Much improved! South Seas is under new ownership and The Pointe is finally a functioning restaurant. Food and service are both much better and faster.

This is a "sit outside and watch the kids at the pool" type restaurant. You're not directly thrown into a maelstrom of kids, but they are nearby in the pool. Not loving to dine near screaming children but going ahead with it anyway, we had lunch at The Pointe. The kids were far enough removed that extremely high decibel screams were not an issue. BTW, I remember being one of those screaming kids years ago, so this is not an indictment of loud children. Regardless, we had a lovely table overlooking the mayhem ensuing at the pool. You are sufficiently removed from the joie de vivre to enjoy a peaceful lunch. I ordered a Margarita and I hereby attest to the fact that it's the best drink to be had at any South Seas Plantation establishment. My husband ordered "Cheeseburger in Paradise" in accordance with the song by Jimmy Buffet. I went for the ahi poke dish. Holy Mackerel, this was a fabulous lunch. There were bits of ahi tuna cubes, radish, quinoa, carrots and cucumber. So refreshing and also delicious. Unfortunately there were no chopsticks or wasabi. The Cheeseburger in Paradise was just like the Jimmy Buffet song. I didn't taste the burger but the fries were real good. All in all, this is a fine place for lunch with great food.

Great wings and tacos. Expensive but for resort food that is available poolside, you can't go wrong.

My girl friends and I spent the day at Bowman's Beach on Sunday and were starving when we came off…read morethe beach. We found The Sanibel Grill on Yelp and gave it a shot. Best decision ever! The atmosphere was so fantastic and we loved looking at all the pics. Our waitress was the absolute best. We think her name was Kelly. We got calamari and Shiahito peppers. They were so amazing. We got grouper tacos, classic hamburger, fried grouper and shrimp, Parmesan oysters and chicken wings. We all gave five starts reviews! We highly recommend this restaurant to everyone!

There's numerous tv screens to watch all the games - some booths even have their own screen. Aside from the sports decor, The Sanibel Grill has a very similar menu to Timbers Restaurant next door - I'm pretty sure the two are one and the same and share the same kitchen. I ordered the Grouper Fish tacos. You can get them blackened, fried, or grilled. I opted for fried. Note that the Sanibel Grill is known for their signature cornflake crunchy batter - but the grouper fish tacos are the lightly breaded bites and not cooked in their signature batter. The grouper was nicely cooked - tender and delicate bites. They used corn tortillas, which didn't fall to pieces while eating, but they were pretty flimsy (it was easy for a grouper bite to roll out). The tacos are served with rice pilaf topped with black beans which was on the bland side (nothing to write home about). I would've liked a hit of lime to add to my tacos, but the waitress never came back to check on us. Service is minimal. This is bar service all around. My friend ordered the combo basket (Grouper and fried shrimp) and comes with a side of fries and cole slaw. You can hear the crunch - I can see why it's their signature. My sister ordered the shrimp scampi with rice pilaf (she was hoping for pasta but that was not a side option - it's either rice pilaf or potatoes - smashed, French fried, or sweet potato fries). It also came with fresh green beans. The shrimp were nicely cooked and super buttery. She also ordered the crab bisque which was creamy and had good crab flavor, but I wouldn't say it was overloaded with crab meat. We finished the meal with a slice of Florida's signature key lime pie. The slice was small but had giant key lime flavor. It was very sweet but this was my favorite key lime pie slice from our whole trip. The Sanibel Grill gave us average food and average service. No military discount here.

Another great visit to Backyard Fire Grill--this place just doesn't miss…read more Stopped in with my wife for a low-key evening, grabbed some wings and a couple of cold beers. Simple? Sure. But sometimes simple done right is all you need. The wings were on point, the beers were cold, and the vibes were immaculate. Great music, laid-back atmosphere, the kind of spot where you walk in stressed and walk out smiling. And then there's Tina. She waited on us again, and honestly, she's a big part of why we keep coming back. Always awesome, always on top of it, makes you feel like a regular even if you're not. Good service elevates a good meal into a great experience, and Tina delivers every time. Here's my only complaint: I wish there was one closer to Fort Myers. We'd be here all the time if it wasn't a trek. And honestly? This concept would crush it as a larger restaurant with a full bar. Palm Beach Boulevard is seriously lacking in quality restaurant options, Backyard Fire Grill would absolutely dominate that area. Just putting that out into the universe. Someone make it happen. The Verdict: Wings, beers, great vibes, and Tina taking care of us, another five-star visit to Backyard Fire Grill. This place has the formula dialed in. Now expand it so we don't have to drive so far. Please and thank you.

We came for lunch just before any rush. We were seated right away…read more I was happy to see that they're "back" and reopened. We came here many years ago and enjoyed their food. The place is casual, rustic, and come as you are. Got our drinks pdq. We decided to share a combo pot. But after some soup. Got the conch chowder. It came in a large, pretty plastic conch "shell". It was slightly spicy, but not much. In fact, there's hot sauces on the table if you need more heat. There was a nice amount of ground conch pieces in a tasty tomato based broth. It was big enough to share, btw. Then we got their combo steamed pot -- 1 dozen clams and 1 dozen oysters. This takes awhile to cook as we knew it would. So if you get one of these, order soup or an app while you're waiting. The clams are the cedar key ones. Small but tasty. We didn't use the melted butter, but asked for cocktail sauce instead. The oysters -- which you have to shuck with the provided knives -- were wonderful! I'd probably get all oysters next time. In the bottom of the pot are celery and onions which you can also eat. So glad we got to come here and enjoy lunch. We will be back next time on island.

The first time it took the manager almost 20minutes to correct our bill. The server was very nice and said he was giving us an extra discount. He gave us an extra $1.... The second time was much quicker but clearly an issue with their POS system OR staff training OR they need to reprint the HH menus. Happy hour deals are good and the outside patio on the water is nice. Live music was also great! The only food we thought was good was the wings. Grouper Dinner was sad for the price. Fish Tacos were like gringo tacos. The side mango salsa was not enough. Wedge Salad had too much dressing would recommend getting it on the side.

Now these folks even have their own version of the Southernmost Buoy out front (picture below. I started off with the Hot Crab Dip with Tortilla Chips as suggested by our great server Brianna and was very surprised at just how good it was! The Blackened Grouper Sandwich was a little on the "fishy" side of the spectrum as compared to other recent Grouper I've had down here but I used a little of the Mango Salsa that Terri wasn't using on her Grilled Chicken Tacos along with the tartar sauce that was brought out and that made the difference. I also put alot of the Mango Salsa in with the coleslaw (which was good to begin with) because of the Pineapple Coleslaw I've had on occasion down here and I had to mention it to Brianna that they need to add that on their menu as a side because that Mango Salsa Coleslaw I'd just created was deeeeelicious. Everything was good, the atmosphere was upbeat, the staff was friendly and attentive. We'd definitely go back if we're fortunate enough to get back down here again!
