the best pizza in richmond virginia 5 stars and excellent customer service!!!! - caymcn

So if you're looking for gourmet sliced pizza or extravagant toppings on a pizza, you've come to the wrong place. What you'll get here are the basic pre-made slices that are heated up in the forms of cheese, pepperoni, or add the basic toppings you need. They will fill you up and they have some greasiness that we crave when we have nights of partying. Obviously that's what it's here for. Prices are affordable and they come out fast. Plus open late. Pretty much what you want in a cheap late night pizza slice option right? read more

Delicious pizza for the cheap. The 2 toppings are like 3.5/4. They had more exotic slices like Buffalo chicken. I definitely think you can't go wrong. They also do a happy hour on domestic cans, sorry can't remember the price. Also want to mention the pizza area was nice and clean! Don't worry about calling ahead of you want slices bc the service is quick. read more

The staff are amazing people! This is also the closest thing I've had to NY pizza, in Virginia. Get the garlic sauce w/ your pizza

A no frill pizza place that's right on Main St, perfect place for a quick bite when you're out for drinks. The pizza came out fresh and hot, no surprises there. The side of complimentary garlic sauce was a nice touch. When you're hungry after drinks and it's late, this is the place to be. read more

Get your pizza made fresh before buying a slice that's been sitting. Only saying this because I'm not sure how long they sit behind the glass. Overall, I would choose this over the other pizza chains. Only because it was fresh, hot and had real ingredients. Decent quality cheese. read more

The Pizza Place - The pizza is about a 7.5 only because I needed it to give me NY style. Not bad at all for $14. - Pizza Near Me - Richmond, Virginia

Stopped in for a quick bite to eat while working. This is one of the better slices of pizza I have had in VA. The dough was nice and thin and had a great crispyness to it. So if that is what you like in pizza this is the spot. Didn't go 5 stars because the place is a little sketchy. They want you to pay only in cash. And they have an ATM there for you to take out cash if you don't have it. I guess it is a good way to save some money for them. It is open until midnight I think. They only sell pizza by the slice after a certain hour. Good idea. I'm sure they make good money when everyone leaves the bar just selling $2.50 slices. The place is a little run down inside. The bathroom is all tagged up and the mirror is broken. So my advice is come during the day when there will be less of a rowdy crowd. read more

Perfectly good pizza, either by the slice or by the pie. But they can get SWAMPED on a Saturday night. Like they even have security guards at the entrance. To a pizza parlor! Also not sure why the dude behind the counter THREW the damn pizza on the counter, but I'll chalk it up to him having a rough night this once. read more

Ordered through Grubhub. Arrived on time, though the driver wouldn't bring it into the hotel lobby. I had to walk outside and get the pizza from him. That's a Grubhub driver issue. Ordered a 22" onion, sausage, and mushroom. Completely burned and inedible garbage. I contacted the restaurant. They basically said "F- you". So, I had to get a refund via Grubhub. Don't order from this disgrace of a restaurant, unless you want issues... read more

Summary: The Pizza Place is a NY Style pizza joint that offers pizza as well as some non-traditional items like Jamaican Beef Patties. Cost: We had 4 slices and 2 bottled beverages for $15. Seems fair. Taste: Crispy and tasty. I think good pizza is either crispy and thin, or deep dish and buttery, and The Pizza Place has some darn good crispy crust. The sauce actually was quite good as well, probably due to the visible herbs and seasoning on top. I have certainly had some worse pizzas in my life. Atmosphere: When we first walked in I was honestly a bit apprehensive. It was a bright day and the inside was quite dark and had a slightly scary feel to it. Let's just say it doesn't have the environment of a family restaurant. You can actually purchase condoms here, which I'm not sure about you, but I have never had the option to buy a Slice, Soda, and Protection before all at one place. However, and this is a big however, once we sat down and our eyes adjusted, it's not such a bad place. Who am I to say that a place shouldn't have Disney on Ice promotional cards right next to Night Club flyers with explicit titles? The place does what it is passionate for and they have good pizza, so I really can't judge. Service: There was one staff member working there and he greeted everyone as "Boss". He seemed genuine and knew what he was doing. All in all a cool guy. Overall: On a recent Talk post, some fellow Yelpers suggested The Pizza Place as a place to go for slices. I stand by their suggestions and would definitely come back for a slice if I were in the area. Would I come at night? Probably not, and not without a group. But if you're walking around the area in the day or in between classes and want a place for a nice piece of crispy and flavorful pizza at a fair price, definitely check it out. read more

the sausage roll was way better than I expected wow wow. The pizza was just a pepperoni pizza but it was the yummiest! The late night operation involved a security guard, separate stations for pickup or need to order, and it was super quick. We ordered through slice, we are traveling and just needed something late night but this is actually so delicious would recommend if you're looking to eat pizza! read more

Such a horrible experience tonight, saved only by the customer service from Uber Eats. My order arrived timely, but I had ordered a DIET COKE with my order and was sent a regular coke instead. Apparently, the driver tried calling me, but my phone never rang and the owner wouldn't let me talk. I was understandably frustrated and he continued to blame me as a customer. First, there's WAAAAAAYY better pizza than theirs around town and I'm not about to give any money at any point in the future that treats a customer like I was treated over the phone. Add to this that the pizza was both cold and shoved improperly into it's box and this place can kick rocks!! *********UPDATE********** Due to weather today, no much was open that deliver to Manchester. I was told last time that they would provide a free Diet Coke on my "next order." I made a note to mention that when I placed my order today. Guess what still didn't show up? I'm tired of taking the high road and being calm and collected. FUCK THIS PLACE!! read more

If you have a late night need for food (especially pizza) after drinks, this place is all about it. Big sloppy piece of pizza for a fair price that hits the spot despite being made with fair-quality toppings in meager amounts, sold to you by an angry guy behind the counter. read more

After driving by this place for what seems like a million times, I finally decided to try it since I knew it was open late and I had just finished my 3-10PM Pediatric ED shift. The menu is a bit more limited after a certain cutoff time (probably either 11PM or midnight, I can't remember), after which they sell only a subset of their menu. Also, the guy behind the counter said I could only order by the slice or whole pizza extra large. Despite the somewhat limited offerings, I ordered a slice of mushroom pizza, a Jamaican patty, and a sausage roll. The worker put all my food back into the oven for reheating. When he didn't put the mushroom pizza in at first, I thought he had forget part of my order, especially since he started tending to other people's orders placed after mine, but when I spoke up, he said it was just because the thin pizza didn't need to heat up as long. He was definitely a no-nonsense New Yorker, but at no point would I have considered him to have been rude. He was just very direct and to the point. As for the restaurant itself, it's simple and has a few tables for eating in, but I took my order to-go. It came wrapped in a nice pizza box. As for the food itself, I will pretty much only eat thin-crust pizza, so the thin crispy texture was just to my liking. I was also glad that the pizza was not too heavy when it comes to cheese; I prefer a greater sauce-to-cheese ratio. Overall, not super cheap, but the slices are huge, it's nice crispy pizza, and it's open super late. read more

I didnt try the pizza. I ordered a few other menu items through door dash, they look nothing like the pictures. The stromboli roll was nasty, there was so much butter/grease on it that I couldnt taste the one single layer of pepperoni they thoughtfully put on the inside. Its topped with melted cheese slices, yes, sliced, not shredded, like the prepacked kind that goes on a sandwich. Same thing for the spinach roll. The beef patties are alright, but you can find the exact same ones anywhere else, even the CITGO in Petersburg has them. This was one of those rare situations where most of it went in the trash. read more

James & I wanted to order a large pepperoni pizza here to carry with us to VCU hospital for Ben & Dora. We were driving from NoVa to Richmond and we wanted to time the pick-up of the pizza so it would be hot and ready to eat and not cold by the time we got to VCU Hosp. James called when we were about 30 minutes out, the guy on the phone said, oh just call 5 minutes ahead we'll have it ready. I said to James, "come on, who can cook a pizza in 5 minutes". We waited until we were about 20 minutes out, James called and ordered the pizza, the guy said oh, well it's going to take 15 to 20 minutes. We were there 20 minutes after we ordered the pizza and still waited 5 minutes for the pizza. Oh well, Ben liked it, he saved Dora a piece for later. In the area for work, ordered pizza because it was the only thing open at the time. Easily the worst pizza I have ever tasted in my life, zero exaggeration. On top of that, my friend's pizza was undercooked. The dough was actually inedible and a health hazard. I called the place back to say something about the uncooked pizza and they hung up on me 3 times before I could even explain the situation. Terrible food and an even worse business. read more

Employee touched our food with bare hands, no gloves. Mask was hanging from his face by one ear. Very unsanitary.

Pizza taste ok needed to be cooked more the thin was very floppy!!toppings were not the greatest delivery was very good and timely

Order was over 50% missing when delivered. The food that was in hand looked like leftovers-New Yorker was missing sauce and cheese and the meats were burnt/overcooked...garlic knots looked like soggy spit balls. the guys ahead of me in line (who happened to be african american) didn't have enough money so I offered to buy their meal, and the owner was like "Oh you wanna pay for these guys? It's important to have a no-frills, walk-away kind of pizza you can eat standing on the street or on the way to your next location. These were plentiful in NY when I lived there, but here in Richmond so many people want to give you a box, or make you wait 30 minutes, or they want a tip, or you need a reservation, or they only cook it for 3 minutes in a fire oven and you have to use a fork and knife and you question what wrong you did in your life to get here. Facts: Not too greasy, not too floppy, no cheese run off, a bit of a crisp to the crust, and almost confusingly close to room temperature (which honestly, I love) on a paper plate. You pick a few toppings or none. None is fine. I don't go here for the delightful chit chat, I come here for minimal interactions and a quick, cheap slice I can shame-eat in my car. Bring cash and keep your phone in your pocket. The end that's all. read more

stopped at this place as an alternative to dominos while out of town after seeing a show. This was literally the worst experience from start to finish. The only worker was an absolute dick, yelling out to the people in line "your only choices are pepperoni, cheese, or pepperoni & sausage". which was a disappointment to begin with. however, we settled on pepperoni, wanted to take it to go, we're told "to go bags are at the end of the counter" when there weren't any. Instead of apologizing for lack of preparation, the man said, "oh here's some" and laid them on the counter. we fixed to just stay there, because our pizza was given to us on paper plates and I went back in line for drinks. While the one worker was telling a story to another customer, I waited for about 7 minutes for 2 bottled drinks.... when I finally got back to our table, around the corner comes the one worker, yelling "in 2 minutes dine in seating is closed!" a two minute warning? are you serious? not a 10 minute, then 5 minute warning, but 2 minutes? he came back around precisely 2 minutes later saying "dine in is closed" to which no I responded "seriously?" because i hadn't finished my one slice of pizza. and he said "yes seriously" to which i asked, "where is your boss" and he insisted that "he was the boss and if we didn't like it then don't come back". which of course, coming from out of town we definitely will not. Such piss poor customer service for somewhere that's scheduled to stay open until 3am but kicks out customers at 1am. Literally disgusting. I've received better service in NEW YORK CITY and this is goddamn virginia. read more
