I'm always on the search for good pizza. And being a Chicagoan I've give up on finding a good stuffed pizza and am focusing on finding a decent flat pizza. I've heard very good things about this place, then I hear this place used to be so good so many years ago...who knows? The family came here on a whim on a cold and windy day 'cause pizza is a universal food and Pizza Joint makes a good meaty pizza to complement my veggie half of the pizza. I especially love the artichokes since they add a substantial amount of texture to what could be an otherwise flat and boring pizza since I don't eat the crusts. We brought our dog along and sat out on the patio so we could all eat together. It's hard leaving your dog at home and I wish there were more dog friendly places but alas, it's a niche market. Our dog chowed down on some chicken tenders while we partook in her chips and ranch. I was really surprised with how big the portions were for a kid size entree but pleasantly satisfied with the basket of potato chips nevertheless. Our server was definitely worthy of a 4 star rating. He came out to check on us frequently, offering to refill my paper cup of soda and was quick and courteous in turn. First impression....old and dirty. If I need to wipe off my chair before sitting in it, there's a problem, especially with all of this Covid business going on and everything is supposed to be cleaned between guests. Not the case here. After having a horrible experience at the downtown location, we decided to compare to this location. A smidge better. Ordered the Big Mike...still missing some ingredients but not as bad as the downtown location. If they happened to change up their ingredients, they should update the menu. No point in ordering an appetizer, it comes out the same time as your food. Not only did it happen to us, we saw it happen at two other tables. It's called an appetizer for a reason people! My son was happy with his meatball sub, the only reason they get two stars. This company in general, so it seems, has gone downhill with quality and service, equally. I would not recommend to anyone. It was a choice between my all time favorite Mexican food or something a bit more chill and relaxed like Pizza Joint in Evans (and not go downtown) I'm glad I came to this location. Nothing fancy, didn't spend tax money, just wanted to enjoy a good rainy day off with my favorite foodie partner. Our waitress was Francana (France and Ana without the 'E' . She was awesome! I also met Ian! Ian wasn't waiting our table but I noticed the kind and hardworking spirit that was there. I made it a point to let Ian know that I really felt the need to meet this wonderful person and I'm glad I did! Francana told us about the beer samples, the difference between Howlers and Growlers that are offered there. My friend and I splurged a bit and had a GREAT time for about $56! This local pizza place was deliciously surprising. Their pizza was perfect, I ordered the carnivore minus some ingredients and the the Big One and I couldn't stop eating after one slice. The dough balls need some work they were basically dinner rolls, but other than that this place is great even down to their marinara sauce, it wasn't watered down and the taste was rich and tomato-y which was a nice change from other pizza places. Have loved this place for years but their efforts to update it have resulted in slower food delivery and overall worse customer service. The bar staff is always great but ended up sending my slice back due to it having the consistency of a light truck tire. They rolled out a beer club program a year or so ago but recently changed the rules on how you can use it. It's a good place to drink and watch a game but that's about it. read more

The first time we went there, it was good. The drinks were awesome and the Pizza was good. We have gone back twice since then, the last being this evening. The salad was tasteless, my Margarita had more salt than Tequela, and the Pizza was awful. The crust was thin in one place and thick in another. No taste, just flat. We ordered sausage and fresh basil, we got very little sausage and the basil was baked in to the Pizza. Needless to say, a very disappointing evening. We had to ask for clean silverware 3 times. I love coming here for a quick/sit down bite. My favorite time to come is late night to avoid the dinner rush. They have great pizza and 52 taps + craft spirits. The ambiance is casual/chill and so are the staff. Never had a problem or bad food here. Will keep returning! read more

This place is amazing! Not only is it the best place in town for pizza, but one of the best places for pizza I've been to. Their specialty pizzas (our favorites are Chicken Diane and Jimmy Pesto) are incredible but honestly even the plain cheese pizza is pretty great. Contrary to some of the negative reviews, I have never dealt with food coming out cold. My wife and I have probably come here half a dozen times in the last three months with no issues. And don't even get me started on the amazing craft beer list. Easily the most extensive in Augusta/Evans and the majority of their taps rotate to include new or seasonal beers, which always end up being fantastic. The atmosphere is nothing crazy, but we do like the open floor plan. It makes you feel less confined. We have had some minor hiccups and delays with service, but nothing terrible and usually it's just because the space is fairly large and open, so depending on your seat, the waiter/waitress might miss you at first glance. Not a huge deal. This place has been a staple of mine and my wife's since we moved to Evans and even when we lived in Grovetown; nothing but good things to say about you Pizza Joint! read more

Got our order wrong Twice. Ordered The Big One substitute garlic and extra sauce for beef rec'd a carnivore. They took it back and finally after an hour, total being in the restaurant, we rec'd The Big One NO extra sauce NO garlic. At least they got the thin crust correct. Pretty flavorless pizza about the only flavor was the onion and green pepper. Hint your sauce (if it had enough on it) should have flavor under the cheese and ingredients. Food is great. The dough, the style. It's not boring by any means. The beers on tap never disappoints with rotating seasonal taps and some that are always in stock. Service is terrible. ...I'm writing this while waiting on a sandwich. I suck at writing, I edit a lot and typing on my phone is hard with these giant thumbs, so it takes awhile - kitchen and staff. This place is such a mixed bag so much so that every time I come here it's a different experience. They have been improving as the last couple times the pizza has been almost exactly what I ordered where it used to be you would get an entirely wrong pizza. The sizes used to fluctuate but have recently standardized and the crust has been the same the last couple of orders. The most recent order was a carry out and it was sparse on the toppings which happens occasionally here. The crust was ok and the sauce was consistent to the last couple orders. It was properly cooked this time which had been a problem in the past. If it continues to be consistent and they get the topping amount consistent and distribution even on a 28$ 3 topping large pizza (before tip) I will increase the stars. read more

This is what pizza tastes like fresh! Only thin crust, with locally sourced ingredients and everything fresh! Yes, it's casual and noisy and Sportsbarish, ( a dozen large screens ) but families still show up for dinner. Patio is west facing so it's too hot for me till well after sunset, but pet friendly. Wait staff is so nice, young and attractive. Even though place was busy and full we got quick service. Manager even checked on us and others personally. Used to be our favorite date night spot. Much of the recent reviews are accurate. I think it's mostly just a kitchen issue, slow food and inconsistent. It could be fixed and get them back on top, but they better hurry. I always thought the bar crew were great, the table staff is always busy as heck so it takes longer to get stuff out to you. Good beer selection but wine selection isn't that great, which you would expect I guess. And usually the reds have been open for weeks so unless they pop a fresh bottle don't bother with those. read more

Update: we returned last night with some friends. We asked for two checks, and as we each ordered individual slices and salads, this wasn't an issue. TLDR; Visit the downtown location for better service, we received some of the worst service we've had in years this past weekend. We have been fans of Pizza Joint for two years frequenting both this location and the downtown one. They have great pizza and before this past Saturday we always had decent to great service. Unfortunately, the service we received Saturday night was some of the worst I've ever had leaving the entire table in shock. I'll make a very long story short and give the last part that left such a bad taste in our mouths and frankly embarrassed that we had taken guests out of town here. We had some generally bad service especially for an basically empty restaurant (us and 1 other currently dining table in the whole place minus a few bar patrons). When we went to go pay the bill out of the 5 of us, my bf and I paid together with card, 1 other paid with card, and two paid with cash. Our server collected the cash first (where one our friends told her to just keep the change since she didn't have her wallet and didn't want to carry the loose change) and then came back a little bit later and picked up the cards. When she came and picked up the cards, she stopped and asked us all what we did for a living, this seemed a bit odd to us since she hadn't tried to talk to us the entire time other than now. We went around the table saying what we did with one of us saying they worked in a restaurant and the another saying they worked at Vogle. She waits until we all answer back and says "Oh so you (the friend from out of town who works at a restaurant) know how difficult it is working in a restaurant, how hard of a job it is since you don't make a lot" (All of this in an incredibly condescending tone by the way). Before anyone could reply she starts handing out the cards and goes "Well maybe you Mr. Big Vogle Man can help your friends out since 37 cent is not acceptable." and turns around and walks off. We were all left stunned, we had discussed while we waiting what we should tip since the service was god awful but the table was in majority to tip above the expected amount since thought she was just having a rough day, that is until she said that. As we left she yells to us to "I hope y'all have a wonderful night!" super condescendingly and proceeds to bust out laughing with another employee as we leave. I'm all for being petty where petty is due but all this server did was lose a tip other than the 37 cent, leave our out of town guests questioning why we took them to such a rude restaurant, and left my bf and I never wanting to visit the Evans location again. Update!!! Pizza Joint has gotten their Mojo back!There are new processes in place at the bar to track who has been served and who has ordered. The food is hot and delicious again! I am so thankful things are back to normal. Servers and bartenders seem less stressed out. I want to love this local pizza joint. I have been going here for about two years. The atmosphere has changed particularly in the bar area. It just doesn't feel fun anymore. The bartenders seem overwhelmed and very irritated. It can be a struggle to get noticed at the bar which doesn't make sense when it should be easy to just walk down your half of the bar and see that four or five people have no drinks in front of them. What happens is the bartenders walk by quickly and avoid eye contact with people waiting to be acknowledged. When you do get served you feel like you are annoying them by being at the bar. I had to quit ordering slices of pizza because they were room temperature. I feel like when I bitinto a pizza fresh out of the oven it should be almost too hot. read more

Ordered a Motor Head pizza to go. The pizza was ready by the time i got there and piping hot. The bartender was kind and took care of me right away getting my order. The pizza was cheesy and the sausage and pepperoni were nice and seasoned. The pizza was a deep-dish style pizza with a generous topping of cheese and red sauce. I would probably try this place again. Im not sure how it compares to the other pizza locations as i am just visiting Augusta for a couple of weeks.
