Also appreciate her natural affect while teaching (doesn't go into some fake ethereal mystical instruction voice which I have seen a lot in the yoga world)--she is who she is 100% of the time--authentic, caring, and wise. Down-to-earth--sincerely wants you to enjoy your yoga. We truly loved her teaching style, creativity, and integrity around yoga practice--and are very grateful to have her bless our wedding preparations with calm, healthy, flexible practice--perfection!

The students and teaching staff are definitely hard core yogis and totally dedicated practitioners. But the studio is warm (pun intended) to the soul, not just the body. It is quite clear that Jen sees the students as the heart and soul of the place! She believes completely that it is through their presence that it works! It seems it is equally through the devotion, kindness, and inclusivity of the rock solid instructor team, that the result is an uplifting, community building, soul supporting, constant -in an ever changing and seemingly otherwise unstable, world! Thais Repetto is an amazingly gifted Yoga Teacher. Her style is Ashtanga. Many people at the gym…read more(Island Gym & Fitness, Hanapepe) had kept coming to me and saying that this class with Thais had changed their lives. I was really hesitant so I waited about 6 months before I made time and made it my intent to try Thais' class in Ashtanga Yoga. Don't wait as long as I did to experience this wonderful human being. Although I am Indian (Asian Indian, not Native American) and have tried yoga before, I decided that I did not need it in my life and "working out" would suffice for me. I had also been persuaded by some of my religious peers not to take any yoga classes because it was spiritually "bad." The experience I had with Thais was anything but "bad." I had stretched kinks out of my body, had greater realization of my body's aches and pains and I even felt taller after I left the class. I had a new awareness of my breath and being in the present. Thais is completely relaxing and challenging at the same time. She does not believe in making yourself stretch till you have pain. She prides herself in allowing her students to hear what their bodies are telling them. I am completely blessed to have found her on this small island. She really knows this practice well and is very kind to her students. With her Brazilian accent and pursuit of joy and happiness- you don't want to miss this instructor. She also teaches yoga at the Sheraton, Poipu, Kauai at 8:30am. You can book her class at the Beach Activities for only $15.00. Thais offers private lessons at reasonable rates. Since I was training for half marathons and endurance events when I was working with her, she gave me some great poses and stretches for runners, and tailored it specially for the other sports I was doing. She also asked me if I had any injuries that we should work around. Luckily, I didn't have any at the time, but it was very thoughtful of her to ask and keep it in mind. This was the first time I tried reiki -- practice with sound bowls. I won't ruin the mystique of them, but I will say they were an interesting experience and I'd give it a try if you've never had before. Ask Jude about it - it's a cool component of spiritual yoga that many other yoga places don't offer. If you want a great experience for mind, body, and soul, she's the best!

I went on yelp and found Barre Up Fitness, checked the website out and found a deal for $10 first class. Booked the first class, but got lost the first time since Im a tourist and dont know my way around. I called the number and spoke with Lisa. I was greeted by her kindness and compassion and let me tell you, she went above and beyond for me. She kindly clarified the location and set me up for a class the next morning. Even texting me and giving me in writing where to go, and wishing me well. The next morning, I got lost again, but i was closer to the destination. I called her and she quickly ran out to meet me and walk me inside making sure I wouldn't get lost. Upon meeting Lisa, you feel how kind and warm she is, eager to accommodate, and make sure I was comfortable. I was the only one in class that morning, and felt bad she came all that way just for me. She expressed every students is important to her, and she recognizes the time and effort I made to meet her so even, her personal rule of thumb is if it is just 1 person she will come. She is so sincere, and has a great recharging spirit. I told her I was used to Hot Pilates and she turned off the AC for me to taylor the experience for me. The class was "Barre", the Mat, weights, band was all set up and ready for me. Her instructions are clear, and her transitions are seamless. She made sure I had the right form so I wouldn't hurt myself, and would check if I was comfortable. I got a great workout and felt SOO good after. People really need to know about her!! If she was in instructor where I live in California, her classes would be Jam packed. I look forward to attending her class again when I visit Kauai. 100/10 If you're visiting, or a local contemplating on trying her class out, please don't hesitate.
