If you're on the hunt for a true farm to table dining experience, you've found the right spot! Prepare for a wonderful evening in an intimate dining setting. The restaurant has the feel of an old farm house. The decor inside is very simple. Our reservation was for 6:00pm and we were the only ones in a room of four tables for about 30 minutes-so it was very quiet initially. For drinks we started off with a couple of their craft cocktails. They also have a sommelier on the premises for bottles of wine, or a pairing available with both the prixe fixe and tasting menus. We opted for the prixe fixe as opposed to the chefs tasting menu to sample multiple dishes, and everything we had was delicious. The highlights for me were the peekytoe crab over egg custard, and risotto with morel mushrooms. For dessert we opted for the carrot cake with pistachio cream and brown butter. It was served with a dollop of carrot sorbet and shaved carrot chips. The sorbet was incredibly light and refreshing. It was carrot cake reimagined and I can't recommend it enough! Our server Chris was attentive, funny, well versed in the menu , and fully prepared to answer any questions and make recommendations. I highly recommend Ore Hill for a unique dining experience.

Ever since the New York Times published their annual Top 50 Restaurant List, I've been wanting to try Ore Hill. It's a farm-to-table restaurant offering a 4-course prix fixe menu for only $95, or a 7-course chef's tasting menu for $120. It's a bit in the middle of nowhere, but if you do make the trek out to Kent, CT, this is definitely worth trying!

What can I say. Great cocktails. Great service. Exquisite presentation. My husband and both had the prix fixe. Delicious bread with fresh butter. Cheddar beignet - big enough for a few bites but small enough to leave room for what follows. I chose the lighter dishes - Peeky toe crab outstanding - scallop: one scallop - a scallop is a scallop but the veggies and light sauce were perfect for a hot summer night. A small portion of halibut with infused oil and a variety of very fresh peas. Dessert carrot cake with pistachio mouse and gingerbread crumble. My husband chose heavier options - quail, beef tartare on a pizza crust made with ricotta and the chocolate dessert. His review - great combination of flavors and textures. No ambiance to speak of so if that's important don't come here - this is clean plain and simple

Lets start off with the atmosphere, charming dining room with a homey feel. pre fixe menu in which everything was cooked to perfection and every plate came out looking like a piece of art. tried a few things i had never before including the sunchoke custard which was delightful. service was attentive and they were very willing to explain the history of ore hill and each dish. if you can snag a reservation here it is definitely worth it! one of my favorite spots of 2023 for sure

The pattern made by the cream when my fork pushed against the leaf, how the apple was diced up, the crispy crust. Loved it all.

I had the cashew bark, which was absolutely delicious, and a chai that was perfectly spiced and really hit the spot. The atmosphere is just as great as the treats. The owner, Gary Kidd, goes out of his way to make it a destination with activities for kids and adults - photo booth, board games inside, outside games, and a winter igloo outside currently. Their handcrafted chocolates are phenomenal and there are all kinds of drinks to pair with them - coffee, tea, hot chocolate, bobo tea and specialty drinks that are named after local spots (including the three independent schools in town). Ice cream is served year round. The ever-changing decorations inside are not to be missed - the Harry Potter theme one was particularly great with clouds suspended from the ceiling along with wands and other things throughout the store. Everyone seems to use pretty much the same recipe with some slight variations. The muffins I had here were weird. I don't know what that dominant spice they used is but it was really kind of awful. Weird is just the only word I can think of to describe it. And the muffin was not dense at all. It kind of fell apart when you bit into it. I took a "sour cherry" pastry home snd it was ok. The apricot scone was bleh. I think this place will be a skip in the future.

However, they were out of a lot of bakery items by noon, so I'd recommend getting there early on the weekends. I went for the Smoked salmon bagel, and I kid you not, it was a religious experience. By far, the best jalapeño cheddar bagel I've ever had. I don't know how they made it but angels most definitely had to be involved. Order it with the scallion cream cheese and pay the extra $0.50 for the capers, it's worth it. I don't live in the area, so I will pray to the food gods to present me with an opportunity to return & eat that sandwich again.

Favorite flavors are Death by Chocolate, Coffee Cookie Crunch and Cappuccino Explosion. It difficult to choose between the three since a double scoop is as much as I can handle before my sinuses explode from exceeding my lactose threshold. This snack spot's popularity is well deserved and the line inside can get pretty long and move slowly. Once you give your order to the kind person behind the counter- please don't hang out in front of the ice cream display and block its view. The happy horde of your friends and family are not transparent. The last few times I've been here, there were older couples who were quietly trying but failing to peek in between lolly gaggers to consider selections and order. While staff work hard to finish orders expediently, customer crowd control would benefit if they were more upfront and stated an organized process "I'll get that started for you. Please wait for your order at the pickup area to your left, and we will call your name when it's ready".
