I love this Island store. This spot has been here longer than I have been on this earth, and I think that is so special. Located at the corner of Captiva DR and Andy Rosse Lane this is a perfect spot to pick up things you need without going back to Sanibel. In fact, I think it may be the only grocery store in Captiva. It is not huge, but it does have all the essentials including liquor, beer, and wine. They're affiliated with Bailey's General Store in Sanibel ( RIP until they renovate) meaning they've been serving Sanibel and Captiva since 1899. I know that, because it's on my cute General store tote I purchased when visiting recently. Service is welcoming and friendly, as you can expect from an Island store. There is also a small deli for you to order sandwiches if you want an on-the-go beach lunch. I remember walking down Andy Rosse as a kid from the house we rented with my abuelo to get coffee for the house every morning on vacation, and I'm happy this spot still exists to keep the memories going for folks enjoying the island. Wishing the Bailey's and Island store team the most success as they rebuild. This little store is located on Captiva Island. If you are unfamiliar with this store or island, there are very few grocery stores you can shop at. This is a great shop, if you need last minute items. It is essentially a grocery store, but they have a few additional items such as beer, wine, liquor and gifts such as cups, magnets and shirts. We stopped here a few times on our last visit to the island. There is always something you forget, and we appreciate shopping at a local mom and pop place as opposed to a large retailer. It is very small. They have a cooler with fruits and vegetables as well as other cold items, dry stock items, such as breads, sauces, chips, etc. We noticed that they were also making sandwiches to go. This is super convenient as the beach is directly down the road. For a small store, their wine and beer sections are very large. They even have a walk-in cooler so you can grab drinks cold already. We were able to find almost everything we were looking for or missed bringing with us. My only issue with them was the service. We stopped her a couple of times and the two gentlemen that worked here were always friendly and nice. They welcomed us and said hello. The lady who worked here, at the register was not friendly at all. No greeting, she had mean looks on her face and was honestly just not very nice. It was a shame since this is such a little local shop. We will continue to come here. It is convenient for where my family stays and we always run out of something such as bread or forget something. It is a perfect place to grab those last-minute items. I have even purchased some items here for gifts. They used to have a large liquor section that sold local rum, but I did not see that this time. I might have overlooked it though. Ever since the hurricane we are truly happy to see these businesses coming back and will continue to support them when we visit. If you are in the area I would definitely stop here for any last-minute items, you need. read more

We came to this store so my mom could find these specific jams and jellies she used to buy at Baileys. There were tons of them and she was very happy with the selection. The shop is very well-appointed with everything you would want or need, plus more. The people working in the store were super nice and friendly. Truly a great store! read more

This little market is on Captiva Island and is one of the only if not the only grocery style store on the island. This is a great shop, especially for last minute items or small grocery shopping trips. It is also right down the road from the beach, so perfect spot to stop and fill up your cooler before heading to the beach. They also offer beer, wine, liquor, a small selection of gifts and then of course basic grocery items. There is not everything but for the most part, they have enough. We stopped here a few times on our last visit to the island to grab a few items that we either ran out of or forgot to get on our larger shopping trip. The shop is very small inside with a few parking spots outside. For a small store, their beer, wine and liquor selections are very large. There is also a walk-in cooler so you can grab drinks cold already. We were able to find almost everything we were looking for or missed bringing with us. I was shocked at everything this little store could hold! Coming to Captiva, I anticipated having to go to Sanibel for any groceries we needed, but The Island Store had it all! Milk, eggs, coffee, creamer, bread, beer, wine, etc (even the gummy bears my daughter loves). They also had a sandwich shop, great produce, and some prepared items. Also cute items for a gift or a token of paradise that is Captiva. read more

I have a soft spot for small modest groceries in walking distance of my accommodations, and the nearby beach, so I liked Island Store right off the bat (a shout out to Mel's Market in Waimanalo). It was the woman selling fresh seafood on their side porch that really won me over, however. It's a small establishment, so your selection is limited, and somewhat schizophrenic - Chobani yogurt, balsamic vinegar, but no capers or mesclun mix. But enough basics to pull together a decent enough meal, and friendly service. read more

When I want coffee early in the morning - they're OPEN!!! And the next day when I went back, they recognized me and said THANK YOU for coming back. You can get anything here, from a box of pasta to a can of caviar. Having a local place for these small purchases is a life-saver and the Island Store is just that. read more

My husband went into the store to buy a can of Fix-A-Flat for what we believed to be as a slow leak in our tire. To our dismay it was a complete flat. The gentleman named Richard at the store helped my husband for hours work on his tire to ensure our safety. This is a convenient grocery and general store on Captiva Island. The only downside is the prices are marked up for the convenience of not having to drive 25 min down to Sanibel. They have fresh vegetables and a variety of grocery staples. They have a surprisingly good wine selection including some classic California brands. They also carry beach necessities such as sun hats, kids toys, and sunscreen. read more

While visiting the island store in Captiva for the first time this trip, it was busy, however a local person was able to cut in front of me and get some cigarettes long before I was able to check out. The people that run this particular store, maybe not the owner, but the people that work there are rude, and seem to be doing you a favor. It's too bad there aren't other choices in Captiva to get a couple of things. read more

Its a great place to go get necessities without having to go over the bridge and 30 minutes away from the next Publix. The prices are steep because they can be. Its got a small grocery style section, extremely small, pharmacy type products and a fridge with everything from beer to milk. There is an interesting hot sauce collection as well as homemade jams and jelly's, I might return before I leave this vacation spot to collect souvenirs. read more

Listen, if you're looking for a big box grocery store, this isn't it. It's small, but the selection was spot on. Like many of these smaller shops it's pricey, but what would you expect? They charge more for convenience. The staff has kind and helpful. read more
