That's don't impress me much! That's the feeling I have. Queens Cup has been on my list for about 3 years. I admit, I am weak for frosting so I figured this had to be a win for me. Good location, tough parking if you can't get in their small lot and good luck scoring a table (i think there were only 2!) But that's not the reason for disappointment. It's the product. Magic cookie bars are one of my favorite sweet treats so I had to buy one (at a high cost of $7!) It's heavy and dense but the flavor... the crust was inconsistent. Too thick and too think at points. The taste... it tastes like an M&M (with a slight hint of coconut.) I could have saved myself a lot of money just buying a bag of M&M's. But I don't like M&M's! See the problem? (And there were small M&M's on the top which is ok but it was overpowering.) I also had to try something cupcake related right? My daughter got a huge slice of funfetti cake. I had one layer of the cake. I can share the frosting was thick and dense. I like it sweet and melts in my mouth. Thus was not that. The cake itself was dense too. I was my cake fluffy. I have a Facebook group called "Hole In The Wall: New England" where I write about all kinds of places that are 1. A little hidden away or off the beaten track, and 2. Amazing discoveries. This place fits the bill under both categories! Many years ago, before I moved to Worcester, my friend made me follow an Instagram account that was basically carb porn. Day after day, I'd check out their bizarre and scrumptious cupcake flavors, fantasizing about the day that I'd make it there. Back then, Worcester felt like a such a pain to get to that it took me a while to get there. But when I finally found this tiny little place tucked away on Water St, it was like that moment in Willy Wonka where Charlie is aghast at all the sugary delights around him. It was every frosted fantasy come to life. I try not to go TOO often, because I don't want to be condemned to a life of stretchy pants. But when I do go, it's a serious struggle not to try every creative confection in their case. Their treats are INCREDIBLE. read more

Got cupcakes and a custom heart shaped cake made for a party recently from The Queen's Cups! The cupcakes were huge and were got an assorted flavor combo and some flavors included apple cider, dunkaroo, oreo, raspberry chocolate - all delicious! imo the cupcakes were definitely the highlight. Snowy day in Worcester, stumbled into this cute cupcake/pastry place. Was closing early due to the snow. so got a deal everything half price. I got a dozen cupcakes and a cherri cheesecake. Loooveee this bakery! Their cupcakes are yummy but sometimes I like their other items more. One of my favorite items is always either sold out or wasn't made that day when I go- lil' Krissy's. They're delicious swiss rolls. I love their Nutella stuffed cookies, too. For Father's Day, we picked up a 4 pack of cupcakes & a cannoli brownie. Our favorite (surprisingly) was the cotton candy milkshake. I would have never expected it but the frosting wasn't too sweet & the inside had marshmallow. It was so good! The PB Stout brownie was good, too. But hands down the best thing was the cannoli brownie. The cannoli filling is perfect and their brownies are amazing. I'm usually not a huge fan of bakery brownies but these are near perfect. It was very rich though so I'd recommend splitting it or saving half for later. They post their daily menu on Instagram which I find super helpful. The store itself is super cute but the parking can be tricky sometimes since it's in a busy area. There's a small lot for the bakery itself but it fills up quickly. Otherwise there's street parking but that can be tough to find on weekends. I love bringing my out of state friends here, too. This was such a cute little bakery. I'm a sucker for cupcakes and had to try it! I enjoyed the cotton candy milkshake one the most. It was beautifully decorated with pastel colors and a cute little straw to resemble a milkshake. Personally, the funfetti sugar cookie cupcake wasn't my favorite, the cookie dough ball inside the cupcake made it a bit hard to eat. I had to make room for the strawberry shortcake macaron--very delicious! I also loved how they had pupcakes to purchase for your dogs, such a cute idea! The parking lot is very small here. If you try anything here, let it be the gluten free cupcakes! As you walk into the store, the sweet, warm aroma of freshly baked pastries welcomes you with the kitchen door always open and perfectly positioned beside the entrance. The glass case is a cake lover's delight with a lot of options. I found the normal cupcakes to be slightly dry but the gluten free options are always dense with the chocolate flavored ones having the most distinct flavor! I came to TQCs for a little snackie after brunch in the area. It's small with a comparatively larger parking lot. As soon as you open the door, you'll probably bump into some of the people standing in front of the counter trying to figure out what of the 500 different, intricately topped cupcakes, speaks to them. On top of the cupcake case are their cookies, bars, muffins, whatever else. I saw magic bar and immediately that was my pick. I delegated the cupcake selection to my little cupcake because it was way too overwhelming for my indecisiveness. Their cupcake repertoire includes a raspberry oreo flavor, kit kat, a coffee chocolate flavor, snickerdoodle, cake batter, and many others. Tina settled on the snickers. I actually had a plastic container of two bacon donuts, ordered to go from our preceding brunch at the hangover pub, in my hand. You could cut my shame with a knife as I stood there, avoiding eye contact with the cashier, declining a receipt and requesting a bag for my purchase of more desserts. I'm not saying it wasn't worth it. We got home and pulled the containers from the bag. We started with the magic bar. It was literally exclusively CANDY like white chocolate chips, regular chocolate chips, m&ms, and coconut, held together with corn starch. It was sugar cube. Our a1c has gone up by at least a full point after eating it. The amount of insulin released by my pancreas could give a horse hypoglycemia. I would not order this again. The cupcake was good. Nice combo of flavors. It was still probably a touch too sweet. Are bakeries this sweet these days? Is it normal? I'd rather a dessert stand on it's own rather than relying on an insane amount of sugar. Having said that, I'd like to try some of their other stuff and give them another chance. read more

Always excellent. Every time I visit this place, every flavor I try, I am surprised every time at how good these cupcakes are. They never fail to absolutely satisfy. I am usually disappointed by cupcakes everywhere else. This place is always good. The S'mores cupcakes was my daughter's favorite. My wife loved her PB Cap cupcake. I looked at their Facebook page and everything sounded good. They have so many unique flavors to choose from such as banana walnut pancake, cookie dough crunch, Jameson & ginger, and lookin' like a snack. I decided on the pineapple coconut, summer berry lemonade, and chocolate because I mean, why not. What struck me initially were the decorations on top, which were rather elaborate. When I bit in to them, I was hoping for soft cake and for the most part, that's what I got, well at least for the chocolate cupcake. The chocolate was excellent - chocolate frosting, chocolate candy, and wonderfully moist chocolate cake. I thought that the pineapple coconut was just ok and the summer berry lemonade was quite dry, which made it difficult to eat. My primary issue with this place is that it seems that all of the cupcakes are filled. As one who doesn't like oozing icing or creams in the middle of my desserts, this was disappointing. I was hoping that at least one cupcake wouldn't be filled but nope, all of them were. Perhaps they use the filling for moistness of the cake and if so, it doesn't work. For this reason, I likely wouldn't seek this place out for cupcakes when I'm back in the city despite the fact that my husband has ordered dozens and dozens from them for events. TQC really shines in the decorations. -Live music on Thursday nights Cons: -Flavors advertised on Instagram are sometimes not in the case and you need to ask for them from the back -Seems like day-old cupcakes are sold at the same price based on the fact that flavors listed on Instagram the day before are sometimes still in the case the next day--it would be nice if they were half off -Some desserts/frostings just taste like sugar (get the cannoli or ganache frosting instead of buttercream or cheesecake) -Cupcake cake is not very strong (with exception of Pumpkin--highly recommend! Avoid chocolate) --toppings/fillings carry them -- Blackberry Lemonade Cupcake Vanilla cupcake filled with lemon AND blackberry curd/jam, topped with blackberry(?) buttercream. By far my favorite cupcake from TQC because the tartness of the fruit balanced the sweetness in the icing. Highly recommend! This was easily our favorite of the bunch and we'd definitely get it again! Cookie Dough Crumb Cake Cupcake Funfetti cake filled with a cookie dough ball, topped with chocolate buttercream and another cookie dough ball. The funfetti cake tasted similar to a boxed mix but a bit more buttery. The frosting was too cold to cut into easily, as were the cookie dough filling and topping. The cookie dough texture was decent but it just tasted like sugar and there were a few m&ms inexplicably mixed in with the chocolate chips. The chocolate buttercream frosting was typical buttercreamy sugar overload. Strawberry Dippin Dots Vanilla cupcake with absurdly sweet buttercream icing, topped and filled with strawberry Dippin Dots. The icing on this cupcake was the sweetest I've had from TQC--definitely overkill. Though the texture of the dots was nice, since there was no cream inside (just dots), the cupcake was even more dry than usual. I wouldn't recommend this, though my family enjoyed it. Matilda Cake Two layer chocolate cake filled and topped with chocolate ganache. Easily feeds 2-3 people. This cake was richer than the chocolate cupcakes, but not as fudgy as we were expecting based on the description. Probably a good thing because it wasn't sickeningly sweet. Our second favorite item. I wish they made these in cupcake sized portions because I'd order again if so! Pumpkin Whoopie Pie Ginger/cinnamon whipped cream frosting in between two fluffy pumpkin cakes. The cake was more moist than the cupcakes and tasted more like pumpkin gingerbread. I'm not a fan of whipped cream frosting, but the cake portion of these was pretty good. Brownie ($3.45) Super thick and fudgy brownie topped with chocolate icing. Loved the fudgy texture, but it just tasted buttery/sugary. A bit oily as well--the frosting kept separating from the brownie. -- Would go back for cupcakes with cannoli or ganache toppings, but skip anything with buttercream, whipped cream, cheesecake, or cookie dough. $20 for 3 cupcakes, 1 cookie, and a bar? Not bad pricing at all.. They have parking in front and behind the shop which is a huge plus considering this is on a busy street with limited street parking. Although this is super small, they have a 2 doors so people can enter and exit. (I wish this was clear) This place is actually pretty small. I wish there was a clear line. Maybe get ropes or something to make the line flow better? Everyone was confused where the line started. The display is really small. I feel like it's really overwhelming considering everything looks cluttered into one small display. Also I think it's really unhygienic that they lay some goodies on top of the display as it's so easy for customers to reach and touch it without paying first. Also anyone can sneeze or cough right onto them... actually never mind sneezing, so many people breath on it!!!! The magic bar is awfully sweet and tastes like straight up sugar. The snickers cupcake was eh. The only thing that has favor was the frosting. The frosting looked like a glop, see attached picture. The frosting and the cupcake didn't stick to each other. I've been meaning to get to The Queen's Cups for a while now, and finally made it today. Such a cute little local gem! It's hard to believe the building used to be a service station... they did a great job with the remodel! The atmosphere has a rustic hipster vibe (think Fixer Upper), and it was warm inside despite the cold day. We chose 6 cupcakes to go for approx $20. There were many flavors still to choose from, even with the shop closing within the hour. They had traditional flavors (red velvet, vanilla bean, peanut butter cup) and more unique flavors (hot cocoa, orange creamsicle, Boston cream). The cupcakes were good, but mildly dry which is why I didn't give 5 stars. Regardless, I believe this just became my favorite cupcake joint in Worcester, and I've hit them all! read more

I've purchased many cupcakes from them since they were over in Millbury and it was a great experience then and has only improved (not that it needed to) since that time. Recently, I placed my first custom order and I was extremely helpful pleased with the ease of the process, the friendliness of the staff, and the helpfulness of the creative process. We were so happy with our Virginia Tech tailgate birthday party themed order! Best part of this 5 star review? I literally don't even like cake, but I would go back over and over again.
