ORIGIN: Clubhouse Provisions opened in Fall 2022 as part of…read morean effort to revamp visitors' experience. (Thanks to Bill S., Litchfield-based CT Yelp Elite, for bringing the restaurant to mind through his informative review.) The revitalization effort was initiated by a couple -- Jill Farrarotti and Jonathan Philips. Farrarotti's family owned the site since 1955 and Philips has professional food service experience. LOCATION: The restaurant is located at the edge of Stonybrook Golf -- a nine hole public golf course set on a picturesque rural road. CONCEPT: Clubhouse Provisions serves modern American and Asian-inspired dishes in a public clubhouse setting. ATMOSPHERE: The clubhouse is modern and bright, with wraparound glass windows overlooking the golf course, cathedral ceiling, and light-colored painted wood paneled walls. SERVICE: Service is informative and friendly. FOOD: The Crispy Thai Calamari ($20) is worth a visit in itself, and is available during brunch (Sunday), lunch, and dinner service. There is a mix of baby spinach, thinly breaded, crispy Calamari, and chunks of mango and grapefruit veiled by an Asian dressing. It shares top place for best iteration of fried calamari I've experienced (the other is Rhode Island style at a RI restaurant). Pork Belly Bites ($21) makes for a good small plate to share when looking to enjoy a drink and a bite on the porch or at the bar. The Avocado Toast ($25), a popular brunch item prior to 2025 season, has been modified and in my mind has an overemphasis on vinegar flavor, delivered through balsamic drizzle and mound of pickled onions. TIPS: The restaurant is only open seasonally due to its relationship with golf course. The absence of sound-absorbing ceiling material makes the dining experience uncomfortably noisy when the dining room is full. The space is available for hosting events.

Chef Jon is back, and his opening menu for Litchfield Restaurant Week is an excellent one, fully supported by the kitchen which is blending in some newcomers with its experienced staff. We like the wait staff we encountered, too: Jonelle and Abby, super friendly as always, and quick to respond. The early menu is limited but tasty: the fried chicken breast sandwich is back and as yummy as could be hoped. We enjoyed the salmon poke bowl (a little more acidity needed) and the splendid calamari. The deserts we sampled, cheesecake and flourless chocolate cake, were simply delicious. We are so happy to welcome Clubhouse Provisions back and look forward to many more visits and an update on the full menu later this year.

Everything was very clean. Parking was a bit of a struggle - there was street parking above, below, and across, and a huge lot in the back. They were well cooked but some had much more salt then others

The menu looked pretty good so we started with some apps. Beer cheese- definitely a different twist than I expected but it was great. Very flavorful, really beer forward. The bruschetta was ridiculously amazing!! The cucumber salsa was missing something but ok, needed some acid or heat. My disappointment started when they brought out our meal, (we still had two apps to go, I hate my meal coming out with or before the rest of our apps. I had the hot honey chicken and NE Clam chowder. The chowder was brown and was not what I was looking for, I packaged up to go. It was primarily the brown I assume the roux went farther than it should have or there is something else in it.. The hot honey chicken was ok, the chicken was paper thin , tasted mostly arugula no heat, no sweet... I'd switch out the bread for a roll next time and douse it with hot sauce. The cottage fries are out of this world and I would come back for beverages and those!! My partner had the biria sandwich which was fire, also had a salad which was really good as well. The cookies are really amazing! Actual Dessert- I am struggling with we opted for the Chocolate cake which was literally melting- did not think it was ice cream so not sure why we had a puddle in a box when we got home. I want to try other things, as we had some good and some not so good, so we'll be back and update again after another try.

Unfortunately, the evening became a three-hour waiting game. We were seated promptly, ordered drinks and were off to a nice start. Then everything stalled. Our starters took nearly an hour, and our main courses arrived almost two hours after we sat down. We were patient at first, but eventually the relaxed pace simply became frustrating... more bread, another glass of wine and still no food. When it finally arrived, the food was delicious. The duck dumplings, onion tart, crusted lamb loin and corn agnolotti were all beautifully prepared. Michelle also did a great job on the service side, but the kitchen was painfully slow. What disappointed us most was the lack of hospitality. There was no meaningful apology, acknowledgment or real effort to make things right... and we were charged for everything. More bread and a pint of ice cream didn't address the situation. We left impressed by the food but deeply dissatisfied with the overall experience. The prices reflect a fine-dining restaurant, but the service and hospitality did not come close. At this level, excellent food isn't enough. Fine-dining prices demand a fine-dining experience... and this simply wasn't one.

It was founded by business partners Stelios Stavrianos and Dimitrios Zahariadis. Stavrianos is the founder and CEO of CoreBev: a Waterbury-based alcohol manufacturing company founded in 2012. It is dedicated to bringing high quality and unique spirits and beverages to the market. Zahariadis founded the Cocktail Chemist Bev Company which was acquired by CoreBev in late 2021. He has since become the COO of CoreBev. In early 2024, CoreBev acquired Waterbury-based Continuum Distilling which originally opened in 2020. Continuum's original founder Brandon Collins, a chemist by trade, remained on as Connecticut Distilling's head distiller. The new enterprise's mission is a commitment to crafting high-quality, innovative, and sustainable spirits that honor Connecticut's rich history and vibrant community. I recently stopped at Connecticut Distilling during their Grand Opening week. Their tasting lounge is cozy, inviting, and comes with a staff of trained mixologists. Most of CDC's products are distilled using beer from locally Connecticut craft breweries. Attendees were treated to samples of some of their products which included a blueberry-flavored rum, a bourbon whiskey, an IPA-based spirit, a roasted malt beer-based whiskey, and a vodka. Everything was very smooth. We were also treated to a delicious spread of deli sandwiches and charcuterie as well as cocktails crafted with CDC spirts. Some of the cocktails offered included a "Welcome Cocktail" (Apple Cinnamon Drops, apple cider, black tea, citrus, bitters blend), a "Smoked Maple Manhattan" (Fort Hill Bourbon, smoked vermouth, Maplewood Farm maple syrup, bitters), and a "Peach Pecan Old Fashioned" (Charred, honey pecan, peach bitters). I had a wonderful time at the event and wish the owners much success. I look forward to seeing CDC spirits in my local package stores!

While I have not come in for the food, this is one of the few times where I am not going to worry about that. Nah, the reason I come to a place like this most of the time is when I need a few drinks to let myself loose. It also helps that I live very close to this place for the time being, so I might come back here a few more times based on that alone. This place is taken care of pretty well too. This is good because sometimes this place this place can get some pretty hectic crowding, but other times it will be a quiet night. It's a simple tavern, not much to it, but sometimes simple is what we need. Oh, and the service from the bartenders? Superb! Both times I came in I met Emily and both times she was great. Last night I met Jay. Gotta say, they work together quite well. They set the bar for any bartender who works here.
