Chris in the service department is the best. It is always a pleasure dealing with him. When you see Chris it is probably because you have an issue with your pool. He is so friendly and he get right to work and communicates the issue as he goes. Was curious about getting a pool for next spring. Was looking at possibly a semi-above ground or above ground pool. Went in last Wednesday to see what they had to offer. Was met at the door by a salesman who said "our pools start at 65,000 dollars". You could tell that he thought I shouldn't be in there, which I thought was exceedingly rude. Another salesman showed me only in ground pools and didn't want to show me any above ground pools even though they're presented in their website. I will not be back. If you are interested in building a pool, stay far away from the Beninati team. They have beautiful work but the worst customer service. If you decide to go with them, plan on being mistreated and on adding anywhere from 10-20k in additional costs. We are a group of 12 families that have used them and each one of us were given bills that we did not expect for additional costs and not discussed with us. Their finance person is very rude and disrespectful especially to women. The manager of the store, who happens to be the son of the owner came to our home to discuss our concerns with the job and started yelling at my husband as soon as he arrived to our home. My husband had to ask him to leave. What kind of company treats a customer that way? We have never been so disrespected before especially in our own home and by a contractor who we paid over 100k too. If you are fine with nice work and don't mind being disrespected and not a valued customer then this is the place to go to. I have never been so happy to have such a large network. I get asked all the time of where to go for a pool. There is no better compliment than a referral. And every single time I tell everyone to stay away from Beninati. I am happy to say I have convinced 46 people not work with them in the past three years and today was # 47. I am happy to deter families away from this place. I would hate for anyone to go through what my family and I had to experience with them. read more

I went back to get my pool water re-tested after buying $76 worth of chemicals. I only put in 1/2 of recommended chemicals I bought, and then only put in 1/2 of what the print-out told me. My water re-test came back perfect. WTH?! So I bought $40 worth of chemicals I did not need, and cannot return because "All Chem sales are Final". Oh well, live & learn. Never follow the fancy computer instructions to a T. Start w/ one or two chemicals, and add those with care. Then recheck. If you still need additional chemicals that computer said you initially needed, then you can buy them at your recheck. read more

Thanks for the quick responses. I don't know if it makes me feel better or worse that so many people had the exact same experience. I would like to have thought we did our due diligence before putting so much money into a project. What we specifically are looking for now is 1. people who have problems with the finish of the pool, especially people who put in the "Beninati blue" special belnd. (special all right) 2. People who were sold a pool cover, thinking they were buying from the company Beninati supplies when they first meet with you. I am finding out they just order the material and make it themselves. And then charge you the cost of a real company. Of course they do not stand behind there project. 3. People that had an extended build time, with the final permit getting finished after two years. People that heard from Jake how they could not fix or warranty your pool because you were still holding the 10% back for final permit as stated in your contract. 4. People that had issues dealing with Jake getting the correct repairs done to the pool. We will take all names and addresses, but are looking for people that have actual documentation. We saved all texts and phone messages from Jake and John as soon as we knew there was a problem. We are creating a website so customers can review and make their own decisions. After meeting with 4 other pool companies, I decided on Beninati Pools to put in my gunite inground pool. First off, there always seemed to be delays. What was supposed to take 8 weeks turned into 16 before I finally had water in my pool. I have to say that John did a good job in the construction of the pool. However, it was when he left the site and left Jacob in charge of completing the pool that things fell apart. The biggest issue was that the joint between my brick coping and the concrete around the pool was never filled and sealed. I would talk to Jacob every couple of weeks and he assured me it'd be done before winter came. That is until winter came and it still wasn't done. It wasn't until a full year had passed since I had water in my pool that somebody finally came out and caulked the joint. A full year of exposure and a winter passing obviously let water behind my pool, which then expands as it freezes. This caused all kinds of problems with my tile and other things. I had other open issues which Jacob never addressed. My pool permit wasn't even closed out until a full 2 years after they started construction due to issues my county had with their work. I withheld my final payment until the open issues were resolved. Beninati started sending me past due notices. I called them and told them to come fix my issues and I'd gladly pay them. That wasn't good enough. Jacob wanted me to pay him and then he would fix the issues I was having stemming from the exposed joint. He quoted my almost $1000 to fix the issues he caused. I told him my pool was still under warranty. He told me my warranties were void because I was past due. My contract clearly stated final payment due upon completion, which Jacob argued was when they put water in my pool. That's absurd as there were clearly things to be completed, the most important of which was the work the county wanted completed before it would approve the pool and the exposed joint. None of that mattered to Jacob. Water in the pool meant it was done to him. So he never finished my pool, causing issues to the caulking, coping and tile work. He voided the warranty because I withheld payment until these issues were fixed. I've had other pool companies service my pool that were flabbergasted that they'd leave a joint exposed over a winter. Flat out negligence on their part. I had to have the joint resealed once, will need to have all of my tile replaced next spring, and who knows what else in the future. I'd advise people to stay away from this company. read more
