We celebrated our 10th anniversary that started a bit rocky as we wanted to sit outside. Thanks to our amazing server Alex was able to get us a table. He went out of his way to make sure we had an amazing evening. I can't say enough great things about him. The food was amazing. The risotto was delicious! I had the street corn with it that made for an excellent meal. The drinks were great. Well crafted to match the season. Nocturnal and the gin blossom were the toast of the evening. Where does one start... simply by saying don't bother. The hostess and the server are the only positives... and maybe the drinks. Otherwise, one of the most disappointing culinary experiences I've had in a really long time. We chose the restaurant to celebrate my 50th birthday. After being offered the bar for our seating (after reserving a table earlier in the week) we then waited to be given a high top in the bar area. To the $60 ala cart NY Strips that were ordered Medium Rare and came out as shoe leather (my husband's steak was over cooked, mine was inedible as it had a ribbon of tendon through it - I sent it back). On top of this... we waited 10 mins to get the last of 4 of the main courses, so the over cooked steaks - were also cold. Let's mention the blacked chicken on my daughters meal that was so dry she couldn't swallow it. And the her left overs that she wanted to take home... we never received them. I wont even bring up the BS with the cake... it's to upsetting. Then to add insult to injury, when the bill came they took of one steak and gave us two complimentary glasses of wine. Needless to say, I didn't have dinner on my birthday... went home hungry. Literally. But the kicker... no one came to our table to apologize, and after asking to speak to the manager, he was dismissive and unapologetic. It was like it didn't matter... at all. He failed. I've eaten at many fine restaurants - I've eaten at many superb bars in the US and abroad. This was honestly one of the most disappointing and unfortunate experiences. If you're going to say you're menu is limited because you've mastered the food. Make sure you can deliver steaks better than Outback. Save your money and go there. read more

This is one of the best restaurants I have been to in the suburbs. It is so beautifully decorated with great vibes. Started at the bar for drinks, which were unique and delicious. Hands down the best cocktail menu around. Then our dinner was delicious. Started with the grilled cabbage, which was unique but we devoured. For entrees, we got the short rib and steak frites. The short rib had no fattiness but was so tender, and the parsnip puree was a nice addition. The chimichurri with the skirt steak was perfectly done. Entree portions are on the smaller size but we still left stuffed and didn't have room for dessert. Can't wait to come back. read more

I went to The Prospect for drinks and an appetizer. I absolutely loved the ambiance. The restaurant gives you a Great Gatsby vibe. We only sat on the bar top on the second floor which had a beautiful balcony. The bartender was amazing as well. He explained the appetizer choices down the sauces used. My wife and I came for an eveniung dinner. The food was good. Unfortunaly the service was poor. We waited 15 min before any one came over if we wanted a drink. Then we waited again to take our order. As I said the food was excellent. We waited again to see the desert menue. We finally asked a bus person for the menu. waited again we decided it was time to leave. we ended up having to ask if we could get our bill. We belive the problem was there was a table of 5 men assumed business men. the server was paying all the attention to them. Let me start off with the ambiance. The place is so beautiful and unique. Decor is stunning and you can tell someone paid close attention to detail when choosing interior design. Overall, stunning and you can't find anything like this out here in the suburbs. Service was great. We had the pleasure of sitting in front of the chefs and watching them cook, unique experience. Our server, Serafin, was amazing and suggested plenty of items off the menu, he did not steer us wrong! Food was very delicious and we left full and excited to come back and try more. First time dining; food and service were spectacular. Dining at the Chef's counter allowed interaction with the chef while enjoying our delicious chicken and pasta dishes. After a recent experience, I was very disappointed with The Prospect. The noise level in the restaurant was very bad. The other guest at my table and I were not able to speak without raising our voices. The food was mediocre. In particular, the portions were small and in some cases closer to hors d'oeuvr sizes. Our dining experience at this beautifully decorated restaurant in downtown Mt. Prospect was pleasant. Upon arriving there is valet parking but surprisingly at 6:00 pm on a weekend we found parking in the small shared lot without any problem. After walking past the luxury cars they park near the entrance, we were seated immediately on the first floor. The tables are uncomfortably close to each other which made it very difficult to get up from the table and for staff to move between the tables. The menu is seasonal and our group ordered a variety of starters, mains and sides. If you want bread, you'll pay $10, the basket was enough for 2-4 people. For our mains, we ordered the Pancit, Rigatoni, Corvina and Black Cod. The pasta portions were small and disappointing in both flavor and ingredients. The fish dishes were flavorful, well prepared and nicely plated. The standout was the Street Corn, a delicious, but very small side dish, enough for 1-2 people. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable and friendly and the highlight of the dining experience. Something to note, the bathrooms are individual and on the second floor, there was a line of people waiting for an available bathroom, each time someone from our group went upstairs. Overall, in an overly saturated area (the Northwest Highway corridor from Arlington Heights to Park Ridge) with similar mid-price, seasonal menu restaurants with good service, the Prospect was fine. The decor and lighting make for an elegant dining experience The music was not too loud and very good. I am so glad there is a West Loop vibe restaurant in the suburbs. Food - We had the Octopus, Scallops, and Cavatelli. All three were cooked to perfection, seasoned through, and paired with sides that enhanced each dish's appeal. The portions are what you'd expect from an upscale restaurant, which I personally like. If you are looking for massive portions, this is not your place. If you are looking for quality, flavorful food then this is your place. Drink -The cocktail menu had a wide variety. I had one rum-based cocktail with spiced pear that I highly recommend (can't remember the name). I will be back for more cocktails. read more

This place and the food is amazing. We had the octopus, duck breast, and chilian seabass as well as a few cocktails and dessert. The food is as good as, if not sometimes better, than the likes of Perry's, Capital Grill, Mortons, Shaws, and so on. The ambience is upscale and service is impeccable. To the reviewers that gave it a bad review, mostly on price, I wonder why they couldn't see the prices online. Also, have you noticed that most bad reviews come from people that only have one to three reviews. I don't think this is the community we should be taking advice from. read more

Well I went back with a few friends and we had a Fantastic time. I have not tried the Caesar Salad here before. What makes a Caesar salad special? I don't know but it was "special". We had the risotto, the cod, the Salmon. The presentation was excellent and the food was absolutely delicious. I looked at the plates at the table and there was nothing left on anyone's plate. I had the Rigatoni Bolognese. It was the best I ever had since I dined in a quaint restaurant in the lower west side of Manhattan. Mediocre food and exorbitant prices! We started with 4 lam chops, for #32.00, not bad at all! I had the skirt medium rare, the meat was on the tough side but OK, My daughter got the sword fish which did not taste very fresh and had way too many ingredients, Her husband had the roasted chicken which came with nothing for $30.00 so he had to get a side od mashed Potatatoes, another $10.00 so basically $40.00 for roasted chicken. I'm not cheap and I have eaten at much more exspensive restaurants all over the world, I just don't see the justification here!!! the kicker is $10.00 if you want a basket of bread! The Prospect's Brunch and Beats event is such a great addition to this neighborhood's selection. Located in a quaint area of downtown Mount Prospect this place had such an exuberant feel. It was my first time there and we were celebrating a birthday with all my girls. Brunch and beats mixes delicious food with the sounds of amazing music by special djs every week.
