If you're on the hunt for a true farm to table dining experience, you've found the right spot! Prepare for a wonderful evening in an intimate dining setting. The restaurant has the feel of an old farm house. The decor inside is very simple. Our reservation was for 6:00pm and we were the only ones in a room of four tables for about 30 minutes-so it was very quiet initially. For drinks we started off with a couple of their craft cocktails. They also have a sommelier on the premises for bottles of wine, or a pairing available with both the prixe fixe and tasting menus. We opted for the prixe fixe as opposed to the chefs tasting menu to sample multiple dishes, and everything we had was delicious. The highlights for me were the peekytoe crab over egg custard, and risotto with morel mushrooms. For dessert we opted for the carrot cake with pistachio cream and brown butter. It was served with a dollop of carrot sorbet and shaved carrot chips. The sorbet was incredibly light and refreshing. It was carrot cake reimagined and I can't recommend it enough! Our server Chris was attentive, funny, well versed in the menu , and fully prepared to answer any questions and make recommendations. I highly recommend Ore Hill for a unique dining experience.

Ever since the New York Times published their annual Top 50 Restaurant List, I've been wanting to try Ore Hill. It's a farm-to-table restaurant offering a 4-course prix fixe menu for only $95, or a 7-course chef's tasting menu for $120. It's a bit in the middle of nowhere, but if you do make the trek out to Kent, CT, this is definitely worth trying!

What can I say. Great cocktails. Great service. Exquisite presentation. My husband and both had the prix fixe. Delicious bread with fresh butter. Cheddar beignet - big enough for a few bites but small enough to leave room for what follows. I chose the lighter dishes - Peeky toe crab outstanding - scallop: one scallop - a scallop is a scallop but the veggies and light sauce were perfect for a hot summer night. A small portion of halibut with infused oil and a variety of very fresh peas. Dessert carrot cake with pistachio mouse and gingerbread crumble. My husband chose heavier options - quail, beef tartare on a pizza crust made with ricotta and the chocolate dessert. His review - great combination of flavors and textures. No ambiance to speak of so if that's important don't come here - this is clean plain and simple

Lets start off with the atmosphere, charming dining room with a homey feel. pre fixe menu in which everything was cooked to perfection and every plate came out looking like a piece of art. tried a few things i had never before including the sunchoke custard which was delightful. service was attentive and they were very willing to explain the history of ore hill and each dish. if you can snag a reservation here it is definitely worth it! one of my favorite spots of 2023 for sure

The pattern made by the cream when my fork pushed against the leaf, how the apple was diced up, the crispy crust. Loved it all.

We had been in and it was so tasty we came back because Kelly had to work on our first visit so hoped she could experience the great food and service we enjoyed previously with Rebecca outside on their gorgeous deck. We placed our orders and they arrived timely. Unfortunately, while service from Jill was exceptional, our meal wasn't as good. The Rueben sandwich was a disappointment as the bread was very lightly toasted, you could feel a slight toast, but couldn't see it resulting in a very soggy meal to attempt to eat. Some of it, we fork/knifed. Great Rueben's are grilled and the menu description says grilled (see pics). I will say the corned beef was good as was the sour kraut. Our son had the black diamond burger which came dry, no Dijon mustard so he had to request it, which came cold in a bullet (small metal sauce holder). This resulted in it not having everything mesh as well as if it had been put on immediately while it was assembled. His fries were also Luke warm. Kelly really enjoyed her meal, she had the bay crab burger with veggies instead of fries as did I (Rueben) and they were great. Finally the hubby picked the Punjabi version of the chicken tiki masala which is just a spicy version. Again, the chef missed the mark and it came out bland. Johnny showed it to our great server Jill and she retrieved some red pepper flakes for him to add himself. It made it taste slightly better, but couldn't have been incredible if it had been incorporated with the curry while cooking so all flavors meshed. The restaurant is so pretty with multiple dining rooms for different dining experiences. While we thought the chef missed the mark on 3 out of 4 dishes, it wasn't awful and we definitely will be back. Both Rebecca and Jill are lovely, knowledgeable servers, the restaurant is always clean as are the restrooms. If it's a warm day, the deck is right on the river.

We came here because it was highly recommended and the ambience was great. In our first visit, our food took forever to arrive and service was very slow. I ordered the Reuben and when I went to pick it up, there was a large hole in the other side of the bread and the whole thing just fell apart. . The pastrami was very dry and just not very good. Aside from that my wife's meal was very good and we had a beverage and enjoyed the ambiance. This time we went and felt that we had lucked out because there was no one in the place. Our first mistake was, we sat at a high top in the bar, but it was too close to the door, so it was very cold. Every time the door opened the cold air with flow in. I put that on us for choosing a poor seat. The waitress promptly came over and took our drink order and said she would be right back to take our food order as we were very hungry. We waited and waited and it took a while for her to arrive. It looked like she forgot about us and quickly stopped by the table after walking past And asked if we were ready and took our order without writing it down. About 10 minutes later someone else came over and said I'm trying to confirm your order because it was not written down and make sure that we had ordered was ordered properly. The place had hardly anyone in it and not all the tables were taken so we expected our food to be received rather quickly however, after about a half an hour, we started seeing the tables that came in after us were receiving their orders and we still had not arrived. We both had ordered burgers which didn't seem that complicated. After about 15 more minutes, and since we'd been there, almost an hour we still had not received our food. My wife finally went up to the bar and mentioned something to someone there and she said she would go check on the kitchen. She went into the kitchen and immediately came out with our food. Strange? So we basically waited almost an hour for our food and it appeared to have been ready in the back and just sitting there. When we first tasted our food, it was not warm at all. The fries were cold and soggy, and my both of our burgers were warm not hot. This convinced me our order was there and never picked up. At first we thought about sending it back but then after waiting almost an hour, we decided just to eat it and leave. I feel bad having to leave a bad review but it is what it is and that's what happened. I would understand if the restaurant was overly crowded but like I said there was many open tables so I'm not understanding what was the issue. They were running food out, but these runners seemed a bit confused. After two tries, I'm not sure we'll try it again because we like the other place in town up the street just as much. We traveled almost an hour just to go here. There are places that are closer also much better and actually in town.

Our party of four spent over $800 celebrating my mother's birthday. A few hours after the meal, my brother became seriously ill, and because I had also sampled his chicken dish and later experienced nausea myself, we were concerned the illness may have been related to the meal. When we contacted the restaurant to share our concerns, the conversations with management were disappointing. Joanne spoke separately with several members of our family and asked whether my brother had gone to the hospital, undergone testing, or had proof of illness. When I asked whether the restaurant maintained food safety documentation, I felt the question was viewed as accusatory rather than as part of a reasonable concern following our visit. Overall, the interaction lacked the empathy and reassurance we had hoped for. No refund, credit, or acknowledgment was offered. As longtime customers who have celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, and milestones here over the years, the response was surprising. Beyond the health concern, the overall dining experience felt noticeably less positive than in past visits. The bread exterior was very hard, and we noticed other nearby tables eating only the soft interior. The vegetables served with the scallops were tough, the pasta was dry, and most of the dishes (except for the pea soup) lacked flavor. The deserts were lackluster, though the goat cheese cheesecake was delicious. The cheese board appetizer was presented without explanation of the cheeses or accompaniments. Crumbs were not cleared between courses. While our server was friendly, we were repeatedly asked whether we had finished dessert, which made the evening feel somewhat rushed during a birthday celebration. The server also spent time discussing personal matters during service, which distracted from the dining experience. We had to find someone to get our coats otherwise we would've walked out without them. The ambiance at Community Table remains beautiful, which makes the experience especially unfortunate after so many positive visits over the years. Unfortunately, after this experience, our family will likely celebrate future special occasions at other restaurants in Litchfield County that we feel provide a stronger overall dining experience.

Since we were driving from Cambridge to Egremont -- about three hours -- to celebrate a special occasion with friends who live nearby, we called to ask whether they could make an exception. The manager gladly did. A few hours before the reservation, however, the OWNER called and brusquely informed us that they do not take reservations for parties of four and that "maybe they could accommodate us," before launching into an unnecessary lecture about their 5+ policy -- essentially cancelling our reservation. Why do that to your customers? Unfortunately, it didn't stop there. When we arrived, he was again rude and dismissive, seating us at a tiny table in the corner of the bar that was clearly too small for dinner. Thankfully, the manager stepped in, rescued the evening, and moved us to the main dining room, where we ended up having a wonderful night with our friends. She also checked in throughout the evening to make sure our experience improved, and her professionalism genuinely turned things around. As for the food: we ordered the Smoked Fish Pate appetizer, the Grilled Salmon, and the Artichoke and Goat Cheese Ravioli. The pate was exceptional -- layered, balanced, and memorable. The salmon was perfectly cooked, flavorful, and refreshingly not buried under heavy marinades. The ravioli was also excellent. Dessert was a rich chocolate cake that capped off an otherwise delightful meal. The decor, service, and overall comfort were all A+. This easily could have been a five-star evening, but the owner's unjustified hostility convinced me that this is not a place I would return to.
