An outstanding evening at The Mulberry House! From start to finish, this was one of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time, and a huge part of that was my server, Kylie. She was warm, attentive, and genuinely made the night feel special. She was happy to accommodate modifications to my order without missing a beat, checked in at exactly the right moments, and brought such a positive energy to the table. Service like hers is rare, and it truly elevated the whole experience. The food was fantastic. The Torched Tuna Crudo was fresh and beautifully balanced, the Spicy Honey-Garlic Shrimp was packed with flavor, and the Seared Salmon was cooked perfectly. And the view! This is a large space on a corner with inside seating and large bar, back porch sitting, and upstairs patio where they serve sushi. We set outside about 6 and it was so hot! The sun hits just right in that little space. My point being, if you're coming at that time, opt for indoor seating. We were told that new owners recently took over and that the food was better. I can't speak to how it was, but it wasn't great this night. We ordered the whipped burrata cheese dip and it was tasteless. The bread was cold and hard and also tasteless. We then ordered the Caesar salad and they do offer anchovies, which is rare. But, it was also not good. At all. It literally had one crouton. One. We decided to call it and head out. What a delightful space on Main Street in historic Washington for brunch on a Saturday! We sat in the tap room with the view of the water. It was quiet and peaceful. LaTonia was our server and she did an amazing job taking care of us. The food was spot on. I recommend the avocado toast or the breakfast sandwich. Desserts look pretty tempting too. We came here for a date night on a Saturday and ate on the patio with a pretty view of the water and boats. Our waitress was very kind and attentive. The food came at good timings. Highly recommend the brussels they come with parmesan and molasses honey and were a great starter. Their hugo didn't have a strong st germain taste but I appreciated the amount of mint. We both loved the pasta dishes, my favorite was the short rib ragut it tasted like a warm stew over homemade rigatoni. The chicken parm had a vodka sauce that was slightly spicy but paired well with everything. Will be back and there is a sushi restaurant on top of the building we want to try. read more

Ugh, I wanted to like this place so badly :( It seemed super cute and the brunch menu looked great! I do want to say- our server was solid. Our bad experience here did not have to do with her, rather the other components of the restaurant. We came for sunday brunch and ordered an iced coffee and mimosa. The iced coffee was supposed to be cream on the side- but it came out with a ton of cream added it. Not the end of the world, but it also came out very warm and watery. I think someone just threw drip coffee over ice. All the ice melted on the way to the table. Our server did bring me a glass of fresh ice. The mimosa honestly got a laugh out of us. For $8, we got about an inch of champagne in an oversized wine glass with no garnish. Which isn't a huge deal, but every other tables were filled much higher and looked much nicer. I hypothesize that the bartender just split the rest of a bottle of champagne between the 2 glasses and couldn't be bothered to open a new bottle to properly top off the drinks. At this point, we were a little disappointed because we came in with high expectations and all the drinks were pretty mid. I ordered the chicken sandwich and my husband ordered the chicken and french toast. The chicken sandwich is supposed to come topped with lettuce, ranch, pickles, provolone, ect.... It came out with nothing Just a dry chicken breast on bread. My husbands dish was underwhelming and missing the honey butter the menu stated it came with. Additionally, the menu stated the dish was vegetarian. Pretty sure a whole chicken breast is not vegetarian, lol. That caused some confusion. Our waitress was nice and brought out the proper toppings, but I had the assembly the whole thing myself. Kinda a bummer to watch all the other sandwhiches come out correctly. Overall....it was not a good experience. I rarely leave bad reviews, but this was pretty rough. I think there is just a lack of proper management supervising the bar/coffee bar/kitchen. My first vist to The Mulberry House was this summer and although the service was great, the food was slightly above average. The collars in the collard dip were too large in my opinion and I shared this observation with the waitress. My wife and I visited this weekend for dinner with our daughter and got the collard dip again and it was perfect this time. Also, I got the Washington Wedge salad and added well cook salmon as my protein and I swear that was the best salmon I've ever eaten. It was perfect! The Basque Cheese cake was Excellent well. Haven't been here since the new owners so we decided to give it another shot. It was a disappointment, but not all bad. The gumbo and grits was very good, once we set it back ro the kitchen to be heated,with a slightly spicy, but well balanced flavor. Can't say that for the spicy, honey garlic shrimp. First, I suspect they were frozen shrimp because the texture was "off". There was no flavor except heat with a slightly sweetness. The sauce tasted like a bottle of Thai chili sauce mixed with a bottle of Texas Pete. No hint of honey or garlic and the breading was tasteless. The waitress, when she finally reappeared, cleared the barely touched plates with little concern. It's a shame the food isn't better because this is a beautiful space. My opinion is that the kitchen is taking too many shortcuts for this price point. Don't think we will be back. read more

My son and I ate here yesterday afternoon for lunch. Jason was our server and we sat out on the deck looking onto the waterfront. Lunch menu was AWESOME! My son and I each got a combo which was half a sandwich, a cup of soup and a salad for $14!!! Food and service were both good but Jason was very friendly always checking back and even when our food was taking a little longer because of larger groups was always keeping us posted and checking on us. Amazing food! It was a beautiful day so we sat out on the porch which is a great choice to bird watch with kids. The inside was so nice too and had a great bathroom. I was visiting a friend who lives in Washington, and she insisted we have dinner here. The interior is stunning, service impeccable, and the view of the river from our patio table was so relaxing. We were here on a weeknight, so it wasn't busy and we were able to have a slow dinner and enjoy the water view. The Brussels sprouts were fantastic! The burger was really good, but the potatoes that were served with the burger were outstanding! I think the smashed potatoes side item actually upstaged the burger. We enjoyed a Saturday brunch of shrimp and grits. The service was quick and the flavors were wonderful. Then we returned Sunday for dinner.
