner Michelle if we decide to come back..bring a cushion if seated on cement picnic style tables not comfortable being 5months pregnant with no bottom or back support. The other tables were too high for my child to be seated next to us in a high chair. Food: Appetizer toasted sough-dough bread w butter took 25mins to arrive & goat cheese shrimp jalapeño poppers were great! Food around 45mins. Don't recommend smash potato skimpy w toppings. Everything else was tasty & cooked well.

Salmon. Don't order this either. This dish should be reimagined because it was not good at all! So so so salty!

We made reservations for our 19th wedding anniversary. And to say I was excited to try The Ranch was an understatement. The hostess was not very inviting which was a shame. We were seated at a little round pub table and it felt like a section for cocktail sipping before getting seated. But nope it was our table. We asked to be moved and were denied yet we weren't going to let it bother us. The couple that got seated behind us asked to be moved too and they were denied as well. They were so upset that they got up and left. Dakota was our server and she was WONDERFUL! She made great drink recommendations and very helpful and thoughtful to our dietary needs. The grilled octopus was the chef's ! We would definitely come back for that dish. The sourdough with whipped butter was nice. The butter had a subtle sweetness that surprised my palate. Entrees were expensive and highly disappointing. My husband ordered the Ahi and for $65 it was nothing more than a $18 appetizer! The drizzle of chili oil was executed with a heavy hand. It was overwhelming and not balanced at all. I ordered the salmon. It came on a bed of green beans and kale and a side piece of orange squash. The squash was inedible. It wasn't fully cooked. It was very hard and could barely cut it with a knife. The green beans and kale were nicely cooked and seasoned, but the salmon was a huge disaster. The under belly was gooey almost like a coagulated egg white and was outrageously over seasoned. I only ate half of it. It was unpalatable. My husband tried to finish the rest. We would've sent it back, but we were halfway through and felt foolish that we had already forced down the majority of the plate. For dessert, we had the pistachio cake that was nice and light and airy . Was it perfect end to the meal. It wasn't overly sweet or heavy. The cake itself was incredibly moist. The layers of cream were perfectly delicate. All in all, I had wished to give it five stars, and if my experience was solely based on our server, then we would have gladly given the coveted five stars, but unfortunately, there were many components to our experience that fell flat. I will say after we were finished with the appetizer one of the head servers moved us to a better seat! What a game changer. A suggestion for a future tasting menu is to invite those guests who've given you poor scores. Have them rate your menu. Have them provide their feedback. These guest would give you their honest opinion and not just lip service.

First, I'll start off by saying today is Ash Wednesday, so I picked the wrong day to try The Ranch; however, I ordered the cheese-filled gnocchi and it did not disappoint. Started off with pesto bread and that was amazing! My friends ordered the poppers appetizer and meat dishes which looked and smelled amazing as well. I read on different reviews that service was kind of slow and it seemed like it at times; however, food came out perfect temperature. Food portions were excellent. The decor and lighting inside was welcoming. Servers were all friendly. I will definitely return when I can eat meat again.

Made reservations for a date night at the Ranch. Loved that you can request which room to be seated in . We picked the bar area, and loved that we could watch the kitchen prepare food. As soon as we stepped foot onto the property we were transported of being on a country ranch. The decor really matched the setting. This was an upscale elite ranch. Our bartender/ server was quit knowledgeable and attentive. Started off with a delicious cocktail , that was so good could have knocked my shoes off. Not sure what it was, but it was sweet, and enjoyable. I ordered the filet tip pasta, omg omg it was delicious. Homemade pasta, steak, delicious sauce, kudos to the chef on this. My husband ordered a steak that was both tender and juicy. He ordered a side of potatoes , that were delicious as well. All the meats and sides are a la carte. We ended our dinner with a slice of pistachio cake; it was so light and airy. Tasted like a dessert from heaven! Excellent service - yes Good food - yes Good drinks- yes Pricey- haha yes Wish the bread would be complimentary; it is not and costs $7. Love that Visalia has a restaurant like this!

Food and service was good. Really pretty seating in the fire room. You can see the your food being cooked over the fire. Definitely worth a try.

The Ranch drink, Hearth Bread, strawberry basil refresher

My daughter and I came here after a long day of hiking and really appreciated the customer service by multiple staff members coming by to check on us and make our dining experience fabulous. The Hearth Bread appetizer with the burrata and pesto was an amazing start to the rest of the delicious meal. Our server, Cameron, gave excellent descriptions of the menu and everything that arrived was wonderful. We were able to sit outside at the patio, in the shade, with our boxer dog at our side. Another server was very accommodating with placing a bug deterrent device tableside so that no pests would disrupt the outdoor ambiance. Food was amazing. Cameron had a great sense of humor.

The staff and service are amazing friendly, & attentive. They don't serve food directly, but they always have food trucks, which honestly makes it even better. They're super active on Instagram and regularly post their food truck calendar, so you always know who's serving what and when. My absolute favorite food truck that comes through is Brahma never disappoints. The drink selection is top tier with a wide variety of beers from different distilleries, so there's something for everyone. My go-to drinks are the Michelada with the spicy cucumber mix (so good), The Lady Marmalade, and Dark Horse is also a solid choice. Tap Yard also has an outdoor patio, karaoke nights, and live bands, which makes it such a fun place whether you're going out with friends or just trying to unwind. The only downside for me is that it isn't strictly 21+. Since there's a playground in the back patio, some adults bring their kids, and personally, I'm there to relax and have fun--not listen to screaming children. If you're looking for great drinks, a fun crowd, awesome music, and consistently good vibes, Tap Yard is definitely worth checking out.

The rooms are always clean, the Elderwood is an ice touch, and the vibe is always fun. During this trip, all was fine when what sounded like the HVAC system above our room started to knock. It's an old historic building so, things happen. The knocking though quickly turned into a roar. We contacted the front desk and this is where the true professionalism of the hotel crew, and particularly Maria, shined through. Maria quickly came upstairs, assessed the situation, triaged with other teams inside the hotel, and identified a solution within 20 minutes. Given the scope of the repair was unclear at the time, she moved us to another room and even upgraded us (even though she didn't have to!) for the inconvenience. Things happen, that's not an issue for us, it's how the team addresses them when they come up. The Darling team rose to the occasion with flying colors so seamlessly in this situation, especially Maria. So for us, just underscores a series of positive experiences at the hotel.
