We purchase and Apple and Blueberry Pie for Thanksgiving from the Pie Factory. I was so excited to server them to our guests. I am sorry to say that not one single person liked them or even ate more then a few bites. The pie crust was hard and thick and the filling was hardly there at all and very very sweet. I asked if anyone wanted to take the pies for a friend and everyone declined. They ended up in the trash. I hope that this is not your standard. This place delivers in its name with their PIES. Simple, homemade, and just done right. The fillings are flavorful and not overly sweet. We ordered the pumpkin and chocolate pecan for a friendsgiving and they were a hit. These pies definitely do not taste store bought and are not artificially sweetened. The pumpkin filling was creamy with just enough spice and the chocolate pecan is nothing short of orgasmic lol. The pie crust is simple and definitely takes a back seat to highlight the flavors of the different fillings being offered. Only downside is that most pies by the time I came to pick mine up on a Saturday were not available as you have to order ahead. I would've loved to have tried their macadamia nut cream pie *drool*. I recently dropped in on a whim right at closing (which is 5PM, heads-up!), and asked what pies they had available. They said pecan, pumpkin, and apple. So I bought an apple pie and served it for dessert that evening, and wow it was a hit. The crust was flaky and buttery, and the filling was simply delicious. If you're looking for a custom cake, this is THE PLACE to get it. This was my first experience ordering a custom cake. I called to get a quote for my mom's 60th birthday cake idea that I had, which involved a hidden money roll compartment that gets pulled out from the top of the cake. I called on a Wednesday and was able to get the cake on the following Saturday - so fast! I spoke to Jonathan, the operations manager, on the phone during the first call and he was very helpful and honest about what could be done in a short amount of time, but it ended up working out bc the cake I wanted was not too fancy or complicated. I asked for a simple cream colored round cake with elegant piped floral decoration, and the insertion of the money box. I emailed him some inspiration pictures and the custom cake specialist totally delivered!! The flavor I chose was Italian Cream and it was as delicious as it was beautiful. The icing was not too sweet, which is just how we like it. The price was extremely affordable (about $75), especially compared to other custom cake places. Couldn't recommend them more to all my family and friends who get custom cakes for special occasions. My mom loved it so much. Thank you so much Pie Factory! I have glanced at this place over the years and the one time I want to finally buy a pie and they move locations. It was a tad hard to find, but once you know landmarks it's no problem. The store is located at the end if a strip center that does not face the street. So be looking for the Sign. Its right next to a Brake Check. I came here still debating if I wanted a pie or cake. It lacked the light to medium souffle texture traditionally associated with s.p. pie. It was rather condensed and stale, like warmed puddy or soft glue. While there were hints of actual sweet potato (much appreciated), it appeared and tasted mixed with canned ingredient, overpowering what sweet potatoes there were, with an aftertaste. It lacked traditional buttery, as well as the traditional nutmeg/spicing, and was bland yet overbearingly sweet. Secondly, the cases were bare with only a few cookies to pick from and I tried a sandtart and it had NO taste what so ever :( Lastly, the place doesn't take credit cards. Cash only. I personally will not do business if a place doesn't have a machine because books can show a loss vs profit. I picked a boston cream pie and it looks beautiful. Their crust, so I was told, is homemade. Not expecting a crust on a boston cream anyway. Got home and cut a piece for each of us. The cake layers were light and had a good flavor. Pastry cream, we expected to be yellow, but it was more on the white colored side. It wasn't the true pastry cream we were raised eating, but it was favorable. The glaze was a bit watery by the time I drove the 100 miles round-trip back home. I suggest an ice chest if you have a long drive. I will go back because I need to try the crust! read more

Friends have been telling us this place has amazing pies. So one afternoon when we found ourselves in that part of town we popped in. First of all it's a little bit hidden off the street. If you see the McDonald's on the north side of Bellaire just west of Chimney Rock it's right across the street in that odd secret strip center. The front façade is something like one of those game rooms you are always scared to enter...dark reflective glass. But go in the door and there is a small little counter with a few pies and a HUGE menu of pies you can order. Don't expect to find every pie available when you just pop in off the street. I guess ordering yours is best...but with the holidays on the way, it would be a great place to get your pies. And I would advise ordering early. Just go in and speak with the super friendly folks who run it. I understand they also do some terrific special order cakes too. We took home a cherry pie that must have weighed 4 pounds! The crust was buttery, the filling sweet and tart like a good cherry pie should be. It really was a good pie. All sorts of fruit pies - cherry, apple, lemon, blueberry, pineapple(?) and pecan and Meringue pies and of course pumpkin. We are going to order our holiday pie from here this year for a change of pace. Ours was $12 to carry out. read more

I ordered a birthday cake for my daughter's first bday. I wanted it to be very special and I came up with several decoration ideas. I talked to Chef Kelsie who did our cake. She was very nice and she listened to me very carefully. I shown her several pics and gave some details about what I wanted. Despite its name, the Pie Factory has multiple dessert offerings at its store front. I've ordered multiple cakes, cookies, and pies from this shop and they've always done a great job of completing things quickly and delivering a high quality product. My top recommendations are the tres leches cake, carrot cake, and pecan pie. Just as a note, the confectionary items differ from other shops around town in that they are not overly sweet and decadent but more of a perfect sweetness which will leave you wanting to perpetually take another bite (much to my chagrin). Also, from what I understand the company is primarily a wholesale operations and gets most of its business from large deliveries, so the storefront is not as exuberant as some bakeries in town. I took an hour off work and drove to Bellaire to pick these items up only to find out the policy then.
