I'd love to be able to tell you how great the food is, but they were out of the three items we wanted, so we had a drink and went elsewhere. If you want to sit on the rooftop, make a reservation, but the dining room is also nice. We saw only two servers and they were working hard!! They kept a smile on their face the entire time. It's unfortunate that this place is away from the busy part of downtown because I'm sure that affects them.

Had a delightful mother-son lunch at this new restaurant! We sat in the back dining room in a comfortable seat with a view into the kitchen. Numerous wine bottles were on display around the kitchen window. These are exquisite bottles globally sourced. Blu has a "Wine Wednesday" event worth attending where you can sample some of their wines and receive a discount on bottles. The upstairs terrace was full, meaning it's a popular hangout spot. The quieter indoor space was more conducive to conversation. Jenna and her team of servers did a good job. She brought our food as it came out of the kitchen. Blu serves generous portions so we happily took half our meals home. Definitely interested in their wine hour and happy hours at their bar & lounge.

A great rooftop restaurant is more than just a place to eat--it's an experience that blends good views, impeccable flavors, and a wonderful ambiance that comes with some creature comforts. This is Blu Farm To Table. Blu Farm to Table is a wonderland where vegetables have VIP status, and every dish tells the story of its journey from dirt to deliciousness, but here the menu is a mystery and you will only know when you go. Although I only ventured through a few small plates, everything was not only delicious, every bite carries the freshness of ingredients that haven't spent weeks in transit. Get here on the right night for that full-sensory experience, where every element blends seamlessly into a night you won't forget. phenomenal food, dangerously good drinks, and the music? Well, let's just say you won't be leaving until the last song fades into the night. Cheers!

We were heading to Williamsburg Va and stopped in for Brunch. I started with a Bloody Mary, one of us ordered a local red ale and the girls split a bottle of Cabernet. The guys ordered the Blu Crab Bennie (eggs Benedict) one with hollandaise on the side the girls split the smash burger. There was a piano player singing and adding to ambiance. The server was friendly and knowledgeable. The Bloody Mary was awesome with a capital A!!!! The local red ale was excellent. The food was delicious!!!! Absolutely a must hit spot for Sunday Brunch!!!! Christian was our server: just a superb job, great personality.

Came back after some time! Still love this place and their ever changing menu! Service was awesome, the food came out fast and hot, it was perfect for a quick lunch! The place was beautifully decorated and the bathrooms were so unique! Will definitely return in the summer for the rooftop seating!

What a small but beautiful restaurant! Offering inside and outside seating close to water. This restaurant offers farm to table meals so the menu is ever changing, We arrived when they were offering brunch. The menu had something for everyone, just about. I will note there was no kid menu - so that might be a deal breaker for some. We decided on a few dishes, my favorite was the mushroom omelette! It was very flavorful and delicious. The chicken and biscuits were spicy but with good flavor. I look forward to going back and trying different combinations. For now, enjoy the photos!

In a nutshell, underwhelming. You can tell this is a new place, as there seem to be kinks they are working out, but given the reviews written they look to be on a downslope. The seating isn't very comfortable, and I question the ability to put 5 or 6 at the tables that were set that way. Nor could I imagine sitting on that couch between other people. It's a small space so think, intimate atmosphere. The service was fair. While the server was very kind and helpful, he wasn't... attentive. Given the price point, I was surprised how infrequently we saw him. There was live music when we were there, and the musician was super friendly, with the table next to us ending up having a wonderful conversation with him, and he was amazing talking them through The menu was VERY limited. And I was surprised how average the food was given the price point. I know Sunday brunch is bougie, but a watery vegetable frittata was unimpressive. I actually thought, "I could take this home and cook it more so it's not runny." I ask you, should you ever make that statement at a restaurant? Coffee options were limited. French press coffee but no latte or flavor options. Sadness given the upscale billing. You enter through the back of the building, and the parking is odd. It's more than a little off putting to walk by the dumpster before you enter a restaurant. I like what they're aiming for, but I'm leaving disappointed. Maybe on a non rainy day the rooftop is open and you can enjoy the view and relax, but without that this place is better left unvisited.

We stumbled upon this gem by complete happenstance. Location, ambiance, staff, cocktails, and food were all absolutely perfect. We all had an amazing dinner. What I didn't photograph were our delicious appetizers and cocktails as well. Best shrimp and grits I've ever eaten, and I've had them in soooo many places. Will return if back in the area. Highly endorse!!!!

They have a nice selection of cocktails, many of which seem crafted to honor the local vibe. I had a cocktail containing a house distilled gin. Delicious. They also let my husband sample two of the house distilled gins before he ordered a gin and tonic. He was very happy. Kennedy, our friendly, knowledgeable server, brought out complimentary cornbread with brown butter/molasses butter and tomato soup shooters. Yum. They offer two- and three-course price fix menus, and for a few dollars more, you can make it a wine pairing. My husband did that, and I ordered off of the regular menu. His collard green salad was sensational! He couldn't stop raving about it even as he was finishing it up. His second course was filet mignon, and it was the most savory, tasty filet I've ever had! I had lemon risotto with asparagus and tomatoes - it was delicious as well. We were at the Hackney to celebrate closing on our house in Washington, and we made the perfect choice for a celebratory dinner. We will be back!

I do better with a chop from Harris Teeter, some rosemary and a grill. My husband enjoyed the Rockfish although portion was small. Even the house bread pudding was lack luster. This was a birthday celebration. Was hoping the chef would walk the floor. But no. Luckily we stumbled into Blue the next day. Lovely. Hackney needs to taste their menu. We will come back to Washington. Lovely little town. Won't come back to Hackney for a while.

I tried to make reservation but the restaurant would not take a reservation for one so I went early. My options were the bar or in the dark tunnel. I chose the tunnel as I thought I was going to get a table not a high top there. Then where the menu was placed that would have me facing the back wall as the other seat was near the kitchen entrance. So I moved there but I still didn't have a view of the performers. So things didn't start well but I ordered the boba boat mocktail and the mac n cheese with short ribs. My waitress then informed me that they were out of the short rib and would brisket be ok. I hate brisket so I said no and she went and got me the menu to order something else. While I was looking at the menu with my phone flashlight (other tables had actual flashlights, they came prepared) as the tunnel was too dark to see without it, I was given mac n cheese with short rib according to the food runner. I questioned him as I had been told they were out but he went and checked and told me it was the last of the short rib. It was not short rib and someone lied. When the waitress returned, she thought it was burnt ends and checked with the kitchen and they told her brisket. Whatever the mystery meat was, it was not what I ordered. Did they think I wouldn't notice or know the meats are prepared differently. It is dark there so it is hard to know what you are eating. The mystery meat dish was taken back to the kitchen and I asked if they could prepare it with vegetables instead as mac n cheese seemed like the safest option on the menu with the mystery meats. I wish they just had what I originally ordered. The specialty made veggie dish was good but I expected more flavors with the cheese. It was kind of bland. I did try the dessert too. I got the strawberry lemonade cake. The strawberries were the best part as the cake was on the dry side. While eating this, the check was brought to the table. This is my biggest pet peeve to not wait until the guest is finished eating. The most frustrating part was that while they refused to increase the lighting when I arrived and asked as I couldn't read the menu. They immediately turned the lights up when another guest asked as I was finishing my dessert. The chef came to the table from the front dining area. It was my understanding that things were going to be made right. I didn't expect to be charged the full price for the dish without the premium meat. Then there was the service failure of bringing out a dish I hadn't ordered to begin with. The decor here is outstanding, with the copper ceilings and the speakeasy feel. The clock out front caught my attention too. They went all out with the details and elegance. So it is disappointing that the food and service is not up to the same standards.

The seating and lighting were great. Our server, Kayla was very professional and efficient. As one might imagine, a seating of 14 can be difficult. She handled us with aplomb! Many different items were ordered. I started with the wedge salad where the iceberg lettuce, blue cheese crumbles and bacon were the stars of the show. I ordered the duck breast for my entree. The fat was perfectly rendered and the puréed carrots pair extremely well with the richness of the deck. A must have with the duck is their in-house made pear martini which blended perfectly with the fig sauce served over the duck. My husband ordered the Shrimp Cocktail as my appetizer. The shrimp were plump and perfectly steamed! The cocktail sauce was fresh made and delicious! His entree was Pistachio Butter Scallops. They were served on a bed of polenta with a side of haricot verts! The scallops were sautéed to a point where the edges were just ever so crispy while the interior of the scallop was tender and sweet! He said this was one of the best meals he'd have ever had and we've dined at many 4 & 5 star restaurants! I almost forgot to mention the bread service! We were offered either a Baguette or Focaccia bread. The focaccia was so outstanding, we bought an extra half loaf to bring home!!! Even though we were both happily satiated, we shared their pan fried pound cake with salted caramel gelato and chantilly cream for dessert! It was simply amazing! The management staff and chef came to our table to check on our service and meals. They were very appreciative of our glowing feedback! We'll definitely be coming back!
