Where to start? Without overstating it, this is one of the best restaurants on the east coast. I've lost count of the number of high end chefs whose meals we have enjoyed around the world and I'm not joking when I say that I can count on one hand the places that I would say are better than Blu. After numerous trips I still can't put my finger on what exactly is done differently at Blu to outperform so many fantastic restaurants. It's as if they have somehow managed the flavors of a Michelin restaurant with plating that isn't so... boring and sterile. Portion sizes are more than adequate, none of that one taste nonsense here. The service is always fantastic, professional and friendly. The owner is occasionally willing to share recipes with you and has never disappointed me with a recommendation. The cocktails? Just "wow". Perhaps what makes this place so fabulous is that they manage to do so well in so many categories. I'll consider that more in depth next time I make a reservation which may just have to be today. Speaking of, if you don't make a reservation, don't be disappointed when you don't have a seat. This isn't a place you can always walk in and sit down. They don't have many tables and it's obvious that they aren't the type of place to sit more people than they can take care of. Let me start by saying the staff was super nice and the view from the upstairs rooftop deck was lovely. We had high hopes for dinner but if I am being honest it was a solid B-. My husband had the shrimp curry which he liked and he said the strawberry vinaigrette on his salad was great. I had chicken piccata which was pretty bland except for the lemon. The meat wasn't seasoned well and I didn't see any capers in sight. It was on a bed of pasta which wasn't sauced so pretty dry to eat. The roasted broccoli was good. The restaurant did seem to be short staffed as several tables were left with dirty dishes well after guests had left which takes away from the ambiance for other diners. I really wanted to love this place. The building was cute and well done but the food has a way to go. read more

If you want to sit on the rooftop, make a reservation, but the dining room is also nice. We saw only two servers and they were working hard!! They kept a smile on their face the entire time. Had a delightful mother-son lunch at this new restaurant! We sat in the back dining room in a comfortable seat with a view into the kitchen. Numerous wine bottles were on display around the kitchen window. These are exquisite bottles globally sourced. Blu has a "Wine Wednesday" event worth attending where you can sample some of their wines and receive a discount on bottles. The upstairs terrace was full, meaning it's a popular hangout spot. The quieter indoor space was more conducive to conversation. Jenna and her team of servers did a good job. She brought our food as it came out of the kitchen. Blu serves generous portions so we happily took half our meals home. Definitely interested in their wine hour and happy hours at their bar & lounge. read more

We came here the night of our engagement around 8pm and were turned away because we were told they "don't serve after 8:15" due to a new seating policy. That was disappointing, but we decided to give them another chance for Sunday brunch. Unfortunately, the experience was just as unwelcoming. We were told there was a large reservation coming in and that with only two cooks, it would be at least a 30-minute wait. That's completely understandable--but instead of offering us options (like sitting at the bar or outside), the staff repeatedly emphasized the long wait time in a way that made it feel like they didn't want us there. We were willing to wait, but the overall tone and lack of effort to accommodate us made it clear we weren't welcome. Really disappointing, especially given the special occasion. read more

We were heading to Williamsburg Va and stopped in for Brunch. I started with a Bloody Mary, one of us ordered a local red ale and the girls split a bottle of Cabernet. The guys ordered the Blu Crab Bennie (eggs Benedict) one with hollandaise on the side the girls split the smash burger. There was a piano player singing and adding to ambiance. The server was friendly and knowledgeable. The Bloody Mary was awesome with a capital A!!!! The local red ale was excellent. The food was delicious!!!! Dined on a Saturday and called ahead and made a reservation, specifically asking for both back. Arrived and us along with two other couples were waiting outside. The door was locked, so we thought. After 15 after opening I knocked on door, staff came to door. I asked if they were open and he said yes, although no customers were inside and no one outside had been helped. Then I was told the door was unlocked just very hard to open. Okay - so I gave our name and mentioned I called ahead for reservation. Then I was asked if I wanted to sit up on roof, I was walking with a cane, going upstairs was not an option, a service focused server should realize this. Then we were told, just pick a table you'd like. Then I asked, do you have any tables with a back, or a booth? So we got to a table with a back that faced the kitchen window where orders are picked up. Ordered appetizers wild mushrooms and bread. I asked what mushrooms they had and was told, a trio but didn't know the kind. These mushrooms came swimming in butter and oil and mushrooms so chewy really NOT enjoyable. Along with mushrooms we were given toasted cheap wheat sliced Bread from Costco. The soup we ordered was more cream than ingredients also, so we boxed up both soup and appetizers to bring home and make something else with them. We ordered a surf and turf dish, requesting MR filet and it came so blue/raw it turned us off and sadly fish SO chewy we couldn't even cut with a steak knife. Now I am wondering why the owner is the chef. So I ordered a burger instead. They would not remove the cost of the surf and turf because the chef was "willing" to toss meat back on grill. They missed they point of the experience. So for me, hospitality was a fail, food a real miss, and farm To table has never been so disappointing. What a small but beautiful restaurant! Offering inside and outside seating close to water. This restaurant offers farm to table meals so the menu is ever changing, We arrived when they were offering brunch. The menu had something for everyone, just about. I will note there was no kid menu - so that might be a deal breaker for some. We decided on a few dishes, my favorite was the mushroom omelette! It was very flavorful and delicious. Had a horrible experience at Blu. Waited an hour for our lunch, the wine we ordered never arrived, water glasses left empty. My Thai shrimp salad was terrible. The shrimp was mushy and the salad was warm/hot, (as described in the menu) also mushy and tasted nothing Thai at all. It was gross. I also ordered a dumpling soup which consisted of a think mushroom sauce & fried soggy dumplings, no broth. The server never came to check on us and still nothing to drink. We finally asked for the check & I asked for compansation for my meal. At which point the manager came to the table & started asking questions, why we wanted a a discount, did I read the menu, how many bites I took & what I do at home when I don't like the food I cook? Completely berating me. I told it was fine I'd pay and asked him to step away so we could pay the check and leave. Nope, he stayed and continued to harass me, questioning me & said I was now being rude to him, which I wasn't, I was calm & polite. Others at our table asked him to leave also but he stood there starting to raise his voice, all in a crowed dining area. We were told the owner of Blu also said no to any compensation for the food. The worst dining experience I have EVER had. Just unbelievable the lack of professionalism and customer service. read more

Our visit started out well and our food arrived fairly quickly. Waitress took our food to the wrong table but she did offer to have my salad remade. My husband saw what happened and told me no one touched my plate so I opted to keep the food. Once I started eating the salad I realized it was missing the chick peas. The waitress said she would check on it but didn't come back until I had finished the salad. The kitchen forgot the chick peas but she still offered to bring me a dish of them. I replied I didn't want to eat just a bowl of chick peas since my salad was now gone & I would pass. She was nice but seemed a little too busy since there were several tables on the rooftop on a nice spring day. We had to try a few times to get her attention for water refills and to process our bill. I was a little disappointed. My husband enjoyed his smoked salmon sandwich but felt his side dish of kale pasta salad was on the small side. We did enjoy our cocktails. We were also interested in dessert but it wasn't offered and we just received the check so we just paid and left. With the high cost of everything these days our lunch was $68 before tip, 2 cocktails, a salad and a sandwich. read more

In a nutshell, underwhelming. You can tell this is a new place, as there seem to be kinks they are working out, but given the reviews written they look to be on a downslope. The seating isn't very comfortable, and I question the ability to put 5 or 6 at the tables that were set that way. Nor could I imagine sitting on that couch between other people. It's a small space so think, intimate atmosphere. The service was fair. While the server was very kind and helpful, he wasn't... attentive. Given the price point, I was surprised how infrequently we saw him. There was live music when we were there, and the musician was super friendly, with the table next to us ending up having a wonderful conversation with him, and he was amazing talking them through The menu was VERY limited. And I was surprised how average the food was given the price point. I know Sunday brunch is bougie, but a watery vegetable frittata was unimpressive. I actually thought, "I could take this home and cook it more so it's not runny." I ask you, should you ever make that statement at a restaurant? Coffee options were limited. French press coffee but no latte or flavor options. Sadness given the upscale billing. You enter through the back of the building, and the parking is odd. It's more than a little off putting to walk by the dumpster before you enter a restaurant. I like what they're aiming for, but I'm leaving disappointed. Terrible experience! Table was not ready when we arrived for our party's reservation. The service was horrible. We kept hearing the excuse, "We only have one waiter for the entire restaurant." We had to get our own drinks at the bar after waiting 45 minutes. It took 2 hours (YES 2 HOURS) to get our food and then it was all wrong. Food was mediocre. The whole experience took over 3 hours for lunch. They incorrectly charged us twice for food. Upon making the reservation I informed them it was a special occasion, the staff did not acknowledge nor was anything special done. I chose this restaurant because the website made it look so inviting and delicious. I would not recommend Blu Farm to Table to anyone! The ambiance was great, it felt warm, inviting, the server was great, helpful and attentive. The food was bad. We had overcooked tuna, charred beef tenderloin that was undercooked (so it had an acrid burnt flavor and was bloody at medium rare). The food looked great, just was poorly prepared and we couldn't eat most of it. Great food I got the lobster BLT I would rate it a 9/10. The cocktail I got was the "v card" I was not expecting this drink to that spicy lol. If you like spicy things that is the perfect drink for you. The spice in not overpowering at all just the right amount. I would rate this an overall 9.5/10. Great customer service. We happen to have lunch on a Monday, rare for any restaurant to be open and appreciated. First visit for me and we lucked out, it was Mushroom Monday, had the grilled cheese/mushroom sandwich ((local mushrooms) excellent. LOVE everything about this beautiful place!! Rachel was our server and she was more than fabulous during our first visit to the restaurant. She enthusiastically accommodated our kids and was so personable. She believed in the concept of the restaurant and she was genuinely happy we were happy. The whole team worked together really well. I love the farm to table concept and the style the owner has chosen. She flawlessly delivered! Every detail was thoughtful and gorgeous- sophisticated but approachable. The food was better than amazing - very flavorful, fresh, creative and beautifully presented. The sparkling Sauvignon Blanc is my new favorite and since their menu changes often, will be very excited to keep trying new options too! Will go back again and again!! 12 Women from River Dunes drove an hour to have our Women's Christmas Luncheon at this lovely restaurant today. The ambiance of the entire restaurant and store was so beautiful and fun. The long table they'd set up for us with a gorgeous natural arrangement of pine limbs, pine cones, Christmas touches, and a spoon of artsy magic..... was over the top. Each place setting had a candy cane, assortment of Christmas candy, and a festive paper straw.... It was so thoughtfully laid out with great care to details. Our waiter, DK, was phenomenal. He was on task, so kind, checked on us regularly, and sweet as could be. Everyone enjoyed their delicious lunch and mixed drinks. Plus they have gluten free options. I ordered the soft shell crab on a croissant, my friend got the watermelon salad with shrimp and the girls both got tuna. The presentation was beautiful. Labor Day decided to take a drive over to Washington and grab a brunch/lunch and visit this historic little town. We searched Yelp and found this place which appears to just have opened, and it sounded intriguing. We were seated upstairs out on the terrace and had a really nice view of the river. The terrace, however must sit on top of the air conditioning unit for the building, and while the noise wasn't noticeable, there was a vibration which you could feel throughout the entire meal. It did shut off a few times, and the running joke we had with the table next to us was that we needed to drop some more quarters into the hotel bed massager. That's basically what it felt like. Anyway, that really wasn't the main reason for the poor rating. It basically boiled down to service and the food prep. After being seated, we placed our drink order. 2 mimosas. It was not crowded but it took them nearly 20 minutes to deliver our drinks. That seemed excessive to us. We also put an order in for one of their 'shared' starters - roasted red pepper hummus with veggies and roasted cauliflower. I only wish I had remembered to grab a photo of it, but what was delivered to our table (after a 25 minute wait) was a very large plate with 4 cauliflower florets and roughly 6-8 extremely thinly sliced slivers of peppers. I would imagine if I had pieced together all of the slices, I MIGHT have had about a 1/4 of a pepper. It was very sad. I mean I'm not looking for a meal but if you're going to list something as shareable, well it better amount to something more than that. In fairness to Blu - they sensed immediately the disappointment and sent out a second plate, but it really wasn't any more that the first plate we received. Ok but wow. On to our main course... We both ordered the shrimp po-boy. First thing noticed when the plate was delivered was that the shrimp was supposed to be tossed in a house sauce. As you can see from the photo - no sauce. I'm not sure how that makes it out of the kitchen - but alas - we had to request that they correct the problem. They brought us little dishes with the sauce which we had to pour onto our shrimp. Portion wise - the sandwich wasn't all that filling - bread was phenomenal tho - but afterwards we were both still hungry. So back to the 'shared' starter selections. This time we went with the cucumber salad (also pictured). My dining partner thought it was too sweet. Personally I thought it was good. Only issue - again, not nearly enough to consider it shareable. So in conclusion - this place is new and it was clear to me that it still has quite a bit of things to figure out. The service was slow, the shared appetizers are not shareable, the main course, incomplete. I'm pretty sure I would pass on this place if given another chance - at least until they iron out a few of their wrinkles. Could be a 4 star, but for now, too many issues so a 3 feels about right read more

Had lunch with my DIL here today. I highly recommend trying this place out. I'm they do seasonal farm to table so the menu will change. I had the chicken salad sandwich and she had the tuna sandwich. Both were excellent. The bread was super tasty and the meats were seasoned perfectly. Also, the warm potato salad appetizer was yummy. Our waiter, Gerardo was so attentive. Just make sure to park in back. If you park on Main in front you need to walk around the building to get to the restaurant entrance. read more

Very disappointed. The pictures on yelp look much better than the actual interior. The upstairs was closed so we ate downstairs at tiny tables with uncomfortable chairs. At our table we look right into the kitchen. The food was mediocre at best. We were there on a Wednesday night, and the menu was very limited. Strangely, the had 2 different gazpacho soups listed. After friends suggested this place, I took my wife out to it for our anniversary. We chose to sit outside on the rooftop. When we got there there were just a couple of other people there. Those customers suggested that smart people get there early in order to get a table with a good view of the sunset. Wise but also some tables are noisier than others due to rooftop equipment being rather loud and some of the tables vibrate a great deal. We sat and were able to move two more times until we found a table that at which we could talk and where our cutlery would not rattle around. The food selection was limited and was decent but not worth coming from from out of town. The prices were a but much for the experience. The server while nice and friendly did not know the menu well at all. She had to go ask the kitchen server times if asked any questions about how a dish is prepared. Her first attempt to answer my wife's simple questions, was to just read her the menu aloud. My wife is literate and had already read the menu so that was a bit insulting. Like another reviewer wrote-the server(s?) do not know much about wine and stated that she had never heard of wine from South Africa before. Then she asked us where South Africa was located. So far it was an ok night, rather disappointing but not much to complain or complement about. After the meal, I went to use the men's bathroom before heading home. Well, I don't know yet what the inside joke is but I found the display of pornography on the ceiling of the men's room disgusting and so did my wife. Had we known before dinner about the hundreds of Playboy looking cutout magazine pages stuck the roof, we would have left before trying the food. Some of the nude images were very disturbing and appeared to be children on display. The deal breaker for us is when we asked the woman at the desk there about what was all that about and did she know it was in there. She replied that she knew, that is was the owner who decorates the bathroom that way, and that is was his place and he can display whatever he wants. When I asked what do they do when children/young boys need to use the bathroom, the woman told my wife and I that they don't get many children who go to the bathroom alone and if we do "We tell them not to look up." So if you desire an ok view of the waterfront on an industrial part of a modified rooftop with ok food and can turn your moral compass off, accept the owner treating male customers to an adolescent fantasy gym locker in a fraternity house by degrading women and publicly displaying pornography which may involved displaying nude children, enjoy yourselves because we will never return. I wonder how many of the other reviewers have ever looked into the men's room, seen the ceiling, and still found the place as charming or as much of a gem. I have too much respect for daughters, sisters, wives, and mothers to support such a restaurant now knowing what I do about the vales and exploitive attitudes of both the owner and his employees. read more
