STAY AWAY! This company had me pay upfront and did not return to complete the work we agreed to. They assured me there would be no leaks in the plumbing once they opened my pool. I sent them video of all the leaks that needed to be tightened up and the owner's response was that he wasn't sending his crew back out because the leaks were minor. No pool leak is a minor leak. Laura, responded with a quote within a few minutes, set up a time/date for the crew to arrive, and stayed in communication with me throughout the process. When the crew showed up we had 10 to 14 men on our property. Not only did the entire crew work tirelessly and were extremely professional. After The Pool Guys completing the job the crew cleaned up and left our property looking beautiful. The quote that was given at the beginning of our process is the amount I paid when everything was finished. Took this obnoxious MF to court and found out he had been to my home prior to moving in and knew there was a previous issue with the pool needing repair that was fixed by another company. I loss but I should of won. He puts on the charm and acts like a professional and the magistrate buys it. He's actually very obnoxious and doesn't listen to you and doesn't fully close your pool to the extent that there's nothing left for you to do. I had to finish securing the cover to pool. I had this company come out to open my pool and they saw tears in my liner. They quoted me 1k to fix the pool liner and get the pool ready for summer fun. They stole 500 down payment I gave them And my pool looks like it did the first day they came out! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY THEY ARE THIEVES AND DID NOT DO THE WORK THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO DO! I'm very saddened to leave A nasty review but they just robbed me for 500 dollars! The Pool Guys installed our in ground pool in 2014. This included removing our above ground pool and the huge deck surrounding it. That was an exciting experience then and having them install our new liner was just as exciting now. They have been servicing our pool since the original installation. Our recent experience with Justin and his team went very well. They were here on the date we prearranged, did the prep work, came back the next day even though it rained on and off throughout the day and completed the job. We've had lots of contractors over the years and some of them were terrible, sloppy, using vulgarity and just plain rude. Justin and his team couldn't have been nicer. We really appreciated their hard work and the beautiful job they did on our pool. We plan to continue using the Pool Guys for all our pool needs. read more

My experience was fantastic! Starting with Laura who my guess is the receptionist all the way to Justin who was very informative. After doing a full inspection of my pool, the equipment and foundation gave me a great refresher crash course on proper care of a new pool along with a few nuggets of knowledge I didn't even know about. Things have not changed a lot since I last took care of a pool however, in 15 years the smallest things can change that make all the difference in spending a little now instead of spending a whole lot later. Highly recommend! I called this company to ask questions and get an idea of what I would be looking at to replace my pool. I had a small rust spot that had started leaking through, so assumed the worst. From that first call, I was so impressed. She explained to me that they most likely could repair and not to write it off yet. (What business actually does that and offers to save you money rather than take more?!) They came out the following week and said they could repair it easily. Within roughly 2wks of that initial phone call, they were out. In one day's work, the pool was drained, repaired, new liner installed, and back up and running with heater on for kids to swim the final days of summer! Very appreciative. After much research for good pool service and repairs in Sacramento area, my son used Pool Guys to replace filter system in older pool of home he bought. The Pool Guys responded quickly and got needed work done quickly. The results were magnificent. After I saw that magical transformation, I got Frank out to look at our pool, which we were always struggling to keep clear and blue. Franks experience and knowledge about pools cannot be matched. Recommendations and pricing were very reasonable and so we followed his advice. Since then, our pool has never, ever been so beautiful. Every single day!!! Todd helped me with my above ground pool. His response was very prompt. He had a team at my house quickly to replace the liner. Work was fast and very thorough. 3 and a half hours to empty, remove old liner, repair/paint several areas on wall, take care of sand and have new liner installed with pool filled. These guys were not the cheapest. I only went with them purely because my mother-in-law has used them twice before. I wish I would have used someone else. There are wrinkles and footprints in the bottom of the liner. I have rocks around my pool which they had to dig out. I had to call them to come back and put them back around the pool and clean up other things. Also, you would think if you were paying so much for a liner they would do you the favor of hooking up your plumbing for your filter/pump.... I guess not. Todd was the guy who sold me on my pool. He had a bunch of young guys come out a do the job who were clearly in a hurry to get it done. I wouldn't recommend them. I guess the only good thing I can say is that the pool has been set up for a couple months now and it doesn't leak. read more

End of last season we knew that the pool needed a new liner and there was a leak in a line as the skimmer wasn't working. Our previous company told us they wouldn't fix it that they no longer worked on pools with liners. Called The Pool Guys and they were great. Gave us a quote at the end of last year and then came out at the start of the season to open the pool and start the work. We had a grad party so first they got the crack in the skimmer fixed, and the pool up and running for the party while the liner was on order. Had the liner installed last week and it is like a new pool! They came back out four days after installation to make sure everything was working, clean pool again and test water. Have been great to work with and very responsive. Gave me a recommendation on a robotic pool cleaner, ordered it and helped me set it up. Very happy with the quality of work and service and will continue to use them to open, close, and service the pool. read more

Highly disappointed. We used them to redo our sand filter as the other company we've been using for everything else couldn't since it was purchased through the pool guys. I found it incredibly unprofessional that they would not return phone calls but did all their business by text messages and that we could leave $500 in the bbq so they could do work while no one was home. We specifically asked they come on a certain week while someone was home. Well yes it was nice they came early to do the work, they didn't tell us until the morning of; which was not the week we asked for and no one was home. They also left the old sand at the furthest point of our yard which is roughly a half acre. There was no discussion on what to do with the sand, and we have dogs. After coming home to this mess, a quick google told me you should not leaving a pile of pool filter sand in the yard and it's harmful to pets, which we have 2 dogs. Highly disappointed that they couldn't follow simple directions to come when we were home and why couldn't they just take the sand? Had to move 50 pounds of sand at night to make sure the dogs wouldn't eat it. read more

Extremely pleased with Rich who analyzed our problem. Our pump was no longer able to prime due to age and wear. He recommended the new variable speed pump which is energy efficient, saving us energy and money in the long run. He also informed us that DTE was offering a $350 rebate on the purchase of that pump. He did an amazing job routing our plumbing with the new pump making it much easier to access our new gate valves and pump basket. The old valves were leaking so they were replaced too. The pool sand was changed as well, so I am now confident that our pool will be ultra clean. Made a call to report the problem and within 24 hours our job is complete! It doesn't get better than that! I would NEVER recommend this company to install your pool. We got stuck with them because of the pandemic and couldn't switch. If it wasn't for that we wouldn't have worked with them at all. First off, the communication is NON EXISTENT. We were given their name by the place we bought the pool from. We began calling them the first week of March to get an install date. We called and called and called and called. WEEKS later we got a call back. The guy said oh I'll be out on Tuesday. Then Tuesday rolled around and he'd be out Thursday. Then Thursday he'd call and he would be out the next week. Then that next week turned into a week later and a MONTH afterward he finally came out. He told us he'd pull the permits and he'd start working on it as soon as he came in. Then crickets. Several texts, and phone calls went to them for status updates. NOTHING. Finally the pool store people reached out to them and behold the permits were in. They said they'll come out the next week to begin work and a few days after for the install. SHOCKINGLY- that didn't happen and we are three weeks out before they began the work. Over and over we were promised we'd have our pool up before memorial day but again, that did not happen. When the owner finally came out to dig we asked for a date and he told us he couldn't give one because he has 70 other jobs that were "more important" than ours so he'd get back to us after those were done. Several weeks later he gave us a date only to yet again cancel it and push it back another week. We were told they'd install our pool the end of April and it's mid-June before it was installed. If you are thinking of having them install your pool THINK AGAIN- unless you enjoy being ghosted, constant date changes and disappointment. read more

My mother has unfortunately used this company for the past few years. It's sad that there are not more options for pool companies. She called back in April to schedule her pool to be open and to install a heater. This was giving them well over $3000 of work to do! She was promised this project would be done the week of May 7th. The week of May 7th came and NO ONE showed! The following week came and went and still no one showed. Finally they came the week of the 21st, which keep in mind, she wanted this project completed before the holiday weekend. They were able to open the pool, but could not install the electric /gas in time before the weekend. This is very upsetting as she had planned well in advance and timelines clearly are not important. We will now have to swim in cold water and not enjoy the new heater we were so excited to have this year. Living in Michigan, has made heaters almost a requirement to enjoy your pool. I would not go with this company! Search and find someone with a much better reputation for sticking with promised timelines. read more

After my husband's recent passing I wanted to do something special for our two daughters. My husband and I had discussed getting a pool when he felt better. He loved the idea of our daughters having their friends over and having barbeque parties with family. Unfortunately, that didn't happen and he passed away 2 months ago. I gave my daughters the choice of getting a pool or taking a long vacation to Florida for the first time. They decided on a pool and I purchased a nice 18ft round pool, something my young teen daughters and I could handle by ourselves. I called several installation companies to shop around for the best price. Most of the "other" companies didn't want to answer any questoins until they sent someone out to survey the area where the pool would go or they were booked until "mid July". When I called The Pool Guys I was very leary that this, too, would be another brush off. I was SO wrong. Every person I spoke to and dealt with at this company was professional, patient and supportive. They worked with my schedule and my budget. My pool came in and they picked it up and installed it in a matter of hours. The crew of young men were very PROFESSIONAL and RESPECTFUL to us and my property; they even hauled away an old play house my girls used to play in. Joe showed my daughters and I exactly how to take care of our filter and how to connect the vacuum and use it properly. We were surprised at just how easy it was. They even offer weekly pool cleanings for people that are too busy or are unable to take care of their pool !!!! I am happy to say that the girls and I are more than capable of maintaining our pool but am comforted in knowing that I can call for general maintenance any time I wish. Within 30 minutes of the completion of installation Justin came by and inspected everything, made a couple adjustments and explained some of the features of our pool that we should be mindful of. Most importantly, they made us feel comfortable with our new pool and we didn't have to wait all evening for someone to come out! The girls and I thoroughly enjoyed having them here. Because it was a hot day and I filled up a cooler with ice water for them which they greatly appreciated. I believe that if you want good respectable service you must treat your contractors with that same respect! This was a terrific group of guys that would invite back so they could enjoy the fruits of their labor! Most importantly, I NEVER felt taken advantage of. Being recently widowed, it's easy for companies to prey on people and use their insecurities against them. At no time was I talked into anything I didn't need nor did I ever feel pressured about purchasing additional items or services. I am so happy to say that I have a wonderful support system with The Pool Guys and their family of employees and look forward to a summer of fun with my daughters. We have used these Guys for 6-7 years when they were first starting out. Loved their service and prices seemed reasonable. Spent approximately $16K+ in those years with them. We are in West Bloomfield and they are in Shelby. Had them scheduled for our normal opening of pool, but due to being across town they did not schedule us until 6/1. We confirmed appt. on 5/31. At 5:00 PM on 6/1, after waiting all day, they called to say they would not be coming out, ever again, due to being their only customer on west side of town. They left us hanging. Very, very unprofessional. The proper way would have been to "honor" their appt. with us and then informed us of the change to their policy at that time. Left messages for the owners, but never received a courtesy call back. Would say to everyone.......Buyer, beware! Once they have your money, there is, obviously, no loyalty. read more

As a pool owner who has taken care of my own pool for over 8 years, The Pool Guys were referred to me when I mentioned my frustration with my then local pool company. Justin came out and he and his guys took care of a few problems I had had for many years with water not draining away from pool, lighting, and a few other small problems. This is a condensed account of my pool building journey with The Pool Guys LLC. If you choose to read through this review it will give you a real feel of what this process is like and how Justin and his team will interact with you during it. First off let me state that my Wife and I absolutely love our new pool! So, how did we get there? Let's start off with the ability to make time for you even before you're an actual client. Justin and I started conversations regarding pool designs and pricing back in October of 2016. Over the course of the next year and half my Wife and I tweaked our design and Justin stayed right there with us. He was always available for a phone call or even a visit when needed in order to finalize things. I'm a big believer in testing any contractor prior to entering into any contractual agreement with them so I know what I can expect from communications point of view. Once we agreed on the pool design and signed the contract they ordered the supplies required to build our pool. Justin kept me updated with estimated start date which was accurate! Let me also state that I'm a project manager by trade so I'm very much into schedules and timing and they were able to satisfy that requirement which is saying a lot! On to quality of build. Since I'm able to work from a home office three days a week I was able to observe the construction process and I have to say that these guys work very hard! Another benefit is that was able to speak to the city inspectors regarding the work being done and there wasn't a one that didn't speak highly if the work being done. As an example, for the footing of the pool they used more concrete than the city even requires. Another example is the amount of time that went into prepping the deck foundation. They had different workers compacting the base for solid day! I truly feel like that pool is built like it was in his own back yard. Now as we were nearing the end of the construction process I let Justin know that we were planning a pool opening party that coincided with another major milestone in the family. In order to make that happen Justin drove to the distribution center of the carrier that was supposed to deliver the liner to his warehouse to pick it up so that he had it to install before the weekend. These guys charge $400 to put in a pool liner if you buy it yourself and I know that if you look on their website it seems like they are professionals but they are NOT! First of all, who ever sets up the appointments does not know what they are talking about. The woman on the phone told us we were the only appointment for today. Our appointment day comes along and we waited around ALL day from 8am ready to go! Do you know what time these "pool guys" showed up? 6:30pm!!! We DID NOT allow them to install our new liner because not only were the men rude when they showed up but their boss who called once we sent them off IS a royal nightmare! When we told him that how the business is run is unprofessional and unacceptable he simply got angry and HUNG UP on us! End of story: Save yourself the trouble and DO NOT hire them! They think that they can install a pool liner in an hour! You can't! The first liner our pool had has lasted for 10 years! 10 years! It was installed by Pool Town and those workers took their time and we had a liner that lasted 10 years! read more

These guys were very nice. Lauri the receptionist was very pleasant. I informed her that the pool I had was old and did not know when the last time the previous owner used plus I was a new pool owner. When the pool guys came out they stated I needed a new liner plus other things that needed to be repaired. I then just decided to purchase another pool which was not cheap. Lauri suggested a pool model as well as a liner. Todd, Justin, Jake, and Rich were very nice. When they came out they had to dig up my Hostas plants which they did not plant back after the pool install. This was the only down fall. They answered all my questions and were very helpful. The service was great. Again Lauri was awesome in answering my concerns. read more
