Our server Jordan was attentive and flexible as well as friendly, but not overbearing. Our entrées were all absolutely spectacular, particularly the mushroom risotto with the grilled mahi, the peel and eat shrimp, and the crabcakes. We all noted and commented on how perfectly cooked every item was. One teeny concern was the long wait to pay our checks. My party was quite ready to go after a long day at graduation but waited quite a while, even though the restaurant was mostly empty at that point. Overall, a very small matter that did not dampen our very enjoyable evening. One extra nice touch was the little table lamp, which cast a perfect bright light over the table surface, but a very pleasant indirect light everywhere else.

The ravioli is $40 and you get a kids meal amount, and the lobster inside gives cat food. My partner couldn't even enjoy their dish because it was charred, overcooked and dry after we waited almost half an hour. The crab dip is just cream cheese poorly seasoned, like a stomachache waiting to happen, and the oysters are drowning in their garnish. If you have small oysters, than shrink the garnish and let the sea creature do the work. if I wanted bacon, eggs and spinach in a shell, it should be $5! The oyster becomes a mushroom on the tongue since it's buried so deep. With more love and patience in preparation, this place could be a hit but the good reviews are lying. There's no way you can even give this place 2 stars. It's pretty on the inside a little and that's about it unfortunately.

She was incredibly sweet and attentive. She seemed a little nervous at first, but she did a great job and made us feel very welcome throughout our meal. I ordered the Crispy Rice Tuna Salad, and it was excellent. The tuna was fresh, the combination of textures was fantastic, and the portion was much larger than I expected--I couldn't finish it. I also appreciated that the menu offered a good variety of choices, from lighter dishes to more indulgent options. The restaurant itself has a cozy, eclectic atmosphere with interesting décor that makes it feel like a hidden gem tucked away in downtown Washington. Add in the fact that they're open on Mondays when many nearby restaurants are closed, and Blu becomes an easy recommendation. I'll definitely return the next time I'm in town.

After numerous trips I still can't put my finger on what exactly is done differently at Blu to outperform so many fantastic restaurants. It's as if they have somehow managed the flavors of a Michelin restaurant with plating that isn't so... boring and sterile. Portion sizes are more than adequate, none of that one taste nonsense here. The service is always fantastic, professional and friendly. The owner is occasionally willing to share recipes with you and has never disappointed me with a recommendation. The cocktails? Just "wow". Perhaps what makes this place so fabulous is that they manage to do so well in so many categories. I'll consider that more in depth next time I make a reservation which may just have to be today. Speaking of, if you don't make a reservation, don't be disappointed when you don't have a seat. This isn't a place you can always walk in and sit down. They don't have many tables and it's obvious that they aren't the type of place to sit more people than they can take care of. Take some time, enjoy a drink and one of the best meals you'll have in the area. You won't regret it!

Gosh I really wanted to love this place. The standalone building is nice, the location is convenient (albeit hidden), and there's plenty of parking spots. Inside and outside, there's lots of space, including a lovely outdoor deck and large dining area. The atmosphere is beautiful (Instagrammable! ) and spacious, and I could see this being a great spot for an intimate date or a larger group. There's also a great variety of food and drink options. That said, the food was pretty mid for me. The beef empanadas with the three sauces were delicious & definitely something I would order again. Unfortunately, the mofongo with skirt steak was a major disappointment. The mofongo/trifongo itself was good, but the skirt steak was overcooked, extremely rubbery, and lacked any real sauce or marinade. It honestly tasted almost microwaved. I couldn't even bring myself to take the leftovers home for my dog. What made that even more disappointing was the price. Two entrées and one $8 order of beef empanadas came out to almost $90, and we were only drinking water. Our waitress was kind, attentive, and provided good service, so I don't fault her at all. But paying nearly $90 for a meal where I barely ate the vegetables or protein left me feeling like I paid $90 for water and smashed plantains. I don't normally leave a less-than-stellar review after just one visit, especially when I really want to support a local business. However, I've also heard similar experiences from other people I know, where something about their meal was off-putting for one reason or another. I'll definitely come back for drinks, appetizers, the outdoor space, and community events, because I really do want to support what they're building here in Greenville. I just probably won't be ordering an entrée again unless I hear that the food has improved. But There's a lot to like about this place & I hope others give it an honest chance. ! I just wish the food had matched the atmosphere and the vision for me.

The crab cakes were okay, not as flavorful as I had them before, but the fingerlings were tasteful, the shrimp had a good grilled flavor, I ordered an $8 side of shrimp and received six pieces, which I thought was a little odd for a side order, my drink was nice and strong. Unfortunately, my wifes salmon was completely burnt on the bottom which was disappointing. Our food had already taken so long to come out that by that point, we didn't even want to wait around to have the issue addressed or the salmon remade. My wifes drink was also very syrupy and overly sweet, we addressed this with the bartender and she said she could add another shot for $8, we kindly declined and she took it off our bill which was nice. The service from the bartender was good, our food just took way too long and then we spent all that time waiting only for the meal itself to be mediocre. The views and atmosphere are still great, but the food experience this time around definitely fell short.

The scallops were not great and it was so salty. I enjoy salty food but it was a little much. My husband had the duck and really enjoyed it. The sauce had a cinnamon type of flavor that was good. The blue crab hushpuppies were kind of just normal hushpuppies, not a lot of crab. For the price the food was very mid level. We took a step out to the balcony which I thought was kind of lacking as well. You call yourself "the rooftop" but the outdoor area is very small, has one sitting area, and two small, knee level tables that don't have chairs. If you were to sit at the seating area, you couldn't even see over the wall at the view. The restaurant still had the breakfast cereals/bar out from breakfast which was fine but I would've put that away. I don't think we would come back since I don't drink alcohol anymore and the food wasn't worth returning. If you want a nice bar to sit at, then this would be perfect.

It just feels stagnant and uninspired. Nothing new, nothing seasonal, nothing exciting. If you've been once, you've basically seen it all. The food itself was bland and boring. Service was also slow, even though it wasn't especially busy. We waited far too long for basic things, and the staff didn't seem particularly attentive or professional. There was a noticeable lack of urgency and overall polish. Overall, it feels like a place that hasn't evolved in years -- same menu, same energy, same issues.
