This has been on mine and my besties list all summer long! It's close to home and the summer menu looks so good. We had a free Friday night and were able to book a reservation the day before. One thing I thought was interesting was after I confirmed by reservation via text I got a message saying a two person party has 90 minutes for their reservations. While it does make sense, I have never heard of that before. When we arrived, the parking lot was full and there were many cars parked along the street. My friend parked while I checked in. They originally had our reservation inside, but I asked if they had outside seats available and they did! The inside looked more of a darker atmosphere with tables close together. The tables outside were a bit close together too. The service was good and the owner was Walking around asking the tables and people how everything was. The food came out quickly and was SO delicious!! I look forward to coming back again. I want to sit around the gorgeous fire pit area next time with some dessert! read more

This was my first visit to The Pink House tonight. We participated in Kent Restaurant Week and it was a wonderful experience in every aspect. We ordered off the Prix Fixe menu of $50 for three courses. Starting with the very green potato leak soup, it was so tasty. For the entree, I had the Roasted steelhead trout, Trevino, baby leeks, chanterelles and trout roe butter blanc and the flavors were fantastic. For dessert, I ended with the "chocolate dessert," which was a brownie loaded with layers of chocolate and nuts - one of the best desserts I've ever tasted! Our server was terrific. He was so attentive and took great care of our party of four. I was impressed that he went into the kitchen to ask how the mushroom special was seasoned (just salt and pepper) in response to a question from our table. ORIGIN: The Pink House opened during the summer of 2024 in a red barn that is positioned on a lot that includes a striking late 19th century home that was once known as the Pink House. It is part of a sequence of efforts to revitalize and develop West Cornwall into a destination location. The current project is being spearheaded by Marina Munuz, who recently moved to the town with her family and has a background in the fashion industry. LOCATION: With a location just across the street from a red covered bridge, a burbling tree-lined river, and mountains, the town in which the Pink House is located has many noteworthy features that surely beckon a visit. ATMOSPHERE: The red barn-like building that currently houses the restaurant is surrounded by a patio with umbrella-shaded tables. The interior is filled with sunlight and simply yet eclectically decorated with a mix of modern and country furniture. Subtle touches of pink are scattered across the dining area, which is divided by a large pine community table. FOOD: I chose to try the smoked steelhead trout since it was a more uncommon item for brunch and a similar dish is offered as a first course on the dinner menu. Whipped egg white draped a long thick slice of lightly grilled bread. Topping the egg layer were chunks of salmon colored smoked steelhead trout, golden smoked trout roe, shaves of pickled onions, and dill fronds. A glass pot of Earl Grey tea accompanied the dish. The combination was perfection -- attractive, bursting with complementing flavors and textures, and interesting. After being surprised by the brilliance of this dish, I investigated who is leading the kitchen. I found Gabe McMackin, who returned to his native Litchfield Hills after many years working in a Michelin-recognized restaurant in Brooklyn (The Finch), is the Managing Partner and Chef. I look forward to returning during dinner service. SERVICE: The server, Krisdee, was very friendly and provided guidance on the new brunch menu. The only hiccup was that the hostess seated us at a narrow and relatively dark cafe table next to the kitchen service door. Given that the restaurant had one other table occupied (we arrived for brunch, for which service only started that month) and we had arrived one hour before closing, it seemed needless for us to be positioned there. (We later asked the server if it was okay for us to move to the empty community table, which we did.) TIP: The tea is served in a glass pot, for which there is no mechanism to remove the brewed leaves. As a result the beverage becomes bitter over time. If you choose to order hot tea and anticipate sipping it over the course of a relaxing brunch, I suggest asking for a large mug to pour the steeped liquid. read more

I went here as part of Kent 2025 restaurant week, and they put some of the stars of the restaurant on the menu. The restaurant itself is very cute, as though you're eating in someone house even though there are plenty of tables and chairs (reservations recommended). The lighting is a little dim. There is outdoor seating for the summer with fire cones and you can hear the river. The food itself was delicious - the beet salad worked best with a little bit of all flavors in one bite. The beef? I've never had a cut so tender but without gobs of fat. Finally, the chocolate dessert, it would have been a meal! For those who have been on Royal Caribbean, it's kind of like the World but not melting. Lots of chocolate, and the brownie is like fudge. read more

We were so excited to try this place but experience was really mixed. We had a 6pm reservation on a Saturday. Atmosphere and decor were great. No notes there. Service was a problem. When we first arrived it was not very full (that changed quickly) but still took forever for waitress to take app and entree orders. We spent a LONG time waiting. At the end of the entree they seemed to want us to leave but we wanted dessert. They looked visibly frustrated but accommodated. They then forgot my husband's coffee and only brought it after we finished eating so we stayed another few minutes so he could drink it. As soon as he was on the last sip, the manager came over and told us they needed our table and we had to go. I've had this happen before but in this context, it was frustrating since we spent most of the night waiting on them and were only still there because of service issues/forgotten coffee. Also when this has occurred at other restaurants, I've had the manager offer something like a shot at the bar or a drink by the firepit - something to smooth it over. That was not the case here - just time to go. I will say waitress seemed to go above and beyond to get us something from the menu we wanted that we were initially told was out (the Very Special Fries) and these were very good. I was confused why so many things seemed to be "out" though, especially since we were early on a Saturday night (initially the fries, then told no mashed potatoes unless we ordered a particular meat entee, no lemon tarte dessert). Food was also very mixed - as mentioned the fries were very good (glad we got them!). The deviled eggs were fine but nothing special. The tomato stracciatella salad was delicious but small for 4 people to share. Had we been warned we probably would have ordered 2. The trout entree was fabulous. But the cacio e pepe was awful. Really really bad. Boxed spaghetti noodles with a little bit of butter and cheese and 0 flavor. Looked and tasted like something from a kid's menu. Our friends enjoyed the flourless chocolate cake. Cheesecake was meh. Overall not sure we would be back. read more

The only good thing about this restaurant was the Creature Sourdough bread--and they don't make it!! There were two children, couldnt be more than 11 years old, cleaning tables, etc. What? Child labor?? Our reservation was at 6pm and I ordered their "famous" chicken thighs. They were already sold out! So, I ordered Steak Frites instead. We waited FOREVER for our food to be served. I was visiting friends in the area and decided to have dinner there due to the good reviews. I was alone. The woman at the entrance was very short and unfriendly with me and told me I needed to sit at the bar due to other people arriving later. I followed. Sitting at the bar, I witnessed a different behavior (demeanor) from her as people arrived. It might have been that she knew them. Hold on to your hats and wait to be amazed. Walking into this restaurant is like walking into Alice in Wonderland's World. The man making coffee had on knickers, a herringbone vest, wool socks, a pointy Tyrollean type hat and a superb beard. Our table person had fantastic tattoos and a charming personality. The cocktails were bliss and the food was creative and nicely presented. We lollygagged for two hours and hated to leave. Going back with lady friends to celebrate our Birthdays next month. A Disappointing Evening Marred by Hostess Rudeness My friends and I were looking forward to dinner at this restaurant last night. What should have been an enjoyable evening quickly turned into a frustrating experience due to undisclosed policies and shockingly rude treatment from the hostess. Before we were seated, the hostess abruptly informed us that we had 90 minutes at our table. This came as a complete surprise, as neither the Resy reservation page nor our confirmation email mentioned any time limit whatsoever. Had we known about this restriction in advance, we could have planned accordingly or chosen a different restaurant entirely. What made matters exponentially worse was the restaurant's complete failure to coordinate their kitchen timing with this arbitrary deadline. We ordered promptly and enjoyed our entrees. We were given the dessert menus and then the hostess informed us they needed the table. The irony here is striking: the restaurant imposes a strict time limit on diners but takes no responsibility for ensuring that their own service allows guests to complete a full meal within that timeframe. If Pink House is going to rush people out the door, they should manage time to deliver a complete dining experience within their constraints. To be fair, our waitress was lovely throughout and genuinely tried to help by offering to move us to the bar. However, the hostess's dismissive demeanor had already soured our experience, and we had no desire to remain in an establishment where we were made to feel so unwelcome. This restaurant needs to address two critical issues: First, any table time limits must be clearly disclosed at the time of reservation. Second, if they are going to impose such restrictions, they have a responsibility to time courses accordingly so guests can actually complete their meal. It's unacceptable to blame diners for a problem entirely of the restaurant's own making. As a follow up, a member of our party emailed the Pink House's general feedback channel and suggested the restaurant should communicate time limits during booking and pace the meal accordingly. Marina, the Managing Partner of The Pink House Manager's responded with an angry phone call and email in which she doubled down with stunning arrogance. Rather than acknowledge any failure on the restaurant's part, she insisted the problem was ours--not theirs. Her attitude made it crystal clear that their need for the table superseded our dining experience, our satisfaction, and whether we would ever return as customers. This breathtaking dismissal reveals everything you need to know about the Pink House's priorities. They view diners as obstacles to table turnover rather than guests whose patronage sustains their business. It is certainly incredibly difficult to maintain a hospitality business in such a small town. A restaurant that treats paying customers with such contempt and refuses to take accountability for its own operational failures doesn't deserve anyone's loyalty. read more

We had such a lovely dinner at The Pink House. It just opened about a week ago but you can tell this will already be a town favorite. Everything we tried off the menu was amazing, but the service was outstanding as well. They had plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and maybe a little more upscale than its predecessor, Franks, but definitely cannot be missed. My friends and I dined here last night. I made the reservation through Resy for 5:30. When we were seated, we were told us we could only stay for 90 minutes. Neither the Resy page nor the confirmation said anything about a time limit so we were quite surprised. The kitchen made no accommodation for this time limit so as soon as we finished our entrees, our time was up and Marina, the managing partner, quite rudely told us we could not have dessert or coffee. The waitress was very nice about everything and offered to move us to the bar, but the rudeness of Marina made us not want to stay. If a restaurant has a time limit for tables, guests should be informed in advance when they make their reservation and the kitchen should make sure the food is delivered with plenty of time to complete the meal within their arbitrary timeframe. Especially when you are spending $400 on a meal without dessert. I wrote politely to the restaurant to tell them of our disappointment and received a hostile response from Marina that turned into a hostile phone conversation. Given our treatment, we won't go back or refer our friends. Some people should not be in the hospitality industry. read more

My friends and I wanted to celebrate the inaugural Kent Chamber of Commerce restaurant week and decided to visit The Pink House in Cornwall. From the moment we walked in, it was a perfect evening. A casual and inviting atmosphere with a simple prix fixe menu for the celebration of restaurant week. The roasted beef salad was nothing short of amazing. The short ribs fell off the bone and the Panna cotta was silky smooth. And on top of that... the server was outstanding without being doting. Wonderful, out of the way spot for dinner. Ambience, set up inside very comfortable, warm. The staff excellent, top to bottom. Great service. Waiter was fantastic. Price point reasonable too. But...the main dishes lacked balance. This might sound picky...the entrees were good...but there was something missing from each plate (and there are no "sides' options on the menu). The Bbq pork ribs (ribs, slaw, one marinated pepper) needed a starch...something...the chicken entree was a bigger miss...mainly a breast with light, dense mushrooms (think calamari/octopus texture) with the white meat chicken just did not pop (at all). And the squash/apple reduction barely a teaspoon in total so that was not noticeable on the palate. Maybe the head chef could think about the 'range' of flavors, textures on the main plates. Lacking. Otherwise the quality, ambiance, service, price point was great. Will be back...just saying.... read more
