Thais Repetto is an amazingly gifted Yoga Teacher. Her style is Ashtanga. Many people at the gym…read more(Island Gym & Fitness, Hanapepe) had kept coming to me and saying that this class with Thais had changed their lives. I was really hesitant so I waited about 6 months before I made time and made it my intent to try Thais' class in Ashtanga Yoga. Don't wait as long as I did to experience this wonderful human being. Although I am Indian (Asian Indian, not Native American) and have tried yoga before, I decided that I did not need it in my life and "working out" would suffice for me. I had also been persuaded by some of my religious peers not to take any yoga classes because it was spiritually "bad." The experience I had with Thais was anything but "bad." I had stretched kinks out of my body, had greater realization of my body's aches and pains and I even felt taller after I left the class. I had a new awareness of my breath and being in the present. Thais is completely relaxing and challenging at the same time. She does not believe in making yourself stretch till you have pain. She prides herself in allowing her students to hear what their bodies are telling them. I am completely blessed to have found her on this small island. She really knows this practice well and is very kind to her students. With her Brazilian accent and pursuit of joy and happiness- you don't want to miss this instructor. She also teaches yoga at the Sheraton, Poipu, Kauai at 8:30am. You can book her class at the Beach Activities for only $15.00. Thais offers private lessons at reasonable rates. Mention you found her on Yelp! Book sessions at thaisrepettohawaii@gmail.com

Six years of crossfit and I've visited half a dozen boxes but this place was a joke. Members were friendly but Bethany had a thin mask of friendliness and micromanaged everything from no chalk to no water in the gym. She even told me at one point during the lift to not push too hard since I'm on vacation. Due to the small size of the gym, even though I paid for a full week, there was no option for staying after to work on any lifts in my current cycle, and was told open gym time is only for members. Needless to say I won't be going back. Even though I paid for a week and only used two days, I'd rather check out another local box.
