I have been here a number of times now. Mostly in the afternoon and they seem to have a good following of regulars. The menu is fairly typical of a sports bar. Nothing has knocked my socks off but the ahi tuna app at 1/2 price from 3 to 6 is a bargain. Beer selection is varied and the service is excellent. read more

Just attempted a casual dinner with two friends. Have been here a few times and never had a bad experience. Its not great, its good. Solid pub grub. Arrived and went to sit on the back patio, a covered area with seating for about 50 persons, and dog friendly. My Labrador retriever was with us. A very well mannered and socialized canine. On a leash as usual. As i opened the door from the parking area to the patio, two UNLEASHED dogs, one wearing a shock collar , attacked my dog. The idiot owners were letting the dogs run free in public! When the dog with the shock collar attacked, my lab responded appropriately, defended himself, and I kicked the attacker in the face. The problem is not just idiot owners. The management , or at least the servers, were present and aware of this completely inappropriate situation. I'm going back to complain in person tomorrow. Beware if you use the patio. read more

This is local bar. Don't go for the food. There is pub grub and there is just bar food. You can get cheap beer, sports on the TVs, bar food and locals enjoying it. Every town needs a place like that. read more

Honestly surprisingly great food for the atmosphere. The last time we ate here it was only like 6 pm and they had live music inside and we were sitting on the opposite end of the restaurant and couldn't even hear eachother speak unfortunately. My husband says this is the best shrimp and grits he's ever had even more surprising for a place like this. read more

Not gonna lie. Greenville is not a large town, so it's been difficult finding a place that serves food and will also accommodate someone with a severe disability along with their emotional support service pet. After living here for years, that place is A. J. McMurphy's. "Is that a leprechaun? I've never seen a leprechaun!", exclaimed our server Ashley when she came to the table. "That's Mr. Fingers", I answered and went onto explain he was not a leprechaun, but a marmoset monkey I had dressed up for Halloween. But assured Ashley that Mr. Fingers was indeed magical as he is a lifesaver for my PTSD. And that it can all be verified in the Americans with Disabilities Act. When I get nervous or anxious, Mr. Fingers licks his finger and sticks it in my ear. Really calms me down. AJ's offers traditional Irish fare including Bangers and Mash, Reubens, Irish Stew and Fish & Chips. I got the Bangers and Mash, which was superb, while Mr. Fingers got a single Pub Slider which was placed on a little side dish with a few fries. The small portion was perfect for a ten ounce monkey. Mr. Fingers licked the salt off his french fries before throwing them at a rebroadcast of last year's Orange Bowl. AJ's is a great spot to see sports with plenty of televisions. I was watching the Keno draw when Mr. Fingers nudged me. He nodded towards the kitchen where our server Ashley was doing her side work- filling ketchup containers. It was then Ashley picked up a squeeze bottle of ketchup, opened her mouth and took a strong blast of the tomato condiment. She then took a satisfied gulp and proceeded to wipe down the counter before returning to our table. "Would Mr. Fingers like another shot glass of grenadine syrup?" Ashley asked. "No thanks, he's driving", I answered. "Say, were you just drinking ketchup back in the kitchen?". I asked. "Not really, I had a french fry stuck in my throat. I just like to put ketchup on them after I chew them", Ashley explained. Like me and Mr. Fingers, we think you'll find superb food, great service and friendly staff at AJ's. There's also outdoor seating and live music. Highly recommend. Ashley was a gem and so sweet. I think Mr. Fingers now has a bit of a crush on her, so we'll be back. You can count on it! read more

Horrible food, watered down drinks & warm beer. The band that was scheduled to play wasn't there & the band that was, wasn't the type of music I enjoy. I would have left after returning the watered down liquor & replacing it with a lukewarm beer but friends had come, to see the same absent band & since we were there we stayed for about an hour. If you like mediocre food, warm beer & watered down alcohol then this is your place. Never again. read more

I've been here a couple of times. Happy hour during the weekday was pretty dead. It's away from the other bars, so there's a bit of traveling involved (meaning you have to get a DD or decide to stay at one place). It was an older crowd during HH. On a Friday night, this place is much more crowded. The rumor of single people hanging out here though seems to be a farce. There were a few cute girls in big groups, but the rest was a wide mix of ages. The live music was good and service wasn't too bad considering how busy it was. Plenty of smoking space on the patio. Prices weren't too bad for drinks. Just make sure you get a pint "glass"- the plastic ones make your beer get warmer faster. I think they were using them because they ran out of glasses, but it seemed a little tacky. read more

Thursday karaoke nights are their big nights. Place will be packed. As other reviewers have mentioned, it is a little bit away from other Greenville bars. They often have local bands playing which is rare for Greenville. Food isn't bad, standard pub fare. Wings are a good appetizer. Avoid the chicken tenders. Good beer and liquor selection. They've got an outside, covered deck. It also doubles as the smoking area so not always fresh air. read more

I really wanted to like this place,but there are some issues that keep me from doing so. The staff is friendly and energetic. They made sure my cousin and I were happy and we never had to wait a long time for anything. The food is decent but needs a little more pizazz. I will say that it is WAY overpriced. The issues that I have a problem with is the owners. I believe that it is very tacky to drink at your own restaurant in excess. It is very apparent that the owners have little respect for the staff by the way they treat them. The few times I ate here I heard at least one conversation belittling a server or bartender. I find that very unprofessional as well as how much the owner gambled. This establishment has massive amount of potential to be great. But I don't see that happening any time soon. read more

Loved the bangers and mash - great comfort food. The dessert was white chocolate cheesecake served with chocolate sauce on the side. Wonderful! Loved the atmosphere - a great pub with TVs everywhere. Took 8 family members on Saturday afternoon during March Madness. Place was dead, which was surprising on a nice afternoon with lots of sports on TV. Beer selection was OK. Food menu looked pretty good, but execution was horrible. French Dip sandwiches tasted like they were made with Steak 'ems (remember the microwave meat?). Chicken salad sandwich was also horrible. My wife and I, along with friends, have been to AJ's several times. Standard pub fare, shepherd's pie is different from what I've had before. Food is good, solid beer selection on tap, and a full bar. Great place to watch a game, several tvs around and the crowd is not too rowdy. They have live entertainment frequently, and the venue is set up well for that. They have some great acts playing there and getting exposure in a pretty lively scene. Outdoor deck for smokers. The lunch specials are a great deal, but watch out, you can only get tea with them and not all the servers make you aware of that when ordering. The service is touch and go. Some days great, other days not so great. Love the chicken wings and chips and my husband loves their fish and chips. It is in an ideal location and away from the chaos of the main college scene. Food is decent and drink prices are typical. Customer service isn't all that great. I have seen the owner float around and observed his interactions with customers and his employees. Seems to be friendly to the patrons he knows, indifferent to others, and rude to his staff. Overall, people seem to like going there but I certainly don't care for it read more

Waiter Kevin was amazing. Was refused by the manager Jake to make "chicken" nachos instead of chili, only to be told they do make them. Definitely good service staff, cook and managers need a lesson in how to make customers happy. Ended up only ordering boneless chicken which was good. Here is the kicker, get home and have chips? Really? I could have bought chips at the store as wanted mac and cheese and not available so said fries. Overall customer service was not great. The most of the food was ok, the wings were wet instead of dry...we ordered a birthday cake shot that came out tasting like water. Asked for it to be remade and the second one was tasted by the bar tender AND the waiter!! when asked the waiter lied and said it wasn't tasted, then said well maybe but just to make sure it tasted right!!! The bartender/owner said they taste drinks to make sure they taste right! Would not even try that drink! WOULD NOT recommend to any one!!! read more
