3.5 stars. KPG Kitchen & Bar serves American food and pizza. We were exploring the area and decided to get lunch here. It's a nice spot located in downtown Kent. We sat at the patio area but then it started to rain so we went inside. I had the mussels as an appetizer and it was huge and really delicious. The mussels would've been sufficient for my meal. I didn't realize how large it was going to be when I ordered it, so I ordered a chicken bacon and ranch sandwich meal as well. I definitely didn't need to order that. I thought the sandwich was just ok though, kind of bland. Overall, it's a decent spot to get a bite and drinks! read more

My 4th time here at KPG, and it's always good. I love the truffle fries. And for dinner, I had the New York strip steak, medium-rare. It was cooked perfectly, paired with mashed potatoes with gravy and mixed vegetables. It was perfection! The gravy was rich and tasty, might be the best gravy I've ever had, and the vegetables were seasoned well and were not overcooked. We came in on a busy Saturday night but were seated promptly. My husband and I came for what turned out to be an early dinner on Saturday. We were told we could pick our own table. Our waitress brought menu's right away and asked for our drink order. Luckily we were ordering diet sodas or we would have had no time to look at drink options. We both ordered the NY Strip because the price was fantastic. The steaks came with mashed potatoes, squash and zucchini. My plate had no veggies because I passed them onto my husband. I wish I had kept them in this instance. My husband had me taste and they were nicely seasoned and very good! When I ordered I requested gravy for my mashed potatoes. They got my order correct and my mashed potatoes came in with gravy. I could tell the mashed potatoes were real because of the few lumps. Those are fine to me the one sign they are not instant. My husband ordered his steak medium rare, and I ordered mine medium. My husband's streak had little pink. My steak had no pink at all that I saw. Both our steaks tasted really good. So they must have been just passed how we like them. If your looking for a good priced nice meal - KPG is the spot. read more

Wish I could give 0 stars. We came here on Mother's Day. Maybe 3 other tables were occupied. As soon as we sat, we ordered our kids drinks and pizza. After there drinks came, we never saw another server again for 20 mins. No one came to get our drink order or food order. Kids pizza still hadn't arrived so we decided to leave and go somewhere else. My husband went up to pay for the pizza and ask for it to be to go and he sees every server standing by the bar watching the tv. He had to flag one down to get their attention to pay for the pizza. When he said we waited over 20 mins and no server returned, they said "sorry" and took his money and walked back to the bar. Really disappointing as this used to be a pretty good place and sadly, this happened on Mother's Day. read more

We visited Kent Pizza Garden tonight really looking forward to a nice Irish meal--specifically the corned beef special. Unfortunately, after placing the order, we were told they no longer had the ingredients to make it... at 7:00 PM. Not exactly what you expect when ordering a featured dish. It didn't get much better from there. The Guinness was served in a can and was warm. When I asked for a chilled glass, we were given pint glasses that had clearly only been in the freezer for a few minutes--looked frosty, but the beer was still warm once poured. The atmosphere didn't help either--our table had no lighting above it, while other tables in the center of the room did, so we were basically eating in the dark. Since the kitchen was out of several items, we ended up settling for a corned beef pastrami sandwich with fries, and the beef stew (lacking in flavor) which was disappointing. If you are in the area they have amazing pasta! I loved the shrimp scampi and the chicken parm. When they say big plate they mean big! Probably enough to split if you wanted but it was amazing! Been here several times and always a descent experience. Waiting for the "wow" factor to happen but never does? Stopped in with family on a recent Sat. afternoon after volunteer work on the A.T. Not very busy (30% full+-) for a sunny Kent afternoon? I let the young greeter know that we will be taking a seat out on the patio, but he fails to let a server know we are here, so after 5 minutes it was up to me to go inside and get someone. FOOD: Good field salad with tasty house dressing. Ordered a Margarita pizza and the toppings were very good, but their thick crust was extremely high? hard, and dried-out. Like the dough was formed by a machine? They need to go thin crust!!! Good beer selection. SERVICE: Our server (B) very tentative and pleasant. AMBIANCE: Kent center on a sunny day! not bad, but a little set back from the hustle and bustle of RTE 7 foot traffic and a little quiet. We loved it but the food was a little bland. Everything else was great though. A group of 4 of us came here and we had a great time. We sat outside and got service right away. We started off with drinks and apps. We ordered disco fries, wings and on the specials we ordered smelts. The disco fries and wings were so good but the smelts were just bland. For our food- three ordered burgers and an eggplant parm hero. They said their burgers were good and my hero was good also but just bland. It was on a plain hero roll (no garlic or sesame seeds) and the sauce and eggplant was very plain as well. I had to load it up with salt and pepper. All in all we loved the vibe, our server was very nice and the food was pretty good....7/10. I would go back! read more

Not a big fan. The beer cheese in the loaded fries was not right and we both picked around it. The entrees came out minutes after the appetizer. The waitress didn't even seem to think that was a problem when I asked "already?" The fish & chips was triangle shaped and obviously from frozen. My Moscow mule was good. We've been here on our last two drives to Kent and it's our favorite when in town. The highlight has been the live music in the back yard and the option to take out and use the picnic tables when we have our family dog with us. The food is very good and there are a couple of servers there that have treated us very well. read more

Not very welcoming. Had my 11 pound support dog with a vest with me and asked for outdoor seating. Was asked if I have paperwork for the dog then told I can't even sit in the outdoor sitting area. If I want to eat their food I have to order takeout and sit in the picnic tables. No thanks!!! There's a nicer way to say no. read more

We needed a quick lunch on our way home from Mohawk and the better-rated pizza restaurant in Kent (based on the single Google search we could finagle on our shaky cellular data connection) wasn't yet open. We didn't have high expectations of Pizza Garden based on the less-than-stellar Yelp rating, but were pleasantly surprised: The pizza (the only thing we tried on the menu) was good! Pizza Garden serves New England Greek-style pies with a thicker, less glutinous crust than our go-to NYC-style pie. Crusts are enjoyably oily, topped with the lightest touch of tomato sauce, a generous, but not in our view excessive, amount of cheese, and a moderate amount of mild pepperoni in our case. The pizza didn't involve anything too high brow and included minimal vegetable matter. Hence, the 9-year-old pizza-rater-in-chief called Kent Pizza Garden pizzas his third favorite pizza ever, after Pizza Pete's (NYC, UWS; NYC-style) and Brickhouse (New Milford, CT; NYC-style). The woman we spoke with on the phone to order was courteous, the pizza was ready in 20 minutes, piping hot at pick-up, and they were nice enough to throw in a few paper plates and pile of napkins so our hungry little piggies could dig right in. Food is ok what I don't appreciate is having two ingredients on one half of the pizza and plain cheese on the other half and being charged for two ingredients. Two halves make ONE whole! The bartender was so rude. We ate outside and decided to finish our wine at the bar since it was getting cold. It wasn't busy, when we sat down we got dirty looks for the bartender, and heard her talking about us to other patrons. "Why are they sitting in my area and not ordering". After hearing her talk to everyone about us I asked if we should sit somewhere else. Her response yelling "was I talking to you". Let's cut to the chase... The food here is terrible. The servers were pretty nice and ok about coming back and checking on us but... They could never make up for the horrible food. Came here with a group of five after a pleasant hike up the Kent Falls. We each ordered something different. Burger - fail. Chicken scarpiello - bigger fail. Sausage pizza - blek! Pizza margarita - not even worthy of a doggy bag. But seriously, how do you screw up a burger and pizzas??? Apparently the chicken fajita was not so bad but let's just say the source is rather unreliable... Beer ok. House wine ok. Sodas, meh... We have determined that they almost have to try to get it this bad and yet, people were there; dining, laughing, acting like it wasn't about to poison them. My mom and I walked in today. We stood around for a bit no one greeted us for awhile but we said nothing patiently waiting. We understood that this is a busy time of year and places are understaffed. We had a rude waitress who kicked the kitchen doors open aggressively as she walked by us. Then when she came back out she said "I will be with you, you need to give me a second" in a very rude way as if we were a bother. The brunette waitress who was working the bar seemed very aggressive and unhappy. My mom and I are very understanding that it's a tough time of year to work in and she had a lot going on but we were shocked by the attitude. We were there to spend time together and I wanted show her the place I love to get pizza I have just moved here about a year ago. She ruined that. We walked out. We all have a lot going on nowadays and spending time with my mom today meant a lot and she ruined that. We all need to be compassionate to each other. I have been a good customer to this place for a while too and I am completely disappointed. I am interested in seeing how this place can rectify this experience and keep my business. read more

Definitely had a much better experience than most of the other reviews. My family and I stopped by for lunch on our way to Kent Falls. It was a nice setting in a small historic area. We were seated immediately and since it wasn't very crowded, we were taken care of right away. Doug was our waiter and he was very helpful. I had the chicken bacon sandwich and my wife had the buffalo chicken salad. They were both very good. We would definitely stop by again the next time we go to Kent Falls. read more

It seems if you are favored customers, you may have acceptable treatment, but based on my experience, the inattentive and hapless waitstaff and rude owner are happy to allow you to be dissatisfied. My family, including my 2 and 4 year old waited for an hour and our food was not even started. The server was unapologetic and when confronted about this, the owner's response to my concerns was 'we do this for a living.' We stopped here on Feb 14 to grab a bite to eat and because every single gas station in the area had the restrooms closed to the public allegedly because of Covid. This turned out to be a great stop we had a fantastic lunch and the atmosphere was very good. Great pub food with a good selection of local and commercial beers. I ordered a cranberry walnut salad for $12 along with a friend, who ordered a pizza and two boxes of garlic bread (so our order was together, I payed him later.) My friend and I walk in to grab the food, along with another friend who had ordered just garlic bread. We waited 10 min for the other friend's garlic bread for the 2 workers to ask what we were waiting for (forgot we had another order even though we were standing there for 10 min). We leave for me to find I didn't get my salad. So I went to go back in and the door is locked?? Don't bother. This was the worst pizza we've ever eaten. It was served on the traditional aluminum restaurant pizza tray, implying it was baked in a pizza oven . After one bite it was clear that we were served supermarket pizza, actually Degiorno is better. In my photo, the pizza is half eaten because we did a 65 mile bike ride and were starving!! If you look closely you'll see that the pizza is sitting on a cardboard frozen pizza tray. Service was ok but didn't make up for the poor food quality.
