Nice pub style bar. Good beer and food. Small town gem filled with locals. Stopped in on a road trip - great find.

She was incredibly sweet and attentive. She seemed a little nervous at first, but she did a great job and made us feel very welcome throughout our meal. I ordered the Crispy Rice Tuna Salad, and it was excellent. The tuna was fresh, the combination of textures was fantastic, and the portion was much larger than I expected--I couldn't finish it. I also appreciated that the menu offered a good variety of choices, from lighter dishes to more indulgent options. The restaurant itself has a cozy, eclectic atmosphere with interesting décor that makes it feel like a hidden gem tucked away in downtown Washington. Add in the fact that they're open on Mondays when many nearby restaurants are closed, and Blu becomes an easy recommendation. I'll definitely return the next time I'm in town.

After numerous trips I still can't put my finger on what exactly is done differently at Blu to outperform so many fantastic restaurants. It's as if they have somehow managed the flavors of a Michelin restaurant with plating that isn't so... boring and sterile. Portion sizes are more than adequate, none of that one taste nonsense here. The service is always fantastic, professional and friendly. The owner is occasionally willing to share recipes with you and has never disappointed me with a recommendation. The cocktails? Just "wow". Perhaps what makes this place so fabulous is that they manage to do so well in so many categories. I'll consider that more in depth next time I make a reservation which may just have to be today. Speaking of, if you don't make a reservation, don't be disappointed when you don't have a seat. This isn't a place you can always walk in and sit down. They don't have many tables and it's obvious that they aren't the type of place to sit more people than they can take care of. Take some time, enjoy a drink and one of the best meals you'll have in the area. You won't regret it!

Which may not be a word, but in this case apt. Also you cannot taste the coffee in their espresso-based drinks. It's all too overpowered by the goo and fluff. To be fair, i order my coffee like i belong at Weenie Hut Jr. -but i would like to at least pretend im drinking coffee. I order two extra shots on top of whatever they already put in the drink as a base, and i still get nothing. Also the place feels..off. Like if someone told you what a coffee shop was supposed to be and you tried to emulate that after a speed run at Home Goods. It feels slapped together. The vibe is like..someone tried to make a hospital room cozy. But they are open on Sunday, and later than any of the other town spots. So it does serve in a pinch.

They had a wide variety of bagel flavors to choose from, and he chose everything. It was very good with generous fillings. He had an iced cold brew and I had an iced chai latte - delicious. Prices are very reasonable. Will definitely return and try some of their pastries - they had tons to choose from! The shop is very cute with seating both inside and out, plus a room in the back where you could have a little get together.

Even so, I enjoyed a tasty plate of collards right here at the beginning of July on Friday. I did doctor them up with a generous application of Texas Pete...vinegar + heat. Makes perfect sense if you like it spicy! The plate also had potato salad and ham, with 2 expertly made 1/2 & 1/2 iced teas. If you like collards and you like potato salad and you like ham...then get your rear in gear on some Friday and order up a plate of southern soul food at its best! Did I mention the hush puppies? No? It's cause I ate them all! Don't even need butter! I'm no fan of the corn sticks tho, but I don't like those from anywhere. Can't wait for the first frost later this year! King Chicken offers down home old school friendly no frills service, and while it's not an eat-in restaurant, I don't mind snagging a plate and heading back to the house to give thanks and partake.

You order at the window and wait to hear your name hollered. The young lady that placed our order was not friendly. Period. Borderline rude and made it pretty clear she didn't want to be at work. Onto the food - the fried chicken was good, the corn nuggets very yummy. Didn't care for the potato salad. The yellow cake with chocolate frosting was average, didn't finish it. Not sure we'd eat here again.
