Got a little tossed up on my doing
    Isabella M.

Flying in to Richmond past 11p and starving is not the most ideal ... especially due to the fact everything good to eat is closed! We were looking and looking and all the bars that were open did not seem to satisfy our wants. My parents and I are quite particular when it comes to food. We wandered into this pizza shop - it definitely did not have our familiar vibe we normally go searching for ... but the taste was spectacular! The crust was perfectly crispy yet no charred edges. And I am an amateur pizza chef at their finest so I definitely know my quality pizza traits. The people working there seemed to keep their kitchen quite clean and were all super friendly. Assante's Pizza is for sure a spot where you can apply the phrase "don't judge a book by its cover" because we were extremely satisfied.

They have cream soda. I had to get that with my meal. Place is self serve, walk thru. No actual table for wheelchair. I sat at the end of a booth table. So not really wheelchair friendly. My mistake. Apparently they have table sitting in the back of the restaurant that would accommodate a wheelchair. Food was okay. The pizza crust was pretty good. I expected something that thin to be crispy but it was actually very good.

Late eats are far and few in between and lord know I don't expect the world, but this was not for me. Between the random kids/teens, hanging behind the counter, outdated menus/prices, and a cook (long straggly hair, no net, no gloves) who makes orders when he feels like it were the easiest part of this visit. My cousin got a cheesesteak with undercooked peppers, mushrooms and onions.y personal pizza was so sweet, I swear they used a load Filpino pasta sauce and added a little extra sugar. I ordered a cheese personal pie an the cheese was very scarce. Return again, I think not.

Assante's is A-Okay by me! Definitely a solid spot for cheap, quick, and late night eats. After an extended happy hour with friends I was ravenous and wanted to pick up a late dinner on my way home. I was craving pasta but didn't want anything fancy, and Assante's came up on Yelp as the least expensive option nearby. Their website was easy to navigate and place an order, no account or credit card needed. My order was ready when I arrived at the restaurant even though only one person was working. I paid with no issues and my food was still hot when I arrived at home. A large baked spaghetti and meatballs with garlic bread (a sub roll with butter and garlic) cost less than $8. It wasn't nearly the best I've ever had, but it was satisfying and you can't beat the price. I had leftovers, and with some added seasoning it was still decent the next day.

Amazing service the people were very kind, Family Feud was playing top tier entertainment! The setting was very chill and clean. The food smelled amazing as we got it and tasted even better! The crust on the pizza was buttery and crispy, the dough was a perfect thickness not too dense but still a good deep dish. It was soft and fluffy but wasn't soggy a perfect combination. I will say more tomato sauce would make this better for me, but that is just personal preference. Overall 10/10, fire and would definitely return whenever craving a good authentic pizza! Also had complementary sauces (Ranch and Garlic butter) a sweet surprise!

Ordered delivery from here on a weekday - I had received a menu from them in the mail and decided to try them out. I ordered the small popcorn chicken, garlic knots, and a meatball sub. I was unimpressed with the meal. The chicken was ok, but it just looked kind of sad with the presentation of it. The garlic knots were not great and did not have much of a garlic flavor to them. I was also not satisfied with the meatball sub. The sauce was very heavy and had too much seasoning and spices added to it. It was also a little light on meatballs. I would be unlikely to return or recommend to others.

Philly steak pizza wth no onions! So delicious!!

The Restaurant was practically empty !! Maybe a total of 20. We walked up a small ramp that lead us to a larger dining area where we saw a few guests. At our table standing was a youthful warm smile waiting that made us feel ok to stay. I overheard someone calling the name of the woman at the door, and they said Patricia. Our server's name was Jocelyn and she was very delightful. Our server made suggestions and explained that most of the pasta is made in house. Still observing and listening. OMG, the woman is the manager. Mam, I'm sure you will be pleased to know that we will NOT return. She walked by several times smiling and conversing warmly with other guests. This is an authentic looking and a bit dated Italian Restaurant. I'll be brief here. I had the spaghetti and meat sauce. The pasta had that obvious taste of homemade and the sauce as well. The bread was homemade with the potential to be good, if it was warm and soft, not crunchy. I had the salad packaged to go. Appetizer was fried zucchini that was golden brown, crunchy and flavorful. RVA has MANY Choices of restaurants to choose and I should've known better.

We made a reservation for a weeknight and were seated immediately upon our arrival, a few minutes before our reserved time. The restaurant was packed and the servers were hustling, but they were all friendly and did a great job. We started with fried squid (because, when at Edo's Squid..), which was so crunchy and delicious. It tasted great just with a squeeze of lemon, but the marinara they serve it with was great, too. My bf got the carbonara, which was very good, and I got the spaghetti con ricotta, which was out of this world. My favorite thing about good Italian food is that it's just simple things, done really well. The portions are huge, so I'll be eating leftover pasta for a few more nights this week, but I'm glad that I saved room for dessert, as we tried both the tiramisu and the cannoli and were not disappointed by either. Overall, a great meal in a warm, cozy spot.

The weather was a balmy 72° at 6:30 PM and slightly overcast which made the patio the perfect place. A very serene setting for a sophisticated meal. I highly recommend the patio, but you need to plan way in advance. Even on a Wednesday night. And definitely get there early because parking is a bear. I don't mind the walk, but anybody with mobility challenges, might find it tough to get there on time unless they can get dropped off. For cocktails our friends got a very swanky bottle of white wine by Cinque Terre. My husband and I got mixed drinks : the Italian stallion and the ciao fantasy. Very different experiences, but both very good. The Italian stallion was complex yet refreshing and the ciao fantasy was complex and smooth. For appetizers, we got the beef tartare and the Borlatti farro verde. Again, both very different but equally delicious. The tartar obviously more a protein forward appetizer that had a smooth richness brought out by the egg and the well chopped beef. The extra sourdough was a nice touch. The Borlatti was the perfect starter for a spring evening and I actually enjoyed it more than my entrée. It has a lightness to it, but also richly satisfying, especially with the sourdough. For the entrées, we went back to our favorites from last time which was the cavatappi and the rockfish. I enjoyed the cavatappi more but I was trying to get more protein and less simple carbs so I stuck with the rock fish. This time the fish was not a great piece and had very little edible protein because of the bloodline running down the center of it, so for $38 it felt a bit stingy because I needed more of the fish than the slightly over spiced rice and sausage. Did not feel like a good choice for the evening. I did not finish and went back to my appetizer to satisfy any hunger pains left. Definitely disappointed that there was no specials for the evening and a lot of the menu seems pretty similar to the last time we were there. Also seems like fewer choices at least for the small plates. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful and again really enjoyed the atmosphere. However. Everything seems overpriced these days but even though prices haven't shifted that much at LL on this occasion, $172 after tax but before tip seemed a bit much for Richmond. Feels like everything is a few dollars over what the price point should be especially if it's not done to perfection. We will probably go back but not for a long while bc of price but also because of menu options. There are several restaurants in Church Hill that bring more bang for your buck.

At least Dinamo's is on a corner, so there are a few parking options. We managed to get a close spot, thankfully. The restaurant was bustling and buzzing with life when we stepped in. There was no hostess stand, so we hovered around the entrance awkwardly, wondering where we should be, waiting for the fast-thinking servers and bartenders to find us a spot. This is likely due to the limited seating space, and it works until your party is larger--definitely call ahead if that's the case. We were seated at a two-top in the crevice between the bar and the kitchen. The aromas of the smoke-filled room captivate us, our imaginations conjuring different dishes. We quickly received our waters, place settings, and menus, as the servers dutifully helped each other where they could. I decided on the brocoletti (noodles that look like onions) with beans, sausage, and polenta. My partner ordered the plain white pizza. We received some complimentary bread as we waited for the meal. We used the olive oil, salt, and pepper at the table to give it a little pizzazz. My dish arrived scaldingly hot, so be careful with the polenta especially. The beans and sausage were perfectly seasoned, with the brocoletti noodles taking on the flavors of the dish's other ingredients. The white pizza was punchy, the parmesan being the star of the show. The crust was soft and chewy with a bit of crisp. We boxed up half of our meals, leftovers to enjoy again later, and we opted to try the chocolate tort with the cherries and cream. The cherries should not be optional here, IMO. They take the dessert from beautiful and delicate to decadent. The chocolate tort was delicate; the cherry glaze and depitted cherries pushed my taste buds to their limit. It is a simply wonderful concoction; hence the reason for forgetting to take its photo (remnant plate and spoons pictured). Our experience at Dinamo's was fabulous from beginning to end. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a curated American/Italian menu (with some seafood specials mixed in) lovingly cultivated by the chefs. I look forward to revisiting Dinamo's in the future to explore its other specialized menu items.

We ordered a beet and fennel salad - and now, that is a salad. The beets were fresh (I've had canned beets in salads before but this was fresh), and the fennel was crunch, mild, and texturely satisfying in contrast with the soft beets, the dressing was well coated but not drenching the salad. Could have eaten the salad all day but then the entrees came: Squid ink fettuccine with calamari and shrimp -- it was so fresh I could not eat it for a few minutes, massive entree, fettuccine tasted like it was made in house, so flavorful and rich Sausage with polenta -- my first time trying polenta in solid form, tastes a bit like if rice and corn combined, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, sausage was good too Also the complimentary bread was excellent, crunchy exterior soft interior, especially dipped in the pasta sauce Recommendations: making a reservation (you have to call), we made the mistake of assuming it being a cold rainy Sunday, we could do a walk in at the bar, but ended up walking in the rain for about an hour - well worth the wait Affordability: ~$25-30/entree Ambiance: it's pretty small and easy to bump into people on accident, but very cozy ambiance with deep red color theme Service: great, no issues!
