I don't know if the young woman working the event was high as a kite or just very uninterested in working there, but she made us feel like we were interrupting her texting. This is my new favorite bakery. I just wish they were closer so I'm not able to get here as much. I won the Christmas giveaway which consisted of 12 cupcakes, a gallon of pink lemonade, and banana pudding. While there, I purchased 2 of their famous cinnamon buns. Omg! They are amazing! You HAVE to visit the pink box! This bakery is tucked away in the back of the Harbour view marketplace (close to the theater and cold stone).. When you walk in, it's bright, clean and very well organized. This delicious little sweet haven is proudly a black, woman owned business! Ms. Gwen & her employees are absolutely the nicest most customer oriented around. I came in for a Yelp event & after getting a taste, I was eager to have MORE so I came back to purchase more. Her cupcakes are so moist & fresh! There is no artificial taste, only natural blissful flavors. The strawberry cupcake had a creamy yummy jam type consistency hidden in the middle, that just made the flavor profile EXPLODE. The caramel cupcake was the perfect balance of sweet and savory! I love when you have a sweet topping & the cake isn't overly worked with sugar! NAILED IT. Their signature pink iced cupcake also did not disappoint. I consider myself a cake type dessert lover but honestly Gwen has switched me over to puddings! Her banana pudding was a taste of PURE HEAVEN. It had the right amount of creamy, crunch and did not feel heavy like banana pudding can tend to be! I'm actually planning another trip back this week to purchase a couple. Last but certainly not least, the homemade pink lemonade was so refreshing & really hit the spot after a variety of sweets. Suffolk is a little far from my house in Hampton but after speaking with Gwen, she says they spotlight at the farmers market in Yorktown so both sides of the water can truly indulge! My fiancé had these delivered to our apartment after finding the bakery on Yelp so I can only comment on the cupcakes themselves. Unfortunately, the delivery service was poor so the cupcakes were flipped over by the time we opened the box, no fault of the bakery though. The cupcakes were tasty! I really enjoyed the moist cake and the flavors of each cupcake (chocolate, caramel, red velvet, lemon). My favorite was probably the salted caramel because it was a subtle taste. I personally wasn't a huge fan of the icing because it was too sugary/sweet for my taste. I look forward to going to the bakery and trying out the cupcakes there! read more

I heard about this place from my coworker. And since we are down the street from this location I decided to stop in Monday at lunch. The staff was really friendly and the establishment is very clean. I am something like a cupcake connoisseur so I am very picky about my cupcakes. So while it was on the plainer side, it was very moist and delicious. There's not a thick layer of frosting (which I'm thankful for) and it too was tasty. Definitely stopping back through on some lunch breaks. read more

I was sadly disappointed. My husband and I went to the movies and saw that this bakery was open! I got super excited because I would drive by and see it and wanted to go in... It was Saturday at about 5 PM... We walked in and there was a teenage girl almost laying across the counter on her phone. I get it. It's boring when you're alone and she's a kid, but she was not very welcoming at all. There were only three cupcakes and I said are these all you have? And she just said Yep... She was very underwhelmed and looked like she did not even want to be there. I asked what flavors they were and I basically got an exhale, and then she told me which are which so I said I will buy all of them... While she was getting them ready another lady came inside and said she's been wanting to come in for a long time and the teenager very underwhelmed again didn't say come back. She did not even tell the lady that there were no cupcakes left... She let the lady stand in line behind us and I had to turn around and tell the lady that there were no cupcakes left Didn't offer anything to this lady just as she didn't want to help me. I don't know if my cupcakes were old, but they were pretty dry and maybe it's because I had such a bad experience in the shop itself that I really didn't even care if I liked them or not. Let me start off by saying this was my first visit to this establishment, I thought it was brand new because the last time I visited this area ( it's right next door to cold stone creamery )it wasn't there or maybe I just completely overlooked it, either way I missed it. It's a small cozy clean place with the smell of pastries. We purchased a red velvet cupcake ( a flavor we both like and agreed upon to share ). We got back home and tried it,the icing was good but unfortunately the cupcake was slightly hard on the top which led us to believe the cupcake wasn't at it's peak of freshness or flavor for that matter. I found this place in the beginning of the pandemic. I tried their strawberry cupcake and fell in love. I told my mom about it and she loved it as well. We love going here and the owners are very nice and welcoming. They not only specialize in cupcakes, but they also have other desserts such a Cinnabons and banana pudding. Went in expecting a moist delicious Cupcake, with the tart lavor of lemon curd inside, sadly I was disappointed. My first visit and my last, decided to try 1 lemon cupcake, and was told there was lemon curd inside. Initial disappointment came when I opened the box, the cupcake was not the same sizes as the ones in the display case, as the cake portion was much smaller & hidden under alot of frosting. The display case had cupcakes with the cake above the level of cupcake paper, peeking out feom under a smaller amount of frosting all the way around. Mine did not, exactly opposite with cake well below the level of paper and a load of frosting in attempt to try and make the cupcake look bigger than it was. Taste was decent, a little tart like lemon curd may have been used in the batter, BUT there was no lemon curd inside or on top of this cupcake-as you can see in photos. Texture was VERY DRY, literally tasted like a cupcake that was either older or overbaked. Definitely NOT worth $3.50 plus tax for this cupcake, making it $3.94! I can and have made much better cupcakes at home, and was expecting so much more from a cupcake shop that specializes in them. ​ read more

The reason I give them 4 stars is because when we got our cupcakes the frosting tasted like it had been sitting out a while. I ordered. Cookies n' Cream, Strawberry Lemonade, Salted Caramel, Strawberry, Fruity Pebbles, and Red Velvet cupcakes. My favorite was the Salted Caramel and Strawberry Lemonade one. However, in terms of freshness, I wouldn't say they're the best but the girl working there was awesome! I signed up for a rewards account with them and it said the 10% was applied but the thing didn't apply at checkout so after leaving, she called and informed me that the discount was not applied and said that next time she would give us a free cupcake. So I kinda have mixed feelings about this place... I ordered curbside pickup, and I tried the cinnamon roll cupcake. I was a little disappointed with the size of the cupcake. It was a bit on the smaller side compared to most cupcake places I've been to, and costs just as much and a little higher. I was also a little disappointed with how the cupcake was decorated. It was just plain icing, no special touches or decorations. I have seen some better decorated ones online, so I wonder if I just got unlucky with this one. Idk but it looked as if I could have made at home, which sucked. But besides that the flavors were very good. The icing had a good amount of sweetness; not overpowering. And it did taste like a cinnamon roll. And the associate that served me was polite. The only other sad part about the experience was the cupcake definitely didn't taste fresh. I tried this place years ago when they first opened and then again last week. I remembered the service not being great the first time, and I was disappointed to find that it hadn't improved much. The person at the front was nice but there was no greeting or small talk and both times it felt kinda awkward. It is also quite plain inside and doesn't have that fun welcoming feel that I've seen at some other cupcake shops. I will say the red velvet cupcake I ordered was pretty good though. They have a wide selection of cupcakes and aren't overly pricey. Although I haven't had the best experiences, I probably will go back one day and try it again. read more

My family went to the Pink box after having brunch at nearby Egg Bistro. The bakery is really cute. We ordered half dozen and got 10% off for signing up for their rewards program. I think they just recently opened and so you can feel they are trying to figure out (in the middle of a pandemic) what there niche is going to be in the super saturated market of cupcake shops. My daughter happen to "stumble" onto this awesome cupcakery when she was attempting to take her brother for a treat at Coldstone. She looked and saw the inviting pink walls and bright lights from next door and decided to take a peek. When she went into the business she stated that she greeted with a warm smile and hello. Welcome to Suffolk The Pink Box! This new cupcake place was bought to my attention by a coworker, and I wasted no time finding the location and checking it out for myself. The store sits right next to Cold Stones and is wall to wall pink. I ordered a Chocolate Lover's and a Salted Caramel. I tried the Chocolate Lover's first, and no lie, I almost went back for another! The cupcake was so moist and the icing was light, which was perfect to me. The Salted Caramel was a nice combination of the two flavors. I wouldn't mind trying it again.
