I live in Madison Heights about a mile from the Viscount store. I have been a customer for over 20 years.
I have spent thousands of dollars in this store.
When I first went in there, there was a guy standing outside cussing out the owner and told me don't buy anything here, the guy is a jerk.
I've had many service issues prior to replacing my 18ft. above ground pool liner.
Too many to mention here.
I purchased a new liner and a new drain system from Viscount. They referred me to their in house installer Pro Pools, Joe Henry and his brother.
Which is not listed as a company on the internet.
Last September I had Pro Pools, Joe Henry out to change my liner.
Here's where the nightmare begins. The drain was improperly installed: there was a 2 thread coupler before the shut off that should have been cemented, and the shut off should have been before the coupler - terrible design and install. Pro Pools and Viscount should have not let this damage happen!
It wasn't cemented and loose and in February I started losing water.
Lost all 9,000 gallons in March - didn't know what was going on. Big hunks of damaging ice remaining in the pool. I paid almost $2,000 for this amateur installation. I told Joe if there's anything in the dirt that needs to be removed I could help clean it up. After the job was done a few days later as I entered the pool I found several rocks pertrudind the ground surface.
Not only did they do an amateur job, they rushed through the job and had caused me nearly $2,000 redoing the drain and repairing the liner which now will probably not last the usual life span.
Reached out to Joe at Pro Pools for any help.
No response - not surprised.
My skimmer was leaking once I got the water back up - more improper installation.
Insult to injury I called Viscount for a new skimmer - they quoted me $60. When I went to the store Rob rang me up - told me the total was $95.
I informed him I just called and I was quoted $60. He gave me some lame excuse and threw his employee under the bus.
Furthermore I contacted the other Viscount store on Grosbeck.
He told me the Madison Heights store is corporate and to come in and he would take care of me.
He said they had in house installation and if I needed to replace my liner it would be $700 labor.
Here's where it gets crazy. My original installation was over $1,500. Wow I thought that was great until he gave me the installers card it was Pro Pools, Joe Henry.
I was blown away - I told the manager - I don't think I would be using your installer.
I previously told him my story and when he found out it was Pro Pools he changed his tune. Wasn't very helpful after he realized it was Pro Pools that caused all this damage.
I was ready to buy a new $1,000 pool filter plus other items. I just walked out.
I've been using Leslie pool supply on Rochester road.
I've had Solomon pool repair out to repair the drain installation and the new liner damage. The cost to correct this has been $2,000 plus.
Pro Pools would not even return my calls. I am considering legal action.
And, my history with Bob & Rob at Viscount Madison Heights tells me they wouldn't do a dam thing about this. Since they sold me a bad design drain and referred me to an amateur job installer who does not stand behind his work. The pool industry has a limited season and has limited reputable contractors. Buyer beware - don't get burned like I did. I am done with Viscount. read more
